With a wealth of expertise spanning over two decades in luxury interior design and specialising in yacht interiors, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4979" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Giuseppina Arena (Company)">Giuseppina Arena</a> is renowned for creating unique spaces that highlight her meticulous attention to detail. The Italian designer has accumulated an array of noteworthy projects throughout her career including the 41-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4472" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dynamiq Yachts (Company)">Dynamiq</a> superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7937" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Stefania41.0m (134'6&quot;)Dynamiq Yachts2021">Stefania</a>. (Company)">Intermarine Group</a>, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6244" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Cantieri Navali di Lavagna (Company)">CNL</a> <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/570" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Admiral (Company)">Admiral</a> Shipyard and the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4876" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ferretti Group (Company)">Ferretti Group</a>, establishing <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4979" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Giuseppina Arena (Company)">Giuseppina Arena Architecture &amp; Design</a> in 2016.Understanding and adhering to the client’s ideas is at the heart of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4979" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Giuseppina Arena (Company)">Giuseppina</a>’s design principles. With a design studio in Miami, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4979" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Giuseppina Arena (Company)">Giuseppina</a> conducts extensive research into specific materials and lighting to ensure her clients’ visions come to life. Recently the designer has gained recognition for her collaboration with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1661" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tankoa Yachts S.p.A. (Company)">Tankoa Yachts</a> on the 63-metre project Stardust superyacht. Responsible for the concept’s elegant interiors, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4979" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Giuseppina Arena (Company)">Giuseppina</a> focused on establishing a sense of harmony between Stardust’s exterior and interior aesthetic. Balance is at the core of Stardust’s design and each interior design element has been thoughtfully and purposely chosen to seamlessly blend with the yacht’s exterior.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/295030/image/large-e06ed99594895d2701b8200246eb3637.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/295030">Can you share some career highlights since our last interview back in 2021?Yes, I have been working on the refits of a few <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a> yachts in Italy and in Miami. Some clients had yachts coming from Europe and they needed them to be refitted here locally, while another client did a refit in <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/681" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Marine (Company)">Monaco Marine</a> and we delivered the yacht to Europe. I have also been working on a new project, a big catamaran, but I can’t reveal which shipyard this is for yet, it is approximately 40-metres. I have been working on some residential projects which are connected with the yacht world in terms of location, style and design, they will be revealed soon. I divide my work between residential projects and yachts. I’ve worked with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/584" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pershing S.p.a. (Company)">Pershing</a>, completed the Navetta and at the time of our last interview I had completed the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4472" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dynamiq Yachts (Company)">Dynamiq</a> GTT 135 superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/7937" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Stefania41.0m (134'6&quot;)Dynamiq Yachts2021">Stefania</a>. There is a lot of refit work here in Florida so that’s what I have been doing recently, as well as a collaboration with Exclusive Resort on some residential resort projects. Notably, I have worked on a 50-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a> yacht, though I can’t share more details, it was completely original and we incorporated some unique elements that we generally never see on yachts.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/291790/image/large-2c102f7b3c5744c0ea0c08a249a29efa.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/291790">Could you share insights into how your collaboration with&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1661" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tankoa Yachts S.p.A. (Company)">Tankoa</a>&nbsp;came about and what the design brief for this new concept was?We spoke a lot about a possible collaboration and how they were willing to launch a new project which would feature unique exterior lines and distinctive interiors. They found a great exterior designer who provides high quality work and asked me if I wanted to be involved in the process. I was enthusiastic about the collaboration because I have always loved <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1661" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tankoa Yachts S.p.A. (Company)">Tankoa</a> shipyard and the modern, contemporary, sleek interiors which they normally produce. We had a quick briefing and they informed me about the young client’s design preferences. I tried to create an interior which seamlessly matched the yacht’s profile, bringing the exterior lines and conceptual elements into the interior. The name Stardust conveys how unique the project is, contrasting the darkness of the sky with the brightness of the stars. These elements of dark grey and bright highlights are evident in the yacht’s exterior and I tried to emulate this, creating a one of a kind interior. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/291789/image/large-75b096db1790d55128d6b7acf605555d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/291789"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/291792/image/large-538731170f9250f64c77cf915512abc7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/291792">What stylistic inspiration influenced your vision for the interiors of Stardust?The interior design of Stardust is very masculine whilst also remaining elegant and relaxing for guests onboard. In terms of the use of colours and shapes, the design inspiration stems back to the concept of compromise and harmony. The interiors showcase contrasting tones which aren’t too dark but remain modern. The overall goal was to achieve a synergy between the interior and exterior.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/291786/image/large-46eea9b2b12004ea4ccae9ee69aed51b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/291786">A notable feature onboard the Stardust yacht concept is the inclusion of floor to ceiling windows, how do these align with the overall vision for the yacht’s interior?The inclusion of floor to ceiling windows was crucial to the design of the yacht and I worked closely with the exterior designer to seamlessly integrate them. One of the pivotal spaces onboard Stardust is the beach club area, it strongly conveys the connection between the exterior and the interior. Continuity was key to the beach club’s style, the walls are adorned in high gloss with metal profiles and one of the two doors in the area is hidden. The generous space of the beach club can house a small gym, spa, steam room, seating area and a bar in a type of all-encompassing lounge which is connected to the cockpit through a shared skylight. &nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/291794/image/large-6387b54ee7cb940dd62406394cc70593.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/291794"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293672/image/large-d0bc1d6a039435e7c88d0090ca6ebed3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293672">Functionality and elegance often coexist within your yacht designs, what challenges did you face with Stardust when designing practical yet luxurious living spaces?The connection and dialogue with the shipyard during the design process was crucial. We discussed the technical features which would be incorporated into Stardust. Form follows function, in this case both aspects came together because the shipyard asked us to consider functionality during the planning stages. We worked closely with the technical department during the initial phases, considering questions like where do we put the ventilation tank for the engine room? In addition, storage was key and predominantly located in the two staterooms and behind the library in the saloon.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293666/image/large-9f0ed087b4712c4964a85f6d9bf39ab7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293666"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293668/image/large-8f6af90441204681039c6f40c50d0c35.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293668">The upper deck showcases an impressive owner’s suite, with access to a private pool, in what ways has privacy and exclusivity been incorporated into Stardust’s design?In terms of what sets the design of Stardust apart from other yachts, I would have to say the detailed finishes and the unique ceiling. Regarding exclusivity, the partition behind the bed in the master suite echoes residential interior design, whilst maintaining the yacht element. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/291796/image/large-082a5d9d1676131f398b3a2da933c75f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/291796"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/292669/image/large-427bc3c0640cf4f28c0fdc00180e96fb.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/292669"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293663/image/large-9efbdf6b13f644210bddfa03bb99467f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293663">Meticulous attention to detail is a trademark of your design style, which unique intricate design elements have been incorporated into the Stardust concept?We paid attention to the details of the furniture because we wanted the intricate design elements to be unique. The entrance showcases two symmetrical shelved libraries, featuring high gloss finishes, combining vertical and horizontal metal. As I mentioned, storage was an important architectural feature to consider when designing the interiors. The first lounge area displays floor to ceiling windows and houses free standing, floating furniture. We created a very elegant and modern design, showcasing sleek lines, particularly in the forward partition in the main saloon. The saloon displays metallic tones, which aren’t intensely shiny, reminiscent of an industrial style, this creates a cloudy effect which is very fitting for the Stardust concept.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293665/image/large-864ce2a0427d0810ad610eaf2f90c10c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293665"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293661/image/large-4cdd96a1f05430dd3fd0f94360698755.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293661">The rigid lines of the saloon are echoed in the master suite, contrasting a comfortable and chic design with modern and firm features. Notably, a unique wall is situated behind the headboard in the master stateroom, creating the sense of a partition from the port to the starboard side. The fixed lines contrast with the curved, soft furniture within the suite. Forward of the master stateroom is the private pool, this offers guests a calm sanctuary to enjoy, while an exclusive office and ensuite are also situated in the stateroom and will reflect the style of the master suite.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293670/image/large-a272b8c8d242993f3194b765827fdd66.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293670"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293671/image/large-2138be1eb04fdb314d9600312c0a85b4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293671">In what ways have you employed specific shapes and colours to create a sense of serenity onboard?Stardust’s exterior significantly shaped the interior design. I started with the lines, I tried to match the smooth exterior lines with more rounded lines. The lighting was also key as we wanted to create a similar atmosphere to the yacht’s bright exterior, blending the two together. Harmonising the interior colours was a key design element, fusing muted grey and darker tones with high gloss finishings. We also worked with a beige milky colour, reflective of the Milky Way and we wanted to add a touch of light into the carpeting and the precious stone in the dining area, to adhere to the project’s Stardust title. The carpet in the lounge area encapsulates this goal, transforming the darker elements to feature bright accents. These celestial interior design features are part of the reason why Stardust is most effectively presented during the night. The yacht concept derived from the desire to create a dark elegant atmosphere, characterised by elements of brightness, this was achieved through the furniture and lighting.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293664/image/large-b50c81ccfd65c8acbdc055e9025d5367.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293664"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/291795/image/large-2860551c8bc4268047d2622b4efdffca.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/291795">Another distinctive design aspect onboard Stardust is the dark grey mirror. This interior feature blends with Stardust’s signature high gloss finishes, to form a subtle depth. I would also consider the dining table to be a masterpiece. It is crafted from both wood and grey glass and situated above an organic carpet, this pairing stands out in the main saloon which is otherwise characterised by a rigid, geometric design.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/291797/image/large-6d0327cbcde8ee2c004a8261dc7a5985.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/291797"><img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/293669/image/large-9e8f54afa3fa3e0ebae7453812fc6ef1.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/293669">Looking forward, could you share what lies ahead for you in terms of future yacht designs and concepts?Hopefully by the next article I can be clearer and share more details about my upcoming projects. I am currently waiting for the green light from the shipyard to reveal this next project, it will be a completely different concept from Stardust, something one of a kind which truly represents my firm. The beauty of working with clients is that you can bring their visions to life, whilst experimenting and growing as a designer, allowing you to become very eclectic, this is at the heart of my work.

The shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4472" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dynamiq Yachts (Company)">Dynamiq</a> has signed a new contract for a 50-metre superyacht, GTT 160 from the Grand Turismo Transatlantic series. The yacht will be the new flagship of the grand and will be build in aluminium and carbon fibre, with a fast displacement hull and will be delivered in the summer of 2025. The Northern European buyer was introduced to the brand by Pierre Badin of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/833" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Denison Yachting (Company)">Denison Yachting</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/207919/image/large-b4f85b94444eff4748101c1350e70c16.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/207919">The yacht has been designed for efficiency, with her lightweight construction also benefiting from the implementation of Hull Vane technology that makes it possible to lower the engine size by 40 percent in comparison with similar sized steel models. She will reach top speeds of more than 16 knots with a range of over 4,500 nautical miles and her naval architecture has been penned by Dutch studio <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/15" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Vripack (Company)">Vripack</a>.Top features of the yacht include her six staterooms, with full-beam main deck master suite, a large main deck beach club with pool and folding terraces, as well as an observation deck with beautiful sea views. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/198149/image/large-ddf9184892a3abacbf61d18678af64b0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/198149">"It was a great experience dealing with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4472" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dynamiq Yachts (Company)">Dynamiq</a> as they showed extreme flexibility in fulfilling all of the owner’s wishes," says broker Pierre Badin. “Being a forward-thinking concept, some changes were required to match the client’s family-centric lifestyle, but these were all incorporated fast and smoothly. It’s quite a unique situation when a design bureau is basically directly linked to the shipyard. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2445" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dobroserdov Design (Company)">Dobroserdov Design</a> made all sketches and investigations almost in real time, which the client really appreciated. This experience lit the embers, and she moved to the yachting industry, wishing to learn more about the construction process from both the shipyard’s and the clients perspective. She joined the team at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/228" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Intermarine S.p.A. (Company)">Pershing Shipyard</a>, an opportunity which she embraced completely. Working with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/584" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Pershing S.p.a. This has resulted in specific technical solutions to enhance the comfort, liveability and operation of the GTT 135. &nbsp;&nbsp;Like Jetsetter and the GTT 115, a Fast Displacement Hull Form by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/460" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Van Oossanen Naval Architects (Company)">van Oossanen</a> provides remarkably low resistance and fuel consumption. The addition of a Hull Vane further improves hull efficiency and motion comfort. A double spray rail and tweaks to the reverse bow shape at entry ensure the foredeck will remain dry. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/186743/image/large-9709d97cd45575ea6fedd423a27d0a92.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/186743">Very low noise and vibration levels were a priority for the owner. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4472" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dynamiq Yachts (Company)">Dynamiq</a> and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/460" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Van Oossanen Naval Architects (Company)">Van Oossanen</a> consulted with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6098" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Intersona (Company)">Intersona</a>, noise and vibration specialists in the Netherlands with over 45 years’ experience in the marine field. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6098" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Intersona (Company)">Intersona</a> analysed the hull structure and noise-emitting components to achieve the contractual levels.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6098" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Intersona (Company)">Intersona</a> recommended Rubber Design, another Dutch company specialised in anti-vibration technology for propeller shaft installations on yachts, and the GTT 135 is fitted with a Torque Compensation System that reduces structure-borne noise by more than 25dB. Consisting of two rubber spring elements supporting the gearbox and two air springs that produce a counterforce to compensate for torque displacements, the TCS control unit works by adjusting the air spring pressures to maintain the engine gearbox in a neutral position and reduce the excitation forces transmitted to the hull structure. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/186747/image/large-0c5b4b77aa7996f7a2ea3ea7effd3e1f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/186747">To reduce engine exhaust noise, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4472" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dynamiq Yachts (Company)">Dynamiq</a> specified 2.8-metre mufflers by UK-based Halyard that provide noise attenuation of more than 40 per cent. Cavitation is another source of noise and vibration and the GTT 135 is equipped with SIP Marine propellers. The Dutch firm uses CFD analysis, proprietary software and VR technology to reduce pressure fluctuations on the hull and shaft for cavitation-free prop designs that still provide optimal thrust and energy consumption.The design team chose to install curved Vector fins from Side-Power by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/3601" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sleipner Motor AS (Company)">Sleipner Motor</a>. These generate more vertical net force than flat fins that operate parallel to the angle of the hull’s deadrise, creating an anti-roll force that is more efficient that that of straight fins. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/186746/image/large-67f1d0d239a0209a37325c10b85353f4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/186746">Even the HVAC system by Termodinamica is more efficient. Using a gas refrigerant instead of chilled water, the air handlers work at a very low temperature to offer better dehumidification, less condensation and power consumption is reduced by at least 50%.“Yacht builders are like chefs – we use the same machinery or ingredients but in different combinations and proportions,” says <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2445" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Dobroserdov Design (Company)">Dobroserdov</a>. “Yes, we have some exotic components aboard Stefania like the Torque Compensation System, but more comfort and efficiency gains can be made by refining hull lines, props, rudders, and so on, than by installing the latest space-age technology.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/186745/image/large-858718e555e40d4bec54dfdf68a6d4a4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/186745">The project also drew on the operational know-how of Captain John Scullard as shipyard captain. Formerly captain of the GTT 115, his input included rerouteing the mast ventilation for the grey and black water tanks to avoid back pressure, improving the position of the mooring gear in the stern for faster and safer operation, and making sure the engine room layout provides easy access for maintenance.Stefania is equipped with aerosol firefighting equipment that uses non-conductive dry powders in areas where applying normal extinguishing agents, such as water or foam, might cause more damage than the fire itself, especially around electrical systems.Unusual for a yacht of this size, the GTT 135 has a forward garage so the tender and toys are stored as far away as possible from the guest areas. Unlike a transom garage, it also means the 5.3-metre tender can be deployed at any time, even when docked stent to in port. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/102087/image/large-536d1c71bbdeda4cd48f9635b153a078.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/102087">Twin MAN V12 1650 engines provide a maximum speed of 20 knots with an ocean-going range of 3,500 miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots. Her shallow draft of 1.8 metres is ideal for cruising the cays and shoal waters of the Bahamas.The yacht is built to RINA Commercial Class, Comfort and Green Star Plus certification. Dynamiq enters the explorer market with the all-new 33m Global 330

Dynamiq yachts have announced the sale of a GTT 135 model to an experienced European yachtsman. The new sale was facilitated by Konstantin Kolpakov of Arcon Yacht, who introduced the buyer.&nbsp;The GTT 135 will feature transatlantic range and is characterised by an aggressive exterior styling. Materials used for the superyacht project, which will feature a fast displacement hull from Van Oossanen Naval Architects, include aluminium, sealium alloy and carbon fibre.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/49644/image/large-72549c50fe137c5bcfd6b94625873c9b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/49644">Featuring an exterior designed in-house, &nbsp;the GTT 135 has been developed to slice through the water with ease. It has an optimal weight distribution and a low centre of gravity, which, when combined with the shape of the hull vane, give the yacht a 20% reduction in pitch and 30% reduction in hull resistance.&nbsp;Like the rest of Dynamiq’s range, the GTT 135 features a swimming pool, jacuzzi and a 120 square metre sundeck. Ten guests are able to stay overnight in five staterooms. The master suite has been designed to utilise the entire beam and is located on the lower deck.&nbsp;The Voith Linear Jet propulsion onboard gives the GTT 135 the power to achieve 20-knots while in ‘displacement mode’.
