Heesen Yachts has announced that the 37 metre superyacht Ilona has been sold with Broker Richard Lambert of Burgess having represented the buyer. She was listed with an asking price of EUR 8,750,000 at the time of the sale.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157364/image/large-f6c914b2330b4f6cd19562655bf90e24.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157364">Launched in 2007, Heesen undertook all aspects of her design, collaborating with Omega Architects to complete both her interior and exterior design. Amongst the work undertaken in her most recent refit was a complete repaint, and her previously dark hull is now all white.She is the sistership to Aurelia, and accommodates up to 12 guests in total comfort over five cabins on board, including a full beam owner’s suite. The 27th edition of the MYBA Charter Show will begin in just a few days time. Hosted in Genoa, the Show focuses on charter professionals and superyachts, as well as featuring a lively social programme with an emphasis on networking opportunities.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153566/image/large-6a1d8d9b4d20971fcdc8d05a9ba4a172.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148680">A wide range of yachts will be on show, with the smallest yacht in attendance being the 23.99 metre sailing yacht Si Vis Pacem which was built by Southern Wind in 2005 and represented by Edmiston &amp; Company, whilst the largest yacht on show will be the 72 metre Axioma built by Dunya Yachts and represented by Yachting Partners International. Other yachts on show will include the 70 metre Amadeus, the 60 metre Perseus 3, the 43.63 metre Silver Wind, and the 37.30 metre Aurelia.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153567/image/large-11f5dd7baba357f03af3bb2529a96ea3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148681">The MYBA Superyacht Chef’s Competition will also be back again this year, with the theme ‘Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet Dinner Party with your Most Decadent Chocolate Dessert.’ The rules state that the participating chefs must serve enough food for six people, and must be served at the allotted time or they will be automatically eliminated. Last Saturday the winners of the World Superyacht Awards were announced at the luxurious Çırağan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul, Turkey. The most prestigious awards, Motor Yacht of the Year and Sailing Yacht of the Year, were won by the 77.70 metre Feadship superyacht Tango and the 67.20 metre Alloy Yachts superyacht Vertigo. World Superyacht Award winners announced

With race cars and the look of a Dunhill cigarette lighter in mind, one wouldn't necessarily think of superyacht design. Yet, these have been two important sources of inspiration for one of the most recent deliveries from Heesen Yachts: their tenth 37 metres superyacht Aurelia. Launched ahead of schedule back in June 2011, one of her most striking and notable features is her unique exterior colour scheme, inspired by Gulf Racing. With her light blue and orange decal evoking an association with this legendary racing team, her exterior boasts a playful and original aura of retro-inspired sportivity. Even with her unique exterior colour scheme, courtesy of Dobroserdov Design, she still has a remarkably subtle feel to her. With the acclaimed Bannenberg &amp; Rowell taking on Aurelia's interior designs, these expectations are easily surpassed. The overall design is streamlined, subtly modern and slightly masculine or, as Simon Rowell from Bannenberg &amp; Rowell points out “inspired by the Dunhill cigarette lighter aesthetic”. From the Light Walnut herringbone pattern floor to the Bentley-seats inspired diamond upholstered ceiling, and from the fresh green Aston chairs, reminiscent of the famous Aston Martin “mouth grill”, to the leather belt and stainless steel detailing, the saloon oozes references to racing without being too obvious or over the top. Superyacht of the week: The 37 metre Heesen Aurelia

Until recently, Heesen Yachts had not considered gyro stabilization. But after a memorable sea trial in July 2011, the management team was so impressed they expect to be working with Seakeeper well into the future. In fact, the Heesen hull YN 16465, a 65 metre yacht due for completion late 2012, will also feature Seakeeper's stabilization system. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/137672/image/large-afe56865327e818196f532a29ab2be85.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/137672">"Heesen's 37m class was designed before stabilization at anchor was considered standard for a luxury yacht," said Peter van der Zanden, Heesen general manager, design &amp; development. Instead of obtrusive fins, an internal stabilization system was demanded and two M21000 gyros were installed on the new build. "Aurelia is a semi-displacement yacht and therefore fins are a disturbing factor," said Rob de Wijs, sales manager with Seakeeper's Holland distributor, Kemper en Van Twist Diesel B.V (KVT). "Heesen had no experience with gyros, so they were uncertain if the predicted roll reduction could be achieved. After the sea trial, they were convinced." The two Seakeeper M21000 Gyros installed on Aurelia were tested at zero speed and while underway in extreme, rough seas three miles outside Slijkgat Inlet between Holland and France. Wind was blowing northwest at 20 knots with 1.5m sea conditions. At zero speed, the gyros reduced resonant roll by greater than 55%. The Seakeeper gyros were also tested during underway operation. Samples were recorded at speeds of 6, 13, 18 and 28 knots. Through this speed range, the system reduced roll by an average of 50%. "We were impressed with how well the boat handled with the gyros," said Aurelia Capt. Brenden Scott. "They really helped with roll. As a charter yacht we were looking for comfort at anchor, zero speed and while underway." "We are sure that Heesen will have no doubts about Seakeeper anymore. The product has proven itself," said de Wijs. High seas during the trial proved that Seakeeper gyros worked so well underway that even seasoned crew marvelled at how well they steadied Aurelia. The point was further made during a video shoot on choppy waters off Cannes. Speaking on behalf of Aurelia's owner, Heesen PR and press office manager Sara Gioanola said, "Cruising on Aurelia with the Seakeepers is a very special experience". "While other yachts were rolling, we stayed still. The videographers felt great and could work in a perfect environment. The stabilization during the running shots also was pretty astonishing. We had to make a circle and Aurelia did not lean inside. She ran straight. The comfort you experience is unparalleled. Once you try a yacht equipped with a gyro, you can't go back to fins." M21000 gyros are designed for larger vessels, Seakeeper is working with yachts up to 65 metres. The gyros' powerful righting torque device is easily installed with no thru-hull fittings. Yesterday Maarten and I had a chance to step aboard of what is perhaps the sexiest yacht at this year’s Cannes Boat Show. Heesen were nice enough to give us a detailed tour of the 37 metre superyacht Aurelia. Powered by two MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines, she is an all-aluminium hard chine vessel with the ability to reach a maximum speed of 30 knots. Styled by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, her sleek and elegant lines are enhanced by a paint scheme inspired by Gulf Racing colours, with a number 10 (which doesn’t only refer to racing but also to the hull number) on her quarters. Comfort on board, especially when at anchor, is improved by a pair of Seakeeper gyro stabilizers that are incredibly efficient under all conditions and require no through-hull fittings. Bertone (orange Lamborghini), Pininfarina (red Ferrari), and Zagato (green Aston Martin) are the race car designers who inspired the décor of the guest cabins. Guests can enjoy life at sea in three exterior social areas: the partially sheltered aft cockpit; the vast sundeck with its comfortable sitting area and convivial bar; or can take the sun on the large mattresses located in front of the wheel house. Live report from Cannes: Heesen's Aurelia

So far 2011 is proving to be a very busy year for Heesen Yachts, with a total of 7 deliveries in 12 months – the highest number in the last ten years. The Dutch shipyard’s current order book now stretches into 2014, with 11 yachts from 40 metres to 65 metres in design or construction. Of these yachts, 64% are of aluminium, confirming that the production of vessels in this light and strong metal is the core business of this world-renowned shipyard. The seventh delivery of 2011 will take place in late December when YN 15555, the first 55m displacement yacht, will join the Heesen fleet – a clear demonstration that Heesen Yachts has successfully expanded its business into the sector of long-range displacement vessels. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136204/image/large-385bdcaa13c2c60e0614d0ada4b258a9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/136204">The first delivery that took place this summer is the largest Heesen to-date: YN 14955, the 55m semi-displacement Quinta Essentia. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136205/image/large-b360c24fc4762254ab98efe4e4a797db.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/136205">During the sea trial Quinta Essentia reached the notable speed of 25 knots at half load, exceeding the contractually-required speed of 24 knots. Her maiden voyage from the Dutch port of Hellevoetsluis to the romantic island of Capri (taking six and a half days at an average cruising speed of 16 knots) proved that her hull, designed and tank tested by Heesen Yachts in house naval architects in consultation with Van Oossanen &amp; Associates, delivers both seaworthiness and fuel efficiency. With her striking colour scheme, developed by the owner in close collaboration with Dobroserdov Design, Quinta Essentia will certainly not pass unnoticed at the Monaco Yacht Show, where she will be on display at Quai de l’Hirondelle from 21 to 24 September. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136206/image/large-67ba87bd83e0b8670e318d3160aeee1c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/136206">The 47m displacement Ariadna (YN 15347) is seventh yacht in Heesen’s award-winning 47-Metre class. For her interior, the Owner briefed Frank Laupman from Omega Architects to take inspiration from the Moscow Ritz-Carlton hotel. The owner also requested that his suite should be on the upper deck aft, to provide added privacy and to benefit from the magnificent panorama of sea views. The opulent master bathroom is organized around a freestanding classical bath, whose 24-carat gold-plated taps are complemented with Swarovski knobs, while to ensure privacy without compromising the spatial quality of the room, frosted glass doors were selected for the shower room and the toilet. The VIP cabin, located forward on the main deck, shares its size and finishes with the master cabin. The guest cabins, each embellished with unique, classically-styled table and floor lamps, are traditionally positioned on the lower deck. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136207/image/large-f0ca5d55435c1a1065b034d2de9d379b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/136207">YN 15850 is the second vessel in the new 50m all-aluminium class with a Gross Tonnage of below 500GT. Its interior design is by Frank Laupman from Omega Architects and Star Design Ltd, the design company of the yacht’s Owner, who selected the Italian furniture manufacturer Domusnova to bring his ideas to life. Notable features include the electrically-powered, expandable dining table constructed from from glass that occupies the aft part of the main saloon, and the fireplace in the upper saloon. With a Gross Tonnage of 499GT and a top speed of 24 knots Satori is among the world’s fastest 50 metre yachts. Built on the experience of launching seventeen 44- and 47-metre custom yachts, the hull of this new 50 metre is currently the most efficient on the market. Nakhimov introduced Bannenberg &amp; Rowell to the owner who was impressed by the richness of materials and elaborate details that characterise the style of this design firm and decided to hire them to create Aurelia’s interiors. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135447/image/large-17439002a8e7e3f7d6064a67494f122b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/135447">Aurelia perfectly exemplifies the ability of Heesen Yachts to fully customise a yacht. While the other 37metre vessels sport five cabins, the owner of Aurelia wanted to offer more comfort to his guests and more space for his crew, so designated a guest cabin for the captain and made more room for the laundry. Comfort on board, especially when at anchor, is improved by a pair of Seakeeper gyro stabilizers that are incredibly efficient under all conditions and require no through-hull fittings. The main salon is divided in two; a dining area with a large rounded table and a cosy lounge space with an L-shaped sofa, two design armchairs and a fire place (by Australian company Eco Smart) that uses Bio Ethanol – a wonderful piece of design. “We gave it a pretty low level streamlined style, slightly masculine…inspired by the Dunhill cigarette lighter aesthetic” says Simon Rowell, from Bannenberg &amp; Rowell. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135448/image/large-3d1844b36328d8d9563e1113ddf2cfad.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/135448">Eight guests can be accommodated in Aurelia’s four cabins. The master suite is traditionally located forward on the main deck and the three double guest cabins – all with ensuite shower rooms – are positioned on the lower deck. Bertone (orange Lamborghini), Pininfarina (red Ferrari), and Zagato (green Aston Martin) are the race car designers who inspired the décor of the guest cabins. Guests can enjoy life at sea in three exterior social areas: the partially sheltered aft cockpit; the vast sundeck with its comfortable sitting area and convivial bar; or can take the sun on the large mattresses located in front of the wheel house. Aurelia will be on show at the Cannes Festival de la Plaisance in September 2011. Heesen Yachts launches the 37 metre superyacht Aurelia

This semi-displacement yacht represents one of the most organic superyachts built by Heesen to date, with her unique atrium-like curve in the centre and with her striking external colour scheme, designed by Dobroserdov Design, of Oyster White and Merlot Red, inspired by the owner's love for Merlot wine. Michela Reverberi decorated the interior based on a design of Ken Freivokh which incorporates sleek curves, as well as stylish custom made furniture throughout. Accommodation is provided in the form of one owner’s cabin, two large guest cabins which are convertible into one large VIP cabin, one double cabin and one twin cabin as well as one VIP cabin on the main deck. Special features include a grand piano in the main saloon, and the large swimming pool with a feature waterfall aft of the main deck. Powered by twin MTU engines she has a cruising speed of 22 knots and a top speed of 24 knots. Here she was photographed arriving in Gibraltar on her maiden voyage and she is said to now be on her way to Napoli. Heesen will be launching superyacht Aurelia later this week.
