Vyva Fabrics unveils REVYVA sustainable line

Established more than 30 years ago, Carol Driessen founded Vyva Fabrics to supply high-quality fabrics and artificial leather, predominantly to the yachting industry. Today the company has grown to the top of its game, with an estimated 80 percent of the Dutch market share for superyacht fabrics and having expanded into the flooring sector as well, offering flexiteek and nautifloor among other vinyls. Vyva Fabrics unveils Revyva line As one of the early entrepreneurs in the industry to recognise the importance of sustainability to the industry, Driessen began to look at alternative options for fabrics more than a decade ago. In 2019 the first fruits of this labor were unveiled with the Vyva Hemp Collection, a line of upholstery fabrics made of extremely strong and durable hemp fibres, dyed in a selection of elegant and soft colours. The collection was also launched in five different themes with matching textures and one of the most impressive features of the line is that all of the fabrics are waterproof and stain free. This means that they can be used for both interior and exterior furnishings and can be left outside all year round without any degradation to the materials.

With the Hemp Collection, Vyva made its first move toward more organic, sustainable solutions, but for the company, this was not far enough toward true sustainability. It was then that the team started to consider truly recycled materials with a deep commitment to a reduction of emissions within the entire life cycle of the product. It is from here that the REVYVA Collection came into being. Vyva Fabrics unveils Revyva line Unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, the REVYVA Collection is made 100% from recycled polyester yarns, derived from used plastic bottles. The collection is flame retardant and, like the Hemp Collection, can be used internally and externally and is bleach and water resistant.

Produced in Europe the materials have a verified supply chain and save 94 percent of the water normally used, 64 percent of the energy and decreases 32 percent of CO2 emissions thanks to its innovative production process.

For Driessen, sustainability and the innovations they have uncovered with this new line is the future of the industry and a direction that they will continue to heavily invest. Currently the REVYVA Collection fabrics are available in three different colour groups, offering an array of options from yellows, pinks, blues and beyond, and other benefits of the recycled material mean that the fabric colouration and yarn is absolutely consistent throughout the material, something which can be an issue with natural weaves.Vyva Fabrics unveils Revyva line More and more, Vyva is  seeing requests from owners and clients for sustainable alternatives to the products previously used and the response to the new line has been very positive. “Our clients want to be more sustainable. For many, if a product is less than 70 percent recycled they don’t even want to consider it, and that shows a real development in the industry. We are excited to be introducing this new line that has all of the benefits of our other fabrics, with bleach, water and flame retardant qualities, but with the huge added benefit of also being impressively sustainable,” commented Driessen.

Vyva Fabrics will be exhibiting the new line, alongside its Hemp Collection and selection of yachting flooring and fabrics at the METSTRADE in Amsterdam, which runs from the 16th-18th of November. Visit their stand 02.128 or get in touch with the team now;
