In late March 2025, <a href="https://sytiq.superyachttimes.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">SuperYacht iQ</a> will release the 10th edition of its annual market report, The State of Yachting. Here is a sneak peek at some key data from the upcoming report.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/304581/image/large-3d2f28597b4ac5981aeebfd08c1f4ffe.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/304581">The sales market – has it come full circle?Over 2024, we recorded 195 new yacht sales and 305 used yacht sales over 30-metres. These numbers indicate a continued decline following the record year of 2021. However, this downturn may have levelled off, as the figures for 2024 are only about 3 to 5% lower than those of 2023. Additionally, the Republican election victory in the United States in late 2024 appears to have given the key US market a strong start to 2025.When we examine sales figures since 2019, we see that the used yacht market hit a low point in 2019, while for new yachts, this occurred in the COVID-19 year of 2020. During that period, clients were eager to get on the water quickly with a used yacht rather than wait several years for a new-build.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/348673/image/large-ea95b92350042126d3798e44a2687f6b.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/348673">While new yacht sales have slowed somewhat and new yacht completions reached a record level in 2024, the Construction Book – the total number of yachts over 30-metres in build, whether sold or not – remains largely unchanged as of early 2025, at 692 yachts. This stability is mainly due to an increase in speculative yacht projects started in 2024 compared to previous years. This trend is also reflected in the rise of in-build yachts for sale, which increased by 31 units to 219 as of early 2025, representing 32% of the Construction Book. Just a year earlier, this share stood at 25%. Meanwhile, the number of speculative new builds sold during 2024 was higher than in 2023, with 74 yachts sold compared to 67 the previous year.The market for used yachts also saw a slight increase in the number of yachts available for sale. However, the percentage increase was modest, rising from 18% of the operating fleet in early 2024 to 19% a year later – still a relatively low share. The last time the share of available used yachts was higher was in early 2022, when it stood at 21%.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/348642/image/large-22d221ba3b0329af0b8f07f558c11f94.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/348642">Record year for new yacht deliveries2024 saw a significant number of new yacht deliveries (or completions, as we prefer to call them). A total of 228 yachts over 30-metres were delivered to their owners or debuted at yacht shows as available stock boats. This is the highest number recorded since the peak in 2008, when 259 new yachts were completed. Shipyards and supply chains have ramped up capacity to meet the surge in orders placed in 2021 and 2022, yielding strong results.In 2023, deliveries surpassed the 200 mark for the first time since 2010, and the industry’s output exceeded expectations in 2024. A large number of yachts in the Construction Book have a tentative delivery date of 2025. After adjusting for unsold speculative projects and delays, we estimate around 210 new yacht completions for 2025.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/340524/image/large-bc237505ad48a379cd77990a74000cf1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/340524">Zooming in on sizesSales in the key 30–40-metre segment continued their post-2021 decline. By the end of 2024, sales in this category were down 48% from the record levels of 2021. With 92 new yachts sold, sales in 2024 were on par with 2020, before the market surged.&nbsp;Meanwhile, new yacht sales in the 40–50-metre segment bucked the downward trend, with 58 yachts sold – well above pre-COVID levels, suggesting this segment has grown in popularity.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/348638/image/large-3749f3dc6ddce51ecc8dc6fe38eabf63.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/348638">In the 50–60-metre range, new yacht sales have remained stable at 18–20 per year since 2022. In 2024, we recorded 20 new yacht sales, while used yacht sales in this category also remained steady at 21.Interestingly, sales in the 60–80-metre segment follow a similar pattern to the 30–40-metre category. In 2024, 12 new yachts were sold, marking a 50% decline from 2021, when 26 new yachts were delivered. The last time sales were this low was in 2020, when they also stood at 12 units. This suggests the 60–80-metre segment has come full circle. Used yacht sales in this category totalled 20 in 2024, down from a peak of 28 in 2023 but up from a low of 15 in 2022.The market for yachts over 80-metres presents a more positive outlook. In 2024, 13 new yachts were sold, including four resales of in-build yachts – an improvement from 2023, when only seven were sold. Furthermore, the average size of new builds in this category increased significantly, with 2024’s new yachts averaging 101-metres and over 4,500 Gross Tonnes (GT), compared to 90-metres and just over 3,000 GT in 2023.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/4153/image/large-c487cd577964bd43212a0e3f4aa5c672.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/4153">Conversely, used yacht sales in the over-80-metre category had a weaker year, with just six sales recorded – the lowest since 2020, when the same number of sales were reported.The league tableWhen we break down new build sales for 2024 by length segment and country of construction, some interesting trends emerge. Notably, Finland has reappeared in the rankings with six new sailing yacht sales in the 30–40-metre range. While studying Business Economics at Groningen University, I was part of the Dutch Olympic team in the Flying Dutchman class. To support my sailing, I began trading sailboats.After university, I joined Shell as an oil trader, living and working across Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean. Sailing became a weekend pursuit. Following the Gulf War – during which I spent five months as a ‘guest’ of Saddam Hussein while serving as GM of Shell Kuwait – I left Shell and took on a global marketing and sales role at Philips. However, the constant relocations began to wear thin. By forty, I realised my true passion lay in boats.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/333483/image/large-d34e2731df7d8e20bfd64885082905cd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/333483">In 2001, I left the corporate world and launched Antaris, a yard specialising in fibreglass dayboats and cruisers. Focused on functionality through innovation, we became market leader in the Netherlands by 2008, producing 300 boats annually. After merging with Maril and Makma to form Aquatec Industries – which captured over 50% market share – I sold the company in search of a new challenge, and founded <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler Yachts</a>.The vision was bold: steel yachts that were twice as fast, twice as elegant, and fully custom-built. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler</a> launched strongly in 2010, but the financial crisis soon hit, shrinking the steel yacht market by 60%. We pivoted, aiming to compete with leading producers of fast fibreglass yachts. In collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman (Company)">Royal Huisman</a>, we introduced the NG43 Offshore – our first aluminium planing motoryacht. This highly efficient, custom-built vessel won the 2016 European Powerboat of the Year award, making <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler</a> the first Dutch yard to triumph in this competitive category.When you founded&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler Yachts</a>&nbsp;in 2010, what gap in the market were you aiming to fill and how has that vision evolved?At the time, steel motoryachts had a poor reputation – slow, boxy, and standardised, often likened to “caravans on the water.” Buyers had little room for personalisation, which felt entirely at odds with the investment required.Steeler was created to change that. From the outset, our philosophy was simple: we don’t sell yachts – we build exactly what each client needs. Full customisation became our cornerstone. Working with designer Martin Bekebrede, we launched the NG series – a platform combining timeless design with exceptional space utilisation. No two builds are alike, and we’ve delivered 110 unique motoryachts to date.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/289732/image/large-f411ceaa0c583f40202a4fd04ed2fab5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/289732">We also challenged performance expectations. Instead of limiting clients to inland cruising speeds, we designed yachts capable of 10 to 15 knots – ideal for both rivers and coastal waters. As the market responded, recognition followed, with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler</a> receiving awards and nominations almost every year since 2011. In 2013, we collaborated with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman (Company)">Royal Huisman</a> to develop our first aluminium planing yacht, the NG43 Offshore. Its exceptional efficiency and handling won the European Powerboat of the Year award in 2016 – the first Dutch yard to do so in the production-dominated category.Our move into aluminium planing yachts expanded the concept further. Aluminium offered strength, efficiency, and stability – a compelling alternative to mass-produced fibreglass yachts. Though more costly to build, the result was a better yacht.While our client-first approach mirrors that of Dutch superyacht builders, it’s rare in the 50 to 100-foot segment. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler</a> now attracts owners seeking a more private, lower-maintenance alternative to larger yachts – without compromising on quality. Many describe us as a “barn find” in the market.With the acquisition of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4784" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Holterman Shipyard (Company)">Holterman Shipyard</a> and sixteen yachts currently in build – a record for us – we’re focused on growing global recognition for a boutique shipyard offering a superyacht experience on a smaller scale.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/364028/image/large-0e792fcc12257b4de507d414c7f5749a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/364028">What were some of the biggest challenges in scaling a brand that prioritises bespoke craftsmanship?The main challenges have been twofold. First, limited resources for global marketing have made it difficult to reach our niche audience – highly discerning clients who often don’t know about us until they “discover” <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler</a>. Fortunately, once they do, our 99% customer loyalty since 2010 speaks volumes.Second, inflation presents risks during our typical two-year build cycle. This requires a foundation of trust and transparency with clients to navigate unexpected cost fluctuations together.What sets&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler Yachts</a>&nbsp;apart in a highly competitive industry?In the 50 to 100-foot segment, our proposition is unique: full customisation, innovative design, personal service, and top-tier craftsmanship. While we lack economies of scale, this is precisely why our clients choose us – for our boutique approach and relentless focus on exceeding expectations.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/296260/image/large-4bbf4f4afa92522d93f1c06411993556.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/296260">What led to the decision to acquire&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4784" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Holterman Shipyard (Company)">Holterman</a>&nbsp;– and why now?A surge in orders for our Ocean Explorer, Enigma, Ace 59, Supersport, and S-lines created a capacity bottleneck at our yard in Steenwijk. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4784" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Holterman Shipyard (Company)">Holterman</a>, just ten minutes away, had the space, skilled team, and shared values – many of their staff even had previous ties to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5726" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steeler Yachts (Company)">Steeler</a>.Although the bankruptcy was traumatic for the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4784" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Holterman Shipyard (Company)">Holterman</a> team, the transition was smooth. Production in Meppel, the Netherlands has resumed at full strength, with both teams now working seamlessly together. Initially, there was natural rivalry – we had been competitors for years. But through open dialogue, shared vision, and simply working side-by-side, that tension quickly turned into mutual respect. Francesca Webster recently had the chance to visit Indonesia’s Raja Ampat and explore this untouched region aboard the spectacular Dewata with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7638" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pacific High (Company)">Pacific High</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363897/image/large-8c405b14d0c9b90bcc2b00c42cd27d97.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363897">Recognised as one of the world’s last frontiers, it is no surprise that Raja Ampat was recently named among National Geographic's top travel destinations for 2025. Comprising over 600 spectacular islands, the archipelago sits within the famous Coral Triangle, and is home to over 70 percent of the world’s marine fauna and flora. It is, however, not a destination for the faint of heart. Sitting to the far east of Indonesia, on the western peninsula of Papua New Guinea, travellers face a long journey over land and sea to reach its aquamarine shores. What awaits those who make the journey however, is a lush and magnificently unspoilt world, both over and below the water, making it a haven for scuba divers and birders alike. One of the great advantages of it being so hard to get to, of course, is that Raja Ampat sees only a tiny portion of Indonesia’s annual tourism, making it one of the most attractive destinations for superyacht owners and charter guests, particularly those looking to explore the region in solitude.&nbsp;Like many other regions of Asia, Indonesia has strict regulations when it comes to superyacht charter and the commercial vessels operating in Raja Ampat must be Indonesian flagged. What makes it unique, is that the vast majority of vessels on the water are also traditional in their styling, built in the Indonesian Phinisi style, meaning that very few contemporary boats can be found on the water, replaced instead by the wooden hulls and twin masts of the UNESCO recognised vessels. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363902/image/large-13f381f345a8da0d9ea2b7405f2b87b7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363902">For those seeking an authentic Phinisi sailing experience, few offerings rival the yachts crafted by Pacific High. Built in accordance with time-honoured traditions in South Sulawesi, northern Indonesia, these vessels are the result of meticulous craftsmanship and cultural reverence. Founded in Bira in 2018 by Yann Martinie de Maisonneuve, together with partners Peter and Charlotte Gaslgaard, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7638" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pacific High (Company)">Pacific High</a> has, to date, completed three stunning yachts – Nataraja, Dewata, and Senja – with the fourth, the 36-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/13781" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sanya33.0m (108'3&quot;)Pacific High2025">Sanya</a>, slated for delivery in August this year. They are also due to begin construction on another 44-metre and 54-metre this year, which will join the charter fleet in 2027.&nbsp;Each yacht is constructed at the company’s 5,600-square-metre beachside facility, nestled among palm trees and capable of accommodating up to four builds simultaneously. Here, traditional Phinisi techniques are thoughtfully combined with modern technologies, resulting in vessels that are as technically accomplished as they are timeless.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363901/image/large-fa9f83cdb2e9e43fc87622797cfcfc65.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363901">Over the past seven years, Yann has drawn on his deep-rooted expertise in maritime operations and Phinisi craftsmanship, going back over 16 years, to bring these remarkable yachts to life. His unwavering dedication to preserving Indonesia’s seafaring heritage is reflected in every detail – a harmonious blend of age-old artistry and contemporary luxury. Complementing this vision is <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7638" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pacific High (Company)">Pacific High</a>’s specialist design team, which works closely with clients to transform personal visions into bespoke realities, delivering vessels that are both functional and profoundly individual.During a recent visit to Indonesia I was lucky enough to step aboard Dewata and experience the unmatched Indonesian hospitality for myself, here is an insight into our charter;Cruising with DewataWhile many yacht charters in Raja Ampat begin in Sorong – the bustling capital on the Papua mainland – we were fortunate to embark in Waisai, located on the island of Waigeo. From the moment we spotted her from the shore, the yacht stood out effortlessly with her distinctive blue hull and a warm welcome from her eleven-strong crew awaiting our arrival.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363903/image/large-2e77f2ae9a235115fae09531c155be21.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363903">Crafted from traditional Indonesian ironwood, her aesthetic is a seamless blend of timeless elegance and local craftsmanship. Her layout spans two principal decks, thoughtfully arranged for both comfort and style. At the fore of the main deck, a sheltered lounge provides a breezy, shaded retreat, while a central dining space offers the perfect setting for relaxed breakfasts and leisurely lunches. Towards the aft, two generously proportioned double staterooms with en suite bathrooms await – each boasting a shower with what must surely be one of the finest views over the water. This section of the deck also includes a private terrace with an alfresco dining area and sun lounge. Cleverly designed, the entire aft can be closed off to create an exclusive owner’s deck, offering privacy and direct access to the swim platform.Above, the upper deck delivers the best vantage point onboard. Shaded sunloungers invite guests to take in panoramic views – especially mesmerising while crossing the Dampier Strait, a world-renowned migratory route for whales and dolphins. In the evenings, this deck transforms into an open-air dining space, where lights strung between the masts cast a warm glow, setting the stage for sunset cocktails and starlit dinners.The interior has been designed to instantly relax her guests, with beautiful linens and local fabrics used for the furnishings and the traditional wood holding place as the cornerstone of the design.An adventurers paradise&nbsp;As passionate scuba divers, both my husband and I were thrilled by the opportunity to dive directly from the vessel – a privilege that elevated the entire charter experience. The presence of a knowledgeable dive master onboard opened the door to some of the region’s most secluded and pristine sites, often untouched by other visitors. Each morning began with the anticipation of a new underwater adventure, thoughtfully planned with the crew, who provided beautifully illustrated dive site diagrams to ensure we were well-prepared for the unique conditions and features of each location.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/363900/image/large-f1ebb66ca3ad25ebed8bd89543e7a7e9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/363900">We explored a number of iconic dive sites, including the extraordinary Melissa’s Garden – renowned for its vibrant coral garden spread across a submerged reef, showcasing some of the healthiest and most diverse hard coral formations in the region. Cape Kri was another highlight, holding the world record for the highest number of fish species spotted on a single dive – over 350 in total. Alongside these celebrated destinations, we also had the privilege of visiting a number of lesser-known spots, which were, almost without exception, completely deserted apart from ourselves.Perhaps the most unforgettable moment came when we had the rare chance to dive with oceanic manta rays – not just once, but on multiple occasions. It was a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Developing on its success in the fishing sector, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine</a> shifted tack and began building hardy, luxury expedition yachts capable of taking owners all around the world, with a particular focus on custom builds from the mid 1980s onwards. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/362540/image/large-6662c75bde9df924222b42c1c3208efd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/362540">Fast forward to 2025, and the yard continues to be owned and operated by the Jones family, with over 600 vessels across the commercial and private sectors delivered to date, including 52 yachts. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine</a> is particularly well-known for its expertise in composite construction, having delivered numerous notable all-composite yachts. This includes the first over 100’, the 32-metre John Schubert-designed <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3409" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Penelope35.66m (116'12&quot;)Delta Marine1990">Princess Gloria</a> in 1990, now known as <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3409" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Penelope35.66m (116'12&quot;)Delta Marine1990">Penelope</a>, which underwent an extensive refit at the yard in 2008 to boost her exterior spaces, as well as extending her to 35.6 metres. &nbsp; <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine’s</a> Vice President, Michelle Jones, explains more: “The composite construction techniques pioneered for our early fishing fleet have evolved considerably over the last 50 years. We are currently producing yachts using an advanced composite process called vacuum resin infusion that rivals the aerospace industry’s latest techniques for building structures with ultra-high strength-to-weight ratios. &nbsp;She continues: “This enables greater performance, whether through higher speeds, longer range, or increased efficiency. This is particularly prevalent in our latest custom 110’ yacht series, where building lightweight is paramount to performance.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/358812/image/large-feb6ca25092c5a218872018fc533695c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/358812">The first in this custom yacht series touched water in May, the 110’ (33.53 metre) motor yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/12550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Vagabond33.53m (110'0&quot;)Delta Marine2025">Vagabond</a>. Built entirely in-house, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/12550" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Vagabond33.53m (110'0&quot;)Delta Marine2025">Vagabond’s</a>&nbsp;brand new hull platform is <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta’s</a> first to be wholly designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and is optimised for long-range efficiency and high performance. &nbsp;Created in response to what Jones describes as a “growing demand for fully custom yachts in the 110-125 foot range”, although Vagabond was designed as custom yacht for a specific owner – a family of experienced boaters looking to explore the Pacific Northwest and beyond with minimal crew – its flexible platform will be used as foundation for future <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta</a> builds. This can be tailored to suit a wide range of performance goals and lifestyles. To name just one example: “We’ve been working with an Italian studio on a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta</a> 125’ longtail – a striking design that’s sure to turn heads when we unveil her in the coming months,” explains Jones.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/358808/image/large-52c87d2852ba20404f647d3a2758bd6e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/358808">Indeed, despite being proud of its formidable in-house design team, increasing its collaborations with external designers fits <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta’s</a> broader effort to integrate new ideas and voices into its future design process.“We believe there’s a real opportunity to blend <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta’s</a> American craftsmanship with European design,” Jones highlights. &nbsp;On the subject of global reach, although <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta</a> markets itself globally, the majority of its clients hail from the US. “Many of our clients are based in the US, and we’ve found that the American market aligns well with our approach”, says Jones. Commissioned by owners with a passion for adventure and exploration – and who are also licensed pilots and certified submarine operators to boot – <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine</a> was tasked with creating a yacht capable of supporting aerial and underwater exploration, alongside the more typical wellness and entertainment requirements. Many of our owners are explorers at heart. Designing at this scale is all about precision and clarity, you need to make every line count, every material needs to work harder, not only aesthetically, but functionally too.”The result is an ambitious 454 GT platform that packs immense volume and design sophistication into a sub-50-metre length. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/11559" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Go45.0m (147'8&quot;)Tankoa Yachts S.p.A.2024">Go’s</a> American owner pushed the limits of the original brief, increasing the yacht’s gross tonnage from 430GT and working closely with the shipyard and design team to customise every inch.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/361747/image/large-76568f530c496a1ccf442b64abba2576.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/361747">“The layout was perfected to the owner’s needs and wishes and is more than ever coherent and connected to the exterior design and outfitting,” Cassetta explained. “The result is a minimalistic yet striking interior that will certainly turn heads with its understated elegance.”Onboard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/11559" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Go45.0m (147'8&quot;)Tankoa Yachts S.p.A.2024">Go</a>, that coherence is immediately felt. Step into the main saloon and you are surrounded by light. Floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides creates 270-degree views of the surrounding seascape. After verifying from our very first proposals that the design concept we had in mind was perfectly aligned with his desires, he entrusted us with this task with total confidence. Costa Rica: Exploring nature’s paradise with La Dea II

Sophie Spicknell talks with Captain Wayne Torrance of the 49.07-metre Trinity superyacht La Dea II to find out more about the wonders of Costa Rica.

Nearly ninety-four years after her launch, the classic motorsailer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/260" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Atlantide37.28m (122'4&quot;)Philip & Sons1930">Atlantide</a> has been relaunched following a meticulous rebuild by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman (Company)">Royal Huisman</a>'s <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7286" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Huisfit (Company)">Huisfit</a> division. The 37.28-metre motor sailor has rejoined the global fleet with numerous technological advancements, while maintaining her historic aesthetic, but the scope of her refit far exceeded her owner's original expectations. Acquired by her new owner, the serial yacht owner Jim Clark, who also owns the J Class <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/384" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hanuman42.1m (138'1&quot;)Royal Huisman2009">Hanuman</a>, in 2020, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/260" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Atlantide37.28m (122'4&quot;)Philip & Sons1930">Atlantide</a> arrived at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman (Company)">Huisman</a> in 2021 for a year-long refit. Upon arrival at the yard, however, it became clear that the historic yacht was desperately in need of a major reconstruction. Fortunately, Jim and his wife were willing to undertake this transformation and the yacht has now been relaunched in beyond original standard.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/337624/image/large-075e9ca96b35e6396237348e601ce584.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/337624">The refit team had not seen the yacht out of the water before her arrival, leaving the full scope of the project undetermined. Once <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/260" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Atlantide37.28m (122'4&quot;)Philip & Sons1930">Atlantide</a> was hauled into the yard, however, a troubling discovery quickly emerged – what appeared to be a crack in the hull. Concerned, the craftsmen began a careful inspection, probing and chiselling at the gap. Relief came as chunks of material fell away to reveal not damaged steel but an unexpected layer of filler – in some places, nearly two inches thick. While the revelation was less catastrophic than feared, it highlighted the extent of the restoration challenge ahead.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/337592/image/large-8c1cc33d61c214098235288034c684b9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/337592"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/260" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Atlantide37.28m (122'4&quot;)Philip & Sons1930">Atlantide</a>, launched in 1930 as Caleta, has a long and storied history, not least as an integral member of Operation Dynamo, the Dunkirk evacuation of June 1940. Designed by famed Scottish yacht designer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/239" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="A. Mylne & Co (Company)">Alfred Mylne</a>, she was originally built to serve as tender to Sir William Burton's 12-metre racing yacht. Though compact, she carried a full sail plan, reaching speeds of seven knots under sail. During the Second World War, Caleta was pressed into service for the Royal Navy, playing a valiant role as one of the "Little Ships of Dunkirk." Braving enemy fire, she rescued 35 soldiers during the nine-day operation and earned the right to fly the distinguished St. George’s Cross.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/25401/image/large-325f4572e084ac23f7dc6b83f87c5f48.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/25401">Post-war, she began a new chapter as Ariane, sailing to the Mediterranean after a two-year refit at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/270" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Vosper Thornycroft (Company)">Vosper Thorneycroft</a>. Under various owners and names, including Corisande and later <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/260" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Atlantide37.28m (122'4&quot;)Philip & Sons1930">Atlantide</a>, she became synonymous with glamour, gracing ports from Antibes to New England. A significant refit under the ownership of Tom Perkins in 1999 saw her transformed with Art Deco interiors and a gleaming new superstructure. Yet, despite her illustrious career, the passage of time took its toll, setting the stage for her comprehensive rebuild at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman (Company)">Royal Huisman</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/337632/image/large-c2651265f12a73f605c8c3fca9328afc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/337632">During the course of two years, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7286" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Huisfit (Company)">Huisfit</a> replaced approximately 40 percent of the yacht's hull, deck and frames, overhauling her systems, including her original Gardner diesel engines, and completed a complete interior refit. For six months the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7286" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Huisfit (Company)">Huisfit</a> team scanned, studied and redesigned the yacht in 3D, ensuring that her new systems and interior configurations maximised the potential volumes, while introducing contemporary technology. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/337634/image/large-5a856f619b3607db27a82f0d9dbf61e8.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/337634">The yacht's exterior profile has remained true to her post-war silhouette, while her interiors were redesigned with a refined 1930s aesthetic by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="deVosdeVries design (Company)">deVosdeVries Design</a>, complemented by the artistry of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/8176" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Acanthus International (Company)">Acanthus International</a>. Her owners were determined to retain her and return her to her aesthetic, but they wanted to simplify the styling, removing much of the more elaborate Art Deco touches favoured by Tom Perkins. The Clarks briefed a less ornate 1930’s style, married with the look of Hanuman’s classic interior that was created by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Huisman (Company)">Royal Huisman</a>’s artisans in French walnut. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/337629/image/large-9311e5e7dbdfbfac73322b2c23c593a6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/337629">While owner's suite and guest VIP stateroom aft have retained their original configuration, their styling has been dramatically redesigned, while the saloon and media room offer casual spaces for modern living. The saloon features a shallow coffered ceiling style – updated from the lacquered tongue-and-groove panels installed during the 1999 refit, alongside french-polish straight grain walnut joinery, creating a classic 1930s styling. Atlantide reborn: Behind the rebuild of the historic motor yacht

The Asia-Pacific region is increasingly attracting superyachts. This is evident in the latest figures in the <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/market-reports/asia-pacific-superyacht-market-report-2024" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">2024 Asia-Pacific Superyacht Market report</a>, which recorded a 20% increase in visits by yachts over 30-metres since 2022. Annually, more than 400 superyachts have frequented the region over the past two years.As the influx of superyachts continues, the demand for high-quality refit facilities has become increasingly pressing. In February 2024, Giorgio Campini, owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/8175" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tecnopool (Company)">Tecnopool</a>, alongside two Thai investors, established a major refit centre in Phuket - the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/8078" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Phuket Superyacht Shipyard (Company)">Phuket Superyacht Shipyard</a> - to cater to this rising demand. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/357189/image/large-7ee656f0fe00349626018caedbf3cdf1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/357189">What led to your involvement in establishing a refit facility in Phuket, Thailand?First and foremost, we established the Visun Tuscany refit shipyard in Sanya, in the Hainan province of China back in 2012, in partnership with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7644" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Navigo Yachts (Company)">Navigo</a>. This venture gave me a deep familiarity with the Asian market. Subsequently, we planned to develop another shipyard in Shenzhen, directly across from Hong Kong. We had surveyed the area, but the project was halted when the Chinese government intervened to review all concessions. Moreover, the advent of COVID and the increasing complexities in China led us to withdraw. Despite these challenges, we maintained collaborative relationships with regional stakeholders. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/357188/image/large-86d7b7e5144ea58835542698328d57ed.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/357188">Then, two Thai families from Bangkok, who already owned facilities for commercial ships, sought me out. They had the land and were eager to collaborate in establishing a refit yard, having already begun its construction. During the process, they had realised the need for someone with experience in developing shipyards. They had heard of me through their inquiries in China for a European expert experienced in this industry who could assist with this project.We initiated the project on a new site, constructing a shipyard equipped with an 820-tonne crane, situated in a lush green area near Phuket <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/3209" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Yacht Haven Marina (Company)">Yacht Haven Marina</a>. We opted to focus on larger vessels up to 60-metres, as the area already had refit facilities for smaller yachts. Subsequently, we completed construction and inaugurated the site in February 2024. We have since signed collaboration contracts with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/374" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sanlorenzo (Company)">Sanlorenzo</a>, and have received about 15 yachts since the yard’s inception.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/357186/image/large-298e08b34fbc3e5c452c2cc3e1ab9551.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/357186">Could you elaborate on the key challenges encountered during the establishment of this facility?The challenge lies in convincing the local community and demonstrating that this represents an opportunity – particularly for Phuket's political and social stakeholders – to promote community development and create employment opportunities for the youth. As a result, there is a significant push for us to establish a vocational school, which we are developing in partnership with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7644" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Navigo Yachts (Company)">Navigo</a>. We are also in dialogue with the Minister of Labour to advance this initiative.Furthermore, an entire ecosystem needs to be built, encompassing both relationships and business networks. The challenges are often similar when developing yards in regions lacking well-established infrastructure, yet the people here are exceptionally willing and pleasant to collaborate with.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/357191/image/large-c4866accb7e54044e9e44c7035c9074d.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/357191">How do you ensure that the refit quality standards at the facility match those of Europe, given the logistical challenges of operating in a different region?The first and most delicate operation a shipyard undertakes is the hauling and launching of vessels, which forms the foundation of the process. When a yacht is handled, we ensure it is done to European standards. The equipment we use, such as the travel lift, is from Cimolai, the best in the world. Moreover, the operations are performed by Italian personnel we’ve sent to Phuket, who now live and work there, further ensuring adherence to European standards.Everything else - from the mechanical workshops we are still completing to the layout design of the yard itself, including protections, layout, and construction methods - is modelled after the shipyards we’ve built in Europe. For example, I’ve worked at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/681" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Marine (Company)">Monaco Marine</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a>, and other facilities, so the standards of this shipyard replicate those of leading European yards. Moreover, we aim to have all procedures certified by a classification society. We are in contact with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7911" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's (Company)">Lloyd’s</a> or <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1453" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ABS (Company)">ABS</a>, as certification is essential to ensuring the quality of our processes.It’s also important to note that the approach to work here is more relaxed compared to Europe. While we are making progress, things take a bit more time due to a less demanding pace than what we are accustomed to in Europe.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/357187/image/large-78a38caff71b180c03e8ce3b7f85a600.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/357187">What led to the decision to cater specifically to yachts up to 60-metres in length, rather than accommodating larger vessels?Observing the yachts in the area, we noticed they were becoming increasingly larger. As there were no machines available of this kind - no travel lifts of this size, no docks, or similar facilities - we decided to aim higher. Additionally, having a large travel lift doesn’t mean we can’t handle 25-metre yachts; it provides flexibility and enables us to work on larger vessels. In fact, we have already worked on yachts ranging from 50 to 60-metres.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/357192/image/large-242e7856c959c5298d72d1dac2ae2230.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/357192">Since its recent inauguration, how has the facility performed, and what are your strategic goals and projections for growth in the refit market across the Southeast Asian region?We have just opened, and naturally, our focus is on growth, specifically aiming to double our capacity in the coming year. Discussions about this potential expansion are ongoing. My primary role is to ensure that this facility becomes a benchmark in the refit market, not just for Thailand but for the entire Southeast Asian region, including places like Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.The market is evolving as more owners from the Asian region - not just Westerners - are seeking high-quality refit centres for their yachts. While the studio’s name has become synonymous with major Italian motor yacht brands such as <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/361" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ferretti Yachts (Company)">Ferretti</a>, due to the iconic designs of yachts like the 66-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4385" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Okto66.4m (217'10&quot;)ISA Yachts2014">Okto</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/289" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Studio Vallicelli Design (Company)">Studio Vallicelli Design</a>’s history is deeply rooted in the high-performance Italian sailing yacht sector. Founded and led in the 1970s by architect and professor Andrea Vallicelli, the studio has completed over 170 projects, around 50 of which are in the plus-24-metre segment and just under 40 of those are motor yachts.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/348672/image/large-d20250b7e7f7e494b366a4b446f4868e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/348672">In 1976, the studio launched its first yachts, the 38-foot sailing yachts Gattone and Ziggurat, designed in collaboration with Carlo Alberto Tiberio. Gattone, the first hull of the V-Cat 38 series, raced in the 1976 One Ton Cup and established the studio as a player within the regatta circuit, a reputation reinforced by Ziggurat’s subsequent success. Over the following years, the studio went on to design consecutive winners, building on their reputation before eventually being chosen to design Italy’s first America’s Cup challenger, Azzurra. Designed for the 1983 Cup, Azzurra&nbsp;was a very fast 12m SI, and her build created a major buzz throughout the Italian and international sailing industries, with the yacht making it to the semi-finals against Britain’s Victory, designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/35" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dubois Naval Architects Ltd. (Company)">Ed Dubois</a>.Despite not winning the Cup, Azzurra returned to Italy to major acclaim and firmly rooted <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/289" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Studio Vallicelli Design (Company)">Vallicelli Design</a> as a household name in the sector. In the following years, the studio continued to design racing yachts, before moving into the cruising segment during the 1980s. The studio’s entrance to the motor yacht segment came a little later, initially working with the Italian military for small patrol vessels in the 1990s, until a lucky introduction to the Italian shipyard ISA opened up an entirely new sector to the studio. After an initial introduction, the studio was tasked with designing a new series for the yard, which became the 36.45- metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a> 120.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/337647/image/large-30eb5056fdc692805ec745ad1a48a673.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/337647">A highly successful model, with 11 hulls launched between 2005 and 2017, the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a> 120 was the studio’s gateway into the motor yacht sector, and the beginning of a close-knit relationship between the shipyard and the studio that has endured to this day. It was the Italian shipyard, in fact, that built the studio’s first full-custom superyacht, the 63-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1691" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Kolaha63.0m (206'8&quot;)ISA Yachts2010">Kolaha</a>, launched in 2010. During this time, the team were also developing <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a>’s next-generation series, the 50- metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a> 500, amidst a number of custom and semi-custom projects.The most notable collaboration between the two companies undertaken during the 2010s was <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4385" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Okto66.4m (217'10&quot;)ISA Yachts2014">Okto</a>. The 66-metre superyacht, with her black hull, aft deck pool and dramatic sweeping lines, made a major splash in the industry and remains one of the studio’s most recognisable yachts to date.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/113465/image/large-22c2ddb8d0c83b8426a8d795f1f18b22.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/113465">Speaking on the development of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4385" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Okto66.4m (217'10&quot;)ISA Yachts2014">Okto</a>, Andrea Vallicelli explained, “Over the years, we designed a series of steel-hulled motor yachts with aluminium superstructures, between 40 and 70- metres in length, for the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a> boatyard. The most significant was <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4385" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Okto66.4m (217'10&quot;)ISA Yachts2014">Okto</a>.” <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4385" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Okto66.4m (217'10&quot;)ISA Yachts2014">Okto</a>’s success is felt by the studio even today, with the team currently working on a new full-custom 66-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a> based on her design, due for delivery in 2026. While the shipyard has been a major supporter of the studio over the years, their portfolio extends well beyond <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a>, and their current fleet of in-build yachts clearly demonstrates this. Not only are there three different <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/166" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally (Company)">Wally</a> WHY series currently in-build, featuring interiors from the team, but they are also building a custom 80-metre at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/224" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Turquoise Yachts (Company)">Turquoise</a>, Project Bravo, after the successful <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5994" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Roe73.6m (241'6&quot;)Turquoise Yachts2022">ROE</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/8446" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Infinite Jest 75.0m (246'1&quot;)Turquoise Yachts2023">Infinite Jest</a>, and an 86- metre, Project 144 at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN (Company)">CRN</a>.Alessandro Nazareth, partner and CEO, explains how the relationship began with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN (Company)">CRN</a>, “Our collaboration started six or seven years ago while working with a private client who was searching for a shipyard to build a yacht. We approached various shipyards in Italy, including <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN (Company)">CRN</a>, just as they were undergoing a management change. Stefano de Vivo, whom I hadn’t met before, reviewed our portfolio and liked one of our designs, a 70-metre yacht, which evolved into <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN (Company)">CRN</a> 139, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/8096" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Njoy72.26m (237'1&quot;)CRN2024">Njoy</a>, launched last year. Our relationship with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN (Company)">CRN</a> has since grown, and we’re now working together on new designs.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/303812/image/large-f57833810268990d5adf7e42d1ae67d6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/303812">Like their relationship with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN (Company)">CRN</a>, the studio has developed a close collaboration with the Turkish shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/224" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Turquoise Yachts (Company)">Turquoise</a>, with whom they are currently working on the 79.99-metre Project Bravo. The 73.6-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5994" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Roe73.6m (241'6&quot;)Turquoise Yachts2022">ROE</a>, launched in 2021, is the first project born from the collaboration, which was swiftly followed by the 75- metre I<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/8446" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Infinite Jest 75.0m (246'1&quot;)Turquoise Yachts2023">nfinite Jest</a> in 2023. While <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5994" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Roe73.6m (241'6&quot;)Turquoise Yachts2022">ROE</a> has remained a highly private yacht, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/8446" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Infinite Jest 75.0m (246'1&quot;)Turquoise Yachts2023">Infinite Jest</a> has been widely publicised since her launch, with her owners setting out on an incredibly ambitious maiden voyage that took them from Turkey, all the way to Antarctica and beyond. Alessandro adds, “After the quiet launches of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5994" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Roe73.6m (241'6&quot;)Turquoise Yachts2022">ROE</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/8096" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Njoy72.26m (237'1&quot;)CRN2024">Njoy</a>, the publicity we received for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/8446" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Infinite Jest 75.0m (246'1&quot;)Turquoise Yachts2023">Infinite Jest</a> has been a very welcome change for our team, particularly given the spectacular images of her surrounded by icebergs. She proved to the industry that you don't necessarily need to be ice-class to explore the most remote locations and we’ve had many positive reactions and requests from clients since her delivery.”While the studio has historically been known for its exterior and architectural work, in recent years there has been a significant expansion of its interior design department, headed up by Michelangelo Vallicelli. In fact, around 50 percent of the studio’s activities over the past year have been focused on interiors, a department that has been particularly busy due to the collaboration with the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4876" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ferretti Group (Company)">Ferretti Group</a>. Not only has the studio been tasked with the interiors of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/166" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally (Company)">Wally</a> WHY series, but they have also developed the exterior and interior of the new <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/584" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pershing S.p.a. (Company)">Pershing</a> GTX line (with an 80’ launched and a 70’ and 90’ to come in the next years).<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/299759/image/large-9cef78b899cd5f09b077e90083e0c4c8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/299759"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/349148/image/large-3b8a63621de51da5e80f56f87b3b9d7b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/349148">First announced in 2023, the 24-metre model represents the next generation for the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4876" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ferretti Group (Company)">Ferretti Group</a> shipyard. Michelangelo explains, “<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/584" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pershing S.p.a. (Company)">Pershing</a> sought to introduce more comfort and volume to the traditionally sporty, high-speed design. The GTX line achieves this by providing more space and a range of functional outdoor features, such as balconies and an adaptable aft platform. This transformation required rethinking <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/584" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pershing S.p.a. (Company)">Pershing</a>’s iconic style to merge the brand’s speed-oriented DNA with a more spacious and luxurious experience.”The GTX has offered the studio the unique opportunity to design both the interior and exterior of the yachts. Michelangelo adds, “We aim for seamless integration between interiors and exteriors, treating the yacht as a cohesive entity rather than separate spaces. Working on the interiors for brands like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/584" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pershing S.p.a. (Company)">Pershing</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/166" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally (Company)">Wally</a>, our approach involves balancing volume, functionality, and aesthetic. We view yacht design as one unified vision rather than distinct exterior and interior disciplines.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/307736/image/large-b697a64f9db974aa66fc26aba9cff337.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/307736">Without a doubt, the team has done a remarkable job with the GTX80, packing in far more than expected into a 24-metre hull. Unsurprisingly, the expansive experience with sailing boat design has given the team a deep understanding of balance and structure, and how to operate within limited volumes.As the studio’s interior department expands, it surely won’t be long before it realises its dream of taking on a 360-degree superyacht project, designing both the interior and exterior. “We’re dedicated to continuing to expand in the motor yacht market and look forward to seeing our current projects come to life in the next few years. The three Lürssen superyachts Ahpo, Blue and Flying Fox were seen anchored here in Sardinia, Italy. 

<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/396" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Port Vauban (Company)">Port Vauban</a> in Antibes has announced that it is now able to provide liquid hydrogen (LH2) bunkering for superyachts. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/364025/image/large-308ca719bb54b74e10571c97932d34b7.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/364025">The announcement followed several years of preparation involving <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/396" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Port Vauban (Company)">Port Vauban</a>, international liquid hydrogen specialists, bunkering companies, the Antibes SDIS, the port authority and departments of the town of Antibes-Juan-les-Pins.Since 2023, the port’s managing entity SAS Vauban 21 has refurbished and enlarged part of the outer harbour at the IYCA quay to support this capability. The refuelling can be carried out by lorry over several hours, with no fixed installations or on-site storage of liquid hydrogen required. Operations take place on a designated concrete surface, with connections made between the refuelling truck and the yacht.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/329190/image/large-830f185f787f1b158d68274659f19d8b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/329190">Each refuelling is subject to validation by the port and port authority and is conducted under a strict protocol based on a dedicated risk analysis. Founded in the early 1980s, the Italian brand has established a reputation for producing fast motor yachts with distinctive designs and technical features. Last week the yard invited a number of international journalists, including SuperYacht Times’ Francesca Webster to its Mondolfo facility to experience <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/584" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pershing S.p.a.
