The 50m superyacht Belongers anchored off Villefranche

French shipyard Couach Yachts has handed over the recently completed 4400 Fast Fly superyacht to her owner, who is a repeat client of the shipyard. Part of the Chantier Naval Couach brand, the vessel measures 44.8 metres and is built as a smaller sistership to Couach’s 49.5-metre superyachts La Pellegrina and Belongers.

The in-house work completed by the shipyard, from design, engineering and construction, is summed up by Project Coordinator, Jean Yves Corvisier: “I believe that the 4400 FLY is the apotheosis of what we are able to accomplish at Couach. From a design and decoration point of view, as much as from an innovation and technology point of view, an enormous amount has been achieved.”

Fitted with zero-speed stabilisers, the yacht cruises at 17 knots and can reach a top speed of 24 knots. Her composite hull is constructed using a mix of fibreglass, carbon fibre, Aramat, and Kevlar to ensure a rigid and strong yet lightweight platform.

French shipyard Couach Yachts - part of the Chantier Naval Couach brand - has announced that the latest superyacht has been launched in Arcachon. The 4400 Fast Fly vessel has been built for a repeat client of the yard, and measures 44.8 metres.

The 4400 Fast Fly is a slightly smaller sistership to the 49.5 metre superyachts La Pellegrina, delivered in 2012, as well as Belongers, delivered in 2014. As with the aforementioned, the latest Couach superyacht is fully customised, with particular attention paid to the interior details. Couach comment: “The yacht’s interior features a combination of exceptional materials including bronze, oak, treated leathers, engraved glass, engraved marble, Dacryl with copper inlay, and metallic resin. Many decorative elements were created specifically for the yacht, hand in hand with the client and the captain. The completion of the 4400 Fast Fly cements Couach Yachts’ position as the foremost French superyacht builder,” they continue, “in a country renowned for its proud maritime history.”

Couach Yachts launches 44m superyacht 4400 Fast Fly

Merle Wood &amp; Associates has announced the sale of the 50 metre superyacht La Pellegrina – a central agency which they shared with SSH Maritime. Interglobal Yachts represented the buyer in the deal which was last reported on offer for €21,900,000.

La Pellegrina was delivered by Couach Shipyard in 2012 as the first 50 metre 5000 Fly Couach. Fully built in Kevlar Carbon and developed on a military patrol hull design by Cano Lanza Yacht Design, the yacht features an impressive performance among which is a top speed of 28 knots together with a transatlantic range. In 2014, Couach delivered a sistership to La Pellegrina, named Belongers.

U.S. based Derecktor shipyard has released an update on the latest refits and repairs going on at their Florida and New York based facilities, including the latest developments on Mirage, Minderella, Gallant Lady and Twilight.<strong style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; background-image: none; color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; text-align: -webkit-center;"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153843/image/large-d6bc9275faa0578ae816a592baba2d29.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153843">In Florida, long term refit projects that carried over from 2014 include the 40.25 metre Mirage built by Heesen which is undergoing significant structural modifications, a re-power and complete systems upgrade, as well as the 58.82 metre Minderella. Built by Feadship in 1986, she is undergoing rehabilitation, systems upgrades and an upcoming full paint job.The 52.42 metre Feadship superyacht Gallant Lady has been at Derecktor since September 2014, undergoing the replacement of her teak decks and a full repaint by Tung Luu Marine. Being worked on at the Florida facility, a significant work scope of upgrades and system maintenance has also been performed in conjunction with the vessel's engineers and specialist subcontractors. Commenting on the project, Derecktor say, “Derecktor's relationship with Gallant Lady's management team dates back to the mid-1980s with the delivery of their first four Feadships and continued until their new vessels outgrew the yard's lifting capacity. Our new Cimolai lift has resolved the capacity problem and we look forward to being able to service the Gallant Lady fleet well into the future.”<strong style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; background-image: none; color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; text-align: -webkit-center;"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153844/image/large-89c6573f59643d7dcdb32375a554caab.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153844">Another major project being undertaken at the Derecktor Florida facility is the 34.8 metre Burger superyacht Twilight, which was returned to Derecktor in early March to be re-powered. Built in 1985, this vessel originally came to Derecktor in the mid-1990s as Silver Cloud. She has been lengthened and several refit periods over the years have seen her systems constantly upgraded. Most recently the vessel was in the yard for the addition of Quantum zero-speed stabilisers and hull paint.The scope of work for the current yard period includes the removal of her original 12V92 Detroit Diesels and ZF transmissions through a hole in the starboard side, structural modifications to the engine foundations, and the installation of new Caterpillar C-32 Tier 2 main engines and ZF 350 gears. While the majority of the work will be in the machinery space, other projects include the replacement of the stern tubes. Two years after the introduction of the first 5000 Fly, superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/735" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="La Pellegrina49.5m (162'5&quot;)">La Pellegrina</a>, yacht builder Couach launched the second hull in this 50-metre series, called <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2788" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Belongers49.5m (162'5&quot;)">Belongers</a>.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/147523/image/large-dea4b95389b3c2cc61efa166cc466b09.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/147523">The owner had a fundamental role in the design of his unique 50-metre yacht. In this particular case, the owner requested an extension to the upper deck, to accommodate a table for 14 guests, and he also created a private area of 100 square metres on the sundeck. The engineers at Couach completely redesigned these areas, however, the changes did not affect any system, the balance or the yacht's performance.Amongst several technological updates, probably the most remarkable one is the significant reduction of noise and vibration levels. This is the result of advanced acoustic studies and a complete change in mounting methods.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2788" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Belongers49.5m (162'5&quot;)">Belongers</a> is equipped with twin 5.226 hp MTU engines, providing a maximum speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots. Her equipment meets IMO standards and this, coupled with her range, would allow for transatlantic capabilities crossing at a speed of 12 knots.

With a name that translates to “the pilgrim”, one might expect superyacht La Pellegrina to be a classic vessel with a traditional take on design and style. However, that couldn't be further from the truth with this grand Couach vessel, that was launched in 2012. Admittedly, she does have a traditional touch with regards to her personality, but that is mainly due to the wonderful hospitable ambiance than with the design scheme. And whenever friendliness, top quality and cutting edge design instantly catch the eye upon first inspection, having a closer look is definitely a treat. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/143245/image/large-18ebc12f45092b1cd3c1d897dad1b105.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/143245">Such is definitely the case with La Pellegrina, a brand new 50 metre superyacht that, first and foremost, boasts a personality that is soft and gentle at first glance but shows plenty of feistiness when one really tries to feel her vibe.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/143246/image/large-ac0e8c6f2de18b51a11e8f82112c2e74.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/143246">First off, she boasts some impressive stats to show off an aim for top performance. Due to the lightweight material applied in hull and superstructure, with carbon reinforcements, La Pellegrina offers top speeds at minimal fuel consumption, offering a minimal consumption of 180L/h at 12 knots. This specific material also makes her an exceptionally strong vessel, more shock resistant than traditional polyester and aluminium. Soft white sofas and armchairs in the lounge, dining chairs with white upholstery and stainless steel, a gentle, almost soft-pink hue of the leather flooring and lush lacquered sycamore applied in ceilings and wall paneling, all combines to a pleasant mix of strict modern shapes bathing in gentle lightness. Outside, a wonderful aft deck with big al fresco dining table and a lounging sofa aft invite guests to sit back and enjoy the views, a great setting for ample high quality meals. Interiors have an oriental feel, emphasised by the artwork in the main lobby. Superyacht La Pellegrina ready for launching at Couach

Amartech BV Holland has recently completed the onsite installation of a twin propeller and rudder solution aboard the superyacht FLY 5000 built by Chantier Navale Couach, France. Couach sells the first 5000 FLY superyacht

French superyacht builder Chantier Naval Couach has teamed up with Cannes based yacht designer Jean Pierre Fantini for the interior design of the first Couach 5000 Fly. JP Fantini to design interior for first Couach 5000 superyacht

Couach celebrated a great success on July 15th, with the completion of the first 50-meter hull. The French brand now takes its first steps in the Mega-Yachting market. The next stage is the installation of all technical equipment before the hull and deck assembly scheduled in October. Another major step in the construction of the Couach 5000 Fly Mega-Yacht. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/125605/image/large-9cdc7b028ebbd44a9d68f79ea6f5b4ee.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/125605">The construction of this two-third infusion hull is a first in Europe for a yacht of this size. In 1970 Couach already built the first yacht in Aramat, a fibre glass/Kevlar complex, in collaboration with Du Pont de Nemours. Today, Couach comes back into the spotlight with this infusion technology, that the builder has been mastering for many years now.For the realization of this 5000 Fly the shipyard has designed a new deep V-shaped hull and a new transom which will enable her to easily attain 30 knots. Hull tests made it possible to optimize the power necessary to reach the various stages and to minimize consumption. The hull tests revealed a range of 4200 miles at 12 knots, with consumption at 170 litres per hour. The yacht will be equipped with a doubled stabilization system for speeds of 0 to 16 knots, and a special system to ensure the stability and comfort aboard the vessel at a cruising speed of 25 knots.A 4000m2, 18m high building was specially erected to accommodate the hull and the assembly for the 5000. The mold for the 5000 has been readjusted in preparation of the second 5000, whith a delivery scheduled for 2010.

Birth of the first Couach megayacht
