The 17th annual La Belle Classe Superyachts Business Symposium has concluded at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4337" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Yacht Club de Monaco (Company)">Yacht Club de Monaco</a>, with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4509" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SuperYacht Times (Company)">SuperYacht Times</a>’ Head of Intelligence Ralph Dazert in attendance and speaking about the industry’s growing geopolitical challenges.&nbsp;The event brings together key players from the international yachting industry for a dinner debate as part of the "Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting" initiative, which examines the major challenges facing the industry.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/347761/image/large-502056cf32e4855de950299bf3017a68.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/347761">An industry facing growing geopolitical challenges<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4509" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="SuperYacht Times (Company)">SuperYacht Times</a>’ Head of Intelligence Ralph Dazert highlighted the impact of geopolitical tensions on the market, from the Ukraine invasion to Red Sea disruptions. These events have reshaped transit routes, with more yachts now navigating via the Cape of Good Hope instead of the Gulf of Aden. “We had anticipated a decline in yachts travelling to the Arabian Gulf, but instead we are seeing an increase in the number of boats based in the Emirates. The Middle East continues to be a booming region for yachting,” said Dazert.Geopolitical shifts have also altered buying patterns. While Russian sales have declined, demand from the US and Asia, particularly India, has surged. In 2024, orders for superyachts over 80 metres regained momentum, and global yacht sales over 30 metres rose 10 percent in Q4 compared to 2023.Rising tensions have increased operational costs, particularly insurance. “The increase in insurance premiums is a major obstacle – they now equal or exceed the cost of a charter,” said Captain Christos Metallinos of superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1096" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Emir82.5m (270'8&quot;)Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.1985">Emir</a>. “This has led to a significant drop in bookings.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/347760/image/large-1b9615df1ddadb2efddf4ba087e91858.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/347760">The impact on other sectorsOther luxury sectors are also adapting. “The imposition of a 25 percent tax on aircraft imported into the US is a major challenge,” said Olivier Zuber, Bombardier’s Sales Director for Western Europe. (Company)">Baglietto</a> DOM115 motor yacht model have been unveiled. The first hull of the new <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/375" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Baglietto S.p.A. (Company)">Baglietto</a> series is slated for delivery in the summer of 2025, while the second unit is under construction and on the market with a 2026 delivery.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/266491/image/large-fa773454684e56d3d11dd528ae415270.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/266491">Featuring exterior and interior design by the studio <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/76" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Studio Vafiadis (Company)">Stefano Vafiadis</a>, the DOM115 model builds upon her predecessor, the DOM133 yacht, retaining the same sporty aesthetic as her larger sistership. From the outside, the motor yacht’s exterior profile exhibits panoramic windows that open up onto terraces, flooding the interiors with natural lighting. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/348855/image/large-fa38571781dceef4739146f4f7a99703.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/348855">“This model in particular takes the concept of one single, harmonious open space to the next level,” <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/375" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Baglietto S.p.A. (Company)">Baglietto</a> explained in a press release. This philosophy is evident in the doors of the DOM115’S main deck saloon, which can be opened completely and concealed to merge the indoors with the outdoors.&nbsp;Meanwhile, the main saloon is flanked by expansive floor-to-ceiling windows for far-reaching views of the scenery, whereas the upper deck is entirely glazed and can open up on three sides for further integration with the sea.&nbsp;Similarly to other <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/375" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Baglietto S.p.A. (Company)">Baglietto</a> creations, the DOM115’s aft area spans over three levels that gradually descend towards the water. The first interior renderings of the in-build 34.79-metre Baglietto DOM115 motor yacht model have been unveiled.
