YPY the Netherlands: a new era in Dutch Yachting

Spearheaded by a group of young individuals working within the Dutch yachting industry, a new branch of the global Young Professionals in Yachting (YPY) network has been established in the Netherlands. The new YPY the Netherlands association will allow superyacht professionals within the country to meet regularly to discuss opportunities, share new ideas and create lasting partnerships in a relaxed and well organised environment. The new branch brings YPY’s global reach to four key yachting areas including Florida, Monaco and London.

Together with YPY the Netherlands President, Folkert Schoots, the founding committee consists of four board members including Joost Mertens, Charl van Rooy and Joseliene Verloop.

“The need for a platform in our country where young, like-minded individuals can meet and share their visions and experiences is what has brought us together,” commented Schoots. “The yachting industry is rapidly evolving and becoming more professional. It therefore makes perfect sense to get the young professionals in the Netherlands organised as well, while learning from each others experiences during social gatherings and educational events. An important factor is that it remains a fun experience to join the association while creating more awareness for other young professionals to enter our industry and to maintain our forefront position. Aligning to the existing YPY organisation was a no-brainer, our members will enjoy an established international network when becoming a member.”

YPY founding member, John Jarvie, had the following to say about the global expansion of the association: "The yachting industry is an international marketplace with major hubs across the world, and it has always been our objective to grow YPY into an association where members could interact both locally and Internationally. Now that the YPY foundation has been established in the U.S.A, Monaco, London, and the Netherlands, we hope that all young professionals in yachting can continue to improve our industry through their experiences and relationships established within the organisation."

Young Professionals in Yachting is a non-profit organisation that was established in Florida in 2009.

Membership is limited to business professionals within the yachting industry between the ages of 21 and 40 years of age. Interested applicants are encouraged to discover more about the association at www.youngprofessionalsinyachting.org and to get in touch with YPY the Netherlands’ committee at [email protected].
