Built by the German shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/23" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lürssen Yachts (Company)">Lürssen</a> and delivered as Ester III to her original owner in 2014, the 1,527 GT motor yacht features naval architecture by her builder, while <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/82" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Espen Øino International (Company)">Espen Øino</a> is responsible for her masculine exterior. She features prominent styling cues such as her near-vertical bow, sharp-angled surfaces and a two-tone paint job. The interior, designed by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/56" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Reymond Langton Design Ltd. (Company)">Reymond Langton</a>, can accommodate up to 12 guests in six luxurious staterooms. Italian shipyard Benetti has announced today that the 41.93 metre superyacht Mr. D will make her U.S. debut at the upcoming Miami Boat Show. Completed last summer, she is the fifth hull in Benetti’s Crystal 140 series following Lady M, Soy Amor, Luna and My Johanna.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158246/image/large-fc4dd09d6f952a6f1e9c5914eeebddc2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158246">She features exterior design by Stefano Righini, whilst her sophisticated, opulent interiors come from the drawing boards of Ezequiel Farca. The 41.93m superyacht Mr. D to make US debut in Miami

The Italian shipyard Benetti Yachts has completed the fifth superyacht in the Cyrstal 140 series, named Mr. D. Since her delivery Mr. D has been in Venice, Italy and she is pictured here in Split, Croatia a couple of days ago and now she is heading to Dubrovnik after a stop in Hvar.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/155580/image/large-8b5d143aa570b55b675293227ff16940.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/155580">Benetti has not officially released any information on the 41.93 metre superyacht <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5585">Mr. D</a>, however the Crystal 140 series are designed by Stefano Righini, powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines, have a maximum speed of 15 knots and a range of 4000 nautical miles.The first Crystal 140 superyacht, <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3740">My Johanna</a>, was delivered in 2011, she was followed by <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3741">Luna</a> in 2013, <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4629">Soy Amor</a> in 2014 and <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4805">Lady M</a> and <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5585">Mr. D </a>in 2015.By Merijn de Waard, photo by Korkira

Benetti completes Crystal 140 superyacht Mr. D

Built by the Italian shipyard Benetti in 2015, the 41.93 metre superyacht Mr. D features exterior design by Stefano Righini Design, whilst her luxurious interiors come from Zuretti Interior Design. She is the fifth hull in Benetti’s Crystal 140 series, of which the first vessel, My Johanna, was completed in 2011. Benetti state that in the creation of Mr. D, a strong Caribbean influence was proposed by her owner.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158449/image/large-3226e445c4d7891fce506db9f92a6ca6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158439">The main deck is the true beating heart of the boat: with a large living area with a central sofa and comfortable armchairs and a bar area, it is the ideal place for relaxing or entertaining. Closing the glass doors it is possible isolate this zone from the exterior and provide climate control. You’ll also find a reference to days gone by, a reassuring symbol of sea and navigation: the smoke stack. In order to show that on this new and modern boat, everything still tastes of sea and salt. The smoke stack has a function different than the ones we used to know, being repurposed for hiding mechanicals and providing stowage space.The hard top with sliding cover ensures adequate shelter from the sun while at the table enjoying an al fresco dining experience, or in the dining area, while at the same time enabling guests to continue enjoying the breeze and the sun in the relaxation area toward the stern.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158454/image/large-494326c061fc8be4f1505e05776b288b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158454"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158455/image/large-4422c93e4d2ae83ceff39284b3776861.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158455">In regards to her performance, she is powered by twin CAT C32 Acer engines, which provide her with a top speed of 15 knots, with a cruising speed of 14 knots. She has a range of 4,000 nm. Lateral stability is assured by a fairly broad hull and by the fins in the Naiad Stabilisation @ Anchor system, which is also capable of functioning when the yacht is at anchor.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158456/image/large-9e2f66d51336170cbfb37812798aeadd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158456">On-board systems are equipped with state-of-the-art Benetti technology, which allows centralised control, including remotely, of all on-board electrical and electronic equipment, as well as all boat systems, by monitoring operating status and reporting any anomalies. The touch-screen interfaces are extremely user friendly and intuitive.Particular attention was paid to the design of the wheelhouse based on innovative integrated architecture that, thanks to LCD monitors with latest generation of touch-screen functionality and ergonomic controllers, has made it possible to reinstate all functions in a single control panel, resulting in an efficient console with an avant-garde look and functionality.By Gemma Fottles
