Previously named H2ome, the yacht features exterior design by A Lab and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2445" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dobroserdov Design (Company)">Dobroserdov Design</a> and interiors from A Lab. Her naval architecture was penned by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/177" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Navirex s.r.l. She also accommodates a crew of eight. <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">SuperYacht Times</a> chats to Julia Skop, yacht broker and founder of Russian brokerage firm, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5144" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Smart Yachts (Company)">Smart Yachts</a>, about her entrance into the profession, the foundation of her firm and what it is like to be a woman in the superyacht industry.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195431/image/large-973427ea7745de05be8c9b321814041c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195431">How did you come to be involved in the yacht brokerage business and how did you come to open&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5144" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Smart Yachts (Company)">Smart Yachts</a>?To give you the short version, as a student I got a receptionist job at the 2006 Moscow Boat Show. My duties were mostly to register clients at the desk and bring coffees to meeting rooms. At that time the market was particularly active and the sales team was extremely busy, so I started to do viewings for the clients while they waited for a broker to become available. As a result, on the third day of the show I sold my first yacht, a 33-foot Canadian Doral Intrigue, for $254,000.From then I began working as a sales manager’s assistant, and worked my way up to a full sales position and then head of sales a few years later. In 2012 my friend and I started <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5144" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Smart Yachts (Company)">Smart Yachts</a> — the first office was in my kitchen and the logo was made by a friend for my birthday.&nbsp;When I worked as an employee, I was really disappointed by the company's strategy to push options we had in our list or in stock. So the idea for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5144" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Smart Yachts (Company)">Smart Yachts</a> was to offer smart solutions for our clients, by checking the client’s needs first and finding the proper yacht for their mooring place and their lifestyle. We look at a range of parameters, such as the draft, nearest service point to their mooring, fuel capacity, weather conditions in their region and quantity of guests they want to host aboard. In fact, when clients email us about a specific yacht that they’re interested in, we respond with a selection of vessels within the same category which would also be potentially great options, to show them a broader range of the market.I would say that finding the proper yacht for the particular client is the biggest inspiration for me. Happy clients and their happy days on board makes me feel that, as a company, we are moving in the right direction. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195446/image/large-da14fcef171cbea3395e75532ddf17c6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195446">With 14 years in the industry – how have you seen yacht brokerage change?The market has changed completely, from this crazy fast Mangusta &amp; <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/362" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Leopard Yachts (Company)">Leopard</a> with jet or Arneson propulsion and huge consumption, to the idea of long range and Explorer style yachts. Also new technology such as hybrid or diesel-electric, and the increased use of glass. Yacht owners have become more responsible to the environment, carbon footprint and sustainability.&nbsp;Also conversion has become more and more popular in recent years. When I started the business, conversion was not even heard of, but now our clients are more educated about yachts and have clearer access to information than they did before. This means that they have a better understanding of what is out there, and the potential for conversion yachts is huge, especially since the launch of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6788" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ragnar68.2m (223'9&quot;)Koninklijke Niestern Sander2012">Ragnar</a>, so there are definitely more people asking about that! <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195441/image/large-0fdc23d20a476dc6322f33c9296a8f50.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195441">Do you have any standout yachts sales that underline your career and that you’re particularly proud of?Any sale in my company I’m proud of. Again, it’s a long journey and we are very concentrated in long-time relations, preferably life-time relations. I’m very proud of all our repeat clients and their friends who have decided to choose our services by their recommendations. So, it’s less about the yachts, and more about the people and relations.&nbsp;As an example, we have a client who I sold a 28-foot yacht to in 2012, and over the years we have brokered his purchase of gradually larger vessels and he is now on the hunt for an 80-footer. That is a wonderful relationship and the best compliment we could have as a brokerage.&nbsp;Some notable yacht that we can mention are the 45-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1362" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MMGI Shipyard (Company)">MMGI</a> superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2423" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Blade44.7m (146'8&quot;)MMGI Shipyard2010">Blade</a>, the 39-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/112" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Custom Line Spa (Company)">Custom Line</a> superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6478" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Amelia38.36m (125'10&quot;)Custom Line Spa2018">Amelia</a>, ex. O, and one of the Majesty 120 line from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/955" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Gulf Craft (Company)">Gulf Craft</a>. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/170639/image/large-1c15dde64948872fed4d4229f76d5aa4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/170639"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5144" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Smart Yachts (Company)">Smart Yachts</a>&nbsp;are now in London, Monaco as well as in Russia. How do you find the Russian market compares to the British and Mediterranean market?I would say that we have about 70% Russian speaking clients, not only from Russia but also from Ukraine, Belarus, etc., though we do have an increasingly international client base. Russian clients are an unusual market because in Russia, most buyers start off with smaller yachts, up to the 24-metre mark, which can be used for inland cruising on the rivers and the Black Sea.&nbsp;Gradually the size of their yachts increase as they get comfortable with cruising, and they tend to move onto superyachts in the Mediterranean after a few years. That's another reason why it’s so important to build a loyal client base who come to you for all of their yacht purchases over the years, as well as their refits and restorations.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195447/image/large-ce7c9bd19a10e15d96f7bfcc3289df8b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195447">As a young woman in the yachting industry, what advice would you give to other women starting out in the majority male field?I would say that it’ll be a long journey and there is no sense to start out in this industry without a passion for yachting. During the refit, the superyacht’s complete interior was redesigned to a design of Michela Reverberi. The yacht is powered by twin 1925hp Caterpillar engines, combined with a 4350 hp Vericor TF50 gas turbine. SuperYacht Times recently had the pleasure of interviewing Andrea Carlevaris, founder of the international company Andrea Carlevaris &amp; Partners (ACP) with offices in Monaco and Italy.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150103/image/large-8747828dc48ed00c854d9cdded78bfbe.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150103">ACP specializes in naval engineering, project management, and surveying. The company is characterized by its technical expertise combined with the use of state of the art diagnostic tools, as well as an uncompromised sense of ethics. The ACP team of project managers and surveyors is among the most proficient in the yachting industry today. Thanks to clear vision, hard work, and a true passion for yachting, the company has experienced significant growth in the past few years.Andrea Carlevaris yearned to be at sea from an early age. He began his career as an engineer officer on board cruise ships where he earned his Unlimited Chief Engineer License.From 1994 until 2005 he worked on board some of the most prestigious superyachts, both sailing and motor.Driven by his passion for sailing, Andrea Carlevaris decided to leave the cruise ship industry for a more intimate encounter with the sea. In 1994 he accepted the position of engineer on the 90’ sailboat Whitefin.Clearly overqualified for the job, Andrea joined the yacht with the stipulation he would be allowed to work on deck and have the opportunity to steer the yacht. After all, it was this desire that had initially prompted him to give up working on the large cruise ships.What factors have most influenced Andrea’s business development?According to Andrea, “I see my current business endeavors as a natural result of the accumulated technical expertise I acquired while working in the military, commercial, and yachting industry. This is of course combined with the fact that I saw a market in need of greater technical expertise and engineering knowledge and I set out to fill that void.”Today, ACP offers a broad range of services from pre-purchase surveys to complete project management of New Builds and Refits. As a result, Andrea has established his reputation in the industry by consistently demanding the highest quality for his clients. He comments: “If you are looking for someone who you can completely trust to look after your investment, you have come to the right place.When we are supervising a new build, the process begins in one of two ways: either revising an existing build specification provided by the shipyard, or, if needed, drawing one up from scratch. Once the project has been initiated, the next step in the process is to support the client through the contract signature phase and the build process where we project manage as well as survey the quality of the construction. Throughout the entire process we ensure that the work quality remains uncompromised and the project proceeds as planned.In addition to these services, we are also able to assist crew with gearing up and taking control of the yacht. As we have ourselves experienced working on yachts at sea, we know the needs of the captain and his crew.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150104/image/large-06df4b759e5164b7f3375f7397ecdc2d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150104">What about pre-purchase surveys and other specialty technical services?When it comes to pre-owned yachts, it is a matter of recognizing the risks or short comings if any should exist. Otherwise, we would reassure the buyer that the yacht is in a good state – if in fact this is the case. This is what we achieve with our Pre- Purchase Surveys. At times, our expertise is called upon to settle claims or to solve technical situations where improvements or repairs are needed. We perform the tasks with the utmost care and our in-house naval architects are definitely an asset.This is all well and good but aside from being experienced and giving valuable advice are you actually an accredited Marine Surveyor?All our surveyors at ACP are accredited. I am a Full Member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying and my colleagues are registered surveyors and registered naval architects in Italy. I believe that in order to obtain proper advice on technical matters only certified people should be involved. Our clients can also rely on the fact that we have a fully-certified in-house FROSIO paint inspector. As training and experience are prerequisites for becoming a FROSIO surveyor, ACP can be trusted as being amongst the best in the industry when it comes to paint matters.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150105/image/large-ba9d0e9238da12e99c30505963b828e7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150105">We were told that you have also successfully supervised refits.Yes this is indeed true, and it is becoming so more and more often. In fact, after the purchase is finalized, a number of our clients entrust us with improving the newly acquired yacht with a well-planned refit. After the survey has been completed we are in the best position to advise which work should have priority and which of the tasks can wait for a more suitable time.Helping with shipyard cost quotes and shortlisting the best shipyards for the purposes of the refit is also a great benefit for the Owners and Captains.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150106/image/large-30d68da62e554b04df5b389492c66ead.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150106">When projects such as refits or new builds have been successfully concluded, ACP can continue to support the yacht by being its back up technical office. This valuable service enables Captains and Engineers to more efficiently run the yacht, prepare for Flag State, or other statutory audits and inspections.The quality of work and the increased esteem for ACP is reflected by the success of their recent projects, consisting of 6 refits just this winter and 3 new builds on the go, the last one having just been delivered last month.Carlevaris discussed the projects with SuperYacht Times, commenting: We just delivered the latest AB116 sold by Verpeka Dolling where we did the specifications review and technical supervision. The yacht reached an outstanding speed of 53 knots and it took the record time of 6 months from the stage of bare hull and superstructure to the finished yacht.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150107/image/large-0e943ead31753ea2983bcfde183ccdd4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150107">We also did an important refit on the Nauchmachos 82 - M/Y Akula (Formerly Bodry I) where the whole engine room was revised and some of the interiors were upgraded as well as a zero speed stabilization system retrofitted.We just delivered a winter Refit/Class 5-year renewal Mangusta 130 M/Y Mao and are currently overseeing a refit of a Mangusta 105;The 50 mt M/Y Nafisa and the 36mt Leopard M/Y KOJI are repeated customers for the winter season this year as well.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/150108/image/large-76a32e5054b9eda1271ef79fd0b06be1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/150108">With regards to new builds we are about to deliver a Sanlorenzo 92 and we are building a Sanlorenzo 110 and a Sanlorenzo 46mt both for delivery in 2015. We also did about 20 pre-purchase surveys ranging from 110’ to 80 metre since the beginning of the year.”We would also like to mention that we are still proudly involved with Project ADORA, the 62-metre Benetti whose construction was supervised by ACP and delivered in 2010. On board Adora there are improvements carried out on a yearly basis requested by very sophisticated Owners. After 7 years this demonstrates their interest in continuity and appreciation for quality of service. Her Owner and captain are our best testimonials!”When it comes to this yachting industry, Andrea Carlevaris has tried his hand at almost everything from working on yachts, surveying yachts, building yachts, and project management. So is there anything left on his wish list for the future?He tells us: “Probably some extreme project which would combine our experience with military building and commercial sailing on luxury cruise ships. The latest superyacht to join the charter fleet of Fraser Yachts is the 44 metre motor yacht Blade. Originally built by MMGI as H2ome, Blade underwent a 8-month major refit at Monaco Marine in La Ciotat and now features an outstanding blue hull with chrome finish.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136895/image/large-fff00e3609da9928a678ee55f2ac28e5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/136895"> Photo by Couleurcassis.com for Monaco MarineThe complete interior of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2423" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Blade</a> was redesigned to a design of Michela Reverberi and executed by the Austrian interior firm Sinnex. A new climate-control system was installed by Heinen &amp; Hopman and the yacht now also has 3 ‘Sea Keeper’ Gyro-Stabiliser units for comfort at anchor and sea. The bridge was completly redesigned and the Vericor TF50 Gas Turbine was upgraded and relocated.Superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2423" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Blade</a> is available for charter in the South of France from € 125,000 per week.

Lift-Emotion, known for designing every elevator desired by customer or architect, has had a busy year so far.Mike Brandt tells us the company worked on some very large, yet highly confidential projects, in the 80 metre + range, but also on some smaller projects. These projects include the refit of superyacht H2ome. For this record breaking 85.6m yacht, Lift Emotion delivered two custom made marine elevators. The delivery consisted of a completely custom passenger elevator and dumbwaiter. The passenger elevator was designed with a steel coated cabin customized by the interior designer, Liz Dalton, with state of the art high end finishes. Lift-Emotion at the Monaco Yacht Show

Superyacht broker Jan-Jaap Minnema of Fraser Yachts just informed SYT that his third sale of this month closed today. Built to ABS rules, the all aluminium superyacht is powered by twin 3,000hp Caterpillar 3516B diesel engines which propel her up to a top speed of 20 knots and cruise speed of 16 knots. Accommodation is provided for 10 guests in 1 master, 2 double and 2 twin cabins. The superyacht will be managed by Fraser Management and will undergo a refit soon, which will see the addition of zero-speed stabilizers. After her refit <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2304">Sensation</a> will join the charter fleet of Fraser Yachts and at the end of next Summer she will set sail to China, where she will be one of the largest superyachts in the country, if not the largest! Superyacht Sensation sold by Fraser Yachts and Ocean Independence

Central agents Jan-Jaap Minnema and Vassilis Fotilas of Fraser Yachts Monaco have just announced the sale of the 44 metre superyacht H2ome, only two months after she was listed for sale.
