Yacht Path announces expansion of services to the Eastern Mediterranean

Yacht Path Marine Group, the global yacht transport company has embarked upon a new route of service from North America to the popular cruising destinations of the Eastern Mediterranean.

“Due to the increasing number of yacht exports from the US to other regions across the globe, we have put in place additional routes of service to satisfy the need for transport of these yachts to their final destinations,” said Yacht Path business development director, Krista Kersey.

Since spring 2008, Yacht Path has offered regular service covering West and Central Mediterranean, including the Adriatic, and recently added additional service to the Eastern Mediterranean. Yacht Path’s first sailing to the Eastern Mediterranean from North America took place in early April 2009, departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA to Saint Thomas, USVI; Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Genoa, Italy; and Marmaris, Turkey.

Sales of new and used boats to US-based owners are down because of the struggling economy, causing an increase in inventory and a reduction in prices. “We are seeing that the majority of yachts being shipped are going to buyers in Europe, where a currency exchange rate in favor of the euro has boosted their buying power of American yachts”. This buying trend, along with those bound for seasonal cruising grounds, initiated the additional routes to and from North America to the Eastern Mediterranean, calling ports in Greece, Turkey and Croatia.

Over the past 8-years, Yacht Path has become the primary provider of yacht transportation to the east and west coasts of the Americas and Asia. In 2008, it expanded service to the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Middle East and opened offices in Spain and Taiwan.

Yacht Path Marine Group is one of the world’s largest yacht transportation companies. With five offices around the world including Palm Beach, Seattle, Palma, Ensenada, and Kaohsiung, and more in development; Yacht Path is a direct provider of transportation services for motor and sailing yachts from 30 to 150 feet. Primary routes include North America, Caribbean, Central America, Mediterranean, Middle East and Asia.
