55m Amels superyacht La Familia in Saint Lucia

The 55m superyacht La Familia, built by Amels in 2015, was seen cruising here in Saint Lucia. 

The 30.48-metre sailing yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/200" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Wally Love 30.48m (100'0&quot;)Wally2007">Wally Love</a> has been refloated after it listed during a large thunderstorm in La Savina, Formentera. The storm passed through the Balearic Islands on Wednesday 14 August, causing damage to several yachts in the area.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/323311/image/large-68885bee32a5602f0c30e8eae813de1d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/323311">The DANA storm saw strong gusts of wind exceeding 53 knots, or 100-kilometres per hour, with local news companies reporting that around a dozen sailing boats had run aground in La Savina with at least one yacht allegedly undergoing a rescue operation after colliding with the rocks, while others were seen battling the waves at sea.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/323330/image/large-9a6b0c1bea92a8ded4cbf03bd1b58040.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/323330">Rescue missions underway According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin at least one yacht had undergone a rescue operation after colliding with the rocks. Eyewitness reports posted on social media stated that a crew member had been rescued by another vessel after drifting away from a boat in the water. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/999506444?share=copy" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> Videos obtained by SuperYacht Times show that the waves were crashing into boats on the water, making it difficult to manoeuvre vessels to safety. DANA storm causes damage to several yachts in La Savina, Formentera

A large thunderstorm, known as a DANA, has caused damage to several yachts at the port of La Savina in Formentera.

This is the story of two daring helicopter expeditions into the highlands and lowlands of the wild and wonderful south-west region of Papua, eastern Indonesia, which happened thanks to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2986" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="The Lighthouse Consultancy (Company)">The Lighthouse Consultancy</a>. The Indonesian-based company’s in-field experience and meticulous planning enabled us to sample what very few visitors to Indonesia have had the opportunity to experience; to meet with two infamous tribes with markedly different lifestyles on their home turf and to enjoy their customs, ceremonies and performances, and even their food.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/98100/image/large-3f0075edada1bbf8afa7b62a8b16f461.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98100">Our memorable 48 hours began on board the 55-metre Amels yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5728" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="La Familia55.0m (180'5&quot;)Amels2015">La Familia</a>, where together we had already covered the amazing western coastline, from Raja Ampat to the Fak Peninsular and Triton Bay before arriving (as the first superyacht to visit here) at the river port of Pomako which became our base for operations. We planned to visit two remote tribes, the Dani and the Asmat, who reside in two distinctly different regions of West Papua.The Dani are mountain farmers who occupy the fertile highlands of the Baliem Valley, an alpine basin over 2,000 metres above sea level bordered by mountain ranges and ridges that rise to over 4,000 metres. This Shangri-La was only discovered in 1938, sighted by an over-flying plane. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/98108/image/large-65163a756961863d8d4408fc3b41ab47.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98108">The Asmat on the other hand, are fishermen and hunter-gatherers residing in the muddy swamps, forests, river deltas and small islands along the Papuan coastline. These folks have long been infamous for their cannibalistic rituals and at one time were involved in the disappearance in 1961 of Michael Rockefeller, the son of Nelson Rockefeller, the Governor of New York at the time.After an overnight motor down from Triton Bay, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5728" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="La Familia55.0m (180'5&quot;)Amels2015">La Familia</a> is expertly navigated around the shallow sandbanks and through the narrow channel that leads into the Pomako river and coastal port of Amampare, just in time for our rendezvous with the two choppers, our air transport for the next two days. After dropping anchor into the muddy waters, we are soon in the air, flying across the low-lying jungle and rivers of south-west Papua where we are treated to spectacular views of the long snaking waterways and impenetrable forests of this remote region. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/98129/image/large-94e9ba9322b1077e56a673e54aad2452.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98129">Exploring the DaniOur first destination was the Baliem Valley and the Dani tribe way up in the highlands and before long, the waterways and jungle fade away and we started to climb up into the mountainous interior of this mysterious island and negotiate the high ridges of the Sudirman Range, of which Puncak Jaya, the highest peak at 4,884 metres in Australasia, can be found. Although we don’t have to fly that high, we still have to search for gaps at over 3,000 metres, while as we rose the scenery got even more spectacular. High rocky peaks and passes dominate the panorama and once over the ridge, the scenery got even better with dramatic waterfalls plunging into deep valleys dotted with pine forests and immense rock falls. As we start to descend, tracks and small settlements come into view and the landscape is so different from the lowlands - it has an alpine feel to it; a little like flying over the European Alps in the summertime.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/98130/image/large-b506f8a9ce6677a64df6604bb03503c9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98130">After this breath-taking flight of over 140 nautical miles, we land in the cool grasslands of the bucolic Baliem Valley to be greeted by members of the Dani Tribe. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2986" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="The Lighthouse Consultancy (Company)">The Lighthouse Consultancy</a> had been working on setting up this meeting for a while now, but it’s still a bit of a shock to be confronted by a large group of fierce-looking men who were naked, apart from their strangely shaped “koteka”, a covering made from dried-out gourd that barely managed to hide the most important part of their nether regions. They also sported boar tusk nose ornaments and a variety of bird feathers, most notably cassowary, body paint and other adornments. The topless, grass-skirted ladies of the tribe gathered in the trees a little further away by a wooden bridge over a narrow stream, waiting to greet us before taking us to their homesteads.Firstly, we are treated to a demonstration by the men on how to construct a look-out tower from the trunk of a tree. This involved digging a deep hole and inserting the wood, raising the totem into a vertical position and then, after securing the structure, winding vines around the trunk to form footholds to enable the look-out to climb to the top and check for any approaching enemies. Fortunately, we didn’t see any.After this feat of rustic engineering, we are taken along the stream to one of the compounds in the village where a feast was being prepared and attractions such as traditional dancing and singing were in full swing. During these festivities, many gifts are exchanged, one of which is the presentation of a lethal-looking bow and arrow set from the Dani while we reciprocated with medical supplies. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/98131/image/large-9e6fe3e401c0ae03234be14cb7b31f5f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98131">The preparation of the main course is not for the squeamish. A small boar is selected and held up by its ears and the back legs by two tribesmen, while another takes the archery set and expertly shoots the poor animal straight through the heart. Fortunately, this is a quick albeit rather undignified end for the main course.While all this is going on, a huge rectangular fire was being built from of dry wood and straw covered with rocks and large stones. The idea is not to cook the food directly on the fire but to superheat the stones and use their latent energy to slowly broil the ingredients in a leaf-filled earth oven, known as a “mumu”. An ignition source is produced remarkably quickly by placing some tinder on the ground and pulling a tough vine vigorously back and forth around a small piece of wood, something I was never able to do in the Boy Scouts. This produces enough heat to ignite the tinder which is then introduced to the bonfire and a good old smoky time is had by all.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/98128/image/large-5f8f7b72cab6648aab961b0256ec1abe.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98128">After several courses of soup, roast pork and vegetables, it's time to make our long way home back to the yacht. Our Australian pilots are getting a little anxious about getting back over the mountain range before the weather closes us in. We say our fond farewells and climb aboard the helicopter for the exciting flight up and over the mountains that have hidden the Baliem Valley for centuries, to return tired and smelling very smoky to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5728" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="La Familia55.0m (180'5&quot;)Amels2015">La Familia</a>, to get ready for the next days’ adventures.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/98132/image/large-a254cff494e6651221c36e1a9a5f3cfa.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98132">Visiting the AsmatAfter a good nights’ rest, we are off again on another “same-same but different” encounter with the infamous Asmat Tribe. We headed 112 nautical miles south-east along the Papuan coastline down to the Agats area and the village of Omandesep. The flight over the alluvial plains, muddy river deltas, impenetrable mangrove forest and sprawling swamps is no less mind-blowing than the day before, except this time we don’t have to deal with any high elevations, which makes things a little easier.As we make our descent into Omandesep we make out two custom-made wooden landing pads for our flying machines. Although some of the more adventurous dive boats have visited the area, our expedition is the first to use helicopters and a landing would be a tricky business if not for the help and planning of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2986" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="The Lighthouse Consultancy (Company)">The Lighthouse Consultancy</a> and the sturdy constructions made by the villagers. We touch down and are immediately greeted by the fearsome-looking Asmat elders dressed in their finery. All is going amicably well when suddenly hordes of wildly painted and seemingly aggressive tribesmen come rushing from the bushes throwing spears and making one hell of a noise, their frantic and alarming wild gestures making us think that we have made a very bad decision! Fortunately, it is just part of the show, although some warning would have been nice.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/98134/image/large-d1abaadd6405d162a25d5c44178e43b6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98134">The Asmat have a reputation for being a little confrontational and their inter-village squabbles and arguments have caused stories about the tribe killing and eating their enemies in revenge for unknown misgivings. On this occasion, we are thankfully greeted as friends, not enemies, and the squad carry on their thrilling introduction by surrounding the helicopters, chanting and dancing in the mud.&nbsp;Like the Dani tribe, the Asmat are dressed in their colourful tribal finery and although they keep their crown jewels under their grass skirts, they appear to wear more body paint with many decorated in elaborate and scary designs. Others wear strange masks that resemble crabs, crocodiles and other river creatures; certainly not the sort of people you want to meet in the dark!<img src="/uploads/store/photo/98136/image/large-62e5c58ddf150333a76b42e27e643325.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98136">After these wild introduction ceremonies, we are taken off, with a great deal of hooting and hollering, along an elevated wooden walkway to a dock to board some large canoes for what we think is going to be a quiet cruise down a very muddy crocodile-infested waterway. Suddenly from one of the many tributaries that drain into the river around 50 warlike warriors come racing out, fully armed, in their dugout canoes. Exhibiting sublime balancing skills each of these fast and very mobile canoes is manned by up to six men, standing up while rowing, bristling with weapons and once again making a huge hullabaloo.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/98135/image/large-ab20176aac92fbf91e8b5c0dc159ca43.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98135">As the shock of this second attack subsides, we are all captured and taken back to the village dock, for who knows what, but we do imagine a big cooking pot hanging over a raging fire. Happily, this is not the case, and instead we enjoy some good-natured mudslinging and a playful beating with some soggy bamboo by some of the tribeswomen, all in the name of good relations.The next event is a visit to the chief’s long-house for a formal reception and an exchange of gifts. This is only a short walk from the dock and we all pack into the very smoky and low-ceilinged elevated construction to hear several speeches before being treated to a spirit dance. This strange ceremonial knees-up involves some bizarre costumes worn by the participants, consisting of a woven cone-shaped headpiece finished lower down with grass skirting. There is no way to see out of this ensemble and the wearers are led around on twine leads while dancing in a wild and bizarre spinning motion.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/98133/image/large-fa3c2bff5749ec063e557a3102bc7763.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/98133">As our escapade comes to an end, we are allowed to look at and buy some items of Asmat art and craft that have become fashionable among artefact collectors in recent years. Compared to the market average of 23% this is much less due to the bigger average size of yachts available. The total combined length of these yachts is 656-metres with an average length of 54.7-metres and an average volume of 834.2 GT.The average price of a used <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/amels/for-sale" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">Amels yacht for sale</a> is currently €29.2 million. When looking at the asking price per GT, the average price is €35,000 per GT. The role of a cruising guide in Indonesia is varied and requires a great deal of flexibility. With over 17,000 islands stretching across an area the size of the continental USA, Indonesia could be considered a daunting destination, however, breaking down the country, there are a number of smaller cruising grounds filled with a variety of hidden gems. Although knowing where beautiful anchorages are located is a key part of a guide’s responsibility, it’s far from the only part of a guide’s duties.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/31294/image/large-ea711e1c46b11d22cda9bde54e4c659f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/31294">The 55-metre&nbsp;La Familia&nbsp;in Komodo&nbsp;Months in advance of a yacht's arrival into the country, the Lighthouse team begins to create the perfect itinerary, tailored to the yacht owner's needs. Factors such as seasons and weather patterns play a large part in the creation of an adventure to visit the best destinations at the ideal time, this will maximise the owner's enjoyment in the region. Of course, it's not only the weather that plays a role in trip planning - the needs and goals of the guests are the overriding focus when it comes to deciding on locations.Some guests prefer to focus on marine activities, others on seclusion and privacy, some owners want to climb volcanoes and others might bring a support yacht to maximise opportunities to spend exciting days in Indonesia’s prime fishing grounds. Although scuba diving is often one of the top activities for clients in Indonesia, not every visitor is a scuba diver. Knowing the best dive sites in a location is certainly a benefit, but having an in-depth knowledge of all regional attractions is a fundamental necessity.&nbsp;Plans on board change regularly so anticipating the needs of an owner is of utmost importance. The key requirement to ensure the guide is of benefit to the yacht is working with the captain to create a handful of different activity options each day. Snorkelling on a hidden reef, visiting a local weaving village trekking through rainforests, kayaking around beautiful karst islands, wakeboarding, or spending a lazy day on a secluded beach are a few of the many options during a superyacht cruising experience in Indonesia.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/31418/image/large-441bb6325c20135150951c948d9261f3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/31418">The 67.75-metre Archimedes in Raja Ampat&nbsp; On a daily basis, the role of the guide is to provide a list of interesting activities to the captain, who in turn relays these possibilities to the owner: this is where having a truly experienced guide is important. &nbsp;Having a backup list of activities available in a certain location is key, in case the initial planned activity isn't feasible.&nbsp;Although many other activities are available, diving is often the biggest attraction for many visitors. The world famous marine parks of Raja Ampat and Komodo are just the tips of the iceberg of Indonesian diving. It’s important to have a guide who is experienced in diving many different areas, as the conditions can be tricky. Many of the best dives in the country are current dependent and should not be attempted without a guide familiar with the sites. A guide who has only dived in Komodo or Bali would not be the best option in Raja Ampat for example.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/31291/image/large-08988a354993b35c999859e7b24692d0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/31291">&nbsp;The 62.5-metre Party Girl in Raja Ampat&nbsp;One element Lighthouse insists upon is that the role of their guides on board a yacht is not only to advise on anchorages and lead excursions, they also need to fit in and work as part of the crew. If no guide activities are required, early mornings should be spent washing and detailing decks alongside the other deck crew. Guides are not rock stars, they are an integral part of the yacht team and can benefit the vessel's experience by easing the workload of other departments when things aren't busy for their guiding role.&nbsp;Finally, part of the charm of cruising in Indonesia is anchoring in front of a remote village whose inhabitants have never seen a superyacht before. In parts of West Papua, for example, the village ‘property’ extends several miles into the ocean and so a visiting vessel is essentially anchoring on the village’s back yard. As such a calm and friendly guide must visit the village elders to explain the purpose of the visit, perhaps offering gifts such as school books, footballs or rice and fuel to the village. An experienced guide also knows which villages have a specific villager that can coordinate an interesting cultural experience – trekking for bird of paradise for example.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/31416/image/large-0563df0a4008f904db7dcb51472b878d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/31416">The 55-metre Abbracci&nbsp;(ex: Serenity) in Komodo&nbsp;Of course, for a location guide in Indonesia, having a good understanding of the Indonesian language is also a requirement. In the local ports of embarkation, there is always paperwork that needs inspection and communication with Indonesian speaking officials can be challenging without a grasp of the local language. Discovering cruising in Indonesia with the Lighthouse Consultancy

It is a rare sight spotting two yachts built by the same shipyard side-by-side out in the wild, not to mention witnessing two yachts of the same build cruising alongside out in open ocean. This was the case as the two Amels Limited Editions 180 superyachts Gene Machine and La Familia intercepted each other as they made their way back to the Netherlands to reach Amels’ shipyard in Vlissingen.

Both yachts have spent a busy summer’s cruising season in the Mediterranean, with La Familia having arrived in European waters after spending some time cruising the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

Measuring 72 metres, Azteca is one of the largest vessels to be completed by the Italian CRN shipyard to date, and features both interior and exterior design from Nuvolari &amp; Lenard. La Familia was completed by Amels last year, and measures 55 metres in length. Featuring exterior design by Tim Heywood Design and a luxurious interior from Lambert &amp; Thurnherr Interiors, she is part of the Amels Limited Editions range.

Superyachts Azteca and La Familia in St. Tropez

Another successful edition of the Singapore Yacht Show concluded on Sunday 10 April after four days of glorious weather and successful business developments amongst key players in the yachting industry from Asia and beyond. Since its inception in 2011, the show is today regarded as the main yachting attraction in Asia, with clients and exhibitors hailing from every corner of the greater region.

Five superyachts including the 56 metre Benetti Lady Candy, Amel’s 55 metre La Familia, the 50 metre Sensation, Royal Denship’s 43.5 metre Triple 8 and a 34 metre by Moonen, Azul A made up the top end of the vessels on display. A stunning premier by Sunreef was on show as they unveiled their Supreme 68 catamran for the first time. Princess Yachts were also present with a fleet of 11 yachts in the water, along with Gulf Craft representing the Gulf region.

Andy Treadwell comments on the suitability of Singapore as a yachting event host: “Singapore is the principal international business hub of Asia – easily accessible, and a place where buyers can take in the Show and conduct some non-boating business at the same time. This makes it regionally attractive.” According to Treadwell, visitors can look forward to another successful edition in 2017. “We are working with great partners in the shape of our host venue ONE˚15 Marina Club, Sentosa Cove, and we have every confidence that 2017 will, indeed, be even better than 2016.”

			Amongst the long list of exhibitors this year is the Dutch shipyard Amels, who made their Singapore debut in 2015. Amels will be displaying the 55 metre La Familia, which will be the second largest yacht at the show following the 56 metre Benetti Lady Candy. In addition to La Familia, Amels will also be showing the Damen Yacht Support range of vessels and the Damen SeaXplorer range of expedition yachts.

			Fraser Yachts will be displaying three superyachts currently offered for sale: the 49.9 metre Sensation, the 43.4 metre Triple 8, and the 34 metre Azul A. Fraser Yachts’ Global Marketing Manager, Lisa Peck, had this to say about the brokerage house’s fleet in Singapore: “We are delighted to be able to confirm three significant yachts at the Show this year. Ranging from 34-50 metre from a variety of builders, it is a perfect way to showcase the full range of yachts available to this new and developing market.”

				​Simpson Marine will be back for the sixth time this year, establishing a presence every year in Singapore since the inaugural show in 2011. This year the brand will showcase the Sanlorenzo 104 for its Asian premiere, two Monte Carlo Yachts (MCY86 and MCY65) plus a Monte Carlo 4, three Lagoon Catamarans (Lagoon 630 Motor Yacht, 560 Imagine and 450 SporTop), and a Beneteau Oceanis 38.

			In addition to the wealth of superyachts on display at the show, the event will also host a variety of luxury related activities, highlights of which will include a private cooking masterclass from MasterChef Asia judge Audra Morrice, a Supercar Rendezvous, as well as the Asia Boating Awards on the first night of the show. Various high-end fashion shows will also take place in addition to an on-water demonstration platform where visitors will be able to test various superyacht toys and tenders.

Singapore Yacht Show kicks off tomorrow

With two weeks to go until the 2016 edition of the Singapore Yacht Show (SYS) kicks off, here we take a look at some of the largest superyachts heading to this year’s event.

The largest vessel at the show will be the 56 metre Lady Candy, built by Benetti in 2013. Benetti Asia will also be presenting two new models at SYS 2016; the Delfino 95’ and the Mediterraneo 116’, the newest model in the yard’s Displacement Class range. The 30.5 metre yacht marks a new direction in exterior layout and design for Benetti while still carrying forward the family styling.

Closely following Lady Candy in terms of size, Dutch shipyard Amels will also be presenting the 55 metre La Familia. Launched just over a year ago in February 2015, this Amels Limited Editions 180 features exterior design by Tim Heywood Design, with interior design from Lambert &amp; Thurnherr.

Built by New Zealand shipyard Sensation Yachts in 2007, the all-aluminium vessel Sensation will also be attending the show. Measuring 49.9 metres, she is designed in her entirety by Sensation Yachts’ in-house team, and underwent an extensive four month refit in Langkawi in 2013. Sensation will be represented by Fraser Yachts.

The 43.4 metre Triple 8 is another of the largest yachts scheduled to be presented in Singapore. Built by the Danish shipyard Royal Denship in 2008, she is designed by Diana Yacht Design and features an interior by Michela Reverberi.

The 34 metre Azul A will be represented by Azul Marine at the Show. Custom built by the Dutch shipyard Moonen in 1997, she was completely refitted in 2010 and is designed by Newcruise. 
	 
	The Sanlorenzo 104 will also make her Asian premiere at the upcoming event. Measuring 31.7 metres, she features exterior design from the renowned Francesco Paszkowski, whilst her interior design was undertaken by Dordoni Architetti. She is being represented by Simpson Marine, who will also be showcasing the Monte Carlo Yachts 86 in what will be her first appearance at the show.

Superyachts at the Singapore Yacht Show 2016

“The Maldives has seen a steady increase in visiting superyachts over the past few years,” according to Maldives Yacht Support Director Abdulla Waheed. The idyllic group of islands situated in the Indian Ocean is currently hosting a large number of high profile private and charter yachts enjoying Caribbean-like weather in a unique environment.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157860/image/large-367404b1109982e988cc60b7e74e5319.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157860">According to Waheed, it is the destination’s endless watersports and diving possibilities along with high end luxury facilities on land that attract superyachts to the islands each year. The central and northern atolls seem to be the most popular gathering spot for these visiting yachts, but according to Waheed, the cruising possibilities around the islands are infinite.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157861/image/large-92c1fed13b36494e40a3d9d690c7a401.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157861">The lack of a dedicated superyacht marina means that superyachts are forced to spend their time at anchor here, however, such facility developments are being investigated but would require the financial assistance of a backing partner.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157862/image/large-2f364ac4cf3a441a876216060426c1f0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157862">According to Waheed, the Maldives are becoming a popular destination for yachts having completed a summer season in the Med that are looking to enjoy fair weather and an alternative to crossing the Atlantic. From here some yachts venture to Thailand before stopping in the Maldives again ahead of the voyage back to the Mediterranean for another summer season’s cruising. Just some of the yachts having visited the Maldives this past season include Octopus, Savannah, Event, La Familia, Titania and Roma. Maldives in Pictures: an increasingly popular superyacht destination

Pictured here in Genova Marina Aeroporto earlier this month is the brand new 55 metre superyacht La Familia, which was launched from Amel’s facilities in Vlissingen, the Netherlands in February this year. This Amels Limited Editions 180 features exterior design by Tim Heywood Design, whilst Lambert &amp; Thurnherr undertook her interior design. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/154464/image/large-e3b4e891c7acd16bea964ae8a1ff2e4c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/154464">Amongst her notable characteristics is an impressive 115 sqm sundeck housing a large jacuzzi, plenty of sunloungers and a shaded al fresco dining area to enjoy the very best of life on board. She also features a touch and go helipad, a large swimming platform with a beach club and steam room, and side-opening balconies. Constructed with a steel hull painted in dark blue and aluminium superstructure, she has a Gross Tonnage of 767 as is Lloyd’s Registered. She accommodates up to 12 guests on board as well as a dedicated crew of 13. On board she accommodates up to twelve guests as well as a crew of 13, and she features an interior by Lambert &amp; Thurnerr. La Familia in Puerto Banús

The Dutch shipbuilders Amels has revealed images of the latest project to be completed at their facilities in Vlissingen. The 55 metre Amels Limited Editions 180 features designs by Tim Heywood, and dark blue paintwork. She was launched last week, where the 570 tonne vessel was moved from one of the Amels fully climate-controlled halls onto a floating pontoon and then to a floating drydock.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152726/image/large-bb48f393e391bd3d0b85573c705881cf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152726">The launch comes exactly on schedule. Amels commented on the event on their Facebook page, stating, “The successful launch proves once again how smoothly the Amels Limited Editions concept works - higher quality, lower technical risk and faster delivery!
