Once a dominant force on the global superyacht scene, American shipyards have dwindled significantly over the past decade or so. To understand how the industry is adapting, we travelled to Seattle and Vancouver – two hubs of Pacific Northwest boatbuilding with deep maritime roots.&nbsp;The US has long been a cornerstone of the global superyacht market. Yet evolving buyer behaviour, international competition, shifts in economic conditions and evolving business models, have brought major challenges. The once-favourable euro-dollar exchange rate has flipped, making European yards more attractive to American buyers. Domestic builders like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/106" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Trinity Yachts (Company)">Trinity</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/149" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Christensen Shipyards, LLC. (Company)">Christensen</a> have closed their doors, while others have seen production slow dramatically. This reflects a broader shift in how North American shipyards are approaching production, design and market strategy – especially in light of growing competition from countries like Turkey and Taiwan.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/359371/image/large-0b776d92c59afa39dd2b3f6c4c5ee092.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/359371">Recalibrating at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/217" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Westport Yachts (Company)">Westport</a>A telling example is <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/217" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Westport Yachts (Company)">Westport Yachts</a> on Washington’s Pacific coast. At its peak, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/217" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Westport Yachts (Company)">Westport</a> delivered up to a dozen composite yachts annually, including more than 75 of its best-selling 112-foot series over two decades. The yard’s success was underpinned by its speculative production strategy, which allowed clients to take delivery within six to twelve months. This helped the shipyard maintain a steady flow of production and consistent revenue while keeping the workforce busy. In 2003, it opened a purpose-built yard in Port Angeles to build larger yachts and launched a dozen hulls in its flagship 50-metre series. But in 2014, a change in ownership saw a shift to a build-to-order model. Production slowed substantially, and with it, the yard’s competitive edge.&nbsp;“Looking ahead, I’m cautiously optimistic,” says <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/217" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Westport Yachts (Company)">Westport</a> President Daryl Wakefield. “We’ve returned to building on spec and currently have two yachts in our 41-metre series under construction – one of them speculative – the first since our strategic pivot. If successful, this could mark the beginning of a turnaround. But with fewer yachts in build, maintaining our workforce and infrastructure is a real balancing act.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/4207/image/large-d7c841a1a71fd42ffa09f5c253428ec6.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/4207">Delta on the moveDown the road in Seattle, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine</a> is equally adept at building in composite or steel and aluminium, evidenced over the years by yachts like <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3862" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Steadfast46.03m (151'0&quot;)Delta Marine1999">Affinity</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4814" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Moonstone79.2m (259'10&quot;)Delta Marine2016">Albatross</a>,&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1688" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Starship56.39m (185'0&quot;)Delta Marine2001">Gallant Lady</a>,&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3973" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Invictus65.5m (214'11&quot;)Delta Marine2013">Invictus</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4887" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Endless Summer50.0m (164'1&quot;)Delta Marine2017">Endless Summer</a>. The company has mostly operated under the radar, but is beginning to share more news about its activities. Traditionally focused on custom yachts for private use with strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), many of its yachts have remained under the same ownership for decades. However, two composite vessels currently in build – 45-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/12551" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Project Zembra 45.3m (148'7&quot;)Delta Marine2026">Project Zembra</a> and 47-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/13348" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Project Ammo47.48m (155'9&quot;)Delta Marine2026">Project Ammo</a> – signal a move towards expanding its presence in the charter market.“These yachts represent a new direction for us,” says Michelle Jones, Vice-President at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine</a>. “They will be the first in <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta Marine’s</a> history to be built specifically for charter use. It’s a big change for us, but one we’re incredibly excited about. For the first time, we’ll be able to talk openly about these yachts, show them to the public, and give potential clients the opportunity to experience the quality of a <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta</a> yacht firsthand.”Building for charter use is aligned with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta’s</a> long-term strategy to grow its international footprint. Both yachts will be delivered as American-flagged vessels with Cayman Islands certification, allowing them to operate in US waters under the Jones Act, which typically restricts foreign-flagged commercial yachts from visiting consecutive American ports. The move enables these yachts to charter on the West Coast of the US, an area currently underserved by yacht charters. Jones also hinted at a new collaboration with a well-known Italian designer.“We’ve always marketed our yachts globally, but the core of our business will always be American,” she says. “That said, collaborating with high-profile designers will help <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/47" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Delta Marine (Company)">Delta</a> appeal to a broader audience, particularly in Europe, where the design factor is extremely important.”<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/840" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nordlund Boat Company. Inc. (Company)"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/329450/image/large-a0ea050d115ae4092d49a70ddd11b82b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/329450">Nordlund</a>: reinventing refitThe Tacoma-based <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/840" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nordlund Boat Company. Inc. (Company)">Nordlund Boat Company</a> began as a builder of composite hulls for other brands, but later evolved into a boutique yard for fully custom yachts. The 115-foot expedition yachtfisher <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6219" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cazador35.05m (114'12&quot;)Nordlund Boat Company. Inc.2018">Cazador</a>, launched in 2019, exemplifies its approach. The long-range cruiser launched in 2019 for a repeat client boasts a vacuum-operated elevator connecting all three deck levels – a highly unusual feature for the size of yacht.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/840" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nordlund Boat Company. Inc. (Company)">Nordlund</a> is currently in the process of reinventing itself again, this time as a specialist refit yard. This dovetails neatly with the growing trend among owners to refurbish their existing yachts rather than build new. In fact, despite the downturn in new construction, the refit market in the US has continued at full blast with 435 refit shipyard visits noted in 2024, up almost 10% from around 400 refits a year registered during 2020 and 2021. According to The State of Yachting 2025, the US tops the list of refit countries across the size range.“Refits require the same precision and skill as new builds,” says <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/840" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nordlund Boat Company. Inc. (Company)">Nordlund’s</a> project manager Matthew Fowles. “Our custom experience gives us a real edge in handling complex upgrades for owners wanting to extend the life of their vessels.”<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6219" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cazador35.05m (114'12&quot;)Nordlund Boat Company. Inc.2018">Cazador</a> reflects how large yachts are designed, built and used in the Pacific Northwest. Purpose-driven, often with fishing in mind, their design favours practical features over extravagant luxury. Usually built in composite for rugged adventure and long voyages (American owners have fewer qualms than their European counterparts about tackling rough seas and long crossings in fibreglass boats), the focus is on efficiency, comfort and ease of maintenance. Cooler temperatures and frequent rain also mean more protected interior spaces. While in Florida it's all about staying cool while enjoying the sunshine, in this corner of the continent yachts are more likely to have diesel heaters than AC to keep the damp out and make the shoulder seasons more tolerable when the mercury drops.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/304085/image/large-74643bb234d4146757d8587b2c60d8fa.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/304085">Rethinking the marketCanadian naval architect Gregory C. Marshall is active both at home and abroad with the exterior design of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Nobiskrug (Company)">Nobiskrug’s</a> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6282" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Artefact80.0m (262'6&quot;)Nobiskrug2020">Artefact</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/928" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dunya Yachts (Company)">Dunya’s</a> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/3834" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="King Benji46.7m (153'3&quot;)Dunya Yachts2024">King Benji</a> to his credit. He sees deeper cultural shifts affecting the sector and points to the reluctance among some North American clients to flaunt their wealth, which can discourage investment in high-profile new builds. Tax and financial concerns also prompt many to commission yachts overseas.“Builders need to rethink how they engage with the market,” Marshall explains. “There’s strong demand for quicker, more cost-efficient builds that don’t sacrifice quality. At the same time, today’s yachts have become overly complex, driving up costs without proportional value.”Designer Ivan Erdevicki of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1343" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="ER Yacht Design (Company)">ER Yacht Design</a> echoes these concerns. Among various projects under way at home and abroad, he has a 65-metre explorer in-build at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/14" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="RMK Marine (Company)">RMK</a> in Istanbul that is just one of two new-builds (the other is <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6355" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="REV Ocean194.9m (639'5&quot;)Vard Group AS2027">REV Ocean</a>) to meet Polar Code Category B – Ice Class PC 6 requirements. He kept a studio in downtown Vancouver, but moved out of the city during the lull that came with Covid pandemic. He believes superyacht builders in the US have lost ground through inaction.&nbsp;“Many shipyards haven’t kept pace with innovation, choosing to stay conservative rather than exploring new design ideas or adopting advanced technologies,” he says. “This lack of investment and forward-thinking has led to a slowdown, with some yards struggling to keep up with their European counterparts. Success comes not only from technical expertise, but also from adapting to the shifting market.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/281011/image/large-6792c137998447bd2f97efcc52fc7920.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/281011">Crescent’s comebackAlthough several shipyards in the Pacific Northwest have been mothballed or closed down, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/544" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Crescent Custom Yachts (Company)">Crescent Custom Yachts</a> is enjoying something of a renaissance, backed in part by a resurgent commercial shipbuilding industry driven by an increase in government contracts. At the time of our visit, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/544" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Crescent Custom Yachts (Company)">Crescent</a> had four custom projects over 100 feet in build: a just-launched 36-metre yacht, two more of 45 and 42 metres – all in steel and aluminium – and a 32-metre aluminium catamaran.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/544" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Crescent Custom Yachts (Company)">Crescent</a> is also expanding its operations to include a new satellite facility south of Vancouver in White Rock (actually the site where the brand started as Crescent Beach Boatbuilders in 1988) that will grow production capacity as the company transitions from GRP to metal construction.&nbsp;“We worked with composites in the past, but switching to steel and aluminum makes more sense for our clients,” says Tim Charles, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/544" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Crescent Custom Yachts (Company)">Crescent’s</a> principal and grandson of the founder. “For custom, one-off builds, metal is the better option in terms of both time and cost efficiency.”The new facility will give <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/544" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Crescent Custom Yachts (Company)">Crescent</a> the flexibility to decide whether to bring metal fabrication in-house or outsource portions to trusted partners. Additionally, it helps counteract current tariffs on steel and aluminium between the US and Canada, which have made it difficult for shipyards on both sides of the border to plan their materials procurement with confidence (the steel hull and aluminium superstructure for its 146-foot project, for example, were built across the border in neighbouring Washington).&nbsp;As a custom builder, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/544" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Crescent Custom Yachts (Company)">Crescent</a> follows a made-to-order business model. It has also implemented an “Open-Book-At-Cost” (OBAC) billing system that charges customers transparently for time and materials, instead of working to inflexible contracts and trying to make the best deal possible with the least amount of time and money.“We view our relationships with clients as partnerships, not just contracts,” explains Charles. “We share the risks and rewards with them, which helps us stay busy and maintain a full order book. We don’t even use the word ‘change order’; we have scope revisions, and our clients are involved in those decisions along the way. When they see everything we do, it builds trust and strengthens the relationship.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/15298/image/large-a9600859d3c713b04273d8bd87c940eb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/15298">Navigating the futureDespite ongoing pressures and uncertainties for the region’s superyacht builders, there are reasons for optimism and potential growth. The US remains the world’s largest market for superyacht ownership, which suggests there is a ready market in the offing if shipyards can adapt by streamlining production, embracing innovation and re-engaging with a new generation of owners.“The path forward is clear,” says Marshall. “To stay competitive, shipyards here need to balance customisation and luxury with the realities of modern production. Seen here anchored off the idyllic Italian coastline in Positano last week is the 56.4-metre motor yacht My Seanna. My Seanna’s daring owner decided to lengthen the vessel and in 2014 work began on extending the 48-metre Delta Marine superyacht known as Newvida into the charter-friendly My Seanna we see today. Rybovich extended her aft-facing decks and the bridge deck aft now houses a touch-and-go helipad. Inside, her guest cabins have also received cosmetic and structural modifications, with a forward facing VIP suite now located above the bridge deck.

How does one go about creating the perfect charter yacht? Commission a new-build at a world leading shipyard? Further develop an already successful charter yacht perhaps? The solution to this request by the owner of the ex 48m Newvida came in the form of a 7.6 meter extension and a series of well executed enhancements to his yacht, transforming the current My Seanna into a guest-pleasing oasis<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152479/image/large-28c937405d6157767920783917ba8041.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152479">It was the work of the owner’s representative, Joseph Leone, to establish what changes the yacht would ultimately undergo. Leone set out to uncover essential features that all successful charter yachts are able to offer their guests today, and incorporated these in a single profile. After meeting with naval architect Patrick Dupuis of Murray &amp; Associates, these ideas came to life in sketches and technical drawings which would eventually steer the 17-month transformation project.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152480/image/large-3c85fe065d57b6642cf59d25d637f5e5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152480"> The well established Rybovich Shipyard in Florida was tasked with the completion of these advanced cosmetic and structural changes to the vessel. “The brief was very clear,” explains Francois van Well, Vice- President of Business Development at the yard and a key role-player in the success of the project; an extension to all aft-facing decks had to be completed with a beach club added to the newly extended stern area. The extended sundeck will have to house a touch-and-go helipad, and a new silver metallic paint job for the hull and mast.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152481/image/large-c3d327466213c2b8a8e42a49815ce2ba.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152481"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152482/image/large-a7dd73f4afe8a72bf6fdbb8910520fdd.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152482">Following the removal of the existing transom area, focus shifted to the construction and assembly of the brand new beach club. The yard succeeded in creating from scratch a space that now houses a 19ft tender and two jet skis. These are launched through an upward opening garage door using the overhead crane, and reveal an ideal guest area where free standing wooden furniture and contemporary black and white panelling sets the scene for a relaxing day at anchor. Good storage for watersport toys and diving gear can be found on the starboard side with a day head and drinks-fridge to port. Guests are led directly up to the aft main deck through a set of stairs on the port side.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152483/image/large-3b786a8108055ab74de3fc8e55eefc11.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152483"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152484/image/large-f28b00b6c445142c38ec7d5f13cb86ff.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152484">The main deck aft area which used to be enclosed by glass side panelling has been completely opened and the space is now one of the main outdoor meeting areas. The 16ft extension to this deck has enabled the designers to add a U-shape settee aft, great for both dining and evening cocktail occasions thanks to the adjustable tables. The entire midships area of the deck has been raised to create a centre island, allowing guests to fully appreciate the surrounding views and also lends a sense of purpose and structure to the deck. Additional free-standing furniture make up the remaining seating possibilities and is easily arranged or even removed by the crew to suit any event.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152485/image/large-1d221ed36e99040f68bd9b4913e13e22.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152485">The upper aft deck has also been enhanced by the removal of the darkened side windows. The deck feels extremely airy and open, yet completely private and secluded from the rest of the yacht. A perfect location for dining when in port. The large 10-seater dining table could once be found on the main deck aft, but was moved up here during the rebuild. On either side of the table, back-lit blue marble-top counters have been installed. A buffet cabinet on port side and a full service bar to starboard. This keeps wonderfully with the ocean blue colour scheme of the group of sunbeds. The two individual U-shaped seating areas placed aft adds to the symmetrical design of this deck.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152486/image/large-13a630da59798cbcd29710e89d1ac198.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152486">During the original construction, composite materials where used in the building of all decks above the upper deck including the bridge deck superstructure. The yard decided to continue with the use of this material and added another 10 feet to the sundeck aft. To ensure adequate space for the helicopter, the old Jacuzzi was removed and replaced with an oversized custom pool moved forward.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152487/image/large-cceb97dad3c4834f79e2ceb849d6de08.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152487">The new pool features two bar tops on either side, suitable for use when in the pool or while enjoying the views from the bar stools on deck. The relaxing sound from the infinity edge waterfall feature is sure to attract guests. It is from here where guests will be able to experience a movie night under the stars made possible by a projector mounted on the deckhead forward of the Jacuzzi and displays an image on a removable screen placed on the very aft section of the deck.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152488/image/large-e96694057f9a032ca7374f512abb90d5.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152488">An exercise area with free-standing gym equipment was created beneath the superstructure overhang where guests can stay in shape even while on holiday. A sauna was also added to this wellness corner, and guests will be able to enjoy the views here too through a large window. On the starboard side a large cabinet has been installed which houses a BBQ grill and wine cooler. With the helicopter removed from sundeck aft, this space is quickly transformed into a sunbather’s paradise with movable deck furniture and sunbeds.The once cramped and single-purposed crow’s nest has been converted into the ultimate chill spot on board. Guests can retire here just before sundown to capture 360 degree views of the stunning surroundings in absolute peace and security.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152489/image/large-b825540ce21359c7e2286e937ca204d4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152489"><img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152490/image/large-b41da481b19caca5c2b94d0330bbf4f2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152490">My Seanna’s interior too has received extensive hours of renovations and upgrades. An area which has been completely transformed is the brand new VIP cabin located forward on the sundeck. Here, the view offered by the large forward facing windows has been utilised to create a living area unlike any other onboard. Keeping with the matt finished wooden panelling and gold brushed accents running throughout the entire interior, the VIP is opulently styled with modern touches such as the rising flatscreen TV forward and new Creston AV system. A private staircase leads guests down to the upper salon landing while another exit leads aft from the cabin directly onto the sundeck.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152491/image/large-5bc92fb55ad30a522da738555f8f23ed.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152491">Another innovative modification performed on the interior was the redesigned access from the upper salon to the aft deck outside. Before, a spiral staircase directly forward of this entrance used to limit access between these two spaces to two narrow entrances on either side of the staircase. The decision was made to remove the staircase completely, which enabled the yard to create a large sliding door that now serves as a link between these two interior and exterior living spaces. In addition to this, the upper salon also received a new drinks bar on the starboard side paired with the re-organising of some original furniture to make the area as flowing as possible.The four guest cabins located on the lower deck each received two portholes. These cabins had to solely rely on electrical lighting for illumination , now they feel bright and indeed more spacious with this much needed addition.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152492/image/large-c1cbf805898e7f40aa14662059c740a2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152492">The master cabin has remained largely untouched save for the upgrade in AV systems and electronic amenities. The cabin itself continues the opulent theme onboard and features rich tones of red brown and cream all tied together with the use of brushed gold accents. The suite has a lavishly decorated his and hers bathroom with large oval shaped portholes on either side.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152493/image/large-d392b5787f125547e557e2560bcdf87e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152493">Considerable changes to the vessels handling ability and characteristics can be expected when an extension of this nature is executed. The yard’s technical team did a splendid job with the changes below the waterline to keep My Seanna sailing even better than the vessel once did. Her deeper draft is a direct result of the stern extension, and is due to the angle that the two extended prop shafts follow as they lead aft. Her cruising speed of 12 knots has not been affected by any of the changes and the added 30cm to the bottom of the keel will only improve her sea keeping ability.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/152494/image/large-00eb1187f06b1266cd6846ab2abf59e9.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/152494">This project is a setting example of the success that follows when good planning, communication between owner and designer and the integrity that an established shipyard provides, all come together. My Seanna is truly a phoenix that has risen from the ashes. Superyacht of the week: The refit of My Seanna

Following the extensive rebuild work completed on her earlier this year at Rybovich shipyard in Florida, the all-new My Seanna was presented at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this month. Her new appearance was a hot topic amongst many visitors at the show, but the true skill and craftsmanship involved in her makeover could only truly be appreciated once onboard.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151712/image/large-6325a11e41e3e87b2de54b8b6306df9e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151712">With all aft-facing decks having been extended, the design team was given the opportunity of transforming these blank canvases into areas where guests can be entertained in absolute luxury. On the sundeck an oversized Jacuzzi with an infinity edge waterfall feature has been placed, with a sauna and free- standing gym equipment also adding to the list of amenities. A 132" outdoor cinema screen forms part of the entertainment value My Seanna can offer her guests.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151713/image/large-28c9e3b95a0131cd45586f6015fa50db.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151713">From the sundeck it is only a few steps to the crow’s nest above where one is treated to stunning all-round views in complete privacy.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151714/image/large-f0f0be951933c99122d68cf6c935202e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151714">The two lower decks focus on dining and service. Here 12 guests are catered for in spacious outdoor areas each with easy access to the respective interior saloons.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/151715/image/large-8d9cda36f69824666ee25919486ade8b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/151715">Another class addition to My Seanna is her newly constructed beach deck. The cabin offers panoramic views in absolute comfort and style with the benefit of only being a few steps from the luxuries on offer on the sun deck.My Seanna has been wonderfully transformed into a yacht dedicated to guest satisfaction and world class service. First look on board refitted superyacht My Seanna

This is not your ordinary refit. Rather than selling their yacht and buying a bigger one to suit their needs, the owners chose to re-built their existing yacht they loved and add and incorporate all the new amenities they desired.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/147529/image/large-6187c82514113132452efe9d4d3624cf.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/147529">In April 2013 Rybovich was contracted to transform the 160 ft (48.80 mtr) Motoryacht Newvida, originally build by Delta Shipyards as Gallant Lady, into the 185ft(56.40 mtr) <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1688" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="My Seanna56.4m (185'0&quot;)">MySeanna</a> by performing an extensive re-built. The hull and decks were extended at the aft end of the yacht by 25ft (7.60 mtr), to allow the creation of a great beach club inside the hull, with a large opening transom door and new swim platform to become the new center of watersports entertainment which the yacht did not have before.Also the outdoor spaces on the main deck and bridge deck have been greatly enlarged and improved and offer a 180 degree vistas. In the original situation the aft decks were fully enclosed by tinted glass panels wrapping around the back of the boat (see photo). In the new version the aft decks have been completely opened up, and on the main deck a step has been created in the deck to raise the central seating area to even further enhance the view of the surrounding areas.On the (extended) sundeck a fantastic lounging and social area has been created, which when not in use is transformed into a helicopter touch ‘n go pad. A new oversized hot tub, with sun pads behind and bar in front will certainly be the place for some great parties, or just for hanging out to relax. On the portside there is a new sauna and a separate bathroom so you will never have to leave this deck if you don’t want to. Forward is also the gym equipment where working out in the morning should be the best way to start the day.If you want to be more private, on top of the sundeck structure a new sunbed area has been created with windbreak glass all around and views of 270 degrees make you feel like you are on top of the world.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/147530/image/large-a473498310ff03cdc6da62bce86a2c5d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/147530">Inside has not been forgotten and some major improvements have been incorporated in the interior spaces. The top deck interior has been transformed into a spectacular 360-degree view VIP stateroom. The new interior and opened up staircase has been made to match the rest of the vessels décor. On the bridge deck, the staircase that used to be there is no longer there, greatly improving the entertaining opportunities and seamlessly connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces on this deck through new fully hiding double sliding doors. The guest staterooms all get new much-enlarged porthole windows also giving more visual connection to the outside world on the lower deck.The exterior of the yacht has been given a major work over, changing the fashion plates, railings, bulwarks, window shapes and accent lines and to top it all off the hull will be painted in beautiful metallic silver. This is a full makeover and certainly justifies the name change as this is really an entirely new yacht for the owners to enjoy and fall in love with all over again. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1688" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="My Seanna56.4m (185'0&quot;)">My Seanna</a> will be cruising the Mediterranean waters this summer. She will be an excellent yacht for those who would like to entertain or just escape from the busy everyday life.

The yacht is in immaculate condition, and was on display in last week's Monaco Yacht Show. She offers accomodation in 5 lavish staterooms, including a spectacular master cabin on the main deck. Newvida is powered by twin 1.100HP Caterpillar 3508B Diesels.
