SuperYacht Times sat down with Giuseppe Palumbo, founder and CEO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Superyachts (Company)">Palumbo Superyachts</a>, to find out more about what is currently in the pipeline at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5775" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo SY Refit (Company)">Palumbo SY Refit</a>, their recent refit projects and the future of the refit market.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197832/image/large-8a286b8bfefd1eb1f0c88cf78a2f4145.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197832">How did you start out in the superyacht industry and what encouraged you to found&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Superyachts (Company)">Palumbo Superyachts</a>?I was a child when I took my first steps in the shipyard with my grandfather. When I was a teenager, I continued to enjoy my visits there, breathing the air, the smells, looking the workers straight in the eyes and feeling the passion in their work. When I was growing up I wanted to follow in my father's footsteps. I made the passion I experienced from others at the shipyard ‘mine’ and took to the field myself.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197827/image/large-49da68697b37fc1330eaf146a168a506.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197827">Today I am in charge of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Superyachts (Company)">Palumbo Superyachts</a> division, which includes the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6173" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Columbus Yachts (Company)">Columbus</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5574" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Extra Yachts (Company)">EXTRA</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/72" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mondomarine SpA (Company)">Mondomarine</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5775" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo SY Refit (Company)">Palumbo SY Refit</a> brands. I have managers with great experience on each of our five production sites in Ancona, Savona, Naples, Malta and Marseille, as well as a representative office in Antibes. Every week I try to visit the shipyards to see the new yachts under construction or refit. I like getting into the technical aspects and I confess that my greatest passion is product development and technological innovation.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197831/image/large-089ce3b223333f9c77072c4704101624.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197831">As a family we have always dealt with refit and maintenance of commercial, cruise and cargo vessels, but in 2008 we decided to invest in yachting by making our first 54-metre superyacht under the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6173" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Columbus Yachts (Company)">Columbus</a> brand. Then we grew by acquisition, first with the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA Yachts</a> shipyard and then with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/72" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mondomarine SpA (Company)">Mondomarine</a>. The latest addition to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Superyachts (Company)">Palumbo Superyachts</a> is <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5574" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Extra Yachts (Company)">EXTRA</a>, an innovative brand both in terms of exterior design and volume optimisation. I prefer to let the accomplished results and the facts demonstrate what we are able to achieve both in terms of new constructions and repairs.From the establishment of&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Superyachts (Company)">Palumbo Superyachts</a>, how has your vision for the company changed?My long-term view has never changed. I believe it is important to always maintain high construction standards by using quality materials and skilled labour. It is crucial to keep up with new technologies and check their application for the yachting industry. We were pioneers in the field of hybrid propulsion and we continue to invest in the development of new projects and in technical construction equipment. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197734/image/large-6207584bc29a524411e097ddde3f4f5a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197734"> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Superyachts (Company)">Palumbo Superyachts</a>&nbsp;consists of several different brands, including&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5775" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo SY Refit (Company)">Palumbo SY Refit</a>. Could you tell me about the establishment of the refit brand? How does refit and maintenance fit into the vision of the Palumbo group?Refit and maintenance are our bread and butter. We started with this in the early 1950s as a family. It is an integral part of our daily work and the market acknowledges our dominant position in the Mediterranean, where we have five shipyards with state-of-the-art equipment and specialised workforce. We operate on boats up to 120-metres and we always complete our projects to "turnkey" condition and free of surprises.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197828/image/large-e2a7355dbe76ba0d37aff5ca57f0b13e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197828">We carry out a variety of jobs such as the complete repainting of hulls and superstructures, carpentry, interior refit, conversion, installation of hydrojet systems, just to name a few.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5775" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo SY Refit (Company)">Palumbo SY Refit</a>&nbsp;has been busy with its expansion into Central America and the Caribbean, as well as a new office in Antibes. Why have you chosen these locations?Last fall, with the aim of having an increasingly widespread network and guaranteeing our customers would be reached and provided with the highest level of quality service everywhere, we opened a new Service Point in Central America and Caribbean. From January 2021, we have a new office in Antibes, France, which has been established as our new headquarters. The Côte d'Azur remains a strategic point of passage for most of the boats that will then have to be maintained, therefore it was the ideal place to settle our representative area office.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197741/image/large-23e84940f5b157b977c2b79a7c107de8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197741">What does&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5775" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo SY Refit (Company)">Palumbo SY Refit</a>&nbsp;do differently from other repair and refit yards?No one else has as many shipyards offering such a wide range of services. Our facilities range between 22,000 square-metres to 45,000 square-metres, equipped with covered drydocks, travel lifts up to 820 tons, 3,300 ton ship lifts, painting sheds, moorings, yards for on-the-hard jobs, cranes, with many other features to complete projects of any scale. We have on site Project Managers and designers as well as specialised workshops such as joinery, carpentry, upholstery and warehouses at each yard. All of this makes a considerable difference in providing clients with a comprehensive and personal experience.Could you tell me more about some of the recent refit projects that have been completed at&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5775" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo SY Refit (Company)">Palumbo SY Refit</a>&nbsp;such as the 116-metre motor yacht&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/909" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Atlantis II115.82m (379'12&quot;)Hellenic Shipyards S.A.1981">Atlantis II</a>&nbsp;and the 15-year Class Survey on the 73-metre superyacht&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/590" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Titania71.0m (232'11&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2006">Titania</a>?Over the past year and a half we have worked on several important projects. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/909" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Atlantis II115.82m (379'12&quot;)Hellenic Shipyards S.A.1981">Atlantis II</a>has just sailed from Malta to start the season, after receiving routine maintenance as well as restoration and optimisation of her structures. Specifically, some of the process involved the replacement of the 60-metre steel plates on both sides of the superyacht as well as the construction and replacement of a new swimming pool platform. Additionally, our team worked on arranging anchors and cables, lining two anchor pockets, removing the bow thruster and both shaft and propellers, cleaning six ballast tanks, completely renewing the chain locker, replacing the existing exhaust pipe and repairing the air ducts in the FRW area.&nbsp; <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197733/image/large-c4738c92faba5b9290feceb2e069570f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197733">During her visit to our Marseille facilities, the 73-metre motor yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/590" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Titania71.0m (232'11&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2006">Titania</a> completed her 15-year Class Survey. The project was completed under a strict deadline and our team’s capabilities were proven, completing the laborious task in under two months, in compliance with the strict rules established by Lloyd's. These are just two examples of superyachts that we’ve recently had in our yard. We also specialise in sailing vessels and we had the opportunity to maintain the sailing yachts <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6794" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Essentia25.95m (85'2&quot;)Grand Soleil2019">Essentia</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4381" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Woodpecker Cube27.71m (90'11&quot;)Nautor's Swan2008">Woodpecker Cube</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/10850" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Kiwi23.99m (78'8&quot;)Southern Wind2002">Kiwi</a> in Ancona, and sailing yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3298" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cyrano de Bergerac39.0m (127'11&quot;)Camper & Nicholsons Shipyard1993">Cyrano de Bergeraca</a> in Savona.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197738/image/large-a2057d50ae5cf29e0d9c66cca0d15a21.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197738">Obviously we provide specific service to the fleet of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6173" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Columbus Yachts (Company)">Columbus</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/72" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mondomarine SpA (Company)">Mondomarine</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5574" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Extra Yachts (Company)">EXTRA</a> brands. In Savona we worked on motor yachts <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/77" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tribu50.7m (166'4&quot;)Mondomarine SpA2007">Tribù</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4385" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Okto66.4m (217'10&quot;)ISA Yachts2014">Okto</a>, while motor yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3183" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Armada53.7m (176'2&quot;)Columbus Yachts2011">Armada</a> has been a longtime customer at our Naples facilities.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197739/image/large-a436639cc3ec83864d225360e4341ac0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197739"> How do you see refit changing in the coming years, with the industry seeing a trend toward larger vessels and a move toward more ecologically mindful propulsion systems?The refit market is in good health with high-level competition between a few shipyards that have the right know-how and equipment to guarantee successful works with predictable costs. Having great knowledge of hybrid propulsion allows us to operate on conversions and maintenance on all kinds of vessels. Recent projects have provided us with insight into the latest ‘green’ propulsion systems. We were chosen as the main partner for the installation of a hydrogen propulsion system for the first boat we launched last May at our Marseille shipyard. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Tender/10473" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hynova 4012.19m (39'12&quot;)Hynova Yachts2020 Tender">HYNOVA 40</a> is the first pleasure boat equipped with REXH2 (Range Extender Hydrogen), a silent and zero-emission hydrogen-electric hybrid technology. With multiple new-build and refit facilities dotted around the Mediterranean and four distinct yacht brands, no other superyacht builder has invested so heavily in expanding its market presence over the past decade as the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Shipyard (Company)">Palumbo Group</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/84163/image/large-1a55bd58b12c178492aff0efa1955c37.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/84163">Headquartered in Naples and with over half a century of shipbuilding experience, the family-owned commercial shipyard diversified into yachting in 2008 when it set up the Columbus brand and went on to launch its first superyacht, 54-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3183" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Armada53.7m (176'2&quot;)Palumbo Shipyard2011">Armada</a>&nbsp;(ex: Prima), three years later. In 2014, it won the tender to buy out the failing ITM (International Technic Marine) shipyard in Marseilles, adding the facility to its existing refit facilities in Naples, Messina and Malta.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Shipyard (Company)">Palumbo</a> boosted its yacht building capacity by acquiring the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA shipyard</a> in Ancona in 2016. Its bid to take over the defunct <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/72" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mondo Marine SpA (Company)">Mondomarine shipyard</a> in Savona, where it plans to build all-aluminium yachts, was approved at the end of 2018.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/14178/image/large-d162bc5bf763ae6c9f215a5d7557a0a5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/14178">Earlier this year, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Shipyard (Company)">Palumbo</a> Superyachts Ancona announced the completion of its new <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/palumbo-shipyard-syncrolift" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">Syncrolift</a> capable of handling superyachts of up to 3,300GT and 110 metres in length. With eight yachts from 86 feet to 67 metres in various stages of construction, the pinnacle of this intense period of investment was the launch in March of 80-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4848" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dragon79.9m (262'2&quot;)Palumbo Shipyard2019">Dragon</a>, easily the largest vessel at nearly 2,300 GT built to date under the Columbus brand.&nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/84164/image/large-50c7737a4be041974f42e693a82d4e32.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/84164">“This is a special day that marks an important milestone for the company,” announced Giuseppe Palumbo, third-generation shipbuilder and CEO of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Shipyard (Company)">Palumbo Superyachts</a>. “<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4848" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dragon79.9m (262'2&quot;)Palumbo Shipyard2019">Dragon</a>&nbsp;is the materialisation of the vision and strategy undertaken just ten years ago when we decided to invest in the world of superyachts.”SuperYacht Times attended the <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/superyacht-dragon-launched" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">launch ceremony</a> and took the opportunity to catch up with Giuseppe Palumbo and talk further about his vision and strategy.&nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/79827/image/large-6a46ed2dcfca518870eb0c3e21474efb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/79827"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Shipyard (Company)">Palumbo</a>&nbsp;is now building yachts under four brand names: <a data-gid="gid://syiq/YachtModel/7535" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Extra 7624.0m (78'9&quot;)">ISA</a>, Columbus, Extra and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/72" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mondo Marine SpA (Company)">Mondomarine</a>. &nbsp;How should the market distinguish between these brands?Each has its own history and philosophy, which we’re very careful to preserve. Before we acquired <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA Yachts</a>, for instance, it was already internationally recognised as a symbol of made-in-Italy design, quality and innovation, and we’ve looked to build on that reputation. The GT series designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1197" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Team for Design (Company)">Enrico Gobbi</a> recalls the sporty <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a> yachts of the past, but raises the bar in terms of design and engineering and sets the tone for the future. &nbsp;The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a> Extra series represents a new approach to yachting for clients disillusioned with a traditional flybridge or open models. Inspiration for the concept came from what I personally wanted in a smaller yacht: namely outstanding interior volume and deck space, excellent fuel economy and high build quality, all at a very competitive price. In fact, the first Extra 76 was built for my own use – I only sold it when a client gave me a blank cheque and asked me to name my price. The same owner then went on to order an Extra 93.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/80837/image/large-4d96c99edfabf48b4b2c54df540d0923.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/80837">Columbus is different and is very much part of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Shipyard (Company)">Palumbo</a> story as the brand that launched us onto the superyacht scene. Owners can ask us to build a design by an outside designer or naval architect, or we can create one ourselves using our in-house technical and design staff. We can fulfil pretty much any brief and each project is fully tailored to the client’s requests.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/72" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mondo Marine SpA (Company)">Mondomarine</a> is different again and we plan to build all-aluminium yachts from 40 to 60 metres under the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/72" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mondo Marine SpA (Company)">Mondomarine</a> name. Perhaps the most famous <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/72" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mondo Marine SpA (Company)">Mondomarine</a> of all was the 50-metre explorer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/77" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tribu50.7m (166'4&quot;)Mondo Marine SpA2007">Tribù</a> that was built for Luciano Benetton, which is why we’ve launched our own explorer series, starting with 57-metre Discovery designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/58" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luca Dini Design (Company)">Luca Dini</a>. The all-aluminium Extra models will also be built in Savona. It’s worth mentioning that a private airfield recently opened in nearby Albenga, which makes Savona even more convenient for new-build or refit clients travelling by private jet.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/80852/image/large-2064bf22980e8c092437257bee6e32d8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/80852">If a client came to you and asked for a full-custom&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/201" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ISA Yachts (Company)">ISA</a>&nbsp;yacht, would that be possible?The interior design, of course, is already up to the owner and the engineering platform provides for a degree of customisation, but the idea is to maintain the brand DNA in a semi-custom series. Columbus Yachts’ 57m superyacht Taiba arriving in Monaco

 

Launched last year at the Palumbo Group’s shipyard in Naples is the 57 metre superyacht Taiba. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the yacht forms part of the Italian brand’s Classic line, which was first unveiled in 2011 with the 53.70m Prima.Taiba was designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec, and features an eclectic interior inspired by natural elements that has been finished with a variety of woods mixed with mirror and marble surfaces, all from the hand of designer Francesca Cianficconi.

Developing design concepts is a means for a shipyard to keep on the cutting edge showing it is abreast with market change and capable of constant innovation. Last Saturday the winners of the World Superyacht Awards were announced at the luxurious Çırağan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul, Turkey. The most prestigious awards, Motor Yacht of the Year and Sailing Yacht of the Year, were won by the 77.70 metre Feadship superyacht Tango and the 67.20 metre Alloy Yachts superyacht Vertigo. World Superyacht Award winners announced

With a clear design concept based on a light, modern interior and massive volumes, Italian shipyard Palumbo launched the Columbus 177 Prima earlier this year. With naval architecture by Sergio Cutolo and Tommaso Spadolini of Spadolini Studio Design signed up for her interior designs, Prima is an excellent example of the pure, meticulous and refined design Italians have become renowned for worldwide. Add to that the accomplishment of being rewarded a RINA Green Star Plus Platinum and an ABS Classification, the former being all the more prestigious for being awarded by H.S.H. Superyacht Prima was awarded by RINA with the RINA Green Star Plus, an additional notation class for environmentally friendly superyachts. 53.9 Metre superyacht Prima on seatrials

The Palumbo Group has announced the technical launch of the 53.9 metre superyacht Prima at Palumbo Shipyard in Naples on Monday morning. The launch represents an important goal for Palumbo, who only last year acquired two Shipyards in Malta, one of them fully dedicated to superyachts refitting. Prima was designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydrotech Naval Architecture, and features an interior design by Tommaso Spadolini of Spadolini Studio Design.Prima was built in compliance with the Rules of ABS and she is suitable for unrestricted navigation and is classed Maltese Cross A1, Yachting Service, UMS. She also obtained RINA Green plus, as an additional notation class. Superyacht Columbus 177 for sale through Fraser Yachts

The next Hydro Tec-designed yacht to be launched is Aifos, a 50-metre boat made entirely out of aluminium and currently under construction in the CBI Navi shipyard. It is expected to have an excellent performance even if it is not the most powerful of boats.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/128115/image/large-48cbfdb769660c699af64f278c0f7f16.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/128115"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2159" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Aifos</a> is a semi-displacement, three-deck 49.78m yacht, currently being built by CBI Navi according to a Sergio Cutolo’s Hydro Tec technical design. The exterior styling and design and the interior design are by Giorgio Vafiadis &amp; Associates. She is classified by DNV and complies with MCA regulations. Its hull and structure are made of a light 5083-alluminium alloy, so the yacht's displacement is just over 300 tons – not much considering the yacht’s volume.The semi-displacement planing hull and the propellers housed in semi-tunnels make Aifos boat very easy to steer, reduce draft and ensure stability in every condition, even at high speed. The keel of the Aifos ensures high speed, as well as an efficient fuel consumption/speed ratio, even at low speeds. The keel was tested in the Krylov sea basin in St. Petersburg and its vertical acceleration is limited. The engines installed on the boat are two MTU 16V 4000 M93 engines, generating 2,720 kW each, so the maximum speed achieved by Aifos will be above 24 knots. The boat will be able to sail for 700 miles at 22 knots and 1800 miles at 12 knots before needing to refuel. The boat has a dynamic stabilisation system and at anchor, made up of four stabilising, non-retractile fins with mechanical actuator.Aifos accommodates 12 guests in six cabins, three VIP double cabins on the lower deck, two twin cabins on the main deck, and a spectacular full beam suite on the upper deck.There are 6 other yachts over 50 metres, designed by Hydro Tec, currently under construction:<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1685" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Proteksan NB 53</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2520" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">NB 54</a>: the Turkish shipyard Proteksan is building these two 70m 18-knot displacement yachts made of steel and light alloy. The design is in charge of H2Yacht, while Hydro Tec has been entrusted with the planning of the structure, bottom, propulsion and plant engineering.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2762" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Blu Desire</a>: a 60 m (197 ft) displacement yacht under construction at the Greek Lambda Shipyard, whose estimated launch will take place in 2010. Hydro Tec deals with the complete planning of all, the technical parts, while designer Dimitris Koutoukos has been entrusted with the design.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3183" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Columbus 177</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3184" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Columbus 187</a>: these are the two first megayacht built at Naples based Palumbo shipyard. They are 54 and 57 metres, 17 knots, steel hull and aluminium yachts. Sergio Cutolo is working on these projects as project manager and Hydro Tec is providing the engineering and also the exterior styling.Belena: A displacement-hull, 54m yacht made of steel and aluminium, currently under construction by the Greek Golden Yachts shipyard. It is scheduled for launching in 2010 and was designed by Giorgio Vafiadis. The engineering design, the shape of the hull, the structural design, facilities and propulsion are Hydro Tec’s.
