Icon Yachts has invested in expanding its facilities to better accommodate the number of refit projects. The shipyard is currently building a new floating shed next to its maintenance hall, so it will be able to work on more projects, as well as larger projects.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/41185/image/large-c15649022b852d8708062ea5196f8969.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/41185">The new floating shed is set to offer an increased capacity of nearly 100%, measuring 130-metres long and 30 metres wide, with 28 metres of mast clearance, according to Icon Yachts. Construction on the floating shed already began earlier this month, and completion is expected by the end of this year. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/41028/image/large-e0c4de733879b50f15a9ebfa41233183.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/41028">The expansion push comes as Icon Yachts reports exceptionally strong growth, hiring 25 new employees over the past year alone. Icon Yachts to implement new floating docks for refits

Global and Alfa Nero in Monaco

The summer season in the Mediterranean is now in full swing and the waters outside Europe’s yachting hub is bustling with activity. Recently seen outside the Principality of Monaco are the two motor yachts Global and Alfa Nero, each having recently returned to warmer climates after completing respective refits in Germany.

Global has arrived in the Mediterranean Sea after a lengthy visit to Lürssen’s facilities in Germany where the yacht was extended from her original 68-metre length to 74 metres. Global’s aft decks were extended and now houses a larger helipad on the upper aft deck.

Lürssen’s motor yacht Kismet in Malta

Pictured here in the Grand Harbour of Malta is Lürssen’s motor yacht Kismet. Launched in 2014 by the German shipyard as project Global, she was eventually named Kismet after her owner’s previous yacht, another Lürssen, was sold in 2014 and renamed Global. Global was recently lengthened to her current 75 metres at Lürssen’s shipyard in Rendsburg. Kismet features a glistening golden exterior design by Espen Oeino International as well as an interior of the drawing boards of Reymond Langton Design. Not visible on this picture is the yacht’s characteristic striking jaguar figurehead on the bow.

Lürssen's 95m superyacht Kismet in Malta

Having arrived in Germany in December last year, the Lürssen superyacht Global that once measured 68 metres returned to her home shipyard where she would undergo an extensive refit. The past six months spent in Rendsburg saw Global have all her aft decks extended, with the vessel now measuring well over 70 metres. The project was managed by Hill Robinson. Previously characteristic design cues from her Espen Oeino exterior have been replaced, such as a new name sign plate on the upper deck.

Xtenders and Vripack have announced the delivery of the world’s first autoclave pre-preg carbon built Limousine Tender. Lürssen has launched the 94 metre superyacht Kismet II. The spectacular superyacht is the successor to the 223-foot Kismet, which was completed in 2007, which was recently renamed Global. Lürssen launches 94m superyacht Kismet II

Lürssen has completed the refit on 68.15 metre superyacht Global, formerly known as Kismet and launched in 2007. She left the shipyard at the end of June and is currently in the Mediterranean.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/149393/image/large-edccb1fa28d9ce0c6d7cbdc8822d9fd8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/149393">The refit included the repaint of the hull in a light grey colour. Tim Morley of Morley Yachts describes the project as, “a great credit to Lürssen’s refit team and the contractors who undertook the work.”Further changes included enhancements to her helicopter deck, which is now significantly larger and safer for regular helicopter operations. Moran Yacht & Ship list Lürssen’s superyacht Kismet for sale

German superyacht builder Lürssen Yachts has launched the completed hull of motor yacht Firebird from their facility in Rendsburg. Completed hull of Lürssen superyacht Firebird launched

The first major yacht show of the year, Boot Düsseldorf took place from the 19th until the 27th of January. Boot Düsseldorf is known throughout the industry as Europe's biggest watersports and active leisure event. Boot Düsseldorf 2008

<a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23">Lürssen</a> has earned its reputation world-wide for its high-class custom superyachts. Modern lines and a contemporary style are the features of this massive 70 metre yacht. Styled by Espen Oeino, this immaculately finished 68 m yacht has six decks, and an interior designed by Reymond Langton Design. <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/113">Kismet</a> is one of the very few yachts where a second look is necessary in order to recognize all specific details onboard. The overall design can best be described as masculine and it is the combination of contemporary and classical elements with an Art Deco influence that make this yacht unique. 2008 will be the busiest year for the shipyard. There are five yachts to be delivered, ranging in size from 60 to well over 150 m.
