Earlier this week the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine</a> shipyard in Seattle launched the 53.4-metre MLR. Both the interior and exterior lines of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta</a> project 174046 are designed by<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/249" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jonathan Quinn Barnett Ltd (Company)">&nbsp;Jonathan Quinn Barnett&nbsp;</a>(JQB) with naval architecture by the in-house team at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine</a>.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/61999/image/large-24c09c20d1c023b38a1735285b8a9f31.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61999"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/61997/image/large-d1e87d851e70ad7eb2a29b9f2ab4ce25.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61997">The semi-displacement MLR&nbsp; features an aluminium hull and composite superstructure and she is powered by twin 3,860hp MTU diesel engines.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/61996/image/large-06d9dd4d4f27acbc776a6615a1a4b36f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61996">It was just over a year ago that the yacht was <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/in-pictures-delta-marine-53-metre-superyacht-in-build" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">moved from her hull construction shed</a> to the outfitting shed and<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">&nbsp;Delta Marine</a> first <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/in-build-delta-constructing-new-53m-superyacht" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">announced the project</a> in November 2016<img src="/uploads/store/photo/62000/image/large-55aaa15d880c7c0e217e2018a12cf797.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/62000">No official announcements have been made by the shipyard, but we will reveal more details as they become available.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/61998/image/large-320412a9fffcd8a0b59afc0cc9dd8e9d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/61998">

Delta Marine launches 53m yacht MLR 

Seattle-based yard Delta Marine has launched its latest superyacht project, the 53.4-metre yacht MLR. See more on SYT. 

Another of Delta Marine’s new build projects, this time an elegant 64-metre motor yacht, was about to escape the yachting media if it wasn’t for the watchful eyes of the SuperYacht Times media team. We first revealed the project in January after her 2017 New Year’s Eve launch and the yacht has now been spotted undergoing sea trials in the waters outside Seattle ahead of her delivery later this season.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/29084/image/large-546c3aa40d787ec0221e02b7cdd8c4f2.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/29084">Believed to measure between 63 and 64 metres, little is known about the high volume motor yacht that is still cruising under the American flag.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/29083/image/large-ef47d426f11c529220d70398c3fa45de.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/29083">Also currently in build at the yard is the 53-metre Project 174046 designed by Jonathan Quinn Barnett of JQB Design which is expected to be completed later this year.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/29082/image/large-50ff7d6b3e6df576429554e33c57ab63.png" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/29082">Photos by Hugh David Black

New 64m Delta Marine superyacht project undergoing sea trials in Seattle

Delta Marine launches secretive 63m new build project  

Delta Marine announced this week that it is currently underway with construction on a new 53-metre superyacht project. Commissioned by an American pair, project 174046 is the American shipyard’s latest high-performance motor yacht that will be finished in true Delta style with an aluminium hull and lightweight composite superstructure.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/162689/image/large-590247c9dafc552ff8f6530a7dfafd4f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/162689">Seattle-based designer Jonathan Quinn Barnett, who was responsible for the interior design and collaborated with the late Bill Langan on the exterior design of Silver Shalis, was contracted from the start of the project.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/162690/image/large-636e78b94b36f0bc6cf6dcd179fb5be6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/162690">A specific request from the clients included the need for a shallow draft that would allow the yacht access to their favourite cruising grounds in the Bahamas and Caribbean Sea.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/162691/image/large-ca8d35baafa62c24d5d5a74535bdb2c9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/162691">“Jonathan Barnett’s exterior styling gives a fresh and forward look to a proven hull design,” Delta’s Chief Naval Architect Jay Miner. “Not only does the design manage to maintain its sleek shape in profile and elevations, it provides superior glazing dimensions for unobstructed sightlines — something quite unique when considering the interior volume and open deck viewing spaces with windbreaks.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/162692/image/large-94d3065fe97e15b32826a72d5cf0db8a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/162692">Delta Marine will be displaying a model of the project at this week’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
