Previously named Excellence V, the motor yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests across seven staterooms designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/56" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Reymond Langton Design Ltd. (Company)">Reymond Langton</a>, who also crafted her exterior. In 2022, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2616" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arience60.0m (196'10&quot;)Abeking & Rasmussen2012">Arience</a> underwent a comprehensive refit, including a 10-year survey, full paint job, interior upgrades like carpet and cinema chair replacements and exterior improvements such as new cushions and an upgraded sound system. Among her features, her guests can indulge in an onboard cinema, a waterfront gym, an expansive beach club and two large Jacuzzis. Performance wise, she is powered by her twin <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1409" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MTU (Company)">MTU</a> 16V2000 M53R diesel engines that allow her to reach a top speed of 15.5 knots and cruise comfortably at 13 knots. &nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2616" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arience60.0m (196'10&quot;)Abeking & Rasmussen2012">Arience</a> is available for charter through <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a>.&nbsp;

Delivered in 2005 by the German shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/44" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Abeking & Rasmussen (Company)">Abeking &amp; Rasmussen</a>, she features naval architecture by her builder while both her exterior and interior design were penned by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/56" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Reymond Langton Design Ltd. (Company)">Reymond Langton Design</a>. With the world gradually pulling itself from the grip of a global pandemic, many people have been dreaming of that once in a lifetime trip, exploring new parts of the world and finally shaking off a turbulent year. For most, travel in the current climate can be daunting, not knowing the regulations per country, vaccine status and the fear of illness, but there is one type of holiday that can bypass many of these concerns – charter. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/14113/image/large-aa58bee3b0b5f7afad741344e60153ac.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/14113">There are few other industries that can offer absolute privacy, or the world class standard of luxury, which can be offered aboard a crewed charter yacht. However, picking the right broker, yacht and destination can be a mammoth task, so we asked some of the leading brokers in the industry for their top tips for first time charterers.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/196103/image/large-c7b13c1b007cc75a49386273d08084fb.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/196103"> Look into booking your charter well ahead of time:&nbsp; Many brokers are predicting a boom in superyacht charters in the coming year, and with many people having suffered from holiday cancellations during 2020, demand will be at an all time high. Marie Molls, Partner, fleet manager and charter broker at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/159" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Burgess (Company)">Burgess Yachts</a> said; “Look into planning your charter early. The popular yachts book up fast, especially in the high season weeks, so it’s best to book, sometimes as early as 12 months in advance”.&nbsp;Peter Bennett, Founder of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater Yachting</a> shared the sentiment, noting, “Worldwide, the charter industry is going to really kick off, people have been pent up for so long and now they want to get away. You won't be able to book a holiday, all the yachts that want to charter will be booked, maybe not this year but definitely next year. I recommend that if you want to charter in 2022, book early to avoid disappointment!” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/50650/image/large-0e1e16e84a12b6972bfd37297e6a3c1b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/50650">Choose your charter broker carefully:&nbsp;Your charter broker is the person that you can rely on to find the perfect yacht for you, so finding the right broker is an all important step. Doing your research online is crucial, and it is also a good idea to find a broker that speaks your language and understands your perspective. Eleanor Bloodworth, Charter Specialist at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/259" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Y.CO (Company)">Y.CO</a>, noted, “Not only will your broker have access to a wider variety of yachts, but they are visiting the yachts and attending shows frequently, so they have a great knowledge of what the yachts are really like on board and who the captains are. This can give you much more insight to a yacht than a photo or video can ever do.”&nbsp;Many brokerages have a selection of international firms, so spend some time searching for the company that matches your interests and your requirements. It is important not to just look for a yacht and go from there, because that can really limit your options! Lucinda Rosen, Charter Broker at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright and Partners</a> commented, “First time charterers can be overwhelmed with all the information and seemingly limitless choice of yachts from multiple brokerages.” Adding that the key to a successful charter is to have direct contact with the broker, over Zoom or in person, because “This allows a broker to be able to put together the absolute best options to suit them as well as guide first time charterers through the process, get them a good deal and be able to advise them on the best itinerary too.”Frances Edgeworth of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/158" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fraser (Company)">Fraser</a> added, “Make sure you work with a qualified broker who has good credentials such as being a MYBA or IYBA member. A broker’s role goes far beyond securing a yacht: by working with a trusted broker, you will be fully supported by an experienced professional throughout the process.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/196101/image/large-4777a6a4f798d029145fa24a0f8acbf8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/196101">Be Flexible:If you’re chartering for the first time, it's a good idea to be open to a variety of options and locations, this will help your broker research the best options for you and your guests. Marie Molls of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/159" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Burgess (Company)">Burgess</a> added, “if you are ever uncertain, ask your brokers advice and recommendations, they are there to help find you the best vessel in the right location, and they have the experience.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/34507/image/large-2ca3ba6c5fb5c1398fb8efe03cc54948.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/34507">Don’t be afraid to ask for final costs:&nbsp;For first time charterers, defining the final costs can be confusing, but don't be afraid to ask your broker about the total costs of the charter. Almost all charters have an additional provisional allowance, be it for food, petrol, drinks or port tax, and these are often not calculated within the initial charter fee. It is important to speak to your broker about the Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA) and this will ensure you aren’t caught out by unforeseen costs.Alice Newnham, charter broker with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="IYC (Company)">IYC</a> agreed adding, “When working with your consultant to find the perfect boat for your charter, it is really important that you are transparent about what you are looking to spend. There are other fees such as VAT/tax and crew gratuity that your charter consultant will also brief you on prior to you making your decision.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/196102/image/large-595219feb078a08afa5a5717e50a53ca.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/196102">Utilise your crew:&nbsp;Lastly, it's important to remember that the crew are really your best asset once you are aboard, they will know the vessel better than anyone, even your broker, and it is likely that they have cruised to many of the locations you are visiting before. The more information you give to them about your preferences, the easier it will be for them to cater to your desires and ensure that you have the best holiday experience possible. Nicola Breymaier of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/158" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fraser (Company)">Fraser</a> commented, “Pay particular attention to the crew. Ensure your broker is aware of the kind of service you are expecting and that the crew will fit with that; be it formal, energetic, gourmet chef, sport specialists, etc. The crew is just as important, if not more important than the yacht itself!”Don’t shy away from asking their advice, or requesting the things you feel you need to truly enjoy your charter – that is what they are there for! William Molloy, the senior charter broker at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/808" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moravia Yachting (Company)">Moravia Yachting</a> agrees, adding, “A great charter crew will immediately realise if clients want to relax and enjoy the privacy offered by the yacht or be entertained during the cruise. They will have the local knowledge along the route to help you find ‘hidden gems’ along your bespoke itinerary. Whether it be the very best restaurants, an open-air opera, or the most beautiful anchorages for water-sports and idyllic lunches.” Alice Newnham of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="IYC (Company)">IYC</a> reiterated also this point, “The captain, together with their crew explore the areas week in week out to seek out the best anchorages, restaurants, ports to give you a unique insight into the cruising grounds. They are knowledgeable - so use them! Brokers give us their top tips for first time charterers

After 17 years at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/124" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Edmiston (Company)">Edmiston</a>, Chris Cecil-Wright took a leap of faith and left to run his own brokerage house to look after a small number of special boats and select clients. As the show season gets underway, Chris and his team are hoping to continue their trend of selling a boat at every Monaco Yacht Show. With three berths booked in preparation, along with his positive attitude and wealth of knowledge, he may well get lucky. In the meantime, over a cup of coffee on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a>, Chris gives a fascinating insight into the business from the eyes and mind of one of the superyacht industry's most influential and successful yacht brokers.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/81639/image/large-098bdd10f3c1fd030f7d764b3946560d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/81639">Having branched out on your own and founding&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright</a>&nbsp;in 2013, has your method of working changed? Do you have any particular tactics when it comes to dealing with clients?The way I do business is that I meet the client and I take the time to build a relationship with them as that is the driver for good business. When you have a good bond with someone you can have frank discussions and, most importantly, you get to know their idea of value, size and quality. That’s my tactic: to know my clients well! It is also why I don’t have very many clients as I like to keep them to a minimum and look after them properly. How do you think&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright</a>&nbsp;stands out?I don’t think we do stand out, I just think we do what we do well! There’s a whole big market out there with thousands of boats to choose from so you can’t know everything. The way I add value to a relationship is knowing the history of the boats, which is why I focus on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadships</a> because I like the product and about their boats. When I deliver this information to a new owner it is good value to them. <img src="https://sya.superyachttimes.com/uploads/store/photo/55860/image/large-989e1df86770e8c8e5284175607495fa.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/55860">What would your best advice be to a new owner wanting to get into the industry?Personally, if I was a new owner coming into the industry I would try to find the support of someone who spoke my language and understood who I was. Someone who bothered to make a relationship with me and didn’t just send me a list of big white boats and ask me to choose. I would be having coffee at various brokerage companies and look the broker in the eye and ask myself: “Do I like this person? Because I am going to be spending the next year or two with them!”&nbsp; Refit is often the best option for first-time buyers as it is likely that they have already chartered and explored the second-hand <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/for-sale" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">yacht market</a>. There’s no point in building your own boat until you’ve spent some time on one because you won’t know what you really want. That said, however, I have sold quite a few 80m+ new-builds to first-time buyers. I think the 60-metre market is very adaptable to suit any taste: For example, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Hampshire I</a> (renamed Ambition) had dark blue carpets, dark wood and gold accents, but now she is looking very contemporary. A nostalgic boat doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of modern amenities onboard! There is definitely part of the market that like this style, but that’s what I love about our industry so much: every owner is different with different ideas and wants something different out of yachting. It’s a passion!<img src="/uploads/store/photo/88485/image/large-8c98f2142739cfc249b9dabb2f0a6626.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/88485">The refit work on&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a>&nbsp;came to around €8,000,000 over the course of 18 months, what is your opinion on the current refit market?The refit market is a big question because boats are always being refitted and the scope is so huge. I think brokers are able to add value to a transaction by knowing the history of the boat leading up to its acquisition and can guide an owner through what needs to be done on the boat to make it how they want it with sensible expenditure. Some people are just after the biggest boat for the best price so they don’t mind if it is a bit rough and ready; other people want absolute precision, perfection. But boats are never perfect - even when they come out of the shipyard: <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a> is a classic example.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/81643/image/large-b0958ec8ab66f7e993bc0154f631e53e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/81643">You are very open about your passion for&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>. What is it about&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>&nbsp;you like so much?I have worked on so many boats there now and have built strong relationships. If you went to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> to buy a boat it would be different than if you came to me and we both went to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> needs to make a profit, whereas my job is to get the best possible deal, contract, terms, price and specification that I possibly can. For me, the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> DNA has always been in the ultimate finish and in the quality that is put into the details. Just as one example, you have the teak on a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>: if you run your toe over the deck there is a very small camber around the edge so water doesn't collect - no other boat has that! There are just a million things like that on a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> that just make them special.&nbsp; Having been in the industry for nearly 25 years, have you seen a shift in the clientele?&nbsp;In the last year, no. But in the last 10 or 20 years, I have noticed an increase in female owners! Also, America took a bit of a back seat when the Russians were in town but that market is back in force now. Unsurprisingly, Asia is becoming more prominent. I couldn't comment on anybody's style or taste because when you think what sort of money these people have, they are so unique on this planet. It’s an extraordinary business!&nbsp; What if you don’t agree with your clients’ ideas?These days I don’t disagree. In the old days, I used to sell whatever anybody wanted, now I find my reputation is more important than just doing any deal. I can and have said I am happy to point people in the right direction but I won’t be involved - I have the experience to know that it will come back to bite you and one disgruntled client is not worth it!<img src="https://sya.superyachttimes.com/uploads/store/photo/81642/image/large-072d1bd4b0e03fdabe26b6a3abe0781d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/81642">What are your expectations or predictions for the future, both in the industry and for&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil Wright &amp; Partners</a>?I predict we will find a buyer, a new buyer, for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a> or <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Hampshire I</a>. I really want to find a buyer in-house to keep them in my fleet and release them out to the charter market which is somewhere they haven’t been for a long time. They’re both immaculate, ready to go and we’ve had a lot of interest from realistic sellers. I sold a 66-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> to the owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/280" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ambition56.5m (185'4&quot;)Feadship2001">Hampshire I</a>, and the owner of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/186" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="New Hampshire62.0m (203'5&quot;)Feadship2005">New Hampshire</a> bought an <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/44" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Abeking & Rasmussen (Company)">Abeking</a> 81-metre, so they have both got their new boats already!&nbsp;I’d like to see the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2989" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cecil Wright & Partners (Company)">Cecil-Wright</a> charter department grow, especially as we will add the recently sold <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2616" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Arience60.0m (196'10&quot;)Abeking & Rasmussen2012">Arience</a> to the charter market very soon. I see a lot of charter businesses just going through the motions and I think we can provide more of a personal service.&nbsp;<img src="https://sya.superyachttimes.com/uploads/store/photo/75429/image/large-07a1a22511861764b32d7988360c680a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/75429"> Do you have a particular career highlight, and a challenge?I enjoyed doing <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2074" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Madame Gu99.0m (324'10&quot;)Feadship2013">Madame Gu</a> as I introduced the designer, put the build contract together, went all the way through the build and delivered it. It was fun! We are still very good friends with the captain and the team. I delivered <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6297" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sherpa73.6m (241'6&quot;)Feadship2018">Sherpa</a>&nbsp;which was a big highlight and an extraordinary process. Despite the industry not having changed much in the last 25 years, every day is still a challenge! The reasons people have boats are the same, but there are a lot more shipyards and brokers even though what we are all trying to do is the same. The volume of the industry has gotten bigger, which means there are more careers for people. &nbsp;What would be your money-no-object project?That’s like saying what’s your favourite pair of shoes! Your favourite shoes may not be practical for playing tennis or going to the farm. So if I wanted to go to St Tropez, the last thing I’d want is a 110-metre motor yacht, but if I want to explore Antarctica, I wouldn’t have a 35-metre 100-year-old classic sailing yacht. There are 100 boats I would love to own and I have around 10 boats as it is! They all have different jobs: I have a 12ft Scow that I race on a Monday with my daughter, a J80 I race on Thursday with four other lads, a Nicholson 55 sailing yacht I take to holiday with my family, a 16ft Pram that I picnic on with my family along the coast and an 8.5-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1914" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Scorpion RIBs (Company)">Scorpion Rib</a> I take on the Solent as a means of transport. My perfect boat in the Med right now is probably a 45-metre classic restored <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> - something like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/267" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Heavenly Daze32.22m (105'9&quot;)Feadship1972">Heavenly Daze</a> - lovely! I think one day I will buy it! Superyachts Excellence V and Hampshire off Fort Lauderdale

Built by Abeking &amp; Rasmussen in 2012, the 60 metre Excellence V is the second yacht constructed by the German shipyard for this owner. One of the owner's special requirements was to have the yacht fit into the marina of Gustavia on the island of St Barths, one of the owner's favourite ports. Despite this restriction, Excellence V boasts a volume of 1,632 GT – unheard of for a yacht of her length. The yacht features a beautiful Reymond Langton interior, which you can view in <a href="http://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/superyacht-of-the-week-the-60-metre-abeking-rasmussen-excellence-v/" target="_blank">this</a> on board feature.

In the background we see the 56.50 metre Hampshire which was launched at Feadship as Barbara Jean in 2001. After acquiring the yacht in 2006, the same owners then went on to build the 78.50 metre Hampshire II, delivered in 2012.

Superyacht Excellence V departing Port Everglades

The yacht is designed by Reymond Langton and accommodates up to 14 guests with a crew of 18. The experienced owner commissioned a larger 78 metre Abeking &amp; Rasmussen which was eventually sold during build and launched in 2008, and had Excellence V built in order to reach his favourite destination, the Port of Gustavia in St Barths, where the larger yacht would not be able to fit. The yacht houses a large volume, similar to that of most 70 metre yachts, and therefore has her appearing much larger than what her overall length suggests. Both the interior and exterior of Eminence were designed by Reymond Langton Design. The yacht's original owner went back to Abeking, and had another yacht built, which was launched in 2012. One of the criteria for the new yacht, was that she would have to be able to dock in the port of Gustavia in St Barths, where Eminence can not fit. By Maarten Janssen

This week's superyacht of the week, Excellence V in St. Barts

Aptly named, Excellence V is the fifth in a highly successful line of superyachts. Built by acclaimed German shipyard Abeking &amp; Rasmussen and launched back in the spring of 2012, she combines elegant design with a sense of space that surpasses her physical dimensions. Turning heads, this superyacht of remarkable pedigree boasts the confidence and personality of an instant classic, maintaining the poise of a true lady. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/142537/image/large-bdea3ccbfa6913e183097fa21980c0d1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/142537">With his extensive experience and knowledge of large yachts, her owner had a crystal clear view, not to mention a lot of inspiration, to bring to the table during development of this project. The Reymond Langton designed yacht is seen here in port, docked next to Feadship Tatasu. The 47m Tatasu, hull 771, was built by Feadship in 1994. Since her delivery almost 18 years ago she is still owned by her original owners.
