Yacht Club de Monaco's La Belle Classe Academy

The Yacht Club de Monaco has recently established a new training centre aimed at yachting professionals in the heart of Monaco. La Belle Classe Academy has been created to further progress the ‘Monaco Capital of Yachting’ project, designed to solidify Monaco’s place as one of the most integral centres of yachting in the world.

Yacht Club de Monaco will be hosting two open days at the end of January which will present the available training courses available throughout the rest of the year. Held on the 28th and 29th, the first day caters to professionals only, and delves into the topic of Navigation Techniques. La Belle Classe Academy instructor, Gilles Dray, will introduce the course content of future sessions including yacht navigation scenarios using a simulator.

In the realm of Navigation Techniques, information is broken down into three areas: ‘navigation areas’ which will look at the Strait of Messina Passage, entering the Breast bottleneck and the Dover-Calais crossing; ‘under varying conditions’ which will look at navigating in reduced visibility, at sea in strong winds and at night; and ‘emergency situations’ which will look at shipwreck, piracy, and plane/helicopter.

On the second open day, crew professionals and house staff are invited to attend a presentation on an International Protocol and Etiquette masterclass. This masterclass program lasts five days, and alternates theory and practical sessions in the Yacht Club de Monaco or on board/at home. Held in English, this course focuses on perfecting luxury details, etiquette and protocol explained for every culture around an art de vivre lifestyle.
