Asia Superyacht Rendezvous celebrated it’s fourteenth anniversary last month. Amongst the motor yacht fleet at the event were the 55 metre Samax, superyacht Moon Sand, the 73 metre Titania and the 51 metre Northern Sun. Four sailing yachts also graced the waters of Kata Bay where the event was held, including Si Datu Bua, Yanneke Too, Sunshine and the recently launched Escapade.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152226/image/large-8a71b9ca861f2d90b89bc5419984eec1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152226">Gordon Fernandes of Asia Pacific Superyachts co-organises the Rendezvous with Captain Charles Dwyer. He comments, “The growth in the number of superyachts coming to Asia has been phenomenal, especially over the last three years. Our aim has always been to promote the fun side of yachting so this event offers owners and crew the chance to bond and share their love of yachts in a relaxed environment while making the most of stunning location.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152227/image/large-80fb93aab0f68398606d19d6c100b58a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152227">Kata Rocks resort in Phuket provided the perfect venue for sophisticated celebrations, and on the second evening of this years Rendezvous, played host to the famous Feadship Challenge where teams of owners and crew gather to build model sailboats in 40 minutes which are then put to the test in troughs of water. The crew of Samax were eventually announced the winners after a heated rematch.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152228/image/large-427c35b27c79ed037fd02d20dde99742.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152228">The Gala Dinner took place on the evening of the final day, prepared by Kata Rocks Executive Chef Steve. Gordon Fernandes comments, “With more high-end resort developments like Kata Rocks being built on Phuket, more superyachts are attracted to the island. Owners can party at a Phuket beach club, go diving in the Similan islands or find total peace and seclusion cruising to Myanmar’s Mergui archipelago just up the coast. Fourteenth anniversary of the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous

The Asia Superyacht Rendezvous will be celebrating its 14th year this December 16-18, showcasing some of the most spectacular yachts in the region.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151922/image/large-7fc3adb71c61ed490493ef3ce05a5676.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151922">The largest yacht in this year's fleet is the Lürssen Titania. Presently heading to the warm waters of SE Asia, it is no doubt she will generate a huge amount of excitement within the Asian charter market.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151923/image/large-14565a48a1dacfa2864ee85413e7bf4e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151923">Superyacht Northern Sun will be playing a major role in this year’s Rendezvous as "Start Boat" for the racing events, while classic schooner Sunshine, Phenisi yacht Si Data Bua, the ultra-modern S/Y Escapade among others will sail pass, followed by the motoryachts such as the Feadship Samax, Moon Sand and of course, Titania.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151924/image/large-f9b05074f6e4d9d8fdeeec6f1461867a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151924">An increasing number of superyacht is visiting Asia every year. General Manager of Asia Pacific Superyachts Phuket &amp; Myanmar, Gordon Fernandes points to the many advantages the region has to offer "Owners have been impressed with the Similans and Surin Islands as you can have 20 meter plus water visibility around lovely uninhabited islands. The Asia Superyacht Rendezvous lineup

The first night of the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous has kicked off with a bang. The late afternoon shower threatened to dampen the spirits, however failed dismally. Angsana Laguna spent the day welcoming guests to their magical surroundings, greeting them with great enthusiasm and everyone seemed to be getting rather lost in the atmosphere. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/142143/image/large-14220a9a51c7a4a2f5e188ee5e4de715.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/142143">On the first evening local and international sponsors, media and guests, as well as the captains and owners of all the participating yachts were welcomed to Bang Thao Bay. They then went on to fight the waves and board speedboats to the Indonesian style Phinisi, Silolona for the opening cocktail party. As guests arrived on board Silolona, they were greeted by the enthusiastic crew. Start boat Maverick went out early with the race officials on board and the sail boats all followed. Shamoun, Twizzle, Asia, Yanneke Too, Si Datu Bua and Silolona raced for the win around Bang Thao Bay. All in the name of fun!
