Portofino Regate di Primavera 2023 is an invitation-only sailing event filled with some of the best-known Italian boat manufacturers. American yacht builder Christensen announced yesterday that their 50-metre motor yacht that is currently under construction, Hull 38, will remain under American ownership following the sale of the project this week to a pair of experienced yachtsmen from New Jersey. The project is only six months from completion at the shipyard in the state of Washington and was initially commissioned by shipyard Chairman, Henry Luke. 50m Christensen Hull 38 sold to American owners

Christensen Shipyards joined the hull and superstructure of its 50-metre project known as Hull 38 last week. The yacht has now been moved into one of the yard’s build halls that were made available following the launch of the two yachts <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4818" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Chasseur50.0m (164'1&quot;)">Chasseur</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1266" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Silver Lining50.0m (164'1&quot;)">Silver Lining</a> last summer.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/5759/image/large-38ac14222b5ffff6055dc3b4b9eb00c3.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/5759">The shipyard is currently completing the yacht’s wiring and plumbing systems after which the high-gloss interior woodwork can be installed. The world’s largest outdoor boat show kicked off yesterday where hundreds of new and brokerage yachts are on display this week in the Sunshine State. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show runs until Monday 7th November.

Following a spell of cloudy days and unfavourable circumstances at American yacht builder Christensen Shipyards, the company returned to the scene as a ray of sunshine with the completion of two very impressive 50-metre superyachts in June. With Silver Lining now out and about, ready to serve as brand ambassador at this week’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show alongside her sister, Chasseur, the forecast at Christensen predicts only sunny days ahead.

Completely designed, engineered and built in-house at the shipyard in Vancouver in the state of Washington, Silver Lining is a new breed of high volume superyachts at Christensen. Having retained that recognisable exterior which the brand has become known for, what guests will find inside is rather different than previous Christensens.

New structural changes to the proven 50-metre platform allowed them to further enlarge key guest spaces such as saloons and cabins to essentially deliver the shipyard’s largest yacht to date.

Christensen worked with the owner’s designer, Kimberley Graham on the styling of Silver Lining’s interior throughout. Traditional black walnut paneling and classical touches in the décor give the yacht a sense of grandeur and American upper class.

As there are no side walkways on the upper deck, the upper saloon is particularly spacious. Intimate seating areas, a large bar, and dining area with a view will make this deck a sure favourite amongst guests.

Silver Lining accommodates up to 12 guests across 6 staterooms. Her luxurious and very homely master suite takes up the traditional prized real estate forward on the main deck. An oversized porthole on each side of the cabin provides exceptional views from the comfort of one’s bed. The en suite bathroom is a masterful display of stonework that gives the suite a real authentic feel.

Five additional cabins, two VIP, a double, and two twins, are located on the lower deck for the owner’s family and friends.

The faultless attention to detail is continued outside where is becomes clear that Silver Lining was made for family escapes. The sun deck is perfect for large groups looking to relax and take in the surrounding views. A Jacuzzi at the forward part of this deck, surrounded by sunpads, makes for a perfect sundowner spot.

Although her owner plans on cruising the east coast of the U.S.A. up to Newport this winter season, Silver Lining is also more than capable of reaching destinations further afield with a respectable trans-Atlantic range of 4,000nm.

Superyacht of the Week: Christensen’s 50m Silver Lining

This past summer, Christensen Shipyards made a splash with the launch of the two 50-metre superyachts, Silver Lining and Chasseur. Today we take a closer look at the silver-hulled Chasseur.

As with many of their previous projects, Chasseur was designed in-house by the American shipyard who worked together with fellow Washington state-based VARO Interior Design on the indoor guest spaces.

Chasseur’s 12 guests are accommodated across six suites, split over two levels. Those signature oval hull portholes on main deck is what give the full-beam master suite such an airy and spacious atmosphere. A highly contemporary interior finished in a luxury apartment style creates an instant at-home feel with a selction of nautical inspired elements serving as a reminder that one is indeed at sea.

Five additional double guest cabins, one of which being the VIP suite, are located on the lower deck. Her nine-metre beam and light GRP construction allow these waterline-level guest spaces to retain a generous size with a bright décor and crisp white surfaces further enhancing this feeling.

Despite Chasseur’s signature Christensen exterior styling, modern elements are scattered across the interior and exterior deck spaces. Fresh and funky furnishings, quirky art pieces and playful colour matching all signifying that Chasseur is all about fun.

Cruising at a steady 14 knots, Chasseur is capable of crossing a distance in excess of 4000 nm, making transatlantic missions child’s play.

Onboard: Christensen's new 50m superyacht Chasseur

Less than a week after the unveiling of their 50 metre superyacht named Silver Lining, Christensen Shipyards has launched yet another 50 metre at their facility in Vancouver: this time the silver-hulled Chasseur.

Christensen reports that the two yachts will now embark on a series of river and sea trials ahead of delivery to their respective owners next month. Both yachts are also expected to make the journey to Florida in August where they will be on display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November.

“I really have to tip my hat to our boat builders, who have worked long hours — some of them more than a month straight without break — to enable us to keep to a tight launch schedule with an equally demanding delivery timeline to follow,” had company President Jim Gilbert to say. “It’s just another example of the new attitude at Christensen of getting the job done on time and on budget no matter what the challenge.”

50m Christensen superyacht Chasseur launched

American shipyard Christensen Yachts is getting ready to unveil their first newly completed superyacht project since the company has undergone a change of ownership in July 2015. The 50m Silver Lining, or hull 36 as she has been known throughout her build, is set to hit the water next month.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/159460/image/large-4f04d94d13b237f256f702a68a5314c8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/159460">Jon Gilbert, Christensen’s new President, is clearly very excited about the new developments that is seeing the yard retuning to its yacht building strengths. “From the minute the gates were reopened, everyone at the shipyard has been dedicated to the timely and efficient construction of the four boats now underway. She accommodates up to 12 guests over six staterooms and is built to ABS Unlimited Cruising and under 300 U.S. regulatory gross tonnage.Further on going projects include the 48.7 metre hull 40, named Chasseur, and is on schedule for a delivery in the first quarter of 2016. The 50 metre Hull 42 is also underway, and is expected to be delivered in late 2017. The sistership to Silver Lining, Hull 38, has been moved into production and is scheduled to be delivered in early 2018 and is also currently available for purchase.

She accommodates up to 12 guests over six staterooms and is built to ABS Unlimited Cruising and under 300 U.S. regulatory gross tonnage. She’ll make her debut to the industry in 2016. Four superyachts in production at Christensen

Working up to this year's Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Christensen closed three contracts during Sandy's wrath. On Thursday at FLIBS, with Christian Bakewell of Merle Wood and Associates, Christensen closed new customers on Project "C-2014" which was previously sold to another Christensen customer. This yacht is a 160' Custom Series, sister-ship to Odessa and Remember When. It will feature high gloss walnut and traditional furnishings, along with intricate stonework and various features the Custom Series are known for: elevator at all levels; six staterooms; and large sun-deck with ten person Jacuzzi, BBQ, bar and dining under the hard top. This yacht is scheduled for delivery January 2014.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/141610/image/large-ce0419e70ee0ace47effd9ac4719317f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/141610">On Friday at FLIBS, Christensen closed a repeat purchase which will be called M/Y "Chasseur." This yacht will be a 164' Custom Series featuring a new contemporary exterior by the Christensen design team. Many of the same features of the Custom Series are included, however, this yacht will be LY-3 Compliant. Other new features include a pop-out balcony at the sky lounge; larger outdoor spaces at aft main, bridge and sun decks; wrap-around glass at the main salon. It will have a minimalist style interior designed by Tonya Lance of VARO Interior Design. The palette is light and bright with bleached sycamore wall panels and overheads, teak and cream wood flooring throughout the interior and exterior of the vessel, and exotic stonework with the master head completely fabricated with exquisite and one-of-a-kind Caesar Stone. M/Y Chasseur is scheduled for delivery December 2014.Finally, on Saturday at FLIBS, Christensen closed a contract with Mr. John Rosatti, Dawn Kimball and family, owners of prior Christensen yachts, the 2005 157' Custom Series "Nice n Easy" and currently the 2011 162' Custom Series "Remember When." The Project name is "Trifecta," and will be a 164' Custom Series featuring a contemporary exterior by the Christensen design team. This yacht, like Chasseur, will be LY-3 Compliant. Project Trifecta will have a gray hull, pop-out balcony at the sky lounge; larger outdoor spaces at aft main, bridge and sun decks; wrap-around glass at the main salon. The interior will be more contemporary with lighter woods including maple and sycamore with burl inlays and intricate stonework with metal and onyx inlays, among other special features and accessories Mr. Rosatti, Dawn and family will keep under wraps until its debut in September 2015.Joe Foggia, Christensen's CEO commented: "We at Christensen have worked hard and invested much in acquiring and processing feedback from our customers, their crews and surveyors, along with the yacht brokerage community. All in an effort to create yachts that allow them to operate universally and trouble-free while using them, as well as commanding the strongest re-sales in the industry when it's time to move on. Christensen signs multiple new superyacht contracts

Christensen Shipyard has sold a Custom 160 superyacht to Mr Donald A. Burns, who previously owned the 36.58 metre superyacht Cacique, now First Draw. Mr Burns is the 20th client who has returned to Christensen for a new yacht. The superyacht will be one of the first US flagged yachts with the capabilities of commercial charter in Europe for up to 12 passengers.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/138114/image/large-fb261978fd7b79e6e1714be1d890faf6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/138114">While the yacht’s exterior lines are designed by the in-house team of Christensen, the interior will be designed by Tonya Lance of VARO Interior Design. The interior will accommodate 12 guests in 6 well-appointed staterooms.The light grey hulled superyacht will be powered by twin Caterpillar 3512 engines, with a range of over 4,000 nautical miles, and features ZeroSpeed-At Anchor stabilisers.Christensen says that building this yacht will create over 100 manufacturing jobs in the United States. The yacht is scheduled for delivery in September 2013.
