Dutch yacht design and engineering studio, Vripack, has created over 7000 designs since 1961. They are involved in the entire building process of innovative yachts that are professionally developed for private customers and shipyards worldwide.
The company believes in a holistic approach to their projects. Marnix J. Hoekstra and Bart Bouwhuis, directors at Vripack, explain, “A good design shouldn’t meet all the requirements. It should surpass them in order to engineer a project that goes well beyond a dream. A holistic design approach is fundamental towards working on the cutting edge of design and technology. We believe we don’t just design yachts, we engineer fantasies.”
Last year saw Vripack introduce their open trend platform VriThink! which ascertains what the wants and needs of future clients are. The platform showed how trends can influence and inspire the industry.
Robin de Vries, trend expert and designer at Vripack, comments, “VriThink! motivates us to look for innovations outside the brick walls of our Studio and it’s truly amazing to find more trends that will influence our industry than you and I can think of. You only need to have the right mindset in order to see them.”
Vripack’s core idea behind their trend platform is to be open-minded in order to create revolutionary thinking. VriThink! allows the comapny to research global trends in order to innovate and optimise their holistic design approach with the clear focus to realise better yachts in less time.
Bart and Marnix conclude; “One of the major revolutionary goals we set and wholeheartedly believe, is to be able to shorten the building process of a yacht by 25% at the end of 2019. This is a leap but already due to VriThink! we are working on a number of revolutionary research projects that will cut a big chunk of time. We believe this might be a win-win situation which could be very rewarding for all parties involved.”
