Videoworks presents the evolution of glass with latest product

Italian audio/visual company Videoworks has recently revealed the latest addition to their product line, an adhesive film compatible with any type or size of glass surface that transforms the surface into a multi-functional multimedia source. The film has the ability to switch from clear to opaque instantly or gradually at the touch of a button, and offers a deeper level of customisation to tech-savvy owners.

Installation of the adhesive film is simple and cost-effective, just requiring the application of the film onto an already existing sheet of glass. Videoworks also offer the opportunity to install the film onto a brand new glass surface. We spoke to the team at Videoworks recently, who shed some light on the development of the multimedia adhesive film and how the product can be easily incorporated on board any superyacht.

Tell us about the development of the product.

The technology itself was created by an external society, and was chosen by the experts here at Videoworks to be assessed and tested for use in our projects. After months of studies and real simulations of how this technology can work in a number of different environments, we’re now excited to announce that we’re ready to bring this product to the fore and offer this revolutionary product to our clients!

What are the benefits of incorporating this technology onboard a superyacht?

This solution offers the possibility to project on any glass surface, which is an amazing development. It means that we can be extremely versatile within installation, without comprising on the aesthetics of the environment in which it is installed in ways never before seen in this field - the film even disappears as desired at the touch of a button. This means that the owner can create ambiance wherever they want with a vivid projection of a Japanese cherry blossom garden, for example, whilst dining, and then simply turn it off and be able to enjoy the beautiful view outside. It is ideal for customising views, aesthetics and ambiance on board a superyacht and gives the owner and guests that extra level of personal customisation. This technology also allows to project a smart TV on the glass surface with optical results very similar to the home theatre projections. The glass can also be a sounding wall with just one small invisible speaker behind it.

You’ve only very recently announced the product to the industry. Have you received much interest so far?

We’ve only just started to talk about this new product, and we hope to receive the first feedback from the market soon. We’ve got a lot of ongoing yachting projects in general at the moment in Northern Europe as well as in Italy, where we’re actually working with almost all of the most important shipyards in the country.
