Renowned superyacht builder and refit specialist, Yachting Developments, has committed to a 3-year partnership with the NZ Millennium Cup as a Platinum Sponsor. The major sponsorship will begin with the 2012 NZ Millennium Cup, which will be held on the sparkling waters of Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf on February 16-18.
Yachting Developments, based in the Auckland suburb of Hobsonville, employs a dedicated staff of 140. They specialise in custom-built superyachts and refits, with expertise in composite, metal and timber yachts.
The company has recently completed an extensive and highly-acclaimed 18-month refit of the iconic J Class Endeavour and also built the 33.8-metre Silvertip, the current NZ Millennium Cup reigning champion.
Silvertip, the first yacht in the world to win both the Superyacht Society’s Best Sailing Yacht and Showboat’s Best Sailing Yacht awards recently confirmed her entry into the 2012 NZ Millennium Cup.

The NZ Millennium Cup is expected to attract a superb fleet of superyachts, all at least 30 metres long. Other confirmed entries include the 48.5-metre Georgia, the 44-metre S/Y Imagine D, the 39.6-metre Janice of Wyoming and the 31-metre Pacific Eagle.
