Alternatively, variable-speed generators can adjust their output based on the onboard load requirements in order to limit fuel consumption.Her batteries are complete with a ‘peak-shaving’ function, avoiding the need for activating a second or third generator during short-term load peaks. In addition, the batteries ensure the yacht can continue running even in the event of a temporary loss of shore power, preventing blackouts.
