Following last weeks news announcement about the new contract at long-established pedigree yacht constructor Heesen Yachts in Holland, YCO can now reveal more about the project. YCO have represented the Buyer in the commissioning of the one-off 50m new build project.
A fully custom all aluminium construction with a semi displacement hull and many distinctive features, the yacht will be capable of at least 21 knots despite its wide beam. The project will represent an interesting challenge for Heesen due to the curved design which is particularly difficult to build. “We are very proud that YCO and their client have chosen us for this project as it provides confirmation that when one wants to build a semi-displacement yacht Heesen is the best place to do it” commented Fabio Ermetto, Commercial Director at Heesen Yachts.
The Owner’s eye for detail when collaborating with the Exterior Designer has been instrumental in achieving the clean, pure lines that form the unique profile and design of the yacht whilst maintaining the constant ability to see the surrounding sea. This will result in something entirely new and distinctive on the horizon when the yacht is launched in 2013. Various signature features of the Exterior Designer have been integral to the design, including double-curved convex exterior glass, a convex curved freeboard and a smooth, unbroken outer “shell”. More details on other distinguishing features will be released in due course.
The yacht will undergo construction at Heesen’s new facilities in Oss, Holland. “The Owner decided to partner with Heesen to develop this exciting new project as their pedigree, experience, build quality and success with high speed superyachts is second to none in the industry. All-aluminium and curved glass construction is a highly complex business, as is guaranteeing the yacht will reach her contracted speed on delivery. Combined with the many other parameters of excellence required, we have every confidence this unique yacht will be something very special” explained YCO.
