Huisfit signs refit contracts with Skat, Hyperion, Athena and Adele

The schooner Borkumriff IV recently confirmed they will join the impressive line-up of yachts for this year's Superyacht Cup in Palma. Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and built by Royal Huisman, she was launched in 2002 from their yard in Holland. At 51 metres and with a displacement of almost 300 tons, Borkumriff IV is the largest yacht taking part this year.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/148233/image/large-eb0e3caa275b3b18c127618706a705cf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148233">Borkumriff IV last took part in the Superyacht Cup in Palma in 2007 where for the first time she raced against her sister ship Meteor who had been launched just weeks before. Winner Sailing Yacht Exterior Styling The recreation of an authentically classic style, while using modern technology and providing modern amenities, is not a straightforward task, especially when the modern high-tech element of the yacht must remain in the background. Dykstra &amp; Partners has become an expert in this field while working on J-Class and other sailing yachts from past eras, and the judges felt that their outstanding work on Meteor was well deserving of this award. Winner Sailing Yacht in the 45m+ size range While Meteor is, in appearance, a classic yacht, everything else about her is completely state-of-the-art, from her carbon fibre spars and standing rigging to her sails controls and machinery. On top of the excellent performance shown in her polar diagrams, the judges admired the perfection of her design, both interior and exterior and the superlative quality of her construction. Schooner Meteor Inspired by the owner's love for the Gloucester Schooners, Meteor is a traditional Schooner for the experienced sailor and marine entrepreneur designed and built to the latest yachting standards. Comfortable and performance orientated. Her design was based on the Dykstra &amp; Partners designed Borkumriff IV, also built at Royal Huisman Shipyard. Meteor has a tradional Schooner rig but constructed from carbon fibre to enhance her sailing performance.

Schooner Meteor wins 3 awards 

With less than three weeks to go to the start of the Superyacht Cup Ulysse Nardin the Superyachts are preparing for the big gathering in Palma. Many will have guests and crew flying in from all over the world to take part in this spectacular sailing event. The captains and crew will be preparing their yachts for optimal performance, as well as planning for all the requirements of their owners and guests for their visit to Mallorca. From fitting new sails and rigging, to ordering flowers and hairdressers, every conceivable request is being anticipated to ensure the Superyacht Cup is an event to be remembered by all taking part. The fleet will be split into two classes in order to best match similarly-performing yachts together; although the yachts are all very different sizes, designs and styles, it is anticipated that the sailing will be very competitive. Of the 55 yachts currently entered, there will be several matchings of yachts eager to show their best performance and please the owners, designers and shipyards. The two J-class yachts, <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/251">Velsheda</a> (39.5m) and <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/432">Ranger</a> (41.2m), will continue their on-the-water battle, as will the racing maxis Alfa Romeo (30m) and Wild Oats (30m). Two of the Royal Huisman yachts, <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/374">Meteor</a> and <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1127">Borkumriff IV</a> (both 50m) will be evenly matched for an exciting first outing against each other. There will also be the Wallys Dark Shadow (30m) and Magic Carpet (29m) and the Dubois boats Janice of Wyoming (39m) and <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/411">Kokomo of London</a> (40m) who will be having their own private duels as well as competing against the rest of the fleet. Amongst the Perinis, Perseus (49.8) and Klosters (45.4) will be demonstrating their power and prowess. The Superyacht Cup incorporating The New Zealand Millennium Cup is expecting up to 60 yachts from 27m to over 80m length overall. It will be held at Dique del Oeste in Palma, Mallorca, June 16 -19th 2007.
