Portofino Regate di Primavera 2023 is an invitation-only sailing event filled with some of the best-known Italian boat manufacturers. The regatta returns in June, and will include all of the traditional events, as well as a few new ones. Rebuilt as a luxury yacht for an experienced Greek owner, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4275" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dream106.5m (349'5&quot;)">Dream</a> is the largest private yacht in the world to fly the Maltese flag. Italian design studios Giorgio Vafiasis &amp; Associates and CQS are behind the exterior and interior styling of the project respectively.

The largest Maltese-flagged superyacht arrived in her home port this week as the rebuild project of the 106-metre motor yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/688" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dream57.3m (187'12&quot;)">Dream</a> came to an end after nearly a decade. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/43378/image/large-09fac8fcf77f732c616f2900e9882d90.JPG" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43378"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/688" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dream57.3m (187'12&quot;)">Dream</a> started life as a passenger vessel built by the Turkish shipyard, Halic Tersanleri. It was in 2008 when design studio Giorgio Vafiadis &amp; Associates first <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Article/32411" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Giorgio Vafiadis presents the 106 metre Dream (2008-10-20 00:00:00 +0200)">unveiled</a> a new design of the project with initial estimates indicating that the yacht would be completed by 2011. It was only in 2013 that the project was heard from again when CQS from Milan <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Article/41262" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Interior of 106 metre Poseidonos refit project unveiled (2013-09-30 00:00:00 +0200)">announced</a> that the studio was in charge of the design of the yacht’s interior under the project name Poseidonos. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/43375/image/large-09cef757c81898c946f1fcd7be887f56.JPG" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43375">In March this year, the vessel was seen conducting tests at sea for the first time after the lengthy shipyard period, indicating that the project might finally be at an end after nearly 10 years.Undertaken by an experienced Greek owner, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/688" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dream57.3m (187'12&quot;)">Dream’s</a> conversion project took place in Greece (presumably at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/712" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Chalkis Shipyard SA (Company)">Chalkis Shipyards S.A.</a>) where the yacht’s interior was rebuilt to house, amongst other features, 23 guest cabins, three formal dining rooms, a business centre and wellness area. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/43376/image/large-79cd0c6a168d9503fb1ae2e48eda3159.JPG" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43376">The project has been a lifelong ambition of the owner, and in a <a href="https://www.tvm.com.mt/en/news/the-largest-luxurious-super-yacht-registered-in-malta-is-100-metres-long/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">video</a> released by a local Maltese news network today, he gives viewers a glimpse into his new home which he is planned to cruise around the world with.

106m converted superyacht Dream completed

CQS directors Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda introduced their Milan design studio, a 106-metre refit project and three project partners – Ferreira de Sá, MVS &amp; Associates and Tabu – during the Monaco Yacht Show.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/145870/image/large-c574c6a4653617a6a5642f0c47e3ce68.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/145870">Building in Greece and due for launch in 2014, the 106-metre superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4275" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dream106.0m (347'9&quot;)">Poseidonos</a> is a major refit project for which CQS is completely responsible for the interior design, which will have a theme of retro modern as requested by the client. Responsibility also includes the selection and assignment of contractors.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/145871/image/large-fc6cafe453c1c1513e3bb628feac28da.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/145871">23 Guest cabins, 19 crew cabins, three dining rooms, one teppanyaki dining, theatre, business centre plus a gymnasium, spa, swimming pool and diving centre are laid out over six decks.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/145872/image/large-3bd4683e9590d3de726b1086c37ad421.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/145872">CQS brings a lighter and more contemporary interpretation of the owner’s initial ideas by creating a boiserie, free from unnecessary features. Very sleek rectangular framings are outlined by brushed metal inserts. Tay is the wood selected to blend boiseries and floorings. In the corridors, the boiserie becomes fabric panelling with leather framings.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/145873/image/large-0477aadd8c9602877ddee97925c6e7e5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/145873">Exquisite marbles with geometrical designs feature in the lobby floors. Within this setting bespoke furniture is inspired by a retro-revised concept.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/145874/image/large-eda0ac427ce6240224103a05c0c0404c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/145874">Materials are leather, galuchat, eel, lacquer, murano crystal, onyx, calacatta oro, portoro, sodalite and verde venezia marbles. Finest Loro Piana fabrics and carpets provide maximum comfort and a luxurious welcoming feeling throughout the interiors of the vessel.

In 2008 we were the first to publish news of a 106 metre superyacht that was being converted in Greece, to a design by Giorgio Vafiadis &amp; Associates. Built to Germanische Lloyds &amp; Solas classification, Dream was then expected to launch 2011. We have recently received this photo of the yacht, taken about a year ago, which seems to show that the yacht at that point had reached the final phase of construction.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/142225/image/large-45cb5ccdd9b80137dbb1cf63d42ef13f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/142225">According to the information from 2008, Dream features a 130 square metre owner’s suite with 2 bathrooms, 2 walk-in-closets, 2 studies and a private dining room. Guests can be accomodated in 12 suites; they won’t be bored during their time onboard either, as the yacht has a large beauty salon with a spa, gym and indoor pool. The yacht has 5 cabins for executive staff and 4 cabins for assistants.
