Rodriguez Design and Atollvic introduce 55m Project Saona

Josh Rodriguez’s design studio Rodriguez Design and the Galicia-based shipyard Atollvic have teamed up to create the 55-metre Project Saona, marking Rodriguez Design’s first advance towards the Spanish yachting market. As a fully aluminium superyacht designed for speed and efficiency, she will displace just 600 tonnes at a half load draft of 2.1-metres.Saona yacht concept exterior designPhoto: Rodriguez DesignDesigned with her nautical environment in mind, she will feature an oversized swim platform that grants guests easy access in and out of the water. Indoors, guests will find a spacious beach club by the Spanish designer Kettal that is equipped with a hidden day head and additional storage for diving equipment. Her fold-out balconies seamlessly blend the interior with the surrounding nature and invite much natural light into the saloon. Forward of the beach club, there is sufficient storage to hold a Williams Dieseljet 625 tender and jet skis. Josh Rodriguez commented: “We designed this boat for an experienced owner who usually sails with his family and a very close couple of friends. The idea was that the owner could socialize with his guests or retreat to his private deck and enjoy the comforts of his own private fort, all in a day's work”. The owner’s suite will feature a his and hers bathroom, walk-in closet and studio to ensure the owner experiences utmost privacy and independence from the rest of the boat. She would be capable of reaching a top speed of 22 knots and have a range of 4500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots.
