Celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, the team at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater Yachting</a> know what it takes to run and manage a successful charter and brokerage business. SuperYacht Times’ Francesca Webster chats to Peter Bennett, the founder of the international company, to find out the secret behind their success, and to discover his keys to enjoyable superyacht ownership – some of which you might not expect.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/103790/image/large-dc413f2f4ddd7912afdb87ec95b6b6cc.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/103790">In 1991, in his mid-twenties and fresh from eight years as a lieutenant navigator in the British Royal Navy, Peter Bennett brought something of a new approach to the industry, founding <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a> in Antibes as a crew agency. It was his aim from the outset to introduce naval level training to the luxury yachting industry, to raise the level of qualifications among yacht crews and up the standard of training. Through the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6332" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Yachting Association (Company)">Royal Yachting Association</a>, Peter had <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a> established as a teaching centre, and the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6332" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Royal Yachting Association (Company)">RYA</a> agreed to incorporate Merchant Navy training into their MCA qualifications. In Bennett’s own words, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a> “became pioneers of the MCA commercial ticket that we see in the yachting industry today.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195943/image/large-35ab6d4cad95cc0f83628bbc2d605d45.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195943">It wasn’t long before <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a>’s success in Antibes led to their expansion into Palma, now more than 20 years ago. Today they are truly international, with offices in Antibes, Monaco, Palma, Hong Kong, Fort Lauderdale, Moscow and Switzerland. Gradually, as the business expanded, so did their remit, and it was Peter’s vision to create an all-encompassing company, to service all of their clients needs. “My motto and whole goal was ‘one company, one complete service’, and we are the only company in the superyacht industry that does everything seamlessly. We cover crew, crew training, vessel management, charter and sales. We are absolutely unique in that – there are other firms who have used that tagline, but it truthfully only applies to <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a>.” Though they do not touch logistical supplies, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a> are experts in those five areas, working to professionalise the entire industry through the MCA ticketing programme, and as Bennett adds, “we are good at it!”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/90345/image/large-66c0757d9e505dc62f1065965a77f4c7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/90345">Discussing the development in the industry since the foundation of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a>, Peter notes that, compared to 30 years ago, a lot has changed. Yachting when he started out was more cavalier and less professional, but today with larger yachts and higher risk profiles, owners can not afford to be blasé with their crew or management. This modernisation has also come with better standards of crew care, something that Peter holds high on the list of important factors for enjoyable yacht ownership – something we come back to later.When discussing yacht brokerage, Bennett shares how he is personally involved with each and every client that approaches the company looking to purchase a new yacht. This hands-on approach is a major factor in their success as yacht brokers, because it allows him to find a compatible broker for each client. He knows first hand that every potential buyer wants to speak their own language, one of the reasons his team are all multi-lingual, but that they also need to be paired with a broker who matches their requirements, “I evaluate our clients and allocate them to a broker inside <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a> that I think is a perfect fit to their needs, whether it's language or experience or youth, or where they want to operate, where they want to charter, where they want to buy the boat. Basically, it's quite a lot of work on my side, but it works fantastically for the client and the team.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/50617/image/large-f20e30aea8f1109bf9e99376a83d5b6e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/50617">Though Peter shares some stories of why this personalised service is so important to the company, they cannot be divulged here, but they imbue a sense that he really knows the industry and the needs of every buyer, inside out. When asked if one yacht sale particularly stood out from the crowd, the beautiful 68-metre superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/448" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Icon67.5m (221'5&quot;)ICON Yachts2009">Icon</a>, which was built by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/429" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ICON Yachts (Company)">Icon Yachts</a> in 2010 and sold by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a> following a refit and extension by the yard in 2014, who at that time still owned her. Following her sale in 2017, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a> have exclusively chartered the yacht with great success, offering accommodation for as many as 12 guests, taken care of by a crew of 17.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195941/image/large-61a2acc00454fdc7da3f7c65c40787ad.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195941">As for the future, Peter sees bright things ahead for the superyacht industry. With many companies having cut back during the pandemic, those who have survived are raring to be inundated with orders as the world reopens. It isn't just new builds that he predicts will be booming in the coming months, “Worldwide the charter industry is going to really kick off, people have been pent up for so long and now they want to get away. You won't be able to book a holiday, all the yachts that want to charter will be chartering, maybe not this year but definitely next year. I recommend that if you want to charter in 2022, book early to avoid disappointment!”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195940/image/large-715092233744ca6727a57c8c986ca426.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195940">That brings Bennett onto one of the subjects he is most passionate about – crew and crew management. “The other thing I would say is that the industry needs a lot of crew. Covid-19 really has been a nightmare for young people, a report in Germany suggested that 70% of young people believe their career prospects have been seriously impacted by this pandemic, but I believe crewing is a great option. Our industry will bounce back faster than many traditional industries, and I think many people will be looking to yachting to sustain them while the cities return to normal.” With many yachts having been laid up for long periods over the last year, many vessels have lost experienced and integral crew, meaning there needs to be an injection of crew into the industry to meet the upcoming demand. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a>’s training programme is a great place to start for young people looking to enter the industry, and their management team aim to ensure that the correct crew are placed aboard every yacht.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195942/image/large-60b80b6716cd637a2bb5dc6f3f153df0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195942">Finally, I asked Peter what advice he would give to a first-time superyacht owner, and his response was somewhat unexpected: “They need to find a company which has a good base in crew management and yacht management, and they need to discuss with that company how to manage a boat, how to be cost effective, and what restrictions and regulations need to be followed.” The point Peter emphasises the most, however, is the importance of understanding your crew, “You need to understand how crew work, how the MCA contracts work, crew rights, how they need to be accommodated, and what you can get from them, if you understand those elements, finding the yacht is easy – I bet you don’t hear that answer very often!”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/195944/image/large-fb237d3143f8c735cd548fa58b23a0d4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/195944">As Peter notes, most brokers will focus on the asset, but at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a>, there is a real impetus toward the importance of crew management, because it is his opinion that crew are what make or break successful yacht ownership. “A lot of owners give up on yacht ownership because they get fed up with crew management and regulations, it can take the joy out of the experience to be tied up in red tape, so it is a really important factor for any owner.” What is clear is that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/336" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Bluewater Yachting (Company)">Bluewater</a>’s unique understanding of the superyacht industry gives them a special edge, and with their founder predicting an upcoming boom, they are ready and raring to go.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/9142/image/large-4b31c2786c2e5dd9d5a83742eabf6f31.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/9142">

In addition, Sergei Dobroserdov is also the driving force behind the new Dynamiq range of fast motor yachts of which<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5658" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Spring 38.6m (126'8&quot;)">&nbsp;Jetsetter</a> is the first hull.Her classy interiors showcase exotic natural woods, fine Italian marble, selected pieces from the Trussardi Casa furniture collection, and other luxurious accessories. On board, she accommodates up to eight guests and six crewmembers and boasts a top speed of 21 knots, a cruising speed of 19 knots and a range of 3000 nautical miles. She is also RINA classed and LY3 compliant.As for her standout features, these include a vast sundeck with wet bar, Jacuzzi hot tub, al-fresco dining area and onboard gym. Having only ever served as a demonstration vessel prior to her sale,<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5658" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Spring 38.6m (126'8&quot;)">&nbsp;Jetsetter&nbsp;</a>can effectively be seen as a new yacht, with yard warranties in place until August this year.&nbsp;Asking €10,900,000 at the time of her sale, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5658" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Spring 38.6m (126'8&quot;)">Jetsetter&nbsp;</a>will be renamed <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5658" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Spring 38.6m (126'8&quot;)">Spring&nbsp;</a>and will cruise around the Mediterranean this summer.

Jetsetter is the first yacht built by Monegasque brand Dynamiq who introduced their range of Gran Turismo yachts with this D4 model in 2016. &nbsp;Dobroserdov Design is behind the edgy exterior of the yacht while Bannenberg &amp; Rowell from London took on the interior design of the project. For speed and efficiency, Jetsetter is built entirely out of aluminium, allowing her to cruise at 19 knots. In 2017, Dynamiq launched a second, smaller yacht of 35 metres; the Dynamiq GTT 115.

Superyacht Jetsetter anchored off Monaco

Dynamiq is currently hard at work on its second new build superyacht project at their dedicated shipyard in Viareggio, Italy. Following the launch of the 39-metre Jetsetter last year, the Monaco-based brand is making good progress on the build of the first GTT 115 project with the hull and superstructure now complete.

Dynamiq CEO, Sergei Dobroserdov hosted Pierre Casiraghi, a member of the Monegasque royal family, and Bernard d’Alessandri, Secretary General of the Monaco Yacht Club, at the construction ceremony of the project.

Austrian design office Studio F.A. Porsche is behind the interior and exterior design of the project with Vripack having been charged with naval architecture development of the yacht. Dynamiq reports that mechanical outfitting and exterior fairing is now underway and the project is on schedule for delivery in September 2017.

In build: Dynamiq’s new GTT 115 superyacht

By offering clients a fully developed and designed turnkey package, the world of semi-custom yacht building and ownership has just been stepped up a notch. With their first D4 superyacht project, the 39-metre Jetsetter, Dynamiq gathered top industry players to jointly create and execute the perfect yacht for its target market. We stepped onboard this Gran Turismo model of the seas to experience the level of luxury first hand.

Luxury, comfort, functionality and autonomy; these key aspects were identified by Dynamiq from the very beginning of the project as focus points to perfect. Offering all of this in a transparent and no-fuss package was sure to be a challenge, but when achieved, would be the ultimate dealmaker. "Dynamiq’s goal is it to bring the highest quality standards and technology of 60-70 metre megayachts to the 30-40 metre segment,” explains Dynamiq’s founder and CEO, Sergei Dobroserdov.

Every possible superyacht-friendly cruising ground has been taken in account when designing this modern GT model. Her shallow draft of 1.75-metres will make cruising the Bahamas a breeze and crossing back over the Atlantic is no problem either with a range of 3,000 nm on hand. The fast displacement hull developed by Azure and Van Oossanen Naval Architects not only offer supreme comfort between islands, but can tackle short Riviera trips or cruises in Hong Kong Bay with an impressive top speed of 21 knots.

Exterior areas offer guests all the required necessities while keeping spaces open, flowing and easy to customise according to any number of uses. Outdoor workouts, hosting large groups of family and friends, or simply relaxing the summer away is all in a day’s work for Jetsetter.

Dynamiq broke ground with their interactive configurator where clients can customise virtually any element of their yacht, from technical equipment to interior fittings. Acclaimed design office Bannenberg &amp; Rowell is behind the interior of Jetsetter. The studio brought their fun and eclectic touches for which they are known for, out to play in guest areas that resemble a high-life penthouse apartment rather than your conventional ‘yacht’ feel.

Top brands such as Hermès, Loro Piana and Trussardi have been seamlessly incorporated to enhance the premium feel of the yacht in an organic way without having these elements feel as optional extras.

All guest accommodation has been moved below to the lower deck, leaving the main deck open for entertaining, crew operations, and navigation. The master suite is placed aft on the accommodation deck, with twin cabins amidships separating the the double suites forward.

After making a splash at the recent Monaco Yacht Show, Jetsetter will be on display at the Miami International Boat in February 2017. Jetsetter is listed for sale with Burgess at €14,545,000 and available for immediate delivery.

Superyacht of the Week: Dynamiq’s trendy Jetsetter

The much anticipated first 39-metre superyacht in Dynamiq’s new D4 series was recently launched. M/Y Jetsetter, as she was christened during her launch in Marina di Carrara in Italy, is the vision of Sergei Dobroserdov whose aim was to create a modern ‘Grand-Touring’ superyacht that could offer a powerful, efficient, and comfortable experience at sea.

The two Dutch underwater specialists, Azure and Van Oossanen Naval Architects developed and optimised the slender and efficient hull on which Jetsetter is based. By fitting the yacht with twin Fortjes propulsion pods, Jetsetter offers a top speed of 21 knots with a cruising range of 3,000nm. To ensure a smooth experience while underway and at anchor, electrically driven CMC stabilisers are fitted to keep Jetsetter in shape no matter the conditions.

The experienced designed team at Bannenberg &amp; Rowell were called upon to create a stylish and sophisticated interior. Eight guests are welcomed across four luxurious staterooms and generous living areas that have been fitted with loose furniture for easy customisation of spaces. Decorative touches are by Trussardi Casa.

Listed for sale at €14,500,000 through IYC broker Scott Jones, Jetsetter is scheduled to be displayed at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show where she will be available for viewings.

Launched: first Dynamiq D4 series superyacht Jetsetter revealed

Last week, we published news about the new superyacht brand Dynamiq, developed by Sergey Dobroserdov. Today, we can show you these exclusive new images of Dynamiq's first yacht, which is well underway at the NCA shipyard in Carrara, Italy. Exclusive new images of first Dynamiq superyacht

Nakhimov has signed a contract with Admiral-Tecnomar to build a new 37 metre aluminium superyacht. The yacht, which is the fifth yacht commissioned by Nakhimov at Admiral-Tecnomar, is designed by Monaco based Dobroserdov Design, and Bannenberg &amp; Rowell will design the yacht's interior.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/148527/image/large-369418f6f0e129f1521e4328683f79be.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/148527">Four Volvo Penta IPS 900 series will power the yacht, which will have a max speed of 22 knots.
