Joost Goverts of Northrop & Johnson has sold the Vitters sailingyacht Aphrodite I. The lovely 28.5-metre (94 ft) Hoek Design aluminium ketch Aphrodite I combines the sailing qualities of a high performance yacht with luxurious and comfortable cruising.
Following her first years successful cruising, Aphrodite I returned to The Netherlands in 1997 and was refitted at the Vitters yard during the winter 1997/98. She was considerably updated in addition to new paint and other cosmetics.
In winter 2005/2006 there was a second refit. The main engine was removed and rebuilt and the engine room was upgraded with respect to pipe work and other improvements. Rudder wires and bearings were replaced. New auto pilot with built in wind sailing functions, interconnected with Simrad plotter was installed. Since then there have been two further refits, including new teak deck, new paint, new mainsail, hydraulics overhaul etc.
