Wally 130 undergoing sea trials

The brand new breakthrough Wally 130 confirmed the expectations of outstanding performance predicted on the development of the design. The 40 metre superyacht, characterised by the innovative combination of the water-ballast with the trim tab lifting keel, impressed everybody onboard during the sea trials.

Luca Bassani, Wally President and CEO, who steered the Wally 130 a few days ago, enthusiastically reported: “In eight knots of wind she is already very fast upwind and very stable: this new megayacht starts “asking” for the water ballast only above 10 knots of True Wind Speed!”.

“The cardan joint shaft drive steering system proved to be very direct making this 130 footer steerable like a racing 80 footer! “ continues Bassani “With the flat jib for heavy wind we were sailing close hauled upwind at 12 knots of speed measured by the GPS in only 9 knots of TWS.”

“The first sea trials seem to confirm that the Wally 130 truly is the only cruising yacht in the World - concludes Bassani - that can sail faster upwind than the maxi racer Alfa Romeo in the right wind conditions.”

The new Wally 130 will make her first public appearance at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, September 6-12. She will also be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show, September 23-26.
