Following the increasing popularity of conversion superyachts, comes the newly announced Project Phoenix, a luxury yacht, which was originally converted from a 57-metre cable laying vessel. The commercial yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Birraha54.75m (179'8&quot;)E.J. Smit & Zoon's Scheepswerven N.V.1969">Phoenix</a> was launched in the Netherlands in 1968 at the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/987" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="E.J. Smit & Zoon's Scheepswerven N.V. (Company)">EJ Smit &amp; Zoon Shipyard</a> after a 30 year career on the oceans.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195518/image/large-f1c754377532e746fb9f146f6691d6c0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195518">In the 1990’s the vessel was converted into a luxury yacht, known over the years as both Fils de Grace and Sir Arthur J. &nbsp;Gradually the yacht fell into disrepair and was due to undergo another rebuild in the early 2010’s which was not conducted. At that time she was known under the name of <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/54-metre-superyacht-touya-under-refit-in-turkey" target="_blank">Touya</a>, and she has also been called Birraha.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195529/image/large-74f71c411ceb4f5bd4de48ae04c6ed61.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195529">In the subsequent years since the last work was conducted, the yacht has been stripped back down to her bare steel hull. Today the project is being revitalised under the supervision of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/136" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ocean Independence (Company)">Ocean Independence</a>, with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4522" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ICT Yachts (Company)">ICT Shipyard</a> in Turkey overseeing the extensive work needed.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195531/image/large-4628d6373d3347dfb5ae56755450becf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195531"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195537/image/large-5bfcc32c703f5639b756d272e3290e07.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195537">Frank Laupman of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/55" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Omega Architects (Company)">Omega Architects</a> is now involved in the project, creating the exterior lines and interior design of the superyacht. New designs have been released for the rebuild of the conversion superyacht Sir Arthur J, now known as Project Phoenix.

The Nautique Refit and New Build Department, part of the Nautique Group, an international marine equipment, yacht interior fabricator and yacht management organisation, has recently commenced a major refit of a 54m, 715 gross ton super yacht in Istanbul Turkey on behalf of a European client.<img alt="" src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/135435/image/large-3611c55dd24c082fb5a02173f26c1221.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/135435" class="legacy">The yacht formerly known as Fils de Grace and Sir Arthur J, was originally constructed in Holland in 1968 as a cable laying ship. In the 90’s she was converted to a yacht. The project is now known as <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Touya</a>.This is the second major refit project undertaken by the Nautique Refit and new Build department. Last year the 38m <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1424" data-legacy="true" href="#managed-by-application">Zeepaard</a> was extensively and successfully refitted in Istanbul by the group according to Don Dennison, the Touya Refit Project Manager and Orhan Celik, the Nautique Refit &amp; New Build Operations Manager.During the refit, the vessel will be brought up to full charter yacht class, and unrestricted navigation under BV supervision. All modifications will be made so she will be MCA LY2 compliant.<img alt="" src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/135436/image/large-e68c49f2e988df64ae0aa83a5bb82f66.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/135436" class="legacy">Nautique retained Mulder Design as Naval Architects, while the client has appointed Tim Saunders Yacht Design for the interior design and exterior styling, and Castle Rock Marine as owner’s representative.At present the Touya has been totally stripped of all furniture, wiring, piping and all machinery. The only items left aboard that will not be changed are the twin rudders and the original steering gear.The Nautique Refit &amp; New Build Department, expects to re-launch the Touya in early 2012. Nautique is firmly committed to developing expertise in medium and large yacht refits, Nautique is convinced that refits when carried out in the right Turkish shipyards, using the best local skilled labour and combined with experienced management can be very cost competitive.

David Price of BCR Yachts, acting on behalf of the seller, and Jean Jacques Soete of AB Yacht, acting on behalf of the buyer, have sold the 54 metre converted luxury yacht Fils de Grace. Originally built as a cable layer by E.J. BCR Yachts and AB Yacht sell 54m Fils de Grace

David Price in the Antibes office of BCR Yachts is pleased to announce their appointment as the central agent for the sale of the 54 metre motor yacht Fils de Grace. Originally built as a cable layer by E.J. A new success story for De Valk International, the steel displacement MY <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7">Sir Arthur J</a> has been sold by yacht broker Robert G. Drontmann.<div align="center">

Both the initial construction and the refit were carried out by skilled yards in the Netherlands. <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7"> Sir Arthur J</a>’s heavy-displacement round-bilged hull features a classy canoe stern and a wealth of space with two-metre headway throughout. The yacht accommodates 12 people and offers a wide range of luxurious options, including a lounge area, saloon/movie center and an integrated whirlpool bathtub on the main deck. This marvelous yacht has been sold to a European citizen and is now cruising in the Mediterranean.
