The first of her kind, Benetti's project FB701 is a step in a new direction in terms of styling and level of customisation. The exterior of the project is as defined and determined as the owner’s spirit and suited to the particular yachting lifestyle he has come to love from owning up to four Benetti’s over the years. As a prime ambassador of the Italian brand, working closely together with Domani’s owner Benetti has proved that clients can have tomorrow’s levels of comfort and technology, today.

As an experienced yacht owner who enjoys a close relationship with the Benetti shipyard, the owner of Domani has over the years come to appreciate the various classes of yachts on offer by the Italian builder, but was still in search of a yacht that would bear his personal stamp of personality. For his fifth Benetti he did exactly that and the build of Domani ran very similar to that of a full custom project and the experience led the shipyard to turn this into a fully-fledged line of yachts, with hull number two now in construction.

Autonomy on board and the ability to operate around the world under various sets of circumstances was one of the very first design briefs of the project. This had to be achieved by also delivering large relaxation areas that would accommodate an extensive family of all ages in complete safety and comfort. By creating a smart layout that joins interior and exterior spaces in an organic manner, the 45-metre Domani offers her guests social spaces that is comparable to that of a much longer yacht.

With the transom door folded down, guests have a 33 square metre beach club at their disposal that comes with bar area and day head. Directly forward of this is the tender bay from where Domani’s tender and two jet skis are launched through a side-opening hull door for endless hours of fun on the water.

A semi-flush Portuguese deck is used as a 100 square metre outdoor lounge from where guests can enjoy the cooling sea breeze and unspoilt views.

To ensure maximum freedom and a sense of freshness on all aft-facing decks, railings have been kept low and the durable construction allowed for few supporting stations and fashion plates to be used that could possibly ruin the view. These decks have clearly been designed with large gatherings in mind as can be seen in the oversized furnishings and functional layout that provides ample space to move about.

The sundeck sits at the top of all these spaces much like a luxurious and airy villa would at the top of a hillside in Capri. Here guests can escape to a deck that offers everything for a perfect day at anchor, from an outdoor lounge, forward bar and Jacuzzi area as well as a family-sized circular dining table that is sure to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience whether it’s a Mediterranean lunch or formal dinner under the moonlit sky.

The Studio Galeazzi, together with architect Paola Asaro, has designed the yacht’s interiors with the precise intention of creating a boat that reflects the owner’s personality and showcases a ‘Made in Italy’ excellence. The team made use of loose furniture throughout the interior to match the ever-changing and easy-going nature of the yacht and her itinerary.

As midnight approaches, guests can retire to the four cabins on the lower deck while the owners’ full-beam cabin awaits on the main deck above.

Waking up in the morning is a breeze as a self-deploying private balcony will soon become the breakfast spot of choice for the owner and makes the suite feel twice as large when opened.

The main deck is made up of an outdoor area in the stern that acts as entrance lobby and a spacious lounge featuring full-height windows with a seamless 180-degree view.

Domani’s bridge is what captains’ dreams are made of. Controlling those two powerful CAT C32 engines is a modern navigation console by Team Italia. The owner’s love for cruising and all things high-tech is beautifully captured in the design and execution of the bridge panel and will no doubt lead the family to spend more time up here when underway.

Superyacht of the Week: discovering Domani

TEAM Italia has recently presented the innovative i-Bridge® four Islands system, developed to integrate three functional requirements that are specific to both navigation and onboard safety: modern systems, modern ergonomics and modern technologies. The resulting ergonomics are more in tune with the features of the latest onboard systems based on an advanced modular layout.

Inspired by the concepts of e-navigation, a group of experts from the TEAM Italia’s R&amp;D Department, led by Daniele Ceccanti, co-founder of the company and R&amp;D Director, worked for 16 months on the project. Top manufacturers from all over the world placed their prototypes at TEAM Italia’s disposal with the aim of testing them and assisting with the work of releasing and preparing those applications which are best suited to integrate with onboard equipment.

“We’re always on the lookout for technological innovations so we can develop and integrate our i-Bridge solutions,” commented Daniele Ceccanti. “I’ve personally had extensive experience in the world of commercial shipping where the concept of e-navigation, about which there has been much talk over the past year, will most certainly be a factor of primary importance in the future. What is essential, however, is the way in which we can bring it into the world of pleasure boating, which has totally different ship handling rules. This was the spark which drove us to push further to determine new parameters and layouts which work well with the requests of our owners and captains.”

The modules have been studied very carefully and feature arrangements which will adapt to the wheelhouse and type of ship on which they are to be installed. The layout presented at the Monaco Yacht Show was studied for superyachts measuring 60 metres and over.

Just some of the superyachts launched this year that have already integrated the i-Bridge system include the 70 metre Perini Navi-built Sybaris, Admiral’s 54.5 metre Quinta Essentia, and Wider Yachts’ 47 metre Genesi and the 45 metre Domani built by Benetti.

“Careful analysis of our market,” commented Massimo Minnella, co-founder and CEO of TEAM Italia, “led us to design i-Bridge four Islands. Indeed, we noticed that there’s been a gradual move towards Giga Yachts over the past few years, and TEAM Italia is structured to develop increasingly more innovative technologies and services which can respond to this market’s specific demands.”

Innovative i-Bridge system on board 2016’s new superyachts

After the very first launch announcement of Benetti’snew FB 701 45 metre superyacht Domani last week here on SYT, comes new details and images of the unveiling of this custom yacht built for a repeat Central American client. The owner collaborated closely with the yard in creating his fourth Benetti superyacht.

Benetti’s in-house design team came up with the yacht’s exterior styling with designer Carlo Galeazzi selected to create the interior guest spaces. The efficient use of space is one of the peculiarities of this below 500 GT full displacement yacht.

The sky lounge on the upper deck overlooks the outdoor area through a huge glass door at full height and full width (about 8 meters) creating a unique indoor-outdoor effect. The dining area becomes a pleasant “al-fresco” place.

New 45m Benetti superyacht Domani images

Benetti spent last week launching the 45 metre FB 701 superyacht named Domani. Built for a repeat Central American client, the yacht is unlike anything ever unveiled by the Italian yard within this size range, and features a distinctive top deck structure. Benetti is yet to comment on the project, but it is believed that she features an interior by Carlo Galeazzi.

Benetti launches 42 metre project FB701 Domani

The hull and superstructure of a new Benetti superyacht were recently moved to the Benetti shipyard to be completed. The yacht is hull 701, a 42 metre scheduled to be delivered in 2016.
