Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven unveiled its flagship project today when the 140-metre motor yacht Solaris launched in the Kaiserhaven basin, assisted by two tug boats as the yacht was moved out of the yard's 280-metre-long floating dock. 
Solaris is the design work of Australian industrial designer Marc Newson, who makes his superyacht debut with this new project dressed in a light grey hull and crisp white superstructure. A defining feature is the large fashion plate element that seems to wrap around the mast, connecting both sides of the hull, adding a dramatic effect to an otherwise elegant profile. 
Fitted with a power and energy management system from ABB, Solaris is equipped with two Azipods powered by nine megawatts - the most powerful of its kind ever installed on a yacht.
