Dutch production and engineering firm <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a> began life building steel hulls in 1960. Since then it has delivered stainless steel and glass installations – encompassing railings, balustrades, telescopic awnings, staircases and pool glass – to approximately 200 superyachts. Specialising in vessels between 80-120 metres, projects include <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nobiskrug (Company)">Nobiskrug</a>’s <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6282" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Artefact80.0m (262'6&quot;)Nobiskrug2020">Artefact</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine</a>’s <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4814" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonstone79.2m (259'10&quot;)Delta Marine2016">Moonstone</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a>’s <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/270" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Octopus126.2m (414'1&quot;)Lürssen Yachts2003">Octopus</a>, and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/64" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Oceanco (Company)">Oceanco’</a>s sailing yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4795" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Black Pearl106.7m (350'1&quot;)Oceanco2018">Black Pearl</a>. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/377475/image/large-d329e3f87404d1d36cfe57ccaf83e267.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/377475"> The blueprint for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a>' approach today was formed in the 1970s: instead of positioning and welding bollards on yachts, the process was standardised and the bollards were bolted onto a yard-supplied double plate. This was the starting point for pre-producing components and improving efficiency. Finding modern, technical solutions to the issues that occur on board is where <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a> finds its raison d'être.“Machine-building employs methods which are far ahead of yacht building, which is still very traditional,” says Mike Gisling, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a> Sales Manager. “We integrate these into our products and processes to boost quality and efficiency. Yacht building is old-fashioned, so we use this to our competitive advantage.”&nbsp;Twenty years ago, when the industry was still measuring by hand – using pencils and cardboard templates placed on top of bulwarks – <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a> introduced digital measuring with laser scanners placed on tripods: a far more precise technique which is now widespread. &nbsp;These highly accurate measurements can then be inputted into 3D programs from any global location, ready for production. This technique was put into practice when the captain of the 62-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/64" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Oceanco (Company)">Oceanco</a> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4795" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Black Pearl106.7m (350'1&quot;)Oceanco2018">Queen Mavia</a> asked <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a> for a new sundeck windshield that was the same as its sistership, 63-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/205" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lucky Lady62.6m (205'5&quot;)Oceanco2002">Lucky Lady</a>, by removing the toprail that obscured the horizon. Measurements for the windshield were taken in Asia, and it was installed just three months later on the other side of the world during the Cannes Film Festival. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/377476/image/large-6d74955abc9de86f4a1b7a99c5872e76.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/377476">Despite being commonplace at the time, when <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a> presented a 3D printed section of a railing from 76-metre Anastasia to a northern European shipyard 10 years ago, it was met with amazement. “Wow, this is magic, was the reaction,” recalls Gisling. “As a rough estimate, harnessing technological advancements such as these can save clients 30% in delivery time and 20 percent in overall production costs.”&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a> brought glass production in-house in 2017 in response to the poor quality of glass provided by its external suppliers. Consistently falling below durability and strength standards, this had been causing project delays – a frustrating obstacle, particularly for the shorter timelines required by its numerous refit projects. A portion of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a>’ 9,000-square-metre Den Bosch facility is dedicated to a CNC glass centre and glass cutter for producing chemically toughened, laminated glass that complies with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's Register (Company)">Lloyd's Register</a> and other class society standards.“Producing both the glass and stainless steel ourselves is unique,” says Gisling. “Even when working with shipyards such as <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/54" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Heesen Yachts (Company)">Heesen</a>, which is only a 30-minute drive away, this is a major driver of efficiency and enables us to control delivery times. If we produce a railing for them, we can measure the yacht wherever it is in the world and then build the whole product in our workshop, knowing that everything fits and meets our standards. We are not going to bend or weld anything at the yard – working on board always takes triple the time.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/377474/image/large-0b8d2214632a289c9c046c3d16e31dc7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/377474">Beginning with glass windshields as early as 2009, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a> has also been tasked with creating all-glass railings in response to changing design preferences. “The trend is for owners seeking greater contact with the sea and their surroundings by having more glass in the general structure of their yachts, and the same principle applies to railings,” says Gisling. The extensive refit of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/18" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Amels (Company)">Amels</a> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5732" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Here Comes The Sun89.0m (291'12&quot;)Amels2016">Here Comes the Sun</a> in 2021, in which <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. (Company)">Beekmans</a>’ team installed an all-glass railing on the aft deck, is one such example.&nbsp;Notably, there is a balance to be struck between pleasing aesthetics and feelings of safety for those on board. The 90-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/64" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Oceanco (Company)">Oceanco</a> motor yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5962" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Luna90.13m (295'8&quot;)Oceanco2018">Dar</a> features fully glass bulwarks with a profile on top.&nbsp;“I would always advise to put something on top of your glass balustrade, whether it be stainless steel or teak”, comments Gisling. “It can be very subtle, but if guests can only see glass, they might be scared that the railings won’t work, so this provides a sense of psychological security.”Looking to the future, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/334" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Beekmans B.V. After her recent extensive six-month refit in 2022, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/205" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lucky Lady62.6m (205'5&quot;)Oceanco2002">Lucky Lady</a> features a luxurious owner's suite that encompasses an entire deck, complete with an office and a skylounge offering panoramic views. Accommodating up to 10 guests, her outdoor amenities include two dining areas, ample lounging space, a standout 7,000-litre Jacuzzi, and a unique pool with a two-level waterfall on the sundeck. Equipped with twin <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1408" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Caterpillar Inc (Company)">Caterpillar</a> 3512B DITA engines, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/205" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lucky Lady62.6m (205'5&quot;)Oceanco2002">Lucky Lady</a> can reach a top speed of 15 knots and comfortably cruises at 12 knots.

The Dutch shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/64" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Oceanco (Company)">Oceanco</a> has been going from strength to strength over the course of the last decade, and over the last year the shipyard has been dominating the headlines with launches of some of the largest Dutch yachts ever to touch the water. From humble beginnings as a small family joinery business founded in 1950, the Austrian General Contractor has continued to expand and have made their way into the superyacht industry. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5122" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="List General Contractor GmbH (Company)">List General Contractor (List GC)</a> has remained a family business and is now in the hands of the third generation of the List family. With the majority of their furnishings made using wood, they can be coated with veneers, high gloss lacquer, fabric, leather or gold leaf. Precious materials such as gold, marble, mother of pearl or finishes such as marquetry can be used to accentuate special accents on furniture creations. In a recent sale that was listed by Merle Woods &amp; Associates, the 62.6-metre superyacht Lady Lola has been sold with broker Bob McKeage of SuperYachts International having introduced the buyer. Lady Lola was listed for sale at $39,750,000.

New owners for the 62m Oceanco Lady Lola

International Yacht Collection has announced that the 62.5 metre Lady Lola has joined the IYC charter fleet. She will be available for charter in the Mediterranean as of 1 July 2012. Her international crew of 15 is lead by Captain Gui Garcia, his wife Christina Jones, formerly of Tuscan Sun, is the chef. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/138330/image/large-b00a94922b4dd6e22bf88093980ef562.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/134705">The stunning Zuretti interior makes luxurious use of her 10.5 metre beam, including private access to the owner’s deck, encompassing 325 square metres. Here, the owner’s king stateroom suite features a 270-degree panorama through huge windows, His and Hers ensuite with steam shower and Jacuzzi respectively, a private forward terrace, owner’s lounge, owner’s study and owner’s aft deck. For guests, Lady Lola features three queen staterooms and a twin on the lower deck. On the main deck, the salon showcases a custom Steinway grand piano, a service bar and game table. The dining salon features seating for 12. The raised bridge is forward with observation seating; her main aft deck includes high/low tables for casual dining, a large sunpad and stairway to the fitness center. She will be equipped with all new toys and tenders. Lady Lola’s sundeck is huge: the forward raised, semi-circular seating features a glass windbreak and occasional tables. Her “Cinema in the Sky” under the arch includes a TV with drop down projector/screen and surround sound. Aft, her Jacuzzi is custom lighted with two-level waterfall, and is accented by chaise lounges and umbrellas. Golf enthusiasts revel given the matchless retractable hatch with golf tee. Lady Lola is available in the Med with a summer rate of 370,000 Euro/week + all expenses and in the Caribbean in the winter of 2012/2013 with a rate of 290,000 Euro/week + all expenses. Oceanco superyacht Lady Lola for sale with Fraser Yachts

Oceanco has engaged Dirk de Jong to reinforce their Technical Sales Department. De Jong is no stranger to the company. He was a Project Manager with Oceanco from 1997-2001, during which time he oversaw the building of both the 62.6 metre Lady Lola and the 95 metre Al Mirqab (now Indian Empress), which is, to date, the longest private yacht ever built in The Netherlands. Most recently De Jong was commercial and project development manager for Platinum Yachts in Dubai, UAE. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/131410/image/large-090152b8260c6c9a6b6c9864846e884e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/131410">A naval architect with degrees in shipbuilding and business administration, De Jong brings a wealth of hands-on experience to Oceanco. Among other jobs, he has worked as both managing director and technical director at Amels Holland B.V, Vlissingen, and as site manager for Feadship. In the last few years, with his own company, Nereus B.V., De Jong was technical and environmental director for SYBASS (Super Yacht Builders Association) and consultant on several megayacht build projects both in the Netherlands and abroad offering wide-ranging services. In his new role at Oceanco, De Jong hopes to continue developing quality technology, introduce new building methods, and assist in taking the company to the next level of excellence and innovation in yacht building. Oceanco hires Dirk de Jong as Design Projects and R&D Manager

King K, hull number 740, was built by Feadship Royal Van Lent &amp; Zonen in 1981 as Carmac VI. In 1991 her original owner took delivery of a new 45m Feadship, Carmac VII, and sold his other yacht to an Italian who renamed her King K. The De Voogt designed yacht is currently for sale, as her owner bought the 62m Oceanco Lady Lola in 2004. King K is based in Nice and for sale through Fraser Yachts, asking $8,800,000.
