It includes some Wally iconic features, such as the cockpit protected by the high bulwarks, the Terrace-on-the-sea and the raised saloon. Turkey-based builder <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6581" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="FDC Yachts (Company)">FDC Yachts</a> has unveiled the second model in the Aluna series, the 39-metre Aluna 127. The new Seadeck series from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/358" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Azimut Yachts (Company)">Azimut</a> is a range of family-oriented hybrid motoryachts that the Italian brand says will reduce C02 emissions by up to 40 percent over a year of average use compared to a traditional flybridge boat of similar dimensions. Comprising a 60-, 70- and 80-foot model, the first 60-foot unit will debut in 2024.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/261627/image/large-c9675d1f425a7d267c9e9fc604eec811.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/261627">From a technological standpoint, the Seadeck series is the culmination of Azimut’s 20-year drive to implement sustainable innovations. Over half of Azimut’s fleet is now made up of what the Italian builder terms Low Emission Yachts that reduce CO2 emissions ahead of the IMO’s 2030 deadline through a combination of three factors: weight reduction by extensive use of carbon fibre, efficient hull design and hybrid propulsion systems. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/261625/image/large-df9cf516adca64bad1766415ca5f1516.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/261625">“When we started work on the Seadeck project we asked ourselves what were the necessities required by more environmentally-conscious yachtsmen,” says Federico Lantero, head of product design at Azimut Yachts, during a press presentation in Milan under the slogan ‘Back to Nature’. “We identified three key points: we definitely had to reduce emissions; we had to introduce more sustainable materials; and we had to create a boat designed for family cruising that allowed those on board to enjoy the sea in a very direct and authentic way.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/261626/image/large-a9f9acdbf1b90d13e73ac801ca8528fc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/261626">In fact, the Seadeck will be powered by a Volvo Penta IPS hybrid system to target a 30 percent reduction in fuel consumption, over 40 per of the surface areas will be constructed of carbon fibre, and the planing hulls will be the most efficient ever built by Azimut. In Zero Emission Hotel Mode a battery pack will provide electrical power for amenities, stabilisation and even AC, for up 4 hours at anchor during the day or 8 hours at night with the generators switched off.Other eco-friendly features include solar panels to supplement the battery pack, hot water provided by recovering thermal energy from the main engines, &nbsp;and environmentally-friendly cork for the decking in place of teak. &nbsp;A smart energy management system ensures that in Eco Mode all the appliances and onboard systems consume as little energy as possible. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/261632/image/large-ea91b1a36b62d9b7b03edbeed9c8cd0e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/261632">Moreover, the new series introduces a new design concept in open-air living: the Fun Island, a space re-invented to offer a new way to spend family time on board immersed in nature. What gulets are to Turkey and Croatia, dhows are to the United Arab Emirates. Wrought with tradition with builds dating back aeons – the dhows are an integral part of UAE culture and heritage and are still widely used today. This tradition has spurred on a strange phenomenon: wooden dhow-inspired superyachts.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/262478/image/large-608b9781f319d0cefba1295d8e9e0f70.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/262478">The first dhows that danced across the Red Sea and Indian Ocean were much thinner than they are today. Over the years they’ve stretched and expanded to offer more volume and more stability, but originally they were incredibly slender, packed with goods, darting from port to port.Fisherman and pearl divers had different requirements and needed space to carry their equipment and daily catches. Importantly, they also needed space for more people. Boat Shows aren’t relevant for the shipyard’s marketing purposes either, as these wooden dhow-inspired superyachts are invariably single units and quite often the only one built and delivered by that particular shipyard.“There are a few boat builders in the UAE that would build one of these yachts, but the design rarely comes from their in-house team. The unnamed 50-metre Full Custom wooden superyacht was delivered in 2020 and undertook a maintenance appointment last year, which included a complete repaint with a high gloss clear coat. Henderson Marine International designed and engineered her.With a beam of 10.56, she’s a metre and a half wider than the average 50-metre motor yacht built after 2018. And once onboard it’s the first thing you notice. She can also host five crew in five cabins.When asked about the buying profile for this superyacht, Bret Noble of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4224" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bush & Noble (Company)">Bush &amp; Noble</a> anticipates the most attention from Qatar. "There are many well-built traditional dhows in the region," Noble explained. "Qatar is really the number one region for these boats. But they're also not an uncommon sight in and around the UAE. The 50-metre Full Custom superyacht is unique though and interesting for the Australasian market."&nbsp;The second largest known wooden superyacht is the 47.55-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4428" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tiger47.55m (156'0&quot;)Unknown2009">Tiger</a>, delivered in 2009 and currently berthed in Abu Dhabi.
