Spotting the sign for <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder Shipyard</a>, I turned the corner and made tracks. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/70057/image/large-a38a78fe2dfc2fbe49094cca5b68a5ff.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/70057">The scene in question which <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a> laid on was of Dick Mulder, long-time Managing Director (son of Dirk Mulder Sr. who established the shipyard in 1938) carefully pouring over the details of a cabinet for one of their in-build vessels on the work floor surrounded by carpenters. But, of course, there was nothing staged about it. As Commercial Director Nick Mulder gave me both the tour and the lowdown on <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder’s</a> build process&nbsp;(“It’s totally in house. We like to be able to build a complete yacht because then you have all the knowledge and if one of our vessels needs direct assistance, we know exactly who to ask and we can act quickly”), it became clear that this family-run business is dedicated to the details, genuine and personable to the core. &nbsp;For the 31-year-old Nick growing up, it would have been impossible not to be involved with boats. “I’ve basically grown up on the shipyard, our house was literally part of the shipyard and it was always what I desired to do,” Nick tells me. “In the Netherlands, you have something called a ‘kermis’, or a travelling fair which moves from village to village and when I wanted to go there as a child I would do some little jobs in the facility like painting to make a few euros. We spent weekends on boats as long as I can remember and I had my own little RIB which I was very keen on and I would use with friends.”&nbsp;&nbsp; <img src="/uploads/store/photo/88505/image/large-b9d83c059cf7892e92ea1393bf1ca57d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/88505"> This early hands-on involvement with the business has continued throughout Nick’s adult life and forms a key component of their <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a> strategy which is geared towards maximising the company’s efficiency. As Nick explains,&nbsp;“Business-wise, we like to be a flat organisation where we can make decisions fairly quickly. When my father is on the workfloor, he can make decisions on the spot, whereas if you are not family-owned then it is much more bureaucratic and you have to go back to the desk and get it approved by an owner’s rep or whoever.”&nbsp;The most major decision made by the family in recent years was the opening of the new shipyard in Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk (ten kilometres from the original yard in Voorschoten) in 2013. &nbsp; With the construction taking place over two years during a time when the yachting market wasn’t exactly booming, this was what Nick describes as “a well-calculated, long term decision”&nbsp;for his father. Prior to the build of the new facility, the Mulders had already relocated their interior and stainless steel departments to alternative sheds located two and 15 kilometres away due to size constraints, so it was a prime time for them to merge the three. In fact, the timing of this major investment actually played in the family’s favour.&nbsp;“Many people were happy if you had work for them, delivery times were short, people really wanted to sell and that was much better for the price and the investment in the end.”&nbsp;Notably, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a> will be bringing the old facility back to full production in the upcoming months to build their range of Favorites and have recently acquired a covered marina to host the vessels for their clients. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/84266/image/large-47e3e6a24779ec4ffd6f4b07bbdc15f5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/84266">Moving to the new facility, the shipyard now has the capability to build yachts between 15 and 45 metres, delivering their first vessel over 30 metres in 2015: the 34-metre fully custom<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5575" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Solis34.0m (111'7&quot;)Mulder Shipyard2015">&nbsp;Solis.</a> She was designed by the British studio <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2546" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Claydon Reeves (Company)">Claydon Reeves,</a> with whom the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder&nbsp;</a>have continued to work on numerous projects including the first-ever Mulder ThirtySix, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6152" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta One36.0m (118'1&quot;)Mulder Shipyard2017">Delta One,</a> delivered in 2017, the exteriors of which were by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2546" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Claydon Reeves (Company)">Claydon Reeves,</a> with interiors by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2546" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Claydon Reeves (Company)">Claydon</a> in collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4540" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Vickers Studio (Company)">Vickers Studio.</a> Homing in on the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a> range, this starts with the 15.6-metre Favorite 1500, the slightly larger Favorite 1700 (17.8 metres), the convertible series which hasn’t been built by the yard since 2012, the wheelhouse series (of which one is currently in production), the 28.65-metre exploration-style Mulder 94 Voyager (a “long-range gentleman’s motor yacht”), the Mulder ThirtySix superyachts and custom projects like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5575" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Solis34.0m (111'7&quot;)Mulder Shipyard2015">Solis.</a><img src="/uploads/store/photo/84267/image/large-50caafa87d776c2c207ad6a398e9e4d4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/84267">Over the past two decades, in a shift which displays a clear growth in confidence over time, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder&nbsp;</a>has moved from building primarily full custom yachts to semi-custom boats.&nbsp;“If you look at our fleet from the early 2000s, all of them were fully custom, because we just built what the client wanted. But what we actually saw was that when my father built a boat for himself, it was a very good boat and many clients were inspired by that. They’d say, ‘you did it like that and we liked it, can we do it the same on our build?’ We are a yachting family and have been on boats all our lives, so we know what people want.” &nbsp; Increasing the efficiency of the build process has been integral to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder’</a>s strategy over the past decade and represents a return to the business model of Dirk Mulder senior, who would build multiple hulls at the same time on stock and sell many of his boats just before delivery. As Nick explains, “Hull production takes up about 50% of the total build time of a yacht and things like the engine room are almost always the same. You can win a lot of time without really semi-customising the boat for colour, fabrics and things that really matter to the owners.” With the hard work already done by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a>, potential owners can have their brand new superyacht ready to hit the water after only a few months. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/88497/image/large-39f927439ca7c6815c7a7aa4fa7b3c0e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/88497">Of course, this model also has its advantages for the shipyard too, as long as they have the finances to support it. “When you’re building boats on spec or at least starting the hull production then you’re much more efficient and in control of your planning and this is something we are extremely strong in. You need capital for it, but as long as that it well-arranged then you can deliver very high-quality yachts within a reasonable time-scale.” &nbsp;Interestingly, according to Nick, the two most popular<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">&nbsp;Mulder&nbsp;</a>models serve as bookends for their range: the Favorite 1500 and the Mulder ThirtySix. The renewed Mulder Favorite line was developed in 2008 by Dick Mulder as a tribute to the Favorite cruisers built by Dirk Mulder Sr since 1955, with the first relaunched 1500 designed for the family’s private use. Since then, the classic vessel has proven to be immensely popular - particularly for use in the inland waters of the Netherlands - and the yard has sold more than 20 units since the series’ revival. However, although keeping their marketing relatively local remains a priority for the shipyard (“We invest heavily in Dutch marketing and in all the magazines here in Holland. Holland, Germany, England and Western Europe, in general, are very important markets to us”),&nbsp;the boats themselves are going worldwide. &nbsp; &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/24411/image/large-fe64b6af0cac2d0d202fa0fc99281f69.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/24411">At the top end of their size range, the Mulder ThirtySix boats <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6152" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta One36.0m (118'1&quot;)Mulder Shipyard2017">Delta One</a> and the recently delivered <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6172" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Calypso36.0m (118'1&quot;)Mulder Shipyard2019">Calypso</a> have been gaining plenty of attention in the industry, with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6152" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta One36.0m (118'1&quot;)Mulder Shipyard2017">Delta One</a> coming home with a win at the World Superyacht Awards in 2018 and the reaction to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6172" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Calypso36.0m (118'1&quot;)Mulder Shipyard2019">Calypso&nbsp;</a>at this year’s MYBA Charter show described as&nbsp;“completely crazy” by Nick. As he explains, there is a lot to admire in the ThirtySix, “it has an intelligent layout, masculine design and the fuel economy is just amazing. It’s a superyacht with all the facilities you could need but it’s still very human-sized, with no void spaces on board. When people stepped on board at MYBA and came into the VIP, which is full beam and on the lower deck, everybody just said: ‘wow!’” &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/70054/image/large-9a3d13420fc0357a1368c5627a403573.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/70054"><img src="/uploads/store/photo/84264/image/large-eff6301da35a5b08b1671ad944d296ec.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/84264">Indeed, although <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a> is maintaining its efforts on marketing in Europe, the Dutch shipyard is gaining attention from markets further afield without even trying. “We have seen a big increase from the US and have been speaking to quite a few American potential clients over the last few months which is interesting because we don’t do any marketing there.”&nbsp;The reason? It could well be down to the ThirtySix: with her eight-metre beam and draught of just over two metres, she is a boat which would be well suited to cruising in the Caribbean and the Miami area. These budding possibilities abroad do not mean, however, that the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a> family are tempted to upsize their boats or drastically change strategy.&nbsp;“Our market segment is now from 15-40 metres, that’s a pretty wide area. We get a lot of requests for that size and we see that, as many owners are getting older, or their families are changing, or they are relocating, they still like boats but they don’t need their big boat with the big crew anymore. They still like to have very high-quality yachts, but they enjoy the fact that they can drive the boat themselves.” &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/84263/image/large-f127ec8256d26c1fd1a73fcfb9475c3c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/84263"> In terms of the number of yachts delivered, most <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a> yachts are under 24 metres and, as far as Commercial Director Nick sees it, this will always remain one of the main drivers for the company.&nbsp;“It is a specific choice for us. When you’re only building bigger boats with a bigger budget, it is very easy to get lazy; when you’re building smaller yachts with smaller budgets you need to keep triggering your organisation to stay efficient, to stay innovative and really focus on the things that are important without overinvesting in any kind of discipline. From the moment we had the capacity, we did get questions about building bigger boats, but we like to take small steps because then you keep control of what you’re doing and this is immensely important. We all know the stories of small shipyards building a 50-metre and then having trouble finishing the boat.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/293" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Mulder Shipyard (Company)">Mulder</a>&nbsp;is a long-term focused organisation so we’re not in a hurry.” &nbsp; <img src="/uploads/store/photo/84258/image/large-703aa07ba9d9cd7b0b5d84c381cf2d3a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/84258">As for the future, the yard has a new 22-metre vessel in development and a third ThirtySix currently in build and set to be completed next spring, currently known as Project Mana. That said, however, there are plans in the pipeline to build slightly bigger superyachts in the future. As Nick explains,&nbsp;“We are currently working on a bigger sister from our 36-metre at this moment. I think if it’s fast, it will be 2023 when she will be in the water, but it could be a year or two years later.” &nbsp;Coming full circle, what does it mean to Nick to be part of this three-generational family business today?&nbsp;“I’ve thought a lot about that question and there are so many different ways to answer it, but the most important one is that our family name is always on the side of the boat. We stand behind our product and want to deliver quality. We only deliver 4 or 5 boats annually, and if you would scale up to 8-10 boats then could you lose track of what’s happening. Mulder Shipyard has announced the sale of the latest Mulder ThirtySix superyacht currently in-build at the yard's facilities in the Netherlands. The 36-metre BN110 will be christened Calypso upon delivery early next year.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/48661/image/large-e9cbf289a60bebea5724119503450913.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/48661">Coming in at just under the 300-GT mark, Calypso follows her two sisterships <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5575" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Solis34.0m (111'7&quot;)">Solis</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6152" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta One36.0m (118'1&quot;)">Delta One</a>, delivered in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Mulder Shipyard sells 36m in-build superyacht Calypso

Claydon Reeves is probably run by the most down to earth guys in the business. Founded by James Claydon and Mike Reeves in 2010 after a largely automotive design education followed by positions in some of Britain’s most prestigious yacht design firms, they are the first to admit that as the (relative) new kids on the block, the world of superyacht design has been an intensely competitive one to enter. With true passion for intelligent, innovative design, however, combined with a tangible faith in the quality of their own work, they’re making their mark. With three superyachts currently in the water bearing their credentials, and another on the way for delivery later this year, it seems inevitable that the nice guys will not, indeed, finish last. We caught up with Reeves in Monaco this year on board Delta One, who shone some light on the passion that powers the duo that is Claydon Reeves. &nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/24410/image/large-a009bc12b6e916273589923d08aea697.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/24410"> Mike and James at SuperYacht Gallery 2017SYT:With the studio established seven years ago, tell us about the journey to Claydon Reeves.&nbsp;James and I met when we were both working at RWD, where James was largely heading up the exterior design department. Now, 2010 was probably about the worst time to start a yacht design company… but that’s when we had the great idea to start a yacht design company! We started a rather tumultuous few years where we pumped out concept work. It was this itch we had to scratch; we didn’t have a boat, we wanted to get a job, and it gave us a truly unique portfolio.&nbsp;SYT:After concentrating on establishing your name and creating your back-catalogue, what was the outcome?&nbsp;Well, we signed our first project &nbsp;- an interior on board a big sailing yacht - but I can’t tell you anything about it at all, sadly. The first real eureka moment for us was Solis built at Mulder. It was a new client coming into the new build custom yacht world, a shipyard who was stepping up massively from what they had previously done, and then us, stepping up from relative obscurity. It was the perfect storm and we won the World Superyacht Awards with her in 2016. That ultimately led to our latest project, the 36-metre Delta One. Solis came in at about 315 tonnes at 34-metres, and Delta One comes in at just under 300 tonnes. Another is also under construction for delivery in 2018.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/24411/image/large-fe64b6af0cac2d0d202fa0fc99281f69.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/24411"> The Mulder built Delta One SYT:Do you prefer to work on the smaller side of the spectrum?Interestingly in our careers we’ve been involved with a lot of large boats, but this size of boat is becoming more and more relevant. They are still boats; they’re not an apartment block. The connection to the sea is really evident when you’re on board. Now, you have to be really clever to set that apart from what has come before, and you have to search those little tricks to deliver something really different. On this one we have a transverse tender dock, so you get a six metre tender and a couple of jet skis in there, you get a beach club, full beam master forward, four cabins below deck, just six crew… it’s a tightly wrapped package! We like the big boats, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a real challenge with the smaller boats and we love that.&nbsp;SYT:Do you see yourself doing more of those larger projects?I hope so! We did a proposal for a 110-metre with Nobiskrug called Radiance, and it had a lot of the DNA we put into our boats. This one line sheer creating a graceful connection between bow and stern, interesting surfacing… a lot of boats now ultimately all look the same. There’s not a lot of snap to them. You need something that is intriguing, so for us, it’s this one line sheer with the concave surface above, and you get this pooling of light when it hits the hull. Our obsession with light is something that has come from our automotive background.SYT:Another sizable concept is the 90m Linea with Fincantieri. Tell us about that project.&nbsp;This came about from a meeting with Fincantieri a few years ago.&nbsp;Linea has the beauty of Italian design, the connectivity of the lines, but then a surprising sun deck sculpture on the top. It sort of straddles it like a spider, and it’s much more architectural than a usual mast - we turned it into something that crowns the boat. We also included a lot of folding balconies which we see often, but these are of an unprecedented scale. There is even one on the sundeck - I mean, why not? It’s totally feasible. There’s a little twist of playful joy in Italian design which we incorporated into the concept. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/24413/image/large-f98d6c0b90c74e9e5c0601d332cbedfd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/24413">SYT:How difficult is it to really create something unique in terms of design?You can innovate in design terms by literally drawing something different, which is pretty simple… you just unhook yourself from the common thinking about yacht design. I think people are waking up to the idea that boats do not have to look the same as every other boat. If you get a client and a designer who click, these are the great moments where people redefine what is possible. Maltese Falcon, Venus… they’re game changers.&nbsp;SYT:How exactly do they change the game?I think these designs show people that it doesn’t have to be a certain way all the time. They open people’s eyes and let people know they can have their own little snowflake. This is why design innovation is important. Until people see it built and realised - like Jubilee or A - they just don’t want to do it.&nbsp;SYT:Should the superyacht industry invest more in R&amp;D?&nbsp;I think that as much as it’s necessary, people do invest in R&amp;D in this industry. The automotive industry has to invest in technological innovation because products and safety are constantly changing. Within yachts, they get a bit more efficient, a bit more effective: relatively small, incremental changes. Yachts are usually a one-off, so there isn’t as strong a need for that real boundary-pushing Tesla moment, where someone upsets the whole thing by introducing something so transformative to the industry. We can make smaller changes, and you can really innovate through design.&nbsp;SYT:Which Claydon Reeves projects are particularly unique in their design?Well, one of our main projects is the Aeroboat S6 powered by Rolls-Royce, which we created for our new brand Aeroboat. This is perhaps all of the things we’ve talked about in terms of innovation. It’s the ultimate 65’ day boat for the 21st century. People who own even the largest yachts also quite like day boats. They can be owner operated and if you just want to go out with your friends for a day, you don’t necessarily need your big yacht. The idea we’re pursuing is so far above the current standard.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/24412/image/large-9cd0a089a53656a2ba4cf7adc5d87258.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/24412"> Aeroboat S6's Aerostairs platform fully deployed SYT:How so?Firstly, we’ve managed to incorporate Rolls-Royce engines, transmissions and waterjets, into this boat. So we can officially market the boat as powered by Rolls-Royce, with the iconic double Rs on the boat itself, which is pretty special. We’ve raised the bar and hopefully, it will move the design language on and demonstrate that boats can be shapely, they can have sculptural spaces rather than just big spaces. Boats at 65’ are not usually made with this level of functionality or this degree of quality.&nbsp;A big part of the Aeroboat S6 has centred in the thinking that it’s lovely to come into a harbour on a beautiful boat, but when that tiny passerelle unfolds and everyone’s hanging on for dear life, it looks terrifying. On the Aeroboat S6, we have an incredibly intricate, very solid passerelle that unfolds, links up with a folding staircase, and gives you a very elegant transition off the boat.&nbsp;SYT:When will we see one hit the water?Summer 2019. It will form part of a bigger range, always with Rolls-Royce products in them. Currently, we have two V10 engines producing around 3,000 hp which equates to 48 knots which is faster than anything in its class, and we go up in size from that, offering something unique every time. Powered by passion: a closer look at Claydon Reeves

Less than a month after her launch at Mulder Shipyard in the Netherlands, the 36-metre superyacht Delta One has made her way to the Mediterranean Sea following brief but highly intensive sea trials off the Dutch coast. The Mulder flagship is the first in its ThirtySix range of which another unit is already under construction.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/166415/image/large-b06b8c04e4ae3970d85a4b088023a78c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/166415">The project involved naval architects Van Oossanen, exterior designers Claydon Reeves and interior designers Vickers Studio. Delta One is the yard’s second superyacht project and Claydon Reeves were once again approached for their design skills to create a recognisably Mulder-like profile as they have done on the 34-metre Solis which was delivered in 2015.“It’s been a pleasure to team up with Mulder Shipyard once again for the build of Delta One,” explains Claydon Reeves partner James Claydon. “This 36m is another example of a design that delivers a fully optimised interior with accommodation that is greater than you’d expect for her size. We are truly delighted by the results on Delta One.”<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/166416/image/large-db183d1cea79a4fe15b2a926a43f0578.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/166416">Claydon Reeves worked with fellow British designer John Vickers of Vickers Studio on the interior who was responsible for the styling on board Delta One. Plenty of natural light illuminates the interior through the full-height side windows, fold-down balcony and low bulwarks on the main deck. 10 guests can be accommodated throughout the yacht in five staterooms of which four are guests suites on the lower deck.The full-beam arrangement in the forward part of the ship has presented the opportunity to create a large flush deck foredeck area where a private seating area is fitted. Another exterior highlight is the large sundeck area with its oversized sunpads, Jacuzzi and family-friendly dining area.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/166417/image/large-34bce1442e3a9998ed255671fbc62c30.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/166417">To ensure efficiency, Van Oossanen Naval Architects’ Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) was again selected as the building blocks of the project and is the reason for Delta One’s impressive running figures. Mulder and Claydon Reeves comment on Delta One delivery

Mulder Shipyard has been hard at work the last few days following the launch of their flagship vessel, the 36-metre project BN 105 named Delta One, as the yacht has been put to the test last week during sea trials off the Dutch town of Scheveningen. The all-aluminium project was signed last year and Mulder announced earlier in 2017 that is already building the second unit in this range, hull number BN 110.

As with the 34-metre Solis, Delta One is another collaboration between Mulder Shipyard and British design studio Claydon Reeves together with Van Oossanen Naval Architects who implemented their Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) for a comfortable and efficient ride out at sea.

The full beam interior, also designed by Claydon Reeves, accommodates up to 10 guests in five staterooms.

First Mulder ThirtySix superyacht Delta One launched

Since the signing of their largest superyacht to date early this year, Mulder Shipyard have rapidly progressed with the construction of the 36 metre project BN 105. The completed hull and superstructure is being moved today through the Dutch countryside to reach Mulder’s facility in Zoeterwoude where the vessel will be completed. BN 105 is expected to be ready for cruising in the summer of 2017.

Following the successful deliveries of the first Mulder 94 Voyager Fireflyand the 34 metre superyacht Solis last year, the yard feels their new project is a natural progression of their abilities and proves their intent as a serious contender in the custom yacht building market. The yacht is based on a patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) designed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, with the yard working together with British design studio Claydon Reeves who has continued a somewhat familiar exterior design in their second ever project with Mulder Shipyard. As with Solis, International Yacht Register will be representing the owners throughout the build.

Pictured here side by side in Gibraltar are the two superyachts Solis and Unbridled. Mulder's 34 metre superyacht Solis was been launched in 2015 and became the largest vessel in their fleet. She recently walked away with a Neptune trophy for best displacement motor yacht below 500 GT. The first superyacht in the Custom Thirty Four line has been designed by the British studio Claydon Reeves and features naval architectures by Van Oosaanen Naval Architects. Solis accommodates eight guests in two VIP and two double cabins which are convertible into twin cabins as well as a crew of seven. The impressive US built 58.2m tri-deck superyacht Unbridled was launched by Trinity Yachts in 2009. With an interior design by Patrick Knowles, she accommodates up to 12 guests in five private cabins. Unbridled’s large deck areas and her huge capacity enable her to carry a big range of watertoys.

Dutch yacht builder Mulder Shipyard has started construction on what will become their largest yacht to date; the 36 metre project BN 105. Following the successful deliveries of the first Mulder 94 Voyager Firefly and the 34 metre superyacht Solis last year, the yard feels their new project is a natural progression of their abilities and proves their intent as a serious contender in the custom yacht building market.

The yacht is based on a patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) designed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, with the yard working together with British design studio Claydon Reeves who has continued a somewhat familiar exterior design in their second ever project with Mulder Shipyard. “The basic concept behind this exciting new yacht is to make the most out of a volume not exceeding 300 GT,” explains yard director Dick Mulder. “This will open up excellent possibilities for both private use and chartering, with the possibility of having a relatively small crew when the owners are onboard.”

Some of the features packed into the 36 metre yacht is a Williams Diesljet 625 tender along with two Jet Ski’s, a large outdoor pool and an abundance of sunbathing areas. The RINA MCA LY3 classed yacht will not only be suited for leisurely cruises from Monaco to St. Tropez, but her transatlantic range makes destinations beyond the reach of other yachts in this size range a possibility.

“We enjoyed working closely with Mulder Shipyard during the fast-paced design and build development of Solis,” says Mike Reeves from Claydon Reeves Design. “We share similar values and aim to achieve a high-quality, authentic product. As a result, the new 36-metre yacht will be practical, finely detailed and have a wide appeal.”

Mulder Shipyards signs largest project to date

In today’s fast-paced rat race there is a saying that names time as the ultimate luxury. If this is in fact the truth, it would seem that the owning family of the new 34 metre Mulder superyacht Solis will be spending considerably more of this valuable commodity on their new home away from home. SYT was invited on board to learn more about the concept behind the ray of sunlight known as Solis.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158031/image/large-8763babe31287e5c1aa91167802c2763.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158031">Founded in 1938, Dutch shipyard Mulder’s strengths and focusses have become synonymous with a classic and unmistakable typical Dutch style of yachts. When Solis was launched in 2015, Mulder proved that they are ready to explore a more contemporary approach to the future of their line of yachts, all the while retaining those family values and handcrafted sense of construction that the yard has come to be known for. Their largest yacht to date goes beyond measure in confirming not only their ability in building ever larger yachts, but their commitment to delivering a custom product that is driven by their passion for all things yachts.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158032/image/large-bb291c3e3b26c6381cbd918a53c538db.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158032">BN100 as Solis was known during her build stages, was the first project that Mulder on worked together with British design studio Claydon Reeves. James Claydon and Mike Reeves managed to flawlessly blend together the desires and requests from the owners with a recognisable Mulder profile into a never-before-seen classic contemporary styled superyacht. Working together with project manager, IYR CEO, and former megayacht captain Stephen White, Mulder delivered Solis to her owners on schedule, in budget and to a level far above specified by class specifications.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158033/image/large-ca06eca706366729cd1927a50cfe618d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158033">The owning family made it very clear from the beginning that they were not interested in an excessively large yacht. Instead, their lifestyle and requirements are better suited to the more manageable spaces that Solis offers. The layout conceived by Claydon Reeves ensures that guests will be able to stay interacted while on board, without experiencing the feeling of confinement, so often seen on yachts of this size. Wide and open deck spaces, good visibility from one guest area to another, and an overall sense of flow throughout the yacht all contributes to the family-friendly vision the owners wanted to achieve.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158034/image/large-a4b8b96bd89635ae75e684d141abdc39.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158034">The sundeck area is divided into two areas, each serving its own purpose. A raised area forward provides an excellent view forward over the bow and on either side of the yacht. This space – which houses a comfortable half-moon dining area – is completely shaded under a large hard top canopy without interfering with the overall profile. The base supports for the structure forms a gap that provides a uninterrupted view from in board, and has been turned into a recognisable feature while admiring the yacht from outside.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158035/image/large-79aad36c69a2a7c4bd3cb58d1981288a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158035">The aft section is where the on board Jacuzzi is located, fitted with a semi wet bar. The area is neatly rounded off with a stainless railing and wooden capping rail. A raised sun bed platform not only provides the ideal sun bathing spot on the yacht, but cleverly opens up to reveal the SOLAS MOB craft.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158036/image/large-d25c464f539661261d8aeb0e8cb43493.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158036">A concealed staircase leads one down nearly amidships on the starboard side main deck. Here one can appreciate one of the many superyacht features on board, commonly found only on much larger yachts. The wide walk-around side decks, solid capping rails, full height windows and dual tone paint accents all reminds one of a vessel not very dissimilar to a 40m+ yacht, but speaks more about the Mulder build quality stamp than the size of the yacht.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158037/image/large-b163f4afa8c89327037f68f81479ed08.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158037">The transparent approach to Solis’ layout and guest use is continued on the aft deck. With the sliding doors on each side of the main salon opened, it is perhaps only the feeling of the sun on one’s skin that will be the difference between the indoor and outdoor areas. A single piece of curved glass acts as the transom where the yacht’s name is also displayed. And considering all the unique elements and amenities in this cabin, you might yet come to the same conclusion. It is in fact the VIP cabin, and because of the walk-around main deck, doesn’t have a full beam width as one might be used to on a yacht of this size. Claydon Reeves made use of the stability provided by this part of the ship, along with the full width of Solis’ beam available down here. A smart use of white leather and fabrics paired with a strategic use of lighting makes this as bright a cabin as the VIP one deck above.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/158049/image/large-ece82b44870b3a1ddf7a7d39928b1f64.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/158049">To keep with the yacht’s relaxed and toned-down atmosphere, Solis has been fitted with 2 x Caterpillar C18 engines, each with 500kW of power. Even though these particular engines mean a slower top speed, the benefits gained from this propulsion package include more accessible space in the engine room as the engines are smaller, as well as reduced noise and vibration levels in key guest areas. Dutch shipyard Mulder have launched their largest yacht to date, the 34m Solis. Mulder launches 34m superyacht Solis

Mulder Shipyard has recently introduced a new superyacht concept to the industry in the form of the Mulder 2800 Raised Pilot House - Full Beam. Measuring 28 metres in length, the all-aluminium vessel features naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, whilst Frank Laupman of Omega Architects designed the interior and exterior. Amongst her characteristics are low runnings costs, ease of operation, as well as being suitable for both families as well as chartering.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/153277/image/large-810df9c13bf14ae175bd590dbf027a4b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/153277">On board, she accommodates up to ten guests as well as a crew of three, with the brand stating that there are opportunities for alternative layouts. The Raised Pilot House feature means that the wheelhouse is raised to a higher position on the vessel, giving the captain a better overview and allowing other valuable options regarding layout and usability in the interior.In this design, the “Full Beam” aspect relates to the saloon area having side decks, with the master suite located forward on the main deck utilising the whole beam of the boat. This design feature means that the feeling of privacy when in the master suite is substantially improved, as well as providing spectacular views.In addition, the aft deck dining is another notable feature, with a flush open deck floor plan of over 10 metres in total. Located outdoors with a sundeck roof, this area is perfect for enjoying a sophisticated al fresco dining experience while taking in uninterrupted views.Performance wise, she has an economic cruising speed of 12 knots. Although there are no exterior renderings currently available of the new model, we can confirm that the Dutch yard is currently working on their inaugural Raised Pilot House yacht, the Mulder 34 metre BN100.By Gemma Fottles

Mulder introduces the Mulder 2800 RPH concept

The 24th July saw the hull and superstructure of the Mulder 34 metre motoryacht BN 100 successfully joined together in the shipyard facility in Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk, the Netherlands. The plumb bow runs aft with a gently stepped shear. The aluminium superstructure blends subtle lines with flush glass, rising gently towards the stern. She will accommodate up to eight guests over two VIP staterooms and a further two double cabins that can convert to twins - all with en-suite facilities - as well as providing accommodation for up to seven crew.The interior welcomes you on the main deck aft with the main saloon enclosed by full height opening glass panels. On both sides of the dining room there is full height glass, maximising the natural light inside. In order to add a further 50% of external space to the dining room, the glass windows on the starboard side can open leading to a balcony folding down from the bulwark.The construction progress of the vessel is on schedule and she is expected to be delivered to her owner in the Summer of 2015.By Gemma Fottles

Mulder Shipyard have announced that the construction of the Mulder 34 metre motoryacht is progressing well and fully on schedule.The hull and superstructure of the largest Mulder built to date are expected to be delivered at the company’s new shipyard in Zoeterwoude in the Netherlands late July 2014. Mulder superyacht BN100 well underway

Mulder Shipyard has announced that they have signed an agreement to build a 34 metre motoryacht. This will be Mulder’s largest yacht built so far and also their first yacht over 300 GT. With this order, the total number of Mulder yachts under construction raised to seven. The VIPs offer two distinct environments, one being full beam on the lower deck with large portholes and an outlook close to the water’s surface. The other VIP cabin forward on the main deck features a large window directly above the bed to give you a wonderful view of the stars at night.
