The 39-metre sailing superyacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/694" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Tenaz39.0m (127'11&quot;)">Tenaz</a> (ex; Desirade 4; Mamamouchi) has been sold, it has recently been announced. Built by the British Pendennis shipyard and delivered in 1996, she features both naval architecture and exterior design from Dubois Naval Architects, with RWD undertaking her interior design.<img src="/uploads/store/photo/33268/image/large-b716c811f267aad31152e228958342a8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/33268">Tenaz was jointly listed with Ocean Independence and McMaster yachts, with Will Bishop at YPI introducing the buyer in the deal. At the time of sale, she was listed at an asking price of €5,950,000.

A day of showers and fickle breezes left racers frustrated in Porto Cervo in Sardinia, Italy as conditions forced the cancellation of the first race of the 2011 Dubois Cup. A strong fleet of eight superyachts and numerous spectator craft assembled for the 13.00 start on Sunday, which was initially postponed but then formally abandoned when the breeze fizzled out at around 14.50. The first boats in the pursuit race were already under way when the announcement came, with the rest of the fleet maneuvering for position to cross the line at three-minute intervals. The cancellation was especially galling for the race professionals aboard defending champions <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2011">Ganesha</a>, as they looked set to cross the line within seconds of their start time. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135332/image/large-ffeef0ac373842a8da60249c4c18f608.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/124996">“It was bad luck,” said the owner of the 39-metre sloop. “It would have been a terrific start. But it was very good practice for tomorrow.” The water bombs were believed to have originated from the 40-metre <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/694">Tenaz</a>, whose slingshot crews first targeted the giant ketch <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/796">Twizzle</a>. The battle soon engulfed <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/227">Drumbeat</a>, which at one stage was heroically engaged on both sides. With an eye on the weather, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda sports director Edoardo Recchi explained: “We had seven showers during the day, which tended to kill the wind. It varied between three and seven knots, and then turned to 050 degrees and died. It’s not a common occurrence here, but does sometimes happen during the break period between springtime and the reliable thermal breezes of the summer.” He added: “Pressure has been exceptionally low, 989millibars this morning, but the depression is passing over. Racing conditions should be better for Monday.” <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135333/image/large-a967fcf8707f8bda066b3db24f0a0f7d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/135333"> <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135334/image/large-01008c9569310548a43f143c3e3f5371.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/135334">Fortune favoured the brave however after a rain-affected first day’s racing at the 2011 Dubois Cup, as 200 superyacht owners and guests sat down to an alfresco dinner on Sunday evening, and stayed dry. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135335/image/large-bd688d036e4697c32dc5acc92c50c95c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/135335"> The poolside dinner at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda was a glittering platform for the launch of the Dubois Child Cancer Fund. Both previous Dubois Cup events, in 2007 and 2009, have supported child cancer charities following the diagnosis of Minna Dubois, at aged four, with neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer with low survival rates. Yacht designer Ed Dubois explained that the new fund has been set up to give focused support for research into the disease. In a moving speech Ed’s wife Honor Dubois spoke of the strains that serious childhood illnesses place on families. Introduced by Ed Dubois as “a combination of saint and superwoman”, Minna’s oncologist Janice Kohler gave a lucid exposition of the direction of current research into immunotherapy as a treatment for neuroblastoma, as an alternative to chemo and radio therapies. Survival rates for the disease have increased to 40 per cent, from just 10 per cent 30 years ago. After four years of treatment, ten-year-old Minna, who is attending the regatta with her brother and sisters, is doing well. In the matchless surroundings of "the best yacht club in the world" the stage is set for a classic superyachting event. The regatta village at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is buzzing, the yachts have assembled, and registration is under way for the third Dubois Cup. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135301/image/large-688c1c65cf4dc2fa991108d55ac8aa2b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/134306">"We're really looking forward to it," says Amy Galloway, captain of the 40-metre sloop <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/694">Tenaz</a> - a seasoned campaigner in previous superyacht meetings but making her first appearance at the Dubois Cup. The intricate coastline around Port Cervo is a favourite among racing skippers, for its dramatic scenery and unpredictable wind shifts. The sound between the Maddalena islands and the Sardinian mainland has a reputation for blowing hard - although the forecast for the weekend is currently for light conditions. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135302/image/large-1c1e77bb50652a36d80961e9b7e30b3d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/130404">The 30-metre Pendennis-built <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2284">Nostromo</a> is another Cup debutante. "We've hired Harold Cudmore as tactician," says her owner, Andrew Cook. "After all, you've got to make an effort. I've brought my son along and four of his friends as extra crew. But mainly it's a bit of fun." With no more than 10 knots of wind currently promised by the met men over the next two days, the racing will be a test of tactics. "These yachts get going in about eight knots of breeze," says Malcolm McKeon of Dubois Naval Architects. "Upwind at that speed they start to generate their own wind." <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135303/image/large-dd6c933350c612e5db22696f4d5c109b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/134264">A total of nine yachts have registered for the racing, with current cup-holder <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2011">Ganesha</a> expected to defend her title tenaciously. Perhaps the most eagerly-awaited contest will be between the two giant ketches. The 53-metre <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/227">Drumbeat</a> won the Rolex Transatlantic in 2005, and <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/796">Twizzle</a>, 57.5 metres overall and launched last year, is just back from competing in the Caribbean Superyacht Regatta and St Barth's Bucket. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/135304/image/large-8920898cbc74e37bb8cabcc2ea081468.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/133816">Richard Hollis, captain of <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/495">Inmocean</a>, the classically-styled 41-metre sloop, is taking a more relaxed view: "We haven't brought a spinnaker - we're treating it as a fun family event. We might even put a fishing pole out if there's no wind!" Three sailing superyachts have joined the event but will not race, including the 53-metre <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/22">Nirvana</a>, while <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/2519">Turquoise</a> and <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1001">Ad Lib</a>, two Dubois-designed motor yachts, will also help ensure that the spectator fleet is as impressive as the racing. Stage set for Dubois Cup 2011 superyachting regatta

Preparations are well underway for the 2011 Superyacht Cup regatta from 22-25 June in Palma. So far, 16 yachts have registered for the event including five brand new entries that have never competed in the event before. Space at the Muelle Viejo only allows for a maximum of 20-22 entries. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/134320/image/large-21a81e2326d84eed6b70fd9a42f1a53d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/134320">Returning to defend their 2010 title is the 29m Tony Castro designed Jongert Scorpione dei Mar. Other past Cup competitors coming back to Palma in June include Ganesha(39m Dubois), Saudade (45m Tripp), Tenaz (39m Dubois), Drumfire (24m Hoek) and Gliss (35m Phillipe Briand). Joining the fleet are two stunning modern classics, the 55m Adela built in 1995 by Pendennis Shipyard, and Marie, a 55m Hoek design launched last year by Vitters Shipyard in Holland. Other newcomers are Genevieve (37m Dubois), Nilaya (34m Reichel Pugh/Nautor), Nefertiti (27m, Nautor), and Heartbeat (35m Hoek). Now in its 15th year, the ever-popular Superyacht Cup is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe and is a favourite event with owners and crews at the start of the summer season in the Mediterranean. Famous for its relaxed atmosphere and fabulous sailing conditions in the Bay of Palma, the Superyacht Cup is very much a family affair with its trademark barbecues, dockside parties, and a spectacular outdoor gala evening overlooking the Bay of Palma on the final evening. Palma De Mallorca gears up for 2011 Super Yacht Cup with new entries

The 40m Dubois sloop Tenaz recently left Pendennis following a 6 month successful refit. The yacht was originally launched by Pendennis back in 1996 and has remained one of the yard’s best loved projects. <img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/127942/image/large-22ac6bfbdcac5eb121fb435aba690eca.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/127942">Following an extensive world cruise with her new owner and his family, it was decided to bring <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/694">Tenaz</a> back to Pendennis so those that built her could make her better than new again. Taking advantage of the yards history with the yacht the original new build project manager was assigned the task of, in the words of the owner “putting the yacht back to how she was when launched”. This involved a top to bottom, interior and exterior repaint, refurbishment of the teak decks, general interior re-touching, main engine exhaust rebuild, maintenance and updating of rigging and systems and general electrical and mechanical refurbishment. Following the completion of the refit the owner commented “We have been very impressed with the Pendennis commitment to quality and to supporting their owners. We first started working with them when we were in Thailand and Malaysia where they flew staff out to assist us with some issues we had. Also in Singapore one of the engineers who worked on Tenaz when she was being built flew in to help with a steering issue. The focus on customer satisfaction coupled with the continuity of their staff made bringing Tenaz back home the natural choice. He continued “The love they have for her has been evident from the start and the pride they have taken to make her better than ever shines through every detail. We are glad we made the choice to bring her home and look forward to racing her together in Palma.” Following successful sea trials the yacht left Pendennis bound for Palma, where she will be in action at the Superyacht Cup with a combined Pendennis/Tenaz team and a few special guests. The newly refurbished yacht is being considered for charter throughout the summer in the Mediterranean and the winter in the Caribbean. Pendennis’ Tenaz heads for Palma after refit

Dubois Yachts Ltd are delighted to announce the sale of two Dubois designed sailing yachts, Helios &amp; <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/694">Desirade 4</a>. <img src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/122804/image/large-ce397c992807911cd8e71816560a3809.jpg" alt="" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/122804"> The 37.5m (123ft) Helios is to be renamed <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/1218">Ludynosa G</a> (photo) and will cruise the Mediterranean this summer. Dubois Yachts Ltd will manage the boat and act as her central agents for charter. Helios was built by Fitzroy Yacht in 2004 with an interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon. The 39m (128ft) <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/694">Desirade 4</a> was built by Pendennis in 1996 as Mamamouchi. The new owner of <a href="#managed-by-application" data-legacy="true" data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/694">Desirade 4</a> plans to undertake a world cruise with his new yacht.
