It is no surprise that her owner commissioned <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/55" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Omega Architects (Company)">Omega</a> to design his new yacht, as he previously owned another yacht called <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/277" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Yalla46.7m (153'3&quot;)Heesen Yachts2004">Yalla</a> that was designed by the same Dutch design firm. Onboard, the superyacht has many standout features such as the dedicated wellness area on the lower deck, complete with beach club and swimming pool. Powered by twin CAT 3512B engines of 1,573 horsepower each, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2749" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Yalla73.0m (239'6&quot;)CRN Spa2014">Yalla</a> can reach a top speed of 18.5 knots and her 5,500 nautical mile range means that nearly any destination is within reach for her 12 guests.

The MYS Exterior Design Award honours the superyacht with most innovative and refined exterior design. Superyacht line-up for sixth MYS Superyacht Awards Ceremony announced

With five projects still on the go at the Ancona shipyard, SuperYacht Times finds out more about this new surge of design from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a>. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/83726/image/large-dbe1fc34677b5128cb0f4de495c81226.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/83726">Can you share more details about the new projects that are still under construction?We have two pretty big projects underway: we have the <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/yacht-crn-135-launched" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">79-metre CRN 135 that has been launched</a> and is being prepared for delivery, and <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/crn-s-new-62m-motor-yacht-reaches-next-stage-of-build" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">the 61.9-metre CRN 137 that is still in the shed</a> and will be launched during the summer.The welding and the hull and superstructure of <a href="https://sya.superyachttimes.com/news/crn-sells-62m-omega-designed-superyacht" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">a new 62-metre CRN 138</a> is being finished and she will be entering the shed during the month of June. She is a new project designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/55" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Omega Architects (Company)">Omega Architects</a> by Frank Laupman and will be ongoing for the next year and a half. Delivery will be during 2021.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> is nice and busy and we are keeping the perfect level of engagement: a 62-metre goes out, a 62-metre comes in! As the 79-metre is going out, last November we already signed a contract for a new 70-metre and a contract for <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/crn-141-motor-yacht-sold" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">a top secret 60-metre all-aluminium yacht in January</a>. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/83499/image/large-01330bbed1daaaf0d0005e38934f91e3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/83499">Has CRN received any interest in any other concepts? Is there any room at the shipyard to accommodate more?We try to aim to deliver between 2500 and 3000GT per year. We don’t want to do more than that because we want to maintain the quality and stay attentive to both the client and the team. However, there is still space for another sale, either two 500GT or maybe one 50-metre 1000GT.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> released three or four new projects developed with world-renowned designers last year. I can tell you that <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/crn-reveals-new-explorer-yacht-concept-alfarosso" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">the 45-metre, 50-metre and 55-metre explorer yachts designed by Francesco Paszkowski</a> received tremendous feedback and interest. This yacht fits perfectly in line with the history and DNA of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> as we could say we were the first to build an explorer yacht: Mr Gianni Agnelli’s F100 in 1983. As the F100 was only 32.8-metres, a new 45 or 50-metre explorer would be perfect!&nbsp;This concept is a statement, and much more of a crossover as it looks like an explorer, but we have given more attention to what the modern owner of the explorer yacht wants. It has its toys, which are all concealed, but also has beauty. We are trying to make sure that we have linked the soul of an explorer yacht with the soul of a luxury yacht.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/83498/image/large-deb57ec9a18e9c651b44e4feadde1cf6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/83498">How has the CRN design has evolved? Have demands from clients changed?More and more clients are asking for yachts that are capable of going further. <a href="http://CRN%20to%20build%20new%2070m%20custom%20Vallicelli-designed%20motor%20yacht" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">The 70-metre CRN 139 that we are building right now</a> has unique design features to accommodate this kind of travel. It’s got a lot of glass but all of the heating and air conditioning components are designed to be able to go to the strictest climates.&nbsp;There are so many different places in the world that you have to cater the design to it if the client wants to be able to go there. This brings new life to the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> design. These kind of requests are coming in more and more, which is fantastic news for the yachting industry because it means clients are becoming more curious and are ready to visit different places which helps broaden our range of clientele and makes the future exciting.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/67509/image/large-83f329d3fa04402d7e35ebb45dfbbd72.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/67509">What has been the result of the design collaborations? Were there any challenges involved?The main objective of these collaborations was to preserve <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> as the most important Italian shipyard that does full custom yachts. What I mean by full custom yachts it’s that, especially in reference to the last six or seven yachts <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> has launched, there is not one that looks the same as the other. The only two that look similar are two yachts owned by the same family.It’s a lot harder to build yachts that do not look the same! The biggest challenge is that we live in a world where you push a button and you have a 3D rendering automatically, but it’s not necessarily that easy when you are talking to a customer and asking them to imagine what an end product developed especially for them might look like. This is why we picked the top designers to collaborate with us as it has helped the clients visualise their superyacht. This also gives us a stamp of credibility, quality and reliability that shows how high <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> has risen in the yachting industry as these are the top guys in the world working for us on a collaboration basis completely free! We just give them our platform so that they can have a design that is already engineered. Another benefit of working with them is that we also challenge one another with different new ideas and technologies that we can bring to our clients and the market. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/83748/image/large-ba297103cd539c8d4ab60b4f1bdc43a9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/83748">How do you decide on which designer to work with? Is there a strategy behind the collaborations?&nbsp;We chose <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/65" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nuvolari Lenard (Company)">Nuvolari Lenard</a> as he has designed many <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> yachts since the beginning of the 2000s. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/586" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Francesco Paszkowski (Company)">Francesco Paszkowski</a> because he is one of the best when it comes to designing a contemporary, very clever and beautiful looking explorer. We went for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1124" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lobanov (Company)">Lobanov</a> who, despite his young age, has already designed some of the most beautiful and largest yachts on the market. He is very capable of making special designs. We picked <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/289" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Andrea Vallicelli (Company)">Vallicelli</a> because his classic design work is also part of our history, and he has worked a lot in our corner. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/65" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nuvolari Lenard (Company)">Nuvolari</a> has created a more future-past innovative design whereas collaborations with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/161" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="H2 Yacht Design (Company)">H2 Yacht Design</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/153" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nauta Yachts S.r.l. (Company)">Nauta Design</a> have created something special and different.&nbsp;Our strategy is very simple. We wanted to have a diverse and international group of designers. I think they are all so special and they all have tremendous experience and stories to tell - if we all had a dinner party together it would be a fantastic conversation to just sit down and listen to! <img src="/uploads/store/photo/83488/image/large-ca066280a284de479d349f4dca9dd229.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/83488">Have there ever been any thoughts to bring in an in-house design team at CRN?There are no internal designers like with our other brands, as we want to avoid having our designer community scared away by an internal design team. We start with a blank sheet and make sure the client’s talent, vision and inspiration are transformed into an initial design. Then, over time, it evolves as it is reworked and refined by our in-house teams of project managers, project architects, engineers, technical designers and specialist craftspeople who all work closely with the owner’s select team of architects and designers.&nbsp;What we hope is that <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/crn-reveals-new-explorer-yacht-concept-alfarosso" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">the explorer vessel designed by Mr Paszkowski</a> can become a very recognisable design for our company, maybe we can eventually make up to four units. Of course, each one will be a little bit different but that's probably the only design we see as something that could become a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> recognisable product. Otherwise, we want to stay completely custom.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/2118/image/large-564cdbae5cf12ab4b3952abcd38740ac.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/2118">Where do you think that CRN fits in in terms of its branding and its position in the market? Is there a lot of competition?Unfortunately, there is a lot of competition. Especially because we have to remind the market what being a full custom yacht shipbuilder means. It’s very difficult to get the world to understand, evaluate and compare a custom manufacturer with some other manufacturers that tend to have recognisable products and designs&nbsp;This is why branding is important, but also the way we communicate our concept and ideas of a full-custom yacht. We feel stronger than we’ve ever been before because we have a very healthy group behind us with some very long-term thinking investors. We haven’t taken any profits at least since 2012 which means that we have been investing heavily in R&amp;D, new products and new people. If we continue this is means that we should be in an increasingly higher position as a manufacturer of full-custom yachts.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/2122/image/large-6acf5ecdc201f5d74a56c68e71520557.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/2122">How does CRN maintain its position in the market? Can you share any particular marketing strategies?&nbsp;Our marketing strategy always reflects the current market trends and ensures we have a project designed for that kind of clientele. The other thing we focus on is finding the sweet spot between the price to quality ratio. There is a certain richness to our vessels, so the allowances for interiors, systems and so on have to be acceptable. Clients cannot go lower than the package we provide as standard, which makes clients a lot less nervous about not knowing what they’re getting. Our ‘basic offer’ is very well accustomed to all of the needs of a client and its crew, on top of which you can add richness, by which I mean the options to have whatever you like!&nbsp;We also constantly organise events and meetings on a regular basis with our stakeholders to really show them what is in construction and the diversity of our projects. The other thing we focus on is the Ancona shipyard. If you visit you will see how well we have invested in the premises, especially building facilities. That is the most important thing as there is no better marketing than having very tidy and well-organised shipyard with the latest technology to build the yachts that our owners dream and desire.&nbsp;

Another new superyacht hit the water over the weekend - this time at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> shipyard in Italy. The 79-metre yacht CRN 135 was launched during a private ceremony, where over a thousand people saw the fully custom steel and aluminium yacht on the water for the first time. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/67509/image/large-83f329d3fa04402d7e35ebb45dfbbd72.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/67509">The CRN 135 is the result of another successful collaboration between <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/105" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Zuccon International Project (Company)">Zuccon International Project</a> who took care of the external lines, and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/88" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Laura Sessa Romboli (Company)">Laura Sessa</a> who designed the interiors. The 79-metre yacht CRN 135 was launched and over a thousand people saw the fully custom steel and aluminium yacht for the first time.

CRN has spent this week preparing for the launch of its new 79-metre motor yacht CRN 135 in Ancona, Italy. Once completed, the project will be the second longest vessel ever built by the Italian shipyard after its 80-metre flagship from 2013, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2029" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Chopi Chopi80.0m (262'6&quot;)CRN Spa2013">Chopi Chopi</a>.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/64217/image/large-dd38b934da11feb4763584806e213075.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/64217">Designed by Studio Zuccon International Project, with an interior by Laura Sessa and engineering by CRN’s in-house team, this 79-metre project will be characterised by large volumes, a sleek design and true Italian attention to detail. Inside, up to 12 guests can be accommodated in five guest staterooms and a master suite.&nbsp;The construction of the project was represented by Richard Hodgson of Mega Yacht Solutions.In true CRN style, the yacht comes with a lavish beach club that opens on three sides for a panoramic seaside experience.&nbsp;CRN is currently building four additional projects ranging from 60 to 70 metres in length including the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Article/49584" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN to build new custom 60m Nuvolari Lenard-designed motor yacht (2019-02-14 18:30:00 +0100)">recently-announced</a> 60-metre CRN 141 set to be completed in 2022.

Italian yard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN&nbsp;</a>has announced the sale of a new custom 60-metre motor yacht with the hull number 141. The all-aluminium motor yacht will feature in-house naval architecture with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/65" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nuvolari Lenard (Company)">Nuvolari Lenard&nbsp;</a>responsible for the interior and exterior design. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/23149/image/large-cbb5f525878ed6a98c6debfd722f3594.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/23149">The new 60-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)">CRN</a> 141 yacht will be built at the Italian yard's<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/12" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="CRN Spa (Company)"></a> base in Ancona, where the yard is currently building four fully custom CRN yachts between 62 and 79 metres; CRN 135 (79-metres) and CRN 137 (62-metres) which are due for delivery this summer, as well as CRN 139 (70-metres) and CRN 138 (62-metres). More details on this custom yacht project will be revealed as they become available.

CRN 141 motor yacht sold 

CRN has announced the sale of its latest custom superyacht: the 60m CRN 141 motor yacht. 

CRN to build new custom 60m Nuvolari Lenard-designed motor yacht 

With three superyachts currently under consruction, CRN has added another order to its order book with the sale of a new 70-metre custom motor yacht. Known for now as hull number 139, the project is the design work of Rome-based studio, Vallicelli Design.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/54823/image/large-5eef39d19466cf5b1ef2014f938221d8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/54823">Both the exterior lines and interior arrangement of the project is the work of Andrea Vallicelli and Allessandro Nazareth who are the brains behind the project from its concept phase. CRN’s Technical Office worked closely with the yacht’s two designers during the process.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/54909/image/large-5153406b4c2ef6095d524f820b37a5b7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/54909">No additional information has been disclosed by the shipyard. CRN’s next projects to hit the water are the 79-metre hull 135 and 62-metre hull 137, both scheduled to be completed in 2019. CRN to build new 70m custom Vallicelli-designed motor yacht

Looking ahead to the New Year in the industry and 2018 is set to be another interesting year for superyacht launches around the world. Here we round up a selection of the top 10 biggest launches we can expect to see this year.Lürssen - 111mFirst catching a glimpse of the 111-metre latest Lürssen in late 2016, TIS spreads over six decks spanning 16.8 metres across, housing a very generous interior volume. Both the grand exterior and interior spaces have been designed by Winch Design.<a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/luerssen-reveals-111m-superyacht-project-tis"><img src="https://sydis.superyachtcompany.com/uploads/store/photo/3649/image/large-0631914ef813b40a9f7a4c491b817623.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/3649"></a>Feadship - 110mHull 1007 saw daylight for the first time in December 2016. Construction has begun on CRN’s latest superyacht project, the 62-metre hull 137. CRN once again teamed up with Nuvolari Lenard who designed the interior and exterior of the yacht and CRN’s Techinal Department who developed the engineering of the project.

The design office opted for a straight bow design in order to increase the waterline length as well as internal volume, particularly around the forward crew areas. The external look can be described as contemporary with defining curves and swept lines creating a signature look. This profile is topped off with a trademark CRN-style mast.

Hull 137 will house her owner’s quarters on the upper deck which is designed as a dedicated owner’s deck. The master suite leads out onto the aft deck and connects to a forward-facing lounge that can be utilised either as a private space or made available to all guests onboard.

Five additional VIP cabins take the total guest count up to 12, spread over two lower decks.

Hull 137 joins CRN’s other project that is currently under construction, the 50-metre hull 136, Superconero, and 79-metre hull 135.

CRN’s new 62m motor yacht in build

	In true CRN style, the new 74-metre superyacht Cloud 9 was launched over the past weekend as the Italian shipyard welcomed family and friends of the project along with international press to celebrate the birth of one of their largest yachts to date. Cloud 9 was commissioned by an experienced yacht owner and is expected to be ready for delivery in April this year.

	Exterior designers Zuccon International Project and Winch Design collaborated on the design of Cloud 9, who designed the exterior guest areas and interior of the yacht. “It has been a great pleasure to work with Zuccon,” commented Andrew Winch of Winch Design. “I have always admired Mr Zuccon’s exterior designs and to partner with him and CRN for this project has been very exciting.”

	For CRN, the project was just as special: “We are really thrilled to have been involved in the construction of this extraordinary yacht which was a new and exciting challenge for CRN,” commented Alberto Galassi, CRN’s Chairman and CEO of the Ferretti Group. “This incredible 74 metre vessel will reinforce CRN’s expertise and varied range in working with a completely new concept to fulfil an owner’s vision."

	Burgess Technical Services served as owner’s representatives during the project and was responsible for developing the general arrangement with the owner and shipyard during the initial stage of the project. With a beam of 13.5 metres and five expansive decks including a sub deck, the yacht comfortably accommodates up to 16 guests (12 when chartering) in a master suite, VIP suite and six guest cabins, in addition to 22 crew members in 13 cabins plus berths for four staff in two cabins.

	CRN is currently working on another three vessels that are under construction in Ancona: the 79-metre CRN 135, 50-metre CRN Superconero, and the 62-metre CRN 137.

CRN launches 74m superyacht Cloud 9

Last seen in May 2016 as only a semi-completed hull shape, CRN’s project 135 has emerged again at the yacht builder’s facility in Ancona, this time with her completed superstructure in place.

	The latest development in the project involved moving the yacht to an outfitting hall some 800 metres from her construction bay where she will receive her exterior paint and interior outfitting, amongst other things.

	Designed by Studio Zuccon International Project, with an interior by Laura Sessa and engineering by CRN’s in-house team, this 79-metre project will be characterised by large volumes, a sleek design and true Italian attention to detail. CRN 135 is expected to be completed later this year.

	The shipyard will soon be launching its 74-metre project 131 and is also busy with construction on the 50-metre Superconero.

Build update: 79m CRN superyacht nearing completion

Scheduled to be launched in just under a month’s time, Italian shipyard CRN has announced that their latest 74-metre project, the CRN 131, has been moved out of the yard’s shed in Ancona. Featuring exterior design by Zuccon International Project and interior design from Winch Design, she is scheduled for delivery in 2017.

The CRN team comment: “Using engine-powered hydraulic lift trucks, the yacht was positioned on the slipway, the ramp where over the next few weeks the pre-launch operations will be completed. Moving a vessel of this size is always a complex and spectacular operation, which requires the involvement and skills of the all the shipyard workers.”

In addition to the 74-metre superyacht, three more vessels are currently under construction at the Ancona shipyard: the 79-metre CRN 135, 50-metre CRN Superconero, and the 62-metre CRN 137.

CRN moves latest 74m superyacht out of the shed

First announced in March 2014, what started out as a 77 metre project has since developed into a 79 metre superyacht set to be completed next year. Italian shipyard CRN are hard at work on the construction of hull 135, set to become the second largest vessel built by the Ancona-based yard.

The most recent development in the project was the fitting of the yacht’s stern section, which will house the lavish beach club once completed. The next step will be to assembling the vessel’s five deck that will accommodate her 12 guests across five guest cabins and master suite. Designed by Studio Zuccon International Project, with an interior by Laura Sessa and engineering by CRN’s in house team, this 79 metre project will be characterised by large volumes, a sleek design and true Italian attention to detail.

In addition to hull 135, CRN is also constructing the 74 metre hull 131 along with the 50 metre project Superconero.

Build update: CRN’s 79m hull 135 takes shape

CRN have announced a new 50 metre project, superyacht Superconero, designed by Zuccon International Project and features naval architecture by CRN’s inhouse engineering team. CRN signs contract for 50m superyacht Superconero

In March 2014, we announced that CRN had signed a Letters of Intent (LOI) for the construction of a 77 metre superyacht, for a Middle-Eastern client.
