Yachting Partners International (YPI Group) has today announced the appointment of Fiona Maureso as the Group’s new Head of Charter.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/132410/image/large-d47342d4eeab0a1b581a29f39285262f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/132410">"I am very happy Fiona has decided to join us at YPI,” says Group CEO Bertrand Vogèle. “Fiona is already very well known and respected throughout the industry for her competence and professionalism. She brings with her a deep understanding of the marketplace and a way of working we believe is key to our continued growth and success especially within our Charter Division.” A veteran of 25 years experience in the super yacht industry, Fiona has worked in all areas of superyachting from her time as deckhand onboard a 40-metre motor yacht back in 1983, to her years as a sales broker’s assistant which eventually lead her to the world of charter and a career that now spans no less than 17 years. “I’ve been very lucky,” explains Fiona. “Over the years I’ve gained some excellent experience right across the industry…that has made a big difference to my understanding of how everything works and how it all fits together.” Born in England and a graduate of the University of Bath, Fiona speaks fluent French, “not-so fluent” Italian and is passionate about all things marine. An active member of MYBA for more than 20 years (including 4 years as a member of the Board), Fiona has contributed much to the association. “It’s certainly a commitment,” she smiles. “But worth it.” Speaking of her new role with YPI, Fiona is both excited and keen to get to work. “After almost 40 years, YPI’s Charter Division is very well respected,” she says. “I am looking forward to working with the great skillset and talent we have today and to shaping YPI Charter for even more success over the next 40 years. YPI appoints new Head of Charter

Enrico Chhibber speaks with Japan-based yachting experts to explore recent regulatory reforms and infrastructure developments that are gradually positioning Japan as a more accessible and appealing destination for superyachts. When it comes to attractive superyacht destinations in Asia, Thailand has traditionally taken the spotlight. Japan, meanwhile, has remained a lesser-known cruising ground and has often been viewed as logistically challenging. Today, however, that narrative is changing, as Japan begins to reposition itself on the global yachting map. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/370701/image/large-fccdf0ce93277bda47184d5f87855515.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/370701">The Japanese archipelago, comprising more than 14,000 islands and stretching over 34,000 kilometres of coastline, spans approximately 3,000 kilometres from north to south. With climates ranging from the snowy winters of Hokkaido to the subtropical warmth of Okinawa, the country offers year-round cruising opportunities and a broad range of geographical and cultural experiences.Yet despite these natural advantages, Japan has not historically appealed to the international superyacht community. Regulatory complexities and limited marina infrastructure for larger vessels have, until recently, presented notable hurdles to its development as a cruising destination. This landscape is now beginning to evolve. Since 2021, a series of regulatory reforms have made it easier for privately registered, foreign-flagged yachts to enter and cruise Japanese waters.Further momentum followed in December 2024 with the announcement of Superyacht Base Kobe Marina, which is currently under construction, with a full yacht service opening in 2026 and a full opening with surrounding infrastructure taking place in 2027. The project is intended to help address longstanding infrastructural limitations and support Japan’s efforts to attract more superyacht tourism.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/370696/image/large-5ef3ac54fac761e21641b06208086062.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/370696"> Marina infrastructure development in JapanAlthough Japan’s general maritime infrastructure is well developed, facilities specifically designed for superyachts remain limited. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Person/935" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nigel Beatty, United Kingdom (Person)">Nigel Beatty,</a> yacht broker at YACHTZOO and Chairman of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7320" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association (Company)">Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association</a>, observed that while the country is well-equipped overall, it lacks dedicated infrastructure tailored to the operational needs of larger yachts. “Infrastructure is brilliant in Japan, but if you're talking about purely superyacht infrastructure, then we are lacking a little bit,” he said.In most cases, visiting yachts cruise along the coast, anchoring near beaches or making brief stops at town piers. According to Beatty, this pattern highlights the need for more structured superyacht hubs and ports where large yachts can access services such as mooring, refuelling, provisioning, and guest handling. “When you go cruising, you anchor or tie up at a town pier for a night, then move on,” he explained. “But you also need hubs, places where yachts can come in and operate with proper support.”Some capacity does exist. A marina in Fukuoka, for example, can currently host a small number of larger vessels. However, the most significant development is taking place in Kobe, where a new marina is under construction. Announced in late 2024, Superyacht Base Kobe Marina is being developed to accommodate yachts up to 80-metres in length for stern to dockage and any size for alongside dockage. Just in the last few weeks the facility has accommodated a 70-metre and a 117-metre. Beatty noted that the basin is roughly half the size of Port Hercule in Monaco.Yukio Shintani of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1132" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Creation Marine (Company)">Creation Marine</a>, a lead investor who has played a role in coordinating stakeholders for the Kobe project, confirmed the marina is being established as a destination facility and is expected to open within two years. Once complete, it will serve as one of the first ports in Japan specifically designed to support visiting superyachts at scale.While Japan does not yet offer the density of dedicated infrastructure found in more established superyacht destinations, ongoing developments suggest a gradual shift toward greater accessibility and operational support.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/104219/image/large-c94403a78cad4fa52830c3e4d2898030.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/104219"> Before the Change: Superyacht regulations in Japan prior to 2021 Although foreign-flagged superyachts were technically permitted to enter and cruise in Japan before 2021, a combination of bureaucratic complexity and limited facilities made the country a difficult destination to navigate. As Nigel Beatty noted, “Whether commercially or privately registered, Japan never really drew a strong distinction between yacht types. Superyachts have technically been able to visit Japan for quite some time. The issue was the bureaucracy involved. While we used to manage it, the process was labour-intensive, and that translated into high costs for visiting yachts.”Japan did offer a relative advantage for crew from visa waiver countries. “There have always been positive aspects to cruising in Japan,” Beatty added. “For example, if you were from a visa waiver country, such as those in Europe or North America, you could enter Japan by yacht and remain for up to 90 days as a tourist, even as crew.”However, crew from non-waiver countries such as South Africa, India, and the Philippines, who represent a significant portion of the global yachting workforce, faced more complications. These individuals were required either to obtain a visa in advance or rely on a short-term crew pass valid for just 14 days. “Renewing it involved leaving the country and re-applying at an immigration office,” Beatty said. “Approval often depended on the discretion of the local immigration office, which made the process inconsistent and inefficient.”<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Person/4301" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Kenta Inaba, Japan (Person)"></a><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Person/4301" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Kenta Inaba, Japan (Person)">Kenta Inaba</a>, President and Partner at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6572" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Super Yacht Logistics Japan (Company)">Super Yacht Logistics</a>, described how procedural rigidity once defined the experience for visiting yachts. “In the past, every time a yacht entered Japan, we had to process customs, immigration and quarantine, not just on arrival but again at each subsequent port,” he explained. “When I started in this business, I had to submit a full list of every port the yacht was planning to visit. But yachts don’t follow fixed routes like commercial vessels. Their movements are often dictated by weather and anchorage conditions, which makes rigid planning difficult.”Even minor navigational changes could create problems. “If a yacht was anchored and the wind shifted, they might need to move to another part of the bay. But if that area wasn’t listed in the original plan, it became an issue,” Inaba said. “Even bringing something as simple as a bottle of beer back onboard required paperwork.” The system, he added, was not designed with yachts in mind. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/298475/image/large-124d7d95e2299e38d8fd95f9b6b90929.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/298475">Turning Point: The 2021 regulatory reformsRegulatory changes introduced in 2021 significantly altered how Japan manages visiting superyachts. Previously constrained by complex procedures, foreign-flagged vessels now benefit from a more streamlined regulatory environment. “Much of that red tape has now been removed,” Beatty said.One of the most significant adjustments was the introduction of the Naikosen (similar to a cruising permit). After completing initial customs, immigration and quarantine procedures, yachts can apply for the permit, which, along with a blanket Closed Port Permit, removes the requirement to file repeated clearances at each domestic port. “Yachts used to be required to declare every intended stop in advance, which was completely impractical,” Inaba said. “Now, they have the flexibility to change course depending on conditions.”One of the more favourable regulations that was always in place in Japan is that foreign registered vessels remain indefinitely in Japan allowing for longer and more adaptable cruising schedules and possibly basing themselves in the country long term. Changes to crew entry procedures have addressed previous constraints. The introduction of the Multiple Landing Permit, or “Crew Pass,” allows foreign crew to remain in Japan for the duration of the yacht’s stay; and even up to one year. This replaces the former 14-day restriction that often-required multiple renewals and placed a disproportionate burden on those from non-waiver countries. The Crew Pass allows crew ashore in the local areas that the yacht will be for yacht business, shopping or sightseeing.Crew from countries covered by Japan’s visa waiver programme continue to benefit from 90-day tourist access, allowing for greater flexibility to travel ashore or explore the length while the vessel is in port.Together, these updates have reduced many of the operational constraints that previously discouraged superyacht visits. Japan is now better aligned with international practices and more accessible to a global yachting audience; and in some areas have more favourable regulations than well-established yachting countrie<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/298430/image/large-ae231a89fb0e19e109ca66eda85be1ac.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/298430">Looking AheadJapan’s regulatory progress in recent years has laid important groundwork, but further improvements will be necessary to support charter activity. In particular, foreign-flagged, commercially registered yachts still face regulatory hurdles when seeking to operate charters in Japanese waters. Shintani acknowledged this ongoing challenge. “I want to try to create everything for the foreign-flagged yacht to charter. A new chapter for Asia: Japan’s rise as a cruising destination

Japan is emerging as Asia’s newest superyacht destination, driven by regulatory reform and new marina infrastructure including Superyacht Base Kobe. 

A new streamlined administrative process has been launched to allow foreign yachts to sail freely between Abu Dhabi and Dubai from January 2026. For the first time, sailing permits issued by either Abu Dhabi or Dubai will be honoured across both emirates, eliminating the need for repeated approvals or local entry and exit processing, which will reduce waiting times, documentation requests, and administrative costs as a mutually recognised permit issued by either emirate will grant seamless passage between the two cruising hubs.Central to the change is a new digital information bridge powered by the Early Inquiry System. Through regulatory reform, targeted infrastructure investment and large-scale environmental initiatives, the city sees yachting not only as a lifestyle draw, but also as a catalyst for long-term business growth, innovation and inward investment.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/371503/image/large-62250e7ac28e232f2c5e8db6051ee892.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/371503">Positioning Dubai for investmentDubai’s transformation from a modest trading port to a global hub for trade, tourism and maritime activity reflects its success in combining clear policy direction with strong public-private collaboration.&nbsp;Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit in May 2025, Issam Kazim, CEO of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6865" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dubai Tourism (Company)">Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM)</a>, part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), explained how the city has &nbsp;focused on building its infrastructure and attracting tourists from around the world. In 2024, the emirate ranked as the world’s leading destination for Greenfield foreign direct investment (FDI) for the fourth consecutive year, according to Financial Times Ltd.’s fDi Markets, attracting 52.3 billion dirhams ($14.25 billion) in estimated FDI capital alone. This momentum aligns with the long-term goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, which aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy by 2033 and further consolidate its position as a leading global destination for business and leisure.Close cooperation between government and industry has been key to this progress. Regular consultation ensures infrastructure, regulations and sustainability measures align with investor expectations. As Kazim noted, truly understanding the industry and maintaining strong private-public sector partnerships have been “the backbone of Dubai’s success and will continue to be so going forward”.Public investment in major assets, such as the expansion of Nakheel Marinas and the redevelopment of Mina Rashid, is matched by private sector services ranging from maintenance and refit to technical support.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/371506/image/large-e25bec56d4382b9c999e4cae8b373e50.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/371506">Dubai’s appeal for yacht owners and marine businesses is also shaped by ease of access and strong connectivity. Kazim noted that this growth is clear in the increasing number of yachts and superyachts relocating to Dubai, if not permanently then for part of the year, to benefit from Dubai’s winter climate and supporting infrastructure.Visa policies and streamlined regulations further strengthen Dubai’s competitive position. Programmes such as the Golden Visa, multi-entry visas and simplified superyacht registration make it easier for owners and operators to establish a long-term base. Foreign-flagged yachts are exempt from VAT and customs duties under certain permits, while the proposed GCC Unified Visa could expand regional cruising opportunities.Complementing its business environment is a diverse destination offering. Luxury hotels, fine dining, cultural attractions and outdoor activities add to Dubai’s appeal for owners and family offices. Visitors can sail easily between different docks and dining venues, enjoying a diverse range of cuisines within a 45-minute to one-hour cruising radius.Key features include complimentary moorage at participating marinas, quick booking response times, direct coordination with restaurants for reservations, and dedicated dock tenders for smooth drop-offs and pick-ups. A unified regulatory framework ensures a consistent, straightforward experience across the city’s marinas.By harmonising marina regulations and enhancing operational processes, the city is making it easier for foreign-flagged vessels to arrive and ensuring guests enjoy streamlined access and world-class service.Making waterfront dining more accessible, the initiative supports Dubai’s appeal as a year-round destination, especially during the peak winter season when favourable weather and a vibrant events calendar attract a growing number of international visitors. You’re not locked into a rigid itinerary.”This responsiveness, paired with a shallow draft and high cruising speed, allowed <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2951" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royale X49.9m (163'9&quot;)Overmarine Group SPA2012">Royale X</a> to access small harbours and anchorages that many tri-deck yachts simply cannot reach. “We’ve taken her into places like Bonifacio, Portoferraio, Hvar – even backed her into Portofino. That’s a real experience, arriving at those spots by sea in a yacht of this size.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/367659/image/large-8932eb38eb98815ce07278dc03827d06.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/367659">Capable of speeds over 30 knots, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2951" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royale X49.9m (163'9&quot;)Overmarine Group SPA2012">Royale X</a> has been designed to make the most of every moment aboard. “We’re often travelling with limited time, just a few weeks, sometimes days. Being able to move quickly between locations changes the whole dynamic. From Monaco, you can be in Saint-Tropez in just over an hour, or dash across to Portofino for lunch. But the layout works brilliantly. The cinema can be set up for guests, and we still have a proper gym. It’s balanced.”Noise and vibration levels are also notably low, even at speed, particularly with the new set of gyroscopic stabilisers. “We’ll often watch movies in the master at night while underway. You don’t notice the motion, it’s very smooth.”What the owner values most, however, is the sense of proximity to the water. “I’ve been on a lot of yachts where you feel quite detached – you’re up high, behind glass, away from the sea. This is different. You’re right there at the bow, low to the water, watching the coastline slip by.”The aft deck, too, offers wide views and clean sightlines, especially when manoeuvring in or out of port. “It’s a practical deck, but it’s also emotional – you feel the movement of the boat, the close link with the sea. For the first time ever, the Guna people have given Deep Blue Explorers (DBE), a team of Ocean X, permission to search for the lost frigate Maurepas, and any passionate traveller can decide to join.&nbsp;To realise this incredible opportunity, DBE teamed up with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6954" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pelorus (Company)">Pelorus</a> Travel to create a sacred treasure hunt. Not only will guests get to search for the gold, silver, and jewels that remain in the shipwreck, they also get to meet and spend time with the Guna Yala peoples, with whom the treasure will be shared.&nbsp;Worth an estimated $24 million USD, the treasure will be divided among the Guna Yala, the DBE-team, and guests who've signed up for the experience. Of the total treasure found, 70 percent is to be returned to the indigenous Guna Yala. The shipwreck is protected by the indigenous Guna Yala tribe, who inhabit 49 of the 300 Panaminian San Blas islands. The water surrounding the islands is considered sacred by the Guna people, making it impossible to legally search for the lost treasure. Now, the Guna Yala have decided to share this secret with the DBE-team.To understand why, we have to travel back to 2011 and 10,000 kilometres East. The Ocean X team discovered what is now known as the ‘Baltic Sea Anomaly’, a strange object sitting at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. To this day, no one knows exactly what it is or why it's there. That is, no one besides the Guna Yala. Although its thousands of kilometres away, the Guna Yala believe that the 'Baltic Sea Anomaly' is the interstellar vessel in which their ancestors descended from space. In 2012, a legal representative of the Guna Yala contacted Ocean X to get in touch about not just the anomaly, but also to explore the lost treasure of Maurepas.Besides the hindrance of the pandemic, the long timeline highlights how careful the Guna Yala people are in sharing the details of the lost treasure. After thirteen years of negotiations and conversations, legal agreements have been established, as well as enough trust between the DBE-team and the Guna Yala, to make this expedition a reality. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/368621/image/large-649fd34e338b413999d162950582b455.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/368621">What to expect&nbsp;During a seven-day stay onboard a catamaran or superyacht, guests will get to experience what it’s like to be a modern-day-explorer. Each day, guests dive and explore the sacred waters, sit in on evening lectures about the history of Maurepas, and have the rare chance to share a meal with the Guna Yala while listening to generation-old stories.&nbsp;After spending each day scanning the seabed with a magnetometer, salvage diving and observing the recovery process of the treasure, guests will get to enjoy gourmet meals, prepared by a 5-star chef, while relaxing in air conditioned spaces. &nbsp;Besides guests, the DBE-team and the superyacht's crew, the expedition will also be filmed and turned into a documentary by renowned filmmaker Mikael Flodell. Flodell has played an important role in organising the expedition, sitting in on multiple meetings with the Guna Yala Congress and community leaders, who decide collectively whether something or someone is welcome in their sacred sea. “Absolutely unforgettable”: Life at the helm of King Benji with Captain Grant Du Preez

(Company)">Castoldi</a>&nbsp;is both a leader in the field of waterjet technology and a point of reference for serial production tenders. Active across the military, commercial, and superyacht sectors, the Italian brand is now applying its propulsion and manufacturing know-how to the specialist market for limousine tenders.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/396631/image/large-062ebf001bce4c2cc3c7a9d7b4ad2e91.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/396631">The small town of Albairate in landlocked Lombardy might seem a strange place for a boatbuilder to set up shop, but it is closely linked to the brand’s origins in one of Italy’s richest agricultural regions. Luigi Castoldi was a pioneering engineer in the agricultural machinery sector through his company BCS, which is still extant today. He began exploring waterjet propulsion – still a novelty in the early 1960s – because boats were damaging their propellers on the shallow bottom of the nearby River Ticino.&nbsp;After importing a waterjet drive, he set about re-engineering it to create a more durable and effective design. His first mass-produced <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a> waterjet, model Jet 05, made its debut at the 1969 Genoa Boat Show. Since then, over 40,000 <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a> waterjets have been delivered around the world, from the compact 224 unit up to the mighty 600 HCT drive that can support installed power of up to 2,700 horsepower.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/396632/image/large-4d83f3db58d65cf02a38baa8d387c061.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/396632">Today, the company is still family-owned under the directorship of Giacomo Castoldi, Luigi’s grandson, who with his father Franco spearheaded the company’s diversification into the tender market with its own range of diesel-powered jet tenders. The first model, the JT 18 Pro in 1998, served as the blueprint for the current range, from the entry-level Jet Tender 14 up to the 10.5-metre Jet Tender 34. The latter also provides the technical platform for the Jet Tender 34 Limo, the company’s first venture into the limousine market.Why waterjetsWaterjet propulsion for superyacht tenders offers several advantages over traditional propeller-based systems. These include enhanced manoeuvrability, higher efficiency and durability, lower noise and vibration, and the reversing bucket can ‘crash stop’ a boat in less than twice its own length. But arguably the most critical feature – as Luigi Castoldi was quick to realise – is shallow draft.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/396635/image/large-accb3204fb1c42a0f2bfa16fdfac9f5c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/396635">“Jet tenders can drive right up to a beach, and most of our models are equipped with bow ramps as standard,” says Giacomo Castoldi. “Combined with a folding console, low draft also means they occupy less vertical space inside the tender garage, while the lack of exposed propeller blades reduces the potential for injury to swimmers, divers, or marine life.”Over the years, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a> has finessed its waterjet technology. Unlike other systems requiring external gearboxes, all <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a> waterjets except the entry-level Turbodrive 224 DD have integrated gearboxes. This results in a more compact overall footprint, which means more space for passengers and luggage storage, and simplifies the installation process while reducing the potential for errors or rework. They are also equipped with a patented anti-clogging system that enhances the waterjet’s reliability in challenging conditions. The Clear-Duct unclogging system works by reversing the direction of the impeller and simultaneously opening the protective intake grid to flush out any debris that may have accumulated.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/396660/image/large-44d8926e35b1304d60e5cdbcb14c3137.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/396660"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a>’s latest waterjet drives that carry the HCT acronym have been redesigned to offer a 12% increase in performance compared to previous iterations. Advancements in impeller design, a pre-stator vane system, and an updated post-impeller stator work together to improve the flow of water through the system, reduce cavitation, and ultimately deliver more thrust combined with lower fuel consumption.&nbsp;“These enhancements are largely thanks to investment in CFD analysis,” says Giacomo, “Combining fluid dynamics with our own practical engineering know-how has generated a lot of new ideas."<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/396615/image/large-28e2be0f5dedca48b4f2f92405172d02.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/396615">Total control<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a> also produces its own control systems, from simple mechanical options to the sophisticated ACES system developed in collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7877" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Xenta (Company)">Xenta</a>. Powered by a 32-bit embedded processor and utilising a proprietary CAN bus network protocol, the ACES system delivers precision control of engine RPM, waterjet steering nozzles and reversing buckets when transitioning between docking and cruising modes. Additional functions include dynamic positioning and smart anchoring, which simulates mechanical anchoring by swinging around a virtual GPS point. Adaptive steering logic can even provide ‘propeller mode,’ which recognises when the vessel is in reverse to simulate conventional propeller behaviour – a useful feature for operators transitioning to waterjets.To maintain quality control, most of the waterjet components are machined in-house, an exception being the Duplex stainless-steel impellers that rely on precision investment casting technology. With regard to tender production, the whole process – from the 3D design, hull lamination and tube fabrication to the hydraulic and electrical systems – is carried out internally before final testing in its own water basin in front of the factory.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/396658/image/large-b3c15147d7d49ce31a9b749e8a305ff2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/396658">When <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a> began production of jet tenders in the mid-90s, it decided from the start to take a platform-based approach with fixed hull forms designed around its own propulsion system. By standardising the production process, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a> ensures consistent quality while reducing unit costs through repeated tooling and manufacturing processes. Additionally, serial production provides opportunities for continuous optimisation, further enhancing the performance and quality of each new upgraded model. As the range evolved, customised interior materials, finishes and layouts have become the norm to meet the specific needs of individual clients without having to build costly and time-consuming one-offs.&nbsp;The company has applied exactly the same production philosophy to its new Jet Tender 34 Limo designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/153" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nauta Yachts S.r.l. (Company)">Nauta Design</a>. Conceived initially for a fleet of luxury cruise ships currently under construction, each ship will carry four <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a> Jet Tender 34 Limo tenders to deliver a sophisticated ship-to-shore guest experience.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/396657/image/large-a20e0e70cb5a086260c495f6e811d4a1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/396657">Limo luxury&nbsp;Historically, the limousine tender segment has been defined by high levels of customisation, where each unit is tailored specifically to the design and needs of a particular superyacht. While this approach allows for alignment with the mothership’s aesthetic, it often results in longer lead times, higher costs, and compromises in terms of performance and systems integration. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/396633/image/large-bb3ca9a1c828124e6a74dc5b67525448.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/396633"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A. (Company)">Castoldi</a>’s entry into this market introduces a shift toward standardised, platform-based design, which allows for quicker production times and greater system optimisation, while still providing owners with a high degree of personalisation, particularly in the interior architecture. Two primary interior layouts are offered: one with all-seated configurations for maximum comfort, and another combining seating with a pantry and bathroom for longer transfers. Material finishes can also be tailored to suit individual preferences."This project represents a new chapter for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Castoldi S.p.A.
