One of the shipyard's strengths lies in its ability to establish a solid reputation in both the sailing and motor yacht markets, spanning monohulls and multihulls, and employing various construction materials. The common thread among these custom vessels is their penchant for intensive sailing, often venturing into remote destinations.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/229181/image/large-5f9f24cce57f180d502225854ecfb70f.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/229181">A new era of leadershipThe shipyard's founders, Frederic Jaouen (President), Frederic Breuilly (Production Director), and Brigitte Jaouen (Director of Administration and Finance), were soon joined by Michel Siou (Project Manager). While Frederic Breuilly has since retired, the remaining three partners are committed to ensuring the shipyard's continuity. In pursuit of this goal, they have initiated a takeover process that positions long standing collaborators with similar backgrounds and extensive knowledge of the shipyard's operations for future leadership roles.The three associates set to embark on this human and entrepreneurial adventure are: Gael Douguet: Sales Manager, who first encountered the shipyard in 1999 and joined the team in 2004. Vincent Balouin: Technical and Project Management Director, who became part of the shipyard in 2005, and Dominique Rouchon: Project Manager for Interior Works, who joined the shipyard in 2008.With a collective experience of over 50 years, these new shareholders will work in tandem, guided by the unwavering commitment of Frederic Jaouen as President. Over the medium term, they will become controlling shareholders with the guidance of BFR Investissements, represented by Eric Brulé.&nbsp;Eric Brulé emphasizes that this change of ownership presents an opportunity for the shipyard to leverage the expertise and motivation of its buyer partners. The French yard JFA Yachts have announced the delivery of their second vessel in the Long Island 85 series which completed her sea trials in March following her launch late last October.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/30332/image/large-5e4a4970366daec81fdaf75b8edaea79.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/30332">Measuring 26.25-metres, the catamaran is designed by Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group, with Darnet Design responsible for her modern interior design pictured below.&nbsp;<img src="/uploads/store/photo/32325/image/large-400658c08b65cea365499b34756c2d2a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/32325">On board, this latest <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/6906" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Long Island 8526.25m (86'1&quot;)">Long Island 85</a> has a composite superstructure and aluminium hull and accommodates nine guests as well as a crew of four. In addition, she also features a large aft cockpit with a salon to starboard, and another salon on the port side with a dining table, sun pads on each side, and a day head.&nbsp;In order to reduce the overall weight of the boat, teak has been laid only on the deck in front of the owner's cabin, the aft cockpit and the flybridge. In addition, hydraulic fittings have been placed on the vessel's flybridge in order to enable manoeuvres on board with a reduced crew. <img src="/uploads/store/photo/30334/image/large-67f2d4189d7d1b2af473dd1cba90b0d0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/30334">As a unique feature compared to the previous Long Island 85 catamaran, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/5643" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="WindQuest26.25m (86'1&quot;)">Wind Quest,</a> the flybridge on board this 26.25-metre vessel has a hard top which can be closed with isinglass to create a climate-controlled area when cruising in colder regions. Now that her delivery has taken place, her new owners plan to make the most of this feature and visit both the north and south poles during their travels around the globe.&nbsp;

Second JFA Yachts Long Island 85 catamaran delivered 

French shipbuilder JFA Yachts' second vessel in the Long Island 85 series has completed her sea trials following her launch late last October. Talking through some of the main features on the yacht, JFA Yachts explain: “Equipped with a carbon mast and boom, this vessel has a sail cut for performance. The hydraulic fittings placed on the flybridge are suitable for manoeuvres with a reduced crew. On the exterior, the catamaran offers a large aft cockpit with a salon to starboard, and on the port side another salon with a dining table, sun pads on each side, and a day head. New JFA Yachts Long Island 85 catamaran on sea trials

French shipyard JFA Yachts has announced the signing of a new Privilege S8 by Long Island catamaran. The sale of the new 26.25 metre vessel follows the success of her sistership, WindQuest, which was completed by the JFA shipyard in 2014.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157853/image/large-eceac44e142cb470e5905a076c1f77e7.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157853">Though indeed a sistership to WindQuest, there are several differences between the two yachts, including a different interior veneer and a hard top on the flybridge that can be closed with an isinglass closure for better protection from the elements in colder regions.<img alt="" src="https://syt-store-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/photo/157854/image/large-d5de6e4e2f55fcd3d7ea20f1587e266b.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/157854">She features a full beam owner’s suite, offering 180 degree views and access to a private deck area. JFA Yachts at the London Yacht, Jet and Prestige Car Show

The 25.90 metre long range semi custom Long Island 85 series catamaran, WindQuest, was built by French shipbuilder, JFA Yachts, and launched in 2014. She features naval architecture and sophisticated interior design by Marc Lombard, and, for a yacht of her size, she offers unrivalled space and comfort onboard for a total of up to 8 guests. The fast cruising catamaran is the inaugural vessel in the series from JFA.<img src="https://d3w3pid64ak8v.cloudfront.net/photo/167530/image/large-a971cf7aff8be28e897f63aa8fa1d173.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/167530">With the weight featuring as one of the main priorities when constructing the vessel, WindQuest has aluminium built hulls, with the deck built in composite material and assembled by bonding. This method was selected in conjunction with naval architect, Marc Lombard, in order to save on the overall weight of the yacht. As well as creating a lightweight yacht, this also presents several areas of advantage. One example is the fact that the hull will be prone to deforming rather than breaching in the event of a collision.<img src="https://d3w3pid64ak8v.cloudfront.net/photo/167529/image/large-aae5b046d32f423fdb1c82d67abf9d91.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/167529">The 16’ tender stowed aft of the cockpit is launched using an ingenious system comprising a retractable pole in the main boom. This is, again, a weight saving method which optimises the weight without the use of a crane. In another bid to keep the weight of the vessel as low as possible, teak decking has been exclusively used only forward of the owners’ cabin and in the aft cockpit.<img src="https://d3w3pid64ak8v.cloudfront.net/photo/167539/image/large-80ae1903f22da3431f129c225e41b3a2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/167539">The large cockpit provides a comfortable seating area on starboard and another on port with a dining table. With a day head and sunbeds either side, this space is optimised for maximum comfort, convenience and relaxation. On WindQuest, this area has been customised, and the cockpit can be enclosed using removable panels of transparent canvas. The flybridge is the home of the outside helm and control winches, leaving room for another seating area and sunbeds. The helm station is set up against the bulkhead between the two indoor areas. The glass door aft, the large side portholes and the front windscreen create a luminous space down below.<img src="https://d3w3pid64ak8v.cloudfront.net/photo/167540/image/large-9da1e43c425583fcba65533fd7478691.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/167540">Numerous deck lockers allow the stowing of fenders and mooring ropes as well as a good selection of tenders and water toys. Just some of the toys on board include inflatable SUP boards, snorkelling equipment and wakeboards. Two trampolines are located forward, perfect for fun or lounging and relaxation in the sun. On WindQuest in particular, a large garage opening on the aft platform has also been provided for stowing 4 bicycles. The water can be accessed easily via the hull transoms.<img src="https://d3w3pid64ak8v.cloudfront.net/photo/167531/image/large-c778fe0e78c4c687117d865879898eec.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/167531">The ‘must-have’ exciting feature on board the Long Island 85 series is undoubtedly the owner’s cabin. Stretching across the full beam of the yacht, this exceptionally large suite offers spectacular panoramic views for the owner, a feature which is unprecedented on a sailing or a motor yacht of this size. The room includes a king sized bed, a lounge area with comfy sofa, a coffee table and a professional desk with a work station. The master bathroom features a 5 head steam shower, his and hers sinks and spacious closets. Just forward of the luxurious cabin is a private deck, an opulent feature which provides the owner with exclusive privacy on board.<img src="https://d3w3pid64ak8v.cloudfront.net/photo/167537/image/large-74dc2288c07c62a43af6253ed0f82df3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/167537">The two guest cabins on board the vessel are located aft as well as in the starboard hull, and are luxuriously decorated. Each cabin comes with a queen sized bed and private bathroom facilities. This semi-custom range, as is expected, lends itself to customisation and personalisation by the owner. The hydraulic winches installed on the flybridge are well suited to manoeuvring with a reduced crew. This yacht is equipped with 2 x 380HP engines and 2 x 27kW generators which provide her with an economical speed of 8.6 knots for a fuel consumption of 21 l/h. Superyacht of the week: The JFA Long Island 85 WindQuest

Fitted with a carbon mast and boom, her sail area is that of a high performance sailing yacht. She is equipped with 2 x 380HP engines and 2 x 27kW generators.
