Winch Design has created a whole line of new concepts and ideas without neglecting their ongoing building projects - a true testament to the agility of the company.Winch Design presentation during the MYS 2021 Photo: Léandre Loyseau / SuperYacht TimesThe list of forthcoming Winch Design projects is extensive and wide-reaching. There is the all-aluminium 80-metre motor yacht Cosmos, which will be showcased in Port Hercule next year; the colossus 222-metre Somnio, which is now deep in its engineering phase; two designs created in collaboration with Heesen; the fully Winch designed 67-metre Sparta; along with the “Range Rover” of the ocean concept: the 57-metre XVenture. They have also worked with Dutch shipyard Damen Yachting on the 77-metre Sea Xplorer. Jim Dixon explained how the company has already taken great strides toward this goal by working closely with the Water Revolution Foundation to index and quantify the carbon footprint of not only every material sourced and used but also of every way of operating - which, in fact, is where more effort is being made. Winch Design presentation during the MYS 2021 Photo: Léandre Loyseau / SuperYacht TimesSustainability is not just a buzzword of our day, it’s a real commitment. Winch Design is very much behind this and is driven to go beyond paying lip service to the issue, and to actualising real quantifiable data where they can continue to lower their carbon footprint. Earlier this year Winch signed the Water Revolution Foundation’s ‘Code of Conduct’, officiating its commitment to the cause, and since then has continued to update its encyclopedic record of sustainable materials and methods. Winch Design even has a dedicated Eco Committee who meet regularly to discuss and implement ideas to improve sustainable practices in-house. These efforts have been recognised, and the company is supported by the Eden Project and has been awarded The Planet Mark. Winch design employeesAs a continuation of Winch’s ethical drive are two more initiatives: Life Worth Living & the Winch Employee Ownership Trust. With 35 years of experience to tap into, Winch Design has been offering salient advice to companies under its umbrella, to help see them through these trying years. This dedication to care feeds into the second initiative, as Dixon proudly announced that the company is now 100 percent owned by its employees. Further testament to the agility of the company. These two vessels showcase the craftsmanship and the sustainable heart of the brand for participants of the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show. Maori 80 yacht anchored
