Scheduled to kick-off tomorrow, this year sees the Cannes Yachting Festival celebrate its 40th Anniversary. Year after year the show maintains its reputation as one of the most important yachting events of the year, and the 2017 edition promises to be no different.

Cannes 2017 Preview: Top 10 superyachts for sale

The 30 metre Maxi Dolphin sailing yacht Nomad IV claimed line honours yesterday in the 2015 RORC Transatlantic Race when she crossed the finish line outside the Camper &amp; Nicholsons Port Louis Marina in Grenada. The monohul class winner averaged a boat speed of just under 12 knots over the 3,000nm race, having led the field from the start line in the Canary Islands 10 days ago.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157505/image/large-8e9137febd709ecd3b243eab5fd28c57.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157505">"We were so disappointed last year when our broken boom made us retire, but this year has been really special. We have had very few problems, so it's a different story. Nomad IV crew is a combination of five regular crew, five French TP52 sailors and five Russian guests and we have had such an incredible time together,” said French skipper Jean-Paul Riviere.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157506/image/large-7b452a2626beb8398c8738cdc46498bb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157506">Still following is the Southern Wind 94 yacht Windfall. Victory for Nomad IV in RORC in Transatlantic Race

The second edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race got underway this weekend when the fleet headed west having started from Marina Lanzarote, off the west coast of Morocco. A solid breeze of 15 knots saw the sailing yachts off to a good start as they set their courses for the finish line at Camper &amp; Nicholsons’ Port Louis Marina in Grenada.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157372/image/large-7a864b04faaf60641ec3dd681d54c262.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157372">A range of yachts are taking part in the race, arranging from shorthanded 40 foot monohuls to ultra fast multihulls such as the lime green Phaedo3. Three powerful Maxis are taking part in the race, with Southern Wind’s 94 ft. Windfall taking part for the second time. Skippered by Olympic sailor Timothy Goodbody, Winfall managed to hold off Jean-Paul Riverie’s 100 ft. Nomad IV to the first mark at Puerto Calero Marina as they headed west. Following them, but holding on to an IRC rating-lead is the 78 ft. Swan Valkyrie.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157373/image/large-4c7a8ef63391dfe1680ca69fa2514b27.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157373">Another tough battle was unfolding between the two MOD 70 Trimarans Concise 10 and Phaedo3. First look on board 30.48 metre FC100

The 30.48 metre FC100 yacht, which will be named <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4965" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nomad IV30.48m (100'0&quot;)Maxi Dolphin s.r.l.2013">Nomad IV</a>, left the Maxi Dolphin shipyard to be transported to Marghera, near Venice (Italy), where construction works will continue until mid-July 2013 when it will be finally handed over to its owner.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/143973/image/large-fa8f0c0ad1788dffb68a4ae8386bdc5c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/143973">Designed by the French naval architects Finot-Conq, it has sleek waterlines with its hull and superstructure built entirely of carbon fibre and Nomex, which, with 51 tons of displacement, will guarantee outstanding sailing performance.The “racing” style of the yacht is given by the shape of the hull with its prominent hard chine running from bow to stern, 9 tons of ballast on each side, lifting keel and two rudders.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/143974/image/large-afe5a8eb8895b7601e9daff7f0182085.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/143974">The “cruiser” element of the yacht is expressed by its stylishly minimalist interior layout, designed by Pierre Frutschi and developed and implemented by Maxi Dolphin’s design office in close collaboration with the owner.The elegant living spaces and cabins, designed and planned by the architect Pierre Forgia’ of Finot-Conq architects, are very comfortable and the yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests in addition to the crew.Following tests and sea trials (800 miles of sea trials are planned), an intense season of racing is planned for the FC100, starting from the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

30.48 Metres FC3 100 yacht leaves the Maxi Dolphin shipyard 

The Maxi Dolphin shipyard is currently working on a new 100-foot superyacht, the FC100. The yacht’s hull and waterline were designed by the French naval architects Finot-Conq, and the minimalist interior concept was designed by Pierre Frutschi, in close collaboration with the owner, and will feature matt white surfaces, in combination with polished black furniture, and indirect lighting, which will create a bright and spacious interior.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/141253/image/large-0e45be305145d7de0cb1101c43d1b281.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/141253">The yacht’s cabins are fitted with ultra-light, thin carpet to meet the owner’s need for comfort without compromising the boat’s sporty appearance and incredible lightness. In fact, the FC100 has been designed so it does not exceed 51 tons.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/141254/image/large-b4dacfe0bcaf1bf8764928c65e160f9d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/141254">The boat is provided with a Lifting keel and two rudders, and is entirely built in carbon and Nomex, using the Pre-Preg construction technology.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/141255/image/large-b257fa5218e258522a77280ef4856394.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/141255">The shipyard plans the launch of FC100 for May 2013. The owner and his team have already planned a racing schedule, which will start from the end of 2013. They will be in the Mediterranean at Maxi Rolex in September 2013.
