The first is a semi-open space of 320 square-meters on the main deck, with opening terraces, extendable to 400 square-meters, and with a gym and beach club aft. According to the Germany/China-based studio Lang-Ching is a bold combination of traditional Chinese aesthetics and modern yacht design ideas. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/269238/image/large-28e699dd7fb4cbf7e582fd30c8d39b59.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/269238">“The name Lang-Ching, Chinese written as 朗清舸, comes from a piece of well-known Chinese calligraphy work Lantingji Xu (兰亭集序/"Orchid Pavilion Preface"), which was written in the fourth century AD about a elegant party with celebrities. Work is well underway and proceeding on schedule for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/166" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally (Company)">Wally</a> to launch the first WHY200 hybrid superyacht, set to debut at the <a href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cannes Yachting Festival - 2021">Cannes Yachting Festival</a> in September. Due to be launched this month, the 27.03-metre WHY200 is a futuristic yacht design, created to offer up-to 50 percent more living space compared to other yachts of her size.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/199927/image/large-889a85959ea5a310f3b4d81d8314b9d7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/199927">WHY200 combines the comfort and space of a larger displacement yacht, with the speed and performance of a semi-displacement yacht. Her design was developed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/166" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally (Company)">Wally</a>’s in-house team led by Luca Bassani, in joint effort with the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4876" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ferretti Group (Company)">Ferretti Group</a> Engineering Department. She features naval architecture from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/357" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Laurent Giles Superyacht Architects (Company)">Laurent Giles</a> and interior styling from the boards of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/289" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Andrea Vallicelli (Company)">Studio A. Vallicelli &amp; C</a>.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/166" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally (Company)">Wally</a> Managing Director, Stefano de Vivo, commented, “WHY200 is a yacht that will stand out on the international scene for both the essential design that distinguishes <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/166" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally (Company)">Wally</a> yachts, and for its innovative concept, which can offer a different sailing experience to the owner. It is the ideal yacht to freely and safely regain possession of one’s space with family and friends.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/199926/image/large-ff8c5d678ce50ed71aca66948f08a375.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/199926">With the ability to sleep up-to eight guests, WHY200 combines functionality with a recognisable aesthetic to give an immersive experience on the water. She features a 4.7-metre glazed bow to house a 37 square-metre master suite overlooking the sea with uninterrupted 270-degree views. The master comes with two separate bathrooms on the main deck, while her VIP and two double staterooms are on the lower deck. A novel one-piece laminated carbon staircase connects her three decks, while her 61 square-metre open-plan living area is enhanced by teak furniture. Her walkways and lower deck corridors are also teak. The teak is complimented by a natural colour palette of neutral and sandy tones to create a timeless aesthetic. Her upper deck has a futuristic glass and carbon dome and an extended structural top with no supporting pillars, to give extra space.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/199928/image/large-1cb43585aa142fc1cd1087a6e493fd63.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/199928">With a strong focus on guests experiencing the sea, WHY200 includes a folding beach club with access to the sea via three sides of the yacht. It folds out to expand the living area to 32 square-metres, transforming it into a terrace over the water. She has two tender garages, capable of housing a 4-metre tender, waverunner, seabob, paddleboard and more toys.WHY200 is powered by four <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5350" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Volvo Penta (Company)">Volvo Penta</a> D-13 IPS 1350 engines, giving her a top speed of 23 knots.
