Built as the first ice-class vessel in the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> fleet, <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/promise" target="_blank">Promise</a> is the design work of Feadship’s in-house team of designers at <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/companies/de-voogt" target="_blank">Studio De Voogt</a> while the interiors come from the drawing boards at<a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/companies/bannenberg-rowell" target="_blank">&nbsp;Bannenberg &amp; Rowell Design</a> in London. Made for exploring, she comes with a range of 4,500 nm, Promise is designed for autonomous cruising in all conditions while accommodating her 12 guests in absolute comfort. Boating activity has been growing in the city as the Prada Cup kicked off today in Auckland, leading up to the America's Cup regatta which starts on 6 March 2021.

The Australian shipyard, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/3256" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Rivergate Marina & Shipyard (Company)">Rivergate Marina and Shipyard</a>, has announced new plans for a $200 million investment in a new maintenance and refit hub.&nbsp;The proposed expansion aims to service large luxury vessels over 50 metres, which they hope will catalyse an increase in superyacht visitation to Australia and the wider Pacific region. The expansion would also provide a syncrolift capable of lifting superyachts of up to 3,000 tonnes for vital inspections, maintenance, repairs and refits. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/179685/image/large-142e6cd6d0ac32a984a8a2c8e184530c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/179685">Other plans include a hardstand with capacity for multiple superyachts, three large refit sheds, two in-water service berths, a five-storey trade centre with offices, training rooms, a café, crew accommodation, crew recreation facilities and car parking. “We know that there is substantial pent-up demand among superyacht owners to visit our region, which is currently hampered by the lack of adequate lifting, repair and refit facilities,” says Rivergate Director Tom Hill.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/179684/image/large-82160f0143651aff2f5c53e2f50109dd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/179684">“The world is experiencing a superyacht building boom and the average size of these vessels is also increasing, so the expansion of Rivergate is ideally timed to accommodate this growth and make our region much more accessible for superyachts,” he adds. This month, SuperYacht Times is interviewing a range of industry leaders in the brokerage sector to find out their views on the 2018 superyacht market. Today we hear from Alex G Clarke, Senior Broker for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yacht Sales (Company)">Denison</a>. Having played an intrumental part in expanding the company by establishing the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yacht Sales (Company)">Denison</a> Yachting Charter Division, the Mexico office and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yacht Sales (Company)">Denison</a> Superyacht Division, Clarke has come a long way from his first introduction to the industry as a deckhand.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/62743/image/large-d288f5ba764c0b77ba4fe9cb27226e36.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/62743"> In 2017, 284 30+ metre used yachts were sold. Similarly, in 2018, around 280 (to be confirmed) used yachts were sold. How does your sentiment of the market compare? Do you see that the market is stable or growing? &nbsp; In 2018 <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yacht Sales (Company)">Denison Yachting</a> sold 45 yachts over 24-metres and represented the buyer in 24 of those transactions - which is almost 50/50 when comparing working with a buyer versus seller. These numbers are well up in comparison to 2017 where we sold 30 yachts over 24-metres - so we are slowly gaining market share which I feel will remain steady. Every broker has aspirations of selling a 60-metre+ but the consistent activity is seen in the 40-metre range which is what we are focusing on.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/22162/image/large-11ae03e39e625aa3f7da162081210cbb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/22162">Have you seen a shift in clients in the past year? For example, in nationality, age, gender or occupation - or any other observations you have noticed. This past year I have had some very young clients buying yachts which I feel was due to the gains in stock market activity - in particular when Bitcoin was trading at high values, it made some people extremely wealthy almost overnight. I sold two 30-metre yachts last year due to that scenario.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/57766/image/large-781fd9ec13d4b3d560b475bf1cd63361.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/57766">What is your view on the pricing of yachts? Are there fewer reductions in the price of <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yachts/for-sale">yachts for sale</a> or are yachts sold closer to their asking prices?The majority of yachts in the 30m+ segment are priced accurately and it is easy to see what is overpriced when comparing similar sold boat reports over the past 48 months (as an example take a look at the 55-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/18" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Amels (Company)">Amels</a> that are currently for sale and see what is priced accurately vs high).&nbsp;Some brokers still tell a client they believe their yacht is worth more than it really is in order to secure a listing agreement, and then its just a matter of time until that big drop comes six to eight months after the yacht enters the brokerage market. To me, this is a waste of time but some owners like to test the market before accepting the reality check (especially with late model yachts).<img src="/uploads/store/photo/53021/image/large-6e0f641b6bc7f5dbfcca078ae09b4a57.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/53021">Do you see a particular market that is very popular right now? For example, yachts of a certain size, certain builder or age?I love and have always been a big proponent of explorer yachts, especially after having sold both new construction and brokerage explorers. I feel it will continue to keep gaining popularity and there was a major growth in 2017-2018 where builders like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> launched true explorer yachts like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6297" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sherpa73.6m (241'6&quot;)Feadship2018">Sherpa</a> and the ice-classed <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6414" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Promise51.0m (167'4&quot;)Feadship2018">Promise</a>. Now even builders like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/54" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Heesen Yachts (Company)">Heesen</a> offer an explorer yacht in their portfolio.&nbsp;The industry leader <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2354" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) (Company)">Cantiere delle Marche</a> has been extremely smart in focusing on the 24-45-metre segment of the market building very capable ‘pocket explorers’ in the $10-20million price range. This appeals to a broader demographic of potential buyers who are tired of ‘white boats’ and want something a little more capable with extended ranges and the ability to carry more tenders and toys. I love what they are doing and I have been involved with the co-founder of CdM Ennio Cecchini and naval architect Sergio Cutolo of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1181" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Hydro Tec S.r.l. (Company)">HydroTec</a> for over ten years now, both of which I would consider pioneers in the explorer market. It was only a matter of time until this picked up traction, so watch this space!<img src="/uploads/store/photo/43791/image/large-744aad646c281de2e416089f74585479.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/43791">What are your expectations and predictions for the superyacht market in 2019? What are you looking forward to?I have heard some concerns from clients that there could be a downturn in markets for 2019, but I still see it going strong even if the real estate market seems to slow, or interest rates are increased. For me the past three years have been pretty steady across the board and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Even with the volatility and inconsistencies with the DOW I think we will continue to see strong sales in 2019.&nbsp;My personal goals for 2019 and for those of the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yacht Sales (Company)">Denison</a> Super Yacht division would be to keep gaining market share. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yacht Sales (Company)">Denison</a> tends to be off the radar for some of the ‘larger’ or European based brokerage firms but I think people are starting to take notice. Earlier this morning, Feadship launched its latest superyacht, Project 701, in Aalsmeer after the shipyard was seen preparing for the yacht's <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Article/48868" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Exclusive: Feadship’s 51m superyacht project 701 ready to launch (2018-08-09 13:30:00 +0200)">unveiling last week</a>. In Pictures: 51m Feadship superyacht Project 701 launched

The SuperYacht Times team were off to an early start this morning to capture a sneak peek of the latest 51-metre project currently underway at Feadship’s facilities in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands. &nbsp;Known as&nbsp;Project 701, she was <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/new-feadship-superyacht-project-revealed" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">first revealed&nbsp;</a>to the public just under a year ago.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/44922/image/large-63b2a21bab58713cd428f53f760a6653.JPG" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/44922">De Voogt Naval Architects undertook her naval architecture, with Bannenberg &amp; Rowell responsible for her interior design. Still shrouded in secrecy as she prepares for her launch ahead of delivery later this year, few details are yet known of the project. Exclusive: Feadship’s 51m superyacht project 701 ready to launch

The Dutch shipyard, Feadship has given SuperYacht Times an exclusive update on their order book, which consists of 17 projects. It is the first time the shipyard has released their complete order book, with the company usually only announcing their projects when they are in the outfitting stage. However, with more information freely available today than ever before, and a need for more transparency in the business, Feadship has decided to release their full order book.&nbsp;The 17 projects have a total combined length of 1,314.48 metres and the average length of a project on order at Feadship is 77.32 metres.&nbsp;Feadship superyachts are currently being built at three different locations, however, from next year a new yard in Amsterdam <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/feadship-s-new-amsterdam-shipyard-on-track-for-2019-completion" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">will be opened</a>. Here we look at the projects across all of the different facilities, however, we do not yet know which of the Royal Van Lent projects will be built in the new Amsterdam facility.&nbsp; Kaag (&amp; Amsterdam) – Royal Van Lent Royal Van Lent currently has six projects underway which range from 71.5-metres to 94-metres. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/20281/image/large-92c3a25149ff14bba1e081fb8a6479a9.JPG" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/20281" style="background-color: initial; font-size: 0.85rem;"> 814 – 93m – 2019 Project 814 (pictured above) is a 93-metre motor yacht from the drawing boards of Michael Leach Design, with an interior by Reymond Langton Design. In November 2016 her hull was completed and she is currently <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Article/46647" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="93m Feadship hull spotted in Holland (2016-11-29 09:10:00 +0100)">inside the Kaag yard</a> and due for delivery in 2019.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/7636/image/large-622df554a36e74b0af067527ef67c440.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/7636"> 815 – 73.6m – 2018&nbsp; The first project to be launched from the Royal Van Lent facility is the 73.6m project 815 (photo above). Her hull was <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/feadship-hull-815-on-the-move" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">pictured in the Dutch landscape</a> by SuperYacht Times in April 2017. As can be seen on the photos of her hull, she looks like a true adventure yacht and it will be interesting to see what the finished vessel will look like and whether the owner will use her for global exploration adventures.&nbsp;88m Little is known about this project, and judging by her current delivery date it will be a significant time before we will see anything substantial from her.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/20971/image/large-077335697960378d3d8f1f98b5c94288.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/20971" style="background-color: initial; font-size: 0.85rem;"> 818 – 75m – 2019 On Tuesday of this week, SYT captured the <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/first-look-new-75m-feadship-superyacht-launched" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">launch of the hull of project 818</a> (see photo above). After the launch, she was transported to Kaag for her final fitting before her delivery next year. Although details of the project are scarce, we know that the yacht will have a straight bow. Two further projects are in build at Royal Van Lent with a total length of 165.5 metres. Aalsmeer (Koninklijke De Vries)The Aalsmeer yard of Koninklijke De Vries will deliver eight superyachts between now and 2020 and they will range in length from 47 metres up to 87 metres. The first will be Project 697, which has already been launched. 697 – 47m – 2018 This classically styled Feadship was <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/feadship-launches-47m-superyacht-project-697" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">launched in October</a> and will be the first Feadship delivery of 2018. Project 697 is a tri-deck displacement yacht sporting a steel hull finished in Midnight Blue and a Matterhorn White aluminium superstructure.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/16123/image/large-65295e0c9a3202c10c5fa0aa486a815a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/16123"> Alongside her classic design, however Project 697 also features some contemporary components, including grilles on the mast, the sides of the superstructure and the main deck forward, which are part of the underlying aluminium structure (for more details about the design of Project 697, see <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/new-details-revealed-on-feadship-project-697" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">here.)</a><img src="/uploads/store/photo/14663/image/large-705a7fd1a00232acc3aed69a223cd059.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/14663" style="background-color: initial; font-size: 0.85rem;"> 699 – 58m – 2019 SYT captured the completed hull and superstructure of this project designed by Philippe Briand under the Vitruvius brand in <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/on-scene-60m-feadship-vitruvius-yacht-on-the-move" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">October 2017</a> (photo above). The interior of the 58-metre all aluminium motor yacht is designed by Studio Liaigre, and described as ‘a beach house on the water’. The displacement motor yacht is designed by De Voogt Naval Architects with an interior by Bannenberg &amp; Rowell Design.75m No further details have been revealed about this superyacht project.A further three projects are in build at De Vries with a total length of 196.5 metres.&nbsp; Makkum (Koninklijke De Vries)The largest Feadship yachts are being built in the Makkum Facility. The exterior of project 1008 has been designed by Michael Leach Design and the completed hull and superstructure was <a href="https://www.superyachttimes.com/yacht-news/in-build-feadship-s-110m-hull-1007-on-the-move" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="">captured by the SYT team in December 2016,</a> while on the move to the facility in Makkum (photo above).99m No further details have yet been revealed about this superyacht project.&nbsp;One further project is in build at Makkum with a length of 95 metres.

Feadship superyacht order book revealed

A new Feadship motor yacht project estimated to measure around 50 metres in length was revealed for the first time earlier today as the vessel is being prepared for transportation to her final Feadship construction shed.
