Recently spotted in Sardinia is the 50-metre Heesen motor yacht Rocket built by the Dutch shipyard in 2011 to a design by Omega Architects.

The weekend saw the end of the 27th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show, where tens of thousands of visitors saw 800 brands and exhibitors and 450 boats and yachts on display. There was a particular focus on sustainability from many exhibitors, as well as 15 global and 23 regional launches over the event, including seven from leading Emirati yacht manufacturer, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/955" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Gulf Craft (Company)">Gulf Craft</a>.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/65673/image/large-716e61bd1ad881ae4280ee27fc963757.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65673"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/65670/image/large-2391ee92560359fb6e4deb7ccfca4c3e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/65670">Mahmoud Itani of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/955" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Gulf Craft (Company)">Gulf Craft</a> explained: “We decided to make a solar-powered yacht to be more environmentally friendly and to reduce our carbon footprint. The solar panels on the NOMAD’s roof are used to power the boat’s auxiliaries, such as lights, electrical sockets, AC for an overnight stay with up to eight hours at full charge. When we’ve spoken about engines, for example, we’ve been asked about the more sustainable options that are available. Her athletic exterior appearance is matched by her impressive running figures, boasting a top speed of 23 knots while achieving a fuel consumption rate of a mere 120 litre/h when cruising at 10 knots. Heesen's superyacht project Azuro, the yard's fourth 50 metre semi-displacement aluminium yacht, is nearing completion, and we recently met up with Mark Cavendish, Heesen's Sales and Marketing Director, to find our more about this new yacht. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/146974/image/large-2e28062a3f53eea8f87074b6d9ff27ca.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/146974">Azuro is a sistership to Ice Angel, Ventura and Satori, one of the most highly rated of her size, winning the ultimate accolade of World Superyacht of the Year."All four yachts are based on the same extremely efficient semi-dipslacement hull design giving speeds up to 23 knots and exceptional efficiency at low speeds for example at 10 knots the consumption is as low as 120 litres per hour!" Mark commented, when asked about some of the special features of the 50 metre series."Satori has a total of 5 cabins with the striking Remi Tessier interior, Ice Angel is different with her 6 cabins and highly customised interior designed by her owner. Ventura has 7 cabins and Azuro has 6 cabins and both have interior design by Francesco Paszkowski in different but contemporary style, so all the yachts are different and each has been customised to their owner's requirements".When we ask about the stage of the construction, Mark says: "Construction is at a very advanced stage. The luxury interior is being installed and the paintwork is about 90%. She will be launched into the water at the end of March!"Looking at that luxury interior, Paszkowski’s style takes the form of natural minimalism and Azuro is an ideal yacht for such a beautifully pure concept. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/146975/image/large-8d0f0a0bafe13020d62b95d0b728f948.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/146975">Just three materials have been selected for all interior surfaces: teak, limestone and leather. In the main saloon silk-surfaced limestone adorns the sideboards, floorboards are of unpolished teak and the ceiling is covered with pale tan leather.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/146976/image/large-7e0cef9b0172ddba5f021d4c49e4a2e4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/146976">The sky lounge is designed around the idea of concentric circles: curved glazed doors set behind curved soft sofas and circular polished steel tables. For entertaining, the saloon leads out to a dining terrace that provides spectacular panoramic views.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/146977/image/large-0301d8de15815c5cabc5f33b8d512636.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/146977">Azuro’s master suite is set forward on the main deck. Both bedroom and bathroom are full-beam with windows along the entire length of the suite. The minimalist theme is calm and contemporary with sliding panels concealing details such as the entertainment system. Additional suites are all on the lower deck and include a full-beam VIP with a large ensuite bathroom, two double and two twin cabins.Mark finishes by summing up Azuro's unique selling points."Her advanced light weight aluminium construction giving both high speed and low fuel consumption at lower speeds, her long range and her 6 cabin guest accommodation. Sophisticated naval architecture, combined with Heesen’s weight reduction expertise and a pair of 2.720kW MTU engines have combined to create a yacht with a range of 3.200nm and top flight fuel economy. Twelve guests are accommodated in 6 cabins, 5 of which (including a VIP suite which occupies the yacht’s full beam) are located on the lower deck, while the owner’s suite, that also occupies the full-beam, is located forward on the main deck.Photo by Christo303

The sale of the first of these, YN 16551, a 51-metre, full-displacement vessel was completed in December 2010 to create an enviable total of 7 vessels sold during that year. The first sale of 2011 – YN 15850, a 50-metre, all-aluminium semi-displacement vessel – was completed in January 2011. The contract has been signed thanks to a fruitful collaboration with Burgess.Heesen’s order book now consists of fifteen yachts currently in construction, all of which will be delivered to their owners by the end of 2014. These figures confirm the strength and financial reliability of this world-renowned company.YN 16551 This yacht is a 51-metre full-displacement, long range vessel with a steel, round-bilge hull-form and aluminium superstructure.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/133810/image/large-37fc0a5ea278c42f52b2384c6a230024.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133810">The contract was signed in December 2010. This yacht offers some unique features, including a 70 square metre gymnasium that is located forward on the main deck - the traditional home of the master suite.The yacht, designed by Omega Architects, will be powered by a pair of MTU 12V4000 M53 diesels driving twin propellers, which will power it to a maximum speed of 15,6 knots.The Owner has appointed New York based architectural studio Mojo Stumer, which collaborated with Heesen on the interior design of M.Y. Heesen Yachts signs contracts for 51 and 50 metre superyachts 

Heesen Yachts is proud to announce the joining of the superstructure to the hull of construction number 15850, the second superyacht in the new 5000 class. This 50m semi-displacement motor yacht is one of the few vessels of this length available with a Gross Tonnage of below 500GT.
