Superyacht Bliss in Conca dei Marini, Italy

Seen here anchored off the Italian coastal town of Conca dei Marini in the Campania region is the 52 metre superyacht Bliss. Built by Palmer Johnson in 2014, Bliss is constructed entirely out of aluminium. She features an exterior and interior design by Nuvolari &amp; Lenard, whilst Palmer Johnson were responsible for her naval architecture of the vessel. Bliss is the second unit in the shipyard’s PJ 170 series that was constructed at its previous facility in Sturgeon Bay. The two other yachts in the series are the 2010-built DB9 and Sanam, which was recently delivered after having been completed in Dania, Florida.

The 52m Palmer Johnson superyacht Bliss in Campania

The third hull of Palmer Johnson’s PJ 170 SportYacht range arrived in the Mediterranean this week. The 52 metre yacht was launched in 2015 as the last vessel to be completed at Palmer Johnson’s Sturgeon Bay facility in the U.S.A, from where she was transported to Dania, Florida, for final outfitting at the end of last year.

Named Sanam, the yacht is designed by the Italian design duo Nuvolari Lenard as sister ships to DB9 (2010) and Bliss (2014). Bliss and Sanam both feature an enclosed upper deck area whereas DB9’s open sundeck and gold exterior clearly sets her apart in the PJ 170 range.

Palmer Johnson announced in September last year that the company will be closing its doors and is to move production to the Netherlands. In the report PJ stated that some of its initial intentions at its new production facility (still to be confirmed) will be the completion of hull number two of the PJ 48 full-carbon SuperSport series, the hull of which is currently located in Norway.

Palmer Johnson delivers third PJ 170 superyacht

The third hull of the PJ170 aluminium SportYacht to be constructed at Palmer Johnson’s Sturgeon Bay yard is currently in south Florida, after having been transported from the company’s Wisconsin-based facility in November. Exclusive: Third PJ 170 being completed in Florida

The third and final hull of the PJ170 aluminium SportYacht to be constructed at Palmer Johnson’s Sturgeon Bay yard was loaded onto a heavy-lift transport vessel recently to be moved to an unknown facility. This represents the final operation for the yard at its Wisconsin-based facility after Palmer Johnson announced in September that it will be closing the doors of its Surgeon Bay yard and move production to the Netherlands.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/156943/image/large-af0125a50903ff190e9f96feef99c6fb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/156943">Since then Palmer Johnson has indicated that production will take place at the facilities of Holland Jachtbouw in the Netherlands. Last PJ170 hull leaves Palmer Johnson

Today, I met up with Palmer Johnson’s Russell Morris, at the 2014 Qatar International Boat Show, to discuss their current projects.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151576/image/large-3b49f8d99e311944ec22a949f89ba1dc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151576">“We are delivering the 48 Supersport next month in Florida”, Russell proudly says, “and hull number 2 is being infused tomorrow in Norway, after which she will be shipped to Sturgeon Bay, to be completed at our US yardWe are also working on a new 42 for a couple of clients, a model that fits the gap between the 35 and 48 models”.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151577/image/large-44ad3ef553531c77e84cf91c7b92ee06.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151577">“At the yard, we are now completing the third 170, which is out for delivery next June, and we have the second 210 under construction”.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151578/image/large-e30467c01a0efaa27fb7c5a920f3ceaf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/149819">"We also started a new line of open fiber boats, a 40 foot, 60 foot, and 88 foot, all based on the trimaran hull design again. I think that line of open boats, are ideal for the region here. They easily fit in the marinas, and the they are the size, which we believe this market is looking for”.Being a first time exhibitor at Qatar, Russell hopes to PJ’s presence will bring brand awareness to the region, “It’s really to meet the local clients here, I think it is developing region and hopefully QIBS is a show we are going to do each year”.By Maarten Janssen

Live from Qatar: Projects underway at Palmer Johnson

Palmer Johnson have signed new contracts for a PJ170 Sportyacht and a PJ48 SuperSport. This will be the third PJ170 and the second PJ48M in these series.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/149050/image/large-b8e0ca29d7aa27a01dbcdb417c7592ad.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/149050">Palmer Johnson is currently delivering its second PJ170 Sportyacht and the first of its highly anticipated new generation PJ48M SuperSport this summer.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/149051/image/large-ca7689a0be0a1fcf57a25ab8d7bb57f2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/149051">Both yachts have top speeds of more than 30 knots, are circa 500GT and 50 metres in length. The PJ170 has the classic and widely acclaimed Sportyacht lines, and is built in aluminium while the revolutionary and futuristic PJ48M is made from the advanced material of carbon.
