The exclusive biennial superyacht regatta is again to take place in the glistening waters off Porto Cervo, Sardinia this year. Hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smerelda, the Perini Navi Cup will take place from 2 – 5 September and attracts a number of superyachts built by the acclaimed Italian shipyard, to battle for line honours over three days of racing.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/155861/image/large-acfe05da1def7fab7a5e29f665879598.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/155861">The fleet this year consists of over 13 Perini Navi yachts, including the new 60m Perseus 3, 2013 regatta’s star, Seahawk, as well as familiar sights such as the iconic 88m Maltese Falcon, the 2007 Helios and the 2008-built Baysian (ex. Salute). The special Picchiotti Vitruvius 50m motor yacht Exuma will also be making an appearance, upon returning to the Med after recently spending time in South East Asia and other pacific destinations.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/155862/image/large-e28d91772fc8d06f230d61e919377e91.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/155862">The race committee will be enforcing the new ORC SY handicapping rule; a set of guidelines specifically designed to ensure safety and ultimate enjoymeny by all on the water during superyacht regattas, while still retaining the spirit of true regatta racing. Both her naval and interior were designed by the Perini Navi shipyard in Viareggio, Italy. With a length of 40 metres, superyacht Principessa Vai via comfortably accommodates 10 guests. The Perini Navi Group is ready to begin the fourth edition of the Perini Navi Cup. The competition, open only to yachts from the Perini Navi fleet, will take place against the wonderful backdrop of Porto Cervo, Sardinia. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136383/image/large-2f10f23fb87e83063d64dea8583c86e4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/128885">The regatta, organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and Perini Navi, also avails itself of collaborations with important national and international brands such as Audi, Axa Yachting Solutions, Calvisius, Champagne Pommery, Icet, Marina Yachting, Quadrivio Sgr, Rolex, Sonus Faber and Yacht Capital. The 2011 edition of the Perini Navi Cup will see 19 yachts participating in three days of racing to win the Perini Navi Trophy, which in the past has been won by the 40m ketch <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1501">Principessa Vaivia</a> and by the 88m clipper <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/385">The Maltese Falcon</a>. On top of the overall trophy, there will be prizes for the daily regattas with the Marina Yachting, Axa Yachting Solutions and Quadrivio Sgr trophies. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/136384/image/large-19e4143c7220d1f7a392ea5dfb23746d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/128880">The fleet gathering in the waters of Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda will range from the 33.5m sloop <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4199">Heritage M</a> to the 88m clipper <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/385">The Maltese Falcon</a>. Some of the Perini Navi Group’s most recently launched yachts, including the 56m ketch <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1938">Fidelis</a>, will also be present. The ORC rating system will be used and the regatta will be run by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda staff. Fourth edition of Perini Navi Cup to start next week

Morning Glory was built by Perini Navi in 1993 and was one of the very few Perini yachts launched with a white hull. She was originally owned by a well known media tycoon, who took delivery of the 55m Perini <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/367">Rosehearty</a> in 2006. These days the yacht is reportedly owned by a media tycoon from Italy, who previously owned another Perini Navi, the <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1501">Principessa Vaivia</a>. She cruised extensively around Australia and New Zealand last winter and is currently cruising the Caribbean. By Merijn de Waard
