It’s the third unit from the line and will sit alongside the 32-metre Acciaio 105 <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6157" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Gatto 32.0m (104'12&quot;)Cantiere delle Marche (CdM)2018">Gatto</a> and the 37.35-metre Acciaio 123 <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6158" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Astrum37.35m (122'6&quot;)Cantiere delle Marche (CdM)2019">Astrum</a>. She’ll be the largest from the series with a length of 39.42-metres and a beam of 8 metres. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/215676/image/large-7cbd2e3e44b6b6bc63480f7ed138fc2c.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/215676">Much like her sister ships, the Acciaio 130 is a semi-custom motor yacht that features a design and naval architecture drawn up by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1181" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hydro Tec S.r.l. (Company)">Sergio Cutolo/Hydro Tec</a>. She’s characterised by a tri-decked configuration, a flared bow and sweeping exterior lines.The owner has requested two master suites: one on the main deck forward and the second will be full-beam and located on the lower deck, amidship. She’ll also be equipped with two more guest cabins, which will also be situated on the lower deck. Other key features include a 30 square-metre gym on the upper deck and an impressive skylounge on her sundeck. An all-new CdM 39m Acciaio 130 has been revealed – and sold

Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) has announced a record number of projects in their construction book. With ten projects currently under contract measuring between 31 and 43 metres, together they measure a total length of 368 metres.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/678/image/large-3025ddc033645e1cd0335e1f7fddf3b7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/678">&nbsp;"Thanks to them and to our committed and passionate management, Cantiere delle Marche has a solid double-digit growth and its production is growing in both figures and quality,"&nbsp;says Gabriele Virgili, Cantiere delle Marche's chairman and majority shareholder.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/35393/image/large-1d6b6a918def1fffe47bcadb4fbd55bb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/35393">The company already delivered the 32-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6157" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Gatto 32.0m (104'12&quot;)">Gatto</a> earlier this year and is set to deliver two more yachts later this year; &nbsp;the Nauta Air 110' Mimi La Sardine and the Darwin 102' Tenggiri. All four superyachts measure between 39 and 40 metres and include three projects that were unveiled earlier this year. One is the 39.5m Spadolini designed explorer yacht project CP, another the 40m project MG 129 and lastly the 40m flexplorer project Aurelia. &nbsp;A new project on the list is the Acala 2, which is a 39-metre one-off project. No further details have been unveiled about this project yet, however, it is safe to assume she will be a new yacht for the owner of the 31m CDM <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5644" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Acala31.09m (102'0&quot;)">Acala</a>.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/43829/image/large-71c5edb67c0b2bc74811d0ff407d8362.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43829">The Italian company has two new projects set to launch in 2021, both Darwin class projects. Record number of superyachts under contract at CdM

Explorer-style yachts, once a relatively niche market, have been making their way into the mainstream superyacht market for years. Designed with an unrivalled capacity to freely roam the Earth’s oceans for extended periods of time, the draw of an explorer yacht is not hard to understand, harking back to the ages of exploration and discovery. In order to examine this emerging trend more in-depth, we sit down with Vasco Buonpensiere, the Co-Founder of Cantiere delle Marche (<a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/companies/cantiere-delle-marche">CdM</a>) to discuss five things you should know when building an explorer yacht.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/43794/image/large-1dbde0dad2df06555d3479c16b8b4547.JPG" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43794">1. &nbsp; &nbsp;The Brief&nbsp;The first and foremost consideration for owners when building an explorer yacht is to properly mull over how they plan to use the yacht and where they want to go. This may sound like an obvious suggestion, but if you plan on cruising in the Arctics, different considerations need to be made than if you are planning to explore the Indian Ocean and all of her archipelagos.With an explorer yacht, Buonpensiere advises a range of 5000 nm at 10 knots minimum in order to ensure your new vessel can and will bring you where you want to go.It is crucial that the specifications of the yacht under consideration match the brief. Those icy waters of the Arctic means you need a thicker steel hull to help avoid any damage caused by slicing through the ice. Buonpensiere recalls a Nauta Air 111 on which a customer ordered a 20mm steel hull for just that reason.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/43829/image/large-71c5edb67c0b2bc74811d0ff407d8362.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43829">2. &nbsp; &nbsp;The DesignWhen it comes to designing explorer yachts, style is important, but functionality and usability are much more important according to CdM. Consider the distances explorers are expected to cover and the time away from shore the vessel will endure. Designing a yacht apt to meeting these challenges means including things like enough storage space so that the vessel doesn't need to restock for at least 30 days and onboard workshops with spare parts for repairs at sea.&nbsp;Stability and seaworthiness are also important factors to consider when designing explorers with CdM. Buonpensiere says, “At CdM we have noticed that clients are now looking for sturdier, more reliable, less fuel burning and more manageable yachts. This perfectly describes the explorer-type yacht. We always take into account that explorer yachts are supposed to make long passages even with guests onboard, and in every kind of weather. This is the main aim of our design: function and usability.”<img src="/uploads/store/photo/43791/image/large-744aad646c281de2e416089f74585479.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43791">3. &nbsp; &nbsp;The constructionFor CdM, constructing explorer-type yachts revolves around three keywords: respect, redundancy and reliability. CdM channels this trifecta practically by ‘doubling whatever is possible’ and by engineering their vessels so that everything is accessible and thus able to be maintained at sea.“Our engine rooms and technical spaces have created our reputation,” Buonspiere states. “Since we started eight years ago, we are proud to be able to say that they have only become better and better over time. We obviously use double the steel thickness required by class where necessary, cupro nickel piping, and commercial or heavy duty grade pieces of machinery wherever possible.”In addition, Buonpensiere stresses that ‘no shortcuts can be allowed on an explorer’ as the content and quality of build, along with the materials used are key when constructing an explorer yacht.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/35393/image/large-1d6b6a918def1fffe47bcadb4fbd55bb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/35393">4. &nbsp; Choosing the right yardLike with any new build project, choosing the right yard is imperative. CdM explorer-type yacht building in its DNA: “When Ennio Cecchini and I met to discuss what kind of boats CdM would build (this was back in 2010), we had no doubts,” says Buonpensiere. “Ennio’s experience was in building commercial vessels, and my experience was with superyachts. I worked as the Sales Director at Custom Line and at CRN. Together we had already built a super sturdy small series of single-engine pocket explorers which were called Naumachos. So explorer type vessels seemed the natural avenue for CdM.” Citing 10 explorers which are all in various phases of the build process, the claim that CdM has explorer-type yacht building in its DNA appears to hold watertight. “In the 100’’ to 140’’ steel explorer segment, CdM has about 60% of the worldwide market,” adds Buonpensiere. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/43796/image/large-40b15d4221b52fdb6da7087e10af181c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43796">5. &nbsp; Keep learning and listen to your clientsCdM is constantly learning by doing. Using the practical knowledge gained from actually building explorer yachts, CdM plans to introduce an entirely new lineup of explorer series yachts in September 2018. Ideally, CdM looks forward to the day where they can build a budget-free explorer yacht so that they can implement “the many groundbreaking technological and design solutions [they] are developing.” When probed regarding the future of explorer yachts, Buonpensiere told us “there is a very clear new client profile which matches perfectly with the explorer DNA. Matching this type of client with the perfect explorer yacht has yet to be done. On top of that, a very new kind of yachting lifestyle is developing and nobody is really interpreting that change properly, both onshore and at sea.”&nbsp;As for the clientele who, Buonpensiere believes, are looking for explorer-style yachts, listening is paramount. Had CdM not carried out comprehensive market research beforehand, the explorer-type vessels that it builds might have gone unpurchased. Five things you should know when building an explorer yacht with CdM

Italian yard Cantiere Delle Marche (CdM) has announced the launch of the latest Acciaio 105 superyacht. Named Gatto and measuring 32-metres, she features interior design from Francesco Guida Design, with Hydro Tec undertaking her exterior design and naval architecture.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/35393/image/large-1d6b6a918def1fffe47bcadb4fbd55bb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/35393">“We literally started from a drawing made on a restaurant’s table,” Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and Sales Director at CdM explains. “Gatto is the result of great teamwork, and the project kept on growing at a steady pace thanks to the commitment and experience of the owner’s representative, Richard Kaye, the fast responses given by Hydro Tec in terms of design, and the usual intense work of the whole CdM team. The result is simply unique: there is nothing similar on the market, 250 GT, fully custom, so over-engineered and built in Acciaio!”Powered by twin CAT C18 engines, Gatto has a maximum speed of 13 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots. The team at CdM is really up to its reputation: skilled, motivated and always aiming to the best for the yacht and her owner.”“We have been asked to create classic-contemporary interiors with a soft and relaxing feel throughout,” adds Francesco Guida who took an architectural approach to interiors. “We have created a unique look by designing linear furniture enriched with exquisite burnished metal details while combining natural oak with white lacquered surfaces and glossy ebony details, we gave character to the ambience. CdM launches the 32m Acciaio 105 superyacht Gatto

A recently signed new build project for Cantiere delle Marche will see the Italian shipyard deliver a 32 metre custom superyacht to a European client which was introduced to CdM by Arcon Yachts. The news comes after the shipyard announced the sale of another unit in their Darwin Class 102 line earlier this month.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/161285/image/large-8231c01ed27ac5fb80607060ea4747c1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/161285">The new project is said to be a new design by Hydro Tec – the company behind the proven Darwin Class series. The client’s interest in the world of explorer vessels and appreciation for technical aspects of of a yacht has been combined a new design with a more sensual and futuristic exterior than the existing models on offer by the yard. A challenging part of the project for the shipyard will be the introduction of a tender garage inside the yacht – an area which has up till now been dedicated to a large lazaretto and on board dive centre.More details about the project is expected over the coming weeks.
