Vicem Yachts, Turkish builders of luxury classic motor yachts, welcomes Bruce Livingston, Jr. as Production Director for the company’s shipyards in Turkey. “Bruce is one of the most respected professionals in yacht building with a long history of accomplishments in shipyard operations and management worldwide,” said Sebahattin Hafizoglu, Founder and President of Vicem Yachts. “His leadership skills, production experience, financial savvy and knack for developing innovative systems and policies will help take the company to a new and higher level.”
Livingston’s impressive career spans more than three decades. Highlights include his time as as Project Manager for Coddington Yachts in Rhode Island, and 14 years as General Manager and Supervisor for Little Harbor Custom Yachts’ Taipei, Taiwan facility and its sister entities, Little Harbor Marine Enterprises and Ted Hood Yacht Builders. In this capacity, Livingston started up several contract building and factory operations for Little Harbor in Taiwan, Singapore and the U. S., and managed all factory operations, which employed more than 200 people and produced over 100 world-class quality custom and semi-custom sailboats ranging in size from 42-75 feet.
His accomplishments with Little Harbor led to his appointment in 1996 to Grand Banks Yachts, as Director and Plant Manager for the company’s operations in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia, a position he held for close to a decade. During this time, he helped develop the Malaysia facility into the prime factory for the company, doubling production in his first three years. He designed and built new factory buildings that increased capacity by 30% and allowed the company to build larger, more complex boats. He set up a product development department to produce new models, among them the Grand Banks Eastbay 58 FB and 47 FB. And he helped establish a sub-contracting department to build all component parts for the other factories in the Grand Banks group.
“Bruce has a stellar reputation in the yacht building industry. He is known by colleagues and customers alike as a dedicated professional who is always looking for ways to improve and expand boatbuilding operations across the entire spectrum of the yacht building and buying process,” commented Michael Landsberg, President of Vicem Yachts USA. He continued, “His success is evident in the strong relationships he has built with clients and colleagues over the years, which will serve to bolster our commitment to the customer and elevate our brand in the market.”
