When she was launched in 2020, the 36.3-metre superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7519" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Kokoro36.3m (119'1&quot;)Moonen Yachts2020">Kokoro</a> was the second yacht to be built on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen</a>’s Martinique platform and originally built as a speculation yacht project. Like her sister ship <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5604" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Brigadoon36.3m (119'1&quot;)Moonen Yachts2018">Brigadoon</a>, the motor yacht features naval architecture and hull design from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/241" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="René van der Velden Yacht Design (Company)">René van der Velden Design</a> and structural design and engineering from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Diana Yacht Design B.V. (Company)">Diana Yacht Design</a>, while her interior design comes from the boards of London-based architect <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4664" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Studio Indigo (Company)">Studio Indigo</a>. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197299/image/large-4398034efae2670f4c3a5cfbf4530f8a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197299">Here, SuperYacht Times gets an exclusive insight into the design motivations and inspirations behind the yacht, from each of her contributors.The design brief for the project provided her naval architects, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/241" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="René van der Velden Yacht Design (Company)">René van der Velden Design</a>, with some challenges. The requirements for the clients to travel quickly without the implementation of a planing or semi-displacement hull, combined with the request of lots of glass, a heavy construction material, posed obstacles which the designers cleverly overcame. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7519" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Kokoro36.3m (119'1&quot;)Moonen Yachts2020">Kokoro</a> was constructed in High Tensile Steel and her naval architects performed some weight saving calculations, reducing her overall weight by 15%. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7519" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Kokoro36.3m (119'1&quot;)Moonen Yachts2020">Kokoro</a> was designed for ocean crossings, with a range of 4,000 nautical miles.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/197297/image/large-390f6d7ef665a36cd970ed766eab066f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/197297"><a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7519" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Kokoro36.3m (119'1&quot;)Moonen Yachts2020">Kokoro</a>’s owner, who purchased the vessel while she was built under speculation, commented, “I have always wanted a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen</a>, but it was unclear when. Her main saloon features a large seating area and a formal dining space. She can accommodate as many as 10 + 2 guests across five staterooms, which have been finished in neutral tones and accented with blue tones. When closed, it is transformed into a cosy and private saloon. When open, the winter garden provides a continuous space, which is mostly covered to provide an outside feeling while being protected from the elements. The tri-deck superyacht was built for ambitious ocean crossings and self-sufficient world cruising, with a range of 4,000 nautical miles while cruising at 10 knots. She can accommodate as many as 10+2 guests across five staterooms.

First announced in January 2019, the second hull in <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen</a>'s Martinique line is on track for delivery during summer 2020 and is one of the first projects to come from <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/new-moonen-yachts-owner" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">Moonen under new ownership</a>. The speculation project currently for sale with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/159" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Burgess (Company)">Burgess</a> features an exterior design by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/241" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="René van der Velden Yacht Design (Company)">René van der Velden</a>, who also collaborated on the naval architecture along with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Diana Yacht Design B.V. <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/new-moonen-yacht-investor" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">Last month it was announced that Moonen Yachts was preparing for a new investor</a> after the company was declared bankrupt by a Dutch court when its shareholder was unable to meet financial obligations. This morning, news broke that the Dutch yacht builder is under new ownership. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/93462/image/large-0724cb95e61392eee2e8d05165d0b21f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/93462">The company has been bought by an Australian couple, Matthew and Louise Baxter. Mr Baxter is of Scottish origin and a successful entrepreneur who established the A M Group in 1972. The group is privately owned and operates manufacturing companies.Commenting on the purchase of the company Mr Baxter said: “It is a privilege to own a yard like&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen</a>. The brand has an impeccable pedigree, the yachts are true Dutch quality and the team is young, reliable, talented, and very loyal to the company. These characteristics are fundamental for success. I realise that the yard has to re-energise, but we are well prepared with a strong strategic plan and a strong balance sheet, I see a promising future ahead.”&nbsp;Johan Dubbelman, who has worked at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen Yachts</a> for more than 16 years, will remain as the CEO of the company. “We have trust in these new investors and have faith that they will establish a strong future for&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen Yachts</a>”,&nbsp;he said. “The 30 to 50-metre market is solid for well-built designs, and our plans are to increase production. Currently, we have one, award-winning, 36-metre Martinique in build, she’s 50% ready. Both projects will be new designs, but no further details have been announced about the designers involved.&nbsp;The majority of the workforce has been reappointed and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen Yachts</a> will continue to work with their long-term strategic partners and subcontractors.&nbsp;

Dutch shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen Yachts</a> has begun the construction of its latest superyacht, the 36.3-metre YN199.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/11870/image/large-b0d7445be0f1fa600931410164b1ba3f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/11870">YN199’s Project Manager, Nicky van Zon, attended the keel laying ceremony on 14th December last year and commented,&nbsp;“The&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen</a>&nbsp;team along with the Lloyds surveyors were all on site to celebrate this significant moment. We will combine the hull and superstructure in July at the&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/130" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonen Yachts (Company)">Moonen&nbsp;</a>shipyard in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, which is a moment I’m particularly looking forward to. It’s always a special moment to see the design coming to life.”<img src="/uploads/store/photo/61333/image/large-9cf041e960febefd7a36a92226fd60e7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61333">YN199 is the second yacht to be built on Moonen's the 36-metre Martinique platform following the <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/moonen-launches-36m-superyacht-martinique" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">launch</a> of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5604" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Brigadoon36.3m (119'1&quot;)Moonen Yachts2018">Brigadoon</a>&nbsp;last summer. She features exterior design by Dutch designer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/241" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="René van der Velden Yacht Design (Company)">René van der Velden</a> and naval architecture developed in cooperation between <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/241" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="René van der Velden Yacht Design (Company)">René van der Velden</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Diana Yacht Design B.V. (Company)">Diana Yacht Design.</a> Her interiors are from the drawing boards of London-based studio, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4664" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Studio Indigo (Company)">Studio Indigo</a> - who also designed the interiors for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5604" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Brigadoon36.3m (119'1&quot;)Moonen Yachts2018">Brigadoon</a>&nbsp;alongside <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/153" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nauta Yachts S.r.l. (Company)">Nauta Design</a>&nbsp; - and will be designed in a close collaboration between YN199's future owners and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4664" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Studio Indigo (Company)">Studio Indigo.&nbsp;</a><img src="/uploads/store/photo/61349/image/large-bba38cb231c2856c49ef62b9c2a6ac80.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61349"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/61347/image/large-46fcbe125ad5dc17a4ad8cfd111e6d82.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61347">Her interior design aims towards a timeless style, maximising the feeling of space and light on board and remains flexible, allowing prospective owners to customise the design to suit their personal tastes.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/61338/image/large-63bb14a2e67a97fa0d867813ffa3ee2a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61338">Particular consideration has also been given by her designers in order to maximise internal areas to enhance the sense of space and ease of movement on board, creating the effect of making N199 feel significantly larger than her 36-metres.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/61336/image/large-8f61765e8dd0a4b452bb917cffb17a68.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61336">On board, YN199 accommodates 12 guests across five staterooms as well as a crew of seven. The motor yacht is currently available for sale and is scheduled for delivery in early spring 2020. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <img src="/uploads/store/photo/11872/image/large-28070dc28169677072f6bbd112af7e26.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/11872">The yacht has been designed with performance, stability, high quality and low noise levels on board in mind. Performance-wise, she is powered by twin CAT C32 engines which provide her with a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14.5 knots, with a range of 4000 nm at a cruising speed of 10 knots.
